I was in the area dropping FMZ off to a local clinic to have some moles removed. So while waiting to pick him up, I wandered off to get a few caches as long as he was busy. I decided to come here and try to revenge this DNF from 4 years ago. I went up one side of the handrail, got to the top and started back down the other side, got only a meter or so before I felt my target. Whoop whoop here! Dunno how I missed this last time, but there you go, found today..

As I approached the GZ I had a good idea as to what the type of hide would be. It was only a matter of time before I was able to check all the possibilities. Nice view here. I wonder how many cars noticed me?

Thanks!

Staying nearby so decided to take a walk after a late dinner. Didn’t take too long in the dark.
Travelled up from Dunedin for my first Mega event and wanting to sign off some geotour caches as well in Auckland and Northland.

Heading home after a fun afternoon caching around the city and helping another team complete their D/T grid, I had swung by Newmarket to collect E1R-0T, and headed over here for some arty photo's of traffic.....I had been here a few times before looking for this cache, but too many muggles were present on these visits, but not today....

TFTC.

Last cache whilst in the nearby area. Headed up and started the search at the top. After no joy I adjusted my height and found before I hit the bottom step - yay. All good and replaced as found. T F T C tuolei

I was tasked with the airport run today as our daughter was flying back in from Blenheim having spent New Year away at parties and friend's houses. Never one to look a gift-cache in the mouth I volunteered to do the job as it meant I could go to the airport 'via' Mount Hobson and the TMGT cache there as well as the collateral others in the area. If I had time I was going to do some more out Mangere way.
Alas the rain came down and a severe downpour put the dampers on the plan and so after the Mt Hobson area ones I headed out near the airport onto Landing Drive and mopped up a few out that way.

Due to the government ordered Covid-19 lockdown, I will be doing my bit to #slowthespread. From 11.59pm on Wednesday 25 March 2020, I will not be accepting any Found logs on any of my geocaches, until the Level 4 Alert is lifted.

Please do not embarrass yourself, your hobby and your country by thinking that geocaching is essential - it is not.

If you would like a geocaching related activity to do while you are observing the lockdown, I welcome messages about how to solve my puzzle caches - I am happy to give hints and tutorials so you have lots of new caches to find when this is over.

Today, Mrs. Liver Bird had to have a procedure done at a nearby dental specialist. So, instead of hanging around the waiting room for 30 minutes to an hour, Mr. Kiwi hatched a plan to see if there were any caches in the vicinity that he could quickly go and nab. Five caches were in the area including this one. LordCacher08 was having a day off school due to illness and had to come along as well. He was quite pleased to be tackling Mt. Hobson and the motorway overbridge so didn't grumble too much.

Halfway down Mt. Hobson we had a call to say that Mrs. Liver Bird had finished here procedure and that we should head on back. Unfortunately, we were on the other side of the mountain and still had this cache to grab. So, the cache it was as it was on our way back to retrieve Mrs. Liver Bird. So, a quick explore of the bridge and a small break while we took on water, then heading on back to Mrs. Liver Bird. This time we took the stairs and searched for the cache on the way. It didn't take long to spot it and we were able to grab it before a class of girls from Dio walked past. After they had all filed past and the log was signed, we replaced the cache and headed on back to pick up Mrs. Liver Bird.

Probably my only weekend in November in Auckland. Found while in the area to pick up Tuia Mātauranga GeoTour cache on Mount Hobson. Almost gave up. Reading previous logs helps. Otherwise landed in the middle of nowhere!

2nd visit with help tricky

26-Oct-19
Found 10.55am
Labour weekend in the past has been a Mega weekend, but not to be this year.
Rough plans made last minute as to what we would do, so target was TMGT caches in Auckland, lots of solved puzzles and any thing else we passed.
Plans always change as we got half way through the weekend and decided also to collect the Te Tai Tokerau TMGT caches also.
First stop for the weekend was a visit to Waikato Hospital to visit a Huntly cacher who has had a knee operation. (guess this is going to slow him down for a while)
The weekend seemed to fly by and before we knew it we were back home.
Thanks to all the cache owners for the cache placements. SLTFTC

Labour Weekend - Saturday. With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... This long weekend has come at the right time for us. We are using the extra day to get a jump on the TMGT. Auckland and Northland are our targets...

We had our sights set on Mt Hobson, but couldn’t find an easy way in. We ended up circling the mountain, and that brought us close to other hides. We expected tricky, but spotted this almost right away. Thanks fuzzynz and tuolei. TFTC.

19-Oct-19
Day trip to Auckland to pick up some TMGT series

I was in the area and decided I should grab a cache while out. I noticed there was a Geotour cache near my destination so picked that for this morning's mission. As a bonus there was three other caches near by with a few favorites.
This was the first cache and was quickly spotted for an easy find to start my mission.

