I’ve been up here 3 times and DNF.
It seems the fence where it’s meant to be has been replaced, the fence is brand new.

Too difficult to maintain.

Just far enough down the hill and over the crest to be out of view of the muggle parked at the top. Unfortunately no luck for us today;maybe all those seeing eyes have taken issue with this placement?

27-Dec-21
Spent a long time searching but didn't find. Will have to come back when the grass isn't as long.

Couldn’t face the up hill walk so given the relatively dry ‘road’ I aimed the 2wd mini limo up the hill - the cache was soon in hand. Pretty obvious where it was! And what a stunning view. Thanks for bringing me here. Easy fav

Lovely clear views here today!! We started coming up the track from the wrong/other way, well sort of. If I’d listened to Sean.75 we would’ve come up the way he said to start with!! Lol. Tftc

Walked up to this great view in between meetings at council. Couldn't see the city today due to showers in the distance but feels like the top of the world. Thanks for the cache.

Day 3 of our epic 12 day / 10 night trek to the Parkville Mega in Melbourne. Razz
The constant was my travel companions for the entire trip, - Anymules and S.A. Sewer Rats but we were joined by almost local cacher Bushfire for a lot of the escapades Cool So to save space in the logs we usually just wrote our initials BABS to save space. As we met and cached with other teams along the way more and more initials were added. Surprised
Today once again we had the pleasure of the company of Muff1, Goodlook and Wozzle68 . So today we became GWAMBS. [:o)] We spent the morning still in Ballarat before attending a Lunch event and then caching our way towards the mega making quite a few varied detours along the way!. Surprised

We saw a hill that had some caches so we made a detour and turned at least two into drive-bys. This one proved to be a little bit of a search but a peak at the hint and it was soon in hand. Smile Pretty good view from up here too. Razz

**Thanks Liz and Bruce for this cache. ** Big Grin

Thursday 15 November 2018

Found with geofriends.

On my way from Adelaide to the Parkville mega, with buddies. Whilst in and around Ballarat we have generally been signing the logs "GAMBS" or "GWAMBS", or using our individual stamps, or writing our full caching names (depending on log size/ time at GZ etc).

GAMBS stands for: GoodLook, AnyMules, Muff 1, Brisal5 and SA Sewer Rats....GWAMBS includes Wozzle68 who joined us on our caching escapades - it is always awesome to travel with our very own PAF WinkRazzBig Grin

What an awesome few days we've had so far!!!

Thanks so much for the cache %OwnerName! [^]

A nice quick find as part of a large group doing a few caches in the area today tftc

15-Nov-18
muff1 have been staying in Ballarat in preparation for heading to the Parkville Event and while here our dear friends from SA have arrived and we have spent a couple of very full on days caching with them. We have all had an idea about certain caches that we would like to find and any other that we past by that we could grab.
Our appologies for the generic log, these do not take away from our appreciation of your cache hide. SL TFTC

The geo wife and myself had half the day to ourselves so we decided to drive up to the Marsh for some exploring and an early lunch. We drove up here to start with as neither of us had seen the views from here. After parking the geo wheels, a short walk had us here looking for this cache. More rubbish about and after a quick search the cache was found.

**Thanks to Liz and Bruce for hiding this cache for us to find and enjoy**

A quick and easy drive by while we were in the area with quite a nice view, although it was a little hazy today. There was a cold and ferocious wind blowing when we were there so we didn't hang about for too long. Thanks for bringing us here and thanks for the cache.

Hi, could the next geocacher attending please place a new logbook in the cache - it would be greatly appreciated. With thanks and kind regards Liz and Bruce

This geocacher reported that the logbook is full.

09-Aug-17
We were pleased that a walk up this hill had the potential of being rewarded by three caches (a trig point and two GC caches). We left our car near the gate and walked up. A tail wind and, for the first time in many days, warmish sun on our backs made for a pleasant walk. Accurate coordinates and an obvious hide led to a quick find. The container is very rusty and the lid has fallen off. Despite this the logbook was in good condition but the logbook is completely full. Maintenance is needed. Thanks Liz and Bruce (and bogonhazy) for the cache.

Benny_McBeardy made the find... it was freezing up here!! Not many places to look although we did search for a good ten minutes before we found the rusty little bugger... the logs were helpful. Tftc! Smile

After a few caching teams and the fit Triton succeeded in conquering some serious hiking caches it was now time for the other half to get some tamer finds before heading back home.
Struggled to find this hide as the gps was a bit jumpy but eventually we ended back at our original GZ and found the cache.
Thanks Liz and Bruce for the great views.

Joined up with Jacko83, Capt Roverman and Vamp1blade for an early start to grab a few caches. After the walk in Lerdie I thought I'd see how close to the top I could get, surprisingly made it to the top without any issues. Once at GZ I made a quick find. Signed and Replaced as found.

Thanks for the cache Liz and Bruce

Like the other cache close by, I'm glad I had the 4wd today. The track leading here was quite soft in places, had a ball getting here though. The views here are spectacular, should have made the trip at night....Took a bit longer to find than anticipated. I then struggled to open the container, Mr Rust has paid a visit here !! Contents were bone dry though. TFTC Liz and Bruce. Big Grin

So glad I finally worked out how to get up this hill - thank you Google satellite maps!! Third stop on a beautiful spring day geocaching with my dog. Was a nice little walk but I did have to remove a few spiky seeds from his coat before he got back in the car. TNLN. Fabulous view today. TFTC Liz and Bruce.

Suscoe's 10th find of the morning.
What a terrific view up here, we came up a few years back for another cache and had forgotten what the view was like.
Took a little circle work initially before the cache was located.
Thanks to Liz and Bruce for this cache in such a splendid spot.

A quick drive by. Having listed the TrigPoint up on top of the hill I was hoping the gate was still open and ... yes. So a quick drive up the hill and along teh well formed car track to GZ where the cache was had in easy fashion. The view across to the Yoo Yangs was clear today with very little haze in thy sky.
Took nothing, left nothing.
Thanks to Liz and Bruce for this cache hide here today.

This was one of over 110 caches I found during a huge day and night of caching with my fellow cachers Trailrunning, Rebel Acts and Blacklegend (The Demolition Crew). As we all had the day free we carefully planned in advance the run and decided to call it Ballarat Smackdown II. The plan was ambitious and resulted in almost 22 hours of continual caching.

The day started in the early hours of the morning in the far eastern suburbs of Melbourne, then moving through the northern suburbs then onto and along the Western Freeway to Enfield State Forest then north up to Ballarat itself. We cached through Melton, Pykes Reservoir and Bacchus Marsh and many of the country roads north and south of the Western Freeway as we made our way west.

We had a fantastic day finding all the different types of caches and there were some quite inventive, very tricky and well constructed hides that we found. I thank all the cache owners for the time and effort they have spent in placing all the caches we found today.

07-Jan-13
Another legendary cache run by The Demolition Crew (myself, TrailRunning, Quasar3671 and Rebel Acts). We have dubbed it Ballarat Smackdown II. This was a huge run taking us all the way from near Cardinia, via the northern suburbs of Melbourne, to Bacchus Marsh and Melton and finally Ballarat. A massive loop, and over 100 caches for the run. The company was as always fantastic, a lot of laughs, good dinner, and great caches. Many thanks to all the CO's for the hides, without them we wouldn't have been able to find anything.

Another cache up on the hill with a great view. Nice easy find in the second place we looked. TFTC.

07-Jan-13
This cache was found by me today in the company of The Demolition Crew.

While I strive to make my logs personal to every cache, I have far too many logs to do, that I apologise in this instance for using a generic log. I thank you for the placement of this cache as it was one of many that made up a great day for me and the crew..

The Day's Blurb...

The annual holidays is always a great time to relax and take it easy, but not today. The Demolition Crew had decided that after such a long break from caching together that we would start the year off with a bang! So the planning minds were put into operation, and Ballarat Smackdown II was conceived.

The smackdown started along way from Ballarat, in fact in the hills around Cardinia Reservoir and from there is was a push across the northern suburbs of Melbourne through Melton & Bacchus Marsh. It being such a hot day, the waters of Pykes Creek Reservoir cooled and refreshed us, and we were soon off to start on the Ballarat caches.