After having found "The Geo-Quiz Cache(Auckland)" in a very early morning, I left hubby for the day as he needed to work. decided to take a walk, without any specific direction and see where I ended up.
I usuallt take the stairs when going uphill, this was no exception. met a few mugglers but I could do the search where my geosense pointed me. I soon had the CIH in hand, signed, and contiued my walk by crossing the bridge.

18-Jun-19
While I was waiting for someone to have a procedure nearby, I walked over to get this one. On previous visits, I had some issues, so I had asked the CO for a hint yesterday. Knowing I was one the right track helped me get to the cache in a few minutes. TFTC.

18-May-19
Found while on a long weekend trip to Auckland. My son and I regularly come up to the Hutchwilco Boat Show for a father and son trip each year. This year we organized a fishing charter and also took the time to scatter my father's ashes as he passed last year.

Later this morning we have to do the more solemn stuff so to take my mind off it, I decided to spend some waiting time geocaching. This was the first of two caches I targeted being approximately 250m from our motel. I had an expectation of what the cache would be from the description, but reading some of the logs confused me, so I wasn't quite sure if what I expected would be what I would find. There should have been no need to worry as in the end it was what I expected and it revealed itself a lot easier than I expected.

TFTC tuolei.

This one took some hunting. Luckily not too many people about. Sat on the steps and watched the traffic rumbling passed on the Southern Motorway. Cheers

Another quick trip up to Auckland to visit family, and another opportunity to find a few caches. Lovely caching weather today too.

Thanks to all CO's for placing and maintaining their caches. Cheers

#6673. I am up in Auckland for several days attending meetings and presenting a talk at night. After todays meeting at the museum finished at 3pm, I had a few spare hours before my flight back to Wellington tonight. So slowly making my way back to the airport via a few inner city caches. Not sure I parked in an area set aside for geocachers but it was handy today as the street was packed with cars. I have found a few caches on overpass bridges so knew what to do. But there are a lot of potential hiding spots on this bridge. On the way back down I accidently dislodged the cache. Looked carefully where it had fallen and safely retrieved the cache from below. Signed the log and walked back up to return it to the correct spot. Thanks tuolei for another nicely placed cache. When is it not rush hour in the city these days?

I'm in Auckland this weekend with the kids for my birthday. We headed down to the ports yesterday to see what was on. We had a lovely time exploring the area. We especially enjoyed seeing the Wynyard Bridge opening. We saw the fireworks from Queens Wharf in the evening which was great. Today we dropped my son off nearby and I wanted to grab this cache quickly which was easy with two of us. No rush hour today with it being Auckland Anniversary weekend. We had a walk over the motorway which was fun for us non city folk. Thanks for the cache to bring us here Smile

15-Dec-18
Heading home to Canada tomorrow so we had to go out and grab a couple of caches before leaving. TFTC

05-Dec-18
Very nice hide, but the container attachment is damaged and needs repair. The owner will need to take some glue to do the fix.

This geocacher reported that the container is damaged.

A day of caching for us and as we were driving home passed this way we decided to give this one another go.We noted that our last two visits to this gz the weather had not been the best and as the sun was shining today we had our fingers crossed.Didnt have to spend too long here today before we spotted what we were after.glad to finally turn this blue face into a smiley.

01-Sep-18
My arms were also too short. I am afraid I might have even pushed it further away. Bring a long armed monkey or long stick for this one TFTC

01-Sep-18
Returned with my pet orangutan. Not only does he have long arms but he also distracts muggles. Easier to reach now

27-May-18
Found ourselves without the geo-kids and a little bit of time before we had to collect them so decided to stop and grab a couple of caches (particularly 2 in the area that were blue frowns).

I had attempted this one previously with no luck. Wandered up and down the stairs whilst feeling my way along and looking up and down. Soon spotted what I was looking for but alas the arms are too short Sad. Back to the car to ask the other half for some help. Log signed shortly after that, replaced and my blue frown is now a yellow smile.

Thanks for the cache.

08-May-18
Too hard for me tonight!

29-Apr-18
Checked, all ok.

11-Apr-18
Right so the stairs didn't look to difficult, but it still took two trips up and down before I spotted this from the right angle. Could see another nasty storm cloud approaching from across Mt Eden so didn't hang about to long. TFTC

26-Feb-18
It was nice to be back in this area without the rain! Last time I was here looking for another cache close by, I remember it raining really heavily. Anyway, today I parked as close as I could, and then made my way to GZ on foot. You are right... taking the stairs is better for my health... and thanks to me taking the stairs I soon had the cache in hand. Nice camo! So the log book has been signed and the cache is nicely back in its place all ready for the next finder. So thank you tuolei for once again taking the time to set up all of your caches. I really appreciate your efforts in doing so. Nice!

18-Feb-18
Was in the area with Merlot58 and Jag50 to find a new cache down the road. Since this was so close we couldn't not come and find this one. The Jags stood back and watched Merlot and I search for this. It didn't take too long for me to point out the cache to Merlot, who was closer and went to retrieve it. Thankfully there were no muggles around.

18-Feb-18
After finding nearby protest hill, we wandered along the road to this one. Aiden29's eagle eyes spied this one and I did the honours of retrieving and signing the log.

Dear Cache Owners,
I am a German guy who stays in New Zealand for eight months.
My English is not perfect, so please don't wonder if my log entries sound a bit strange. Thanks!

----------

That should be my daily Cache today. I need around twenty minutes to find it, because I couldn't decide where I should start my search. Found it after some strange moves Wink
I forgot a pen, so I add a photo of the logbook. Thanks for hiding!

Just ordered a new component - on its way but cache will need to stay disabled until the new container is ready. Had a good run by the looks.

22-Oct-17
Omg that cache is in a bad state. Needs a replacement. After quick elimination made the find. If there is a log sheet in there it's wouldn't been sign able. So photo log. Cool bridge. Tftc

22-Oct-17
Disabled pending maintenance which I will do shortly.

15-Sep-17
A quick search for us but no luck.will be back another day when we have a bit more time

01-Jul-17
We drive under this bridge every day on the way to work and have been meaning to look for the cache for quite some time so today decided to give it a go, and as it was Saturday we thought it would be a good time to avoid the Rush Hour.
It was a wet and very windy day and we parked at the wrong end of the bridge so it was a very exhilarating walk across and a great view of the motorway from an angle we don't often see
Once at GZ we were pleased to find no one in sight and after a few minutes of methodical searching made the find.
A great hiding spot, thanks for the placement. Glad to finally earn a smiley.

30-Jun-17
Found after a bit of searching. TFTC

Late in the evening & on the way home with Okayness when we decided on a slight detour. Nobody around at this hour of the night which was great. Was on the right track but totally missed it until Okayness spotted it from a different view point. TFTC

25-Apr-17
Finally found it after 15mins of searching. We almost gave up, but then had one quick look before we left, and woop dee we found it. Tftc.

20-Apr-17
Popped by after work today since we needed to take Albert the geohound out for a walk in any case. Well armed with theories about how it might be hidden we came prepared to have a good look for this one. Did have a bit of a clamber up and down the bridge (nothing dangerous) before a view from a particular view revealed the cache to geowife - well done! Good hiding place and can sit happily here no doubt. The lid has rusted the hinge which is probably why a little water has got in from time to time. We didn't find the log too bad, but since we had read the logs and had brought along a new waterproof micro logpaper we changed it over anyway. We considered changing over the mint tin but our set up would make the cache more conspicuous so we decided on balance it would be better to leave the one that has less chance of getting muggled.

Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache, always interesting to get a view of the motorway from a different angle. Definitely not rush hour at the time of our visit, but still plenty of cars hurtling up and down the motorway at high speed. Only a couple of muggles came by so nice to have the place to ourselves to have a good look. Thanks again.

09-Apr-17
We are no longer living in Auckland although visiting regularly so if anyone would like to adopt this cache, please let us know.

If the next finder happens to have a log they could spare, please feel free to donate it to this cache to keep it going until we are there for work in a few weeks time.

26-Feb-17
Spend a little while searching but no luck for me

29-Nov-16
After a bit of action at the Skytower and picking up my rental car after that, i came out here. The cache was found after some searching, log is wet and starts to fall apart, should be changed. Still another cache's log signed on day 3 here in New Zealand.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this small treasure

***No muggles were harmed while searching, finding and logging this cache...***

29-Nov-16
The log is wet and starts to fall apart, a replacement would be nice.
Thank you

07-Nov-16
Spent way too much time looking with no result. May be another time.

04-Nov-16
Quite an easy find when you think where would I hide it, log still a boggy mess, managed to sign. Sorry no spare paper on me

15-Oct-16
Two previous visits with lots of searching had been unsuccessful. Today with an added hint we returned and began our search in earnest. With other hints in mind we let our fingers do the walking and were rewarded with the cache. After replacing we checked to see how visible it was and were surprised at how we could have missed it previously.

20-Aug-16
I managed to sign the log, just as well I didn't need to unfold it. It was soaking wet. A good cache though. Thanks.

12-Aug-16
Spent a wee while looking for this as I was trying to find it in all of the most difficult places. Finally read a little bit more and made the find shortly after. The log was really wet and tried to write on it but was not too successful - sorry no spares at the moment. TFTC.

05-Aug-16
Had a bit of a hunt, called short by the person I was taxiing about (my ulterior motive to offering to drive being caching of course). Thanks Smile

24-Jul-16
This is one I've tried to find two or three times in the past and failed, but today I walked right up, figured where it would be, crouched down and spotted it immediately. I tried to sign the log but it's soaking wet. #103