Since our first Smackdown in the area, many new caches have popped up, so it was a fruitful run which ended well into the early morning. A couple of caches were replaced as a way of saying thanks to those who took the time to place them, and I think in the end my tally was well over 100 for the run.

It was a completely awesome day, and I thank you for placing the cache. We will return to the Ballarat area soon as there are still a number of caches we left undiscovered.

This was, cache # 28 of 118 finds for the day in the company of The Demolition Crew. A nice area with some great views. My thanks to Liz and Bruce (maintenance by bogonghazy) for the cache.

My last cache for the day. I managed to find the way in and happily drove to the cache, which I found in the last likely pjlace that I looked, the second time that I looked there! Another Liz and Bruce cache off the list!

Warning to other searchers - It was only when I started back that I realised that the rain earlier had turned the dark soil of the track to very slippery mud. I was very happy to have an AWD but still crawled back down the hill, barely in control!

18-Nov-12
Found it on the second attempt. GPS took us three meters away from our first try. That made it so much easier. Always easy with a good GPS fix Smile

Very hazy up here today but still magnificent views-think we could just see Melbourne or it could have been a smudge on our glasses! Tricky little hide but found it in the end. Thanks for showing us the sights.

Decided on a golf free Saturday and as I have looked at the towers every day for the past 21 years, decided it was time to get off my butt and go for a walk and find this and No Bald Hill. No haze today and the scenery was terrific. Thanks Liz and Bruce for the great walk

Not sure what was going on with this one but the GPS led us to a dead end with nothing but private driveways. Tried another route but no luck getting near the spot... maybe we had a faulty operator Wink

Second of two (or 3rd of 3 counting the GCA trig point) while up here today en route to our bushwalk. After 'doing a lap', I soon had the stash in hand at 10:40. The views were pretty darn terrific today - not a haze in the sky Wink.

A little 4wd action in the mud coming up the fun way resulted in this find with Sulli1 , the whirring of the station indicated 14 knot winds from the SW , 33 people using their mobile phones , 14 KVA of power being generated and was 12 degrees - thanks for the info Liz and Bruce and Bogonghazy

#18 of 24 for the day on a Bacchus Blitz with tackle_head. I remember the placement of this cache being discussed, and it was always on my to-do list. As always, if there's a more difficult access route to GZ, you can bet I'll be on it, and today was no different. We had used my car for the morning run, then returned to town for lunch, and were now using tackle_heads car for the afternoon run. Kind of glad he was behind the wheel here, with a bit of slipping and sliding I was pleased to arrive at GZ. We looked in all the hard places first before broadening the search a little, and came up trumps. Thanks to Liz and Bruce, for placing this one for my mate Phil, he is a bonza chap. Hope you're both well, wherever you're roaming at the moment. Leese.

With bushfire along for the ride afternoon of caching in the area.

We took the wrong way to get to this one but found the entrance.
Put Geo Ute 4x4 in and up we went to a great view.
No haze about today with good view of Melbourne.

Thanks for drive to the top

11-Feb-12
Little vicfire is into the learning to drive thing and trying to log up 120 hours so today the ageing Bushfire was asked if he would like to accompany them up to Bacchus Marsh for an afternoons caching.

I could not say no to an option like that so off we went and this was the next cache on the list.
After a few attempts to find our way to the top the rough track was eventually found and the 4x4 was soon at the top but I think it would be a little different after heavy rain.

The cache was soon located and the log signed and as it was getting late we decided that it was about time to head home to Geelong.

Thanks Liz and Bruce for placing this guy.

Found today on a day out caching with Biggles Bear. They remembered coming up this hill before, but it didn't ring a bell with me. Now that I am home, it appears as though I have been there before. Great views from up there - a little bit hazy though. BB#2 found this one.

The last time I came up here for a cache I had to walk as my old car would never have made it through the mud to the top.
My newer car with its clearance flew up the hill and all the way to GZ.
Featherdown thought she had been up here before with me as it felt familiar to her.
Anyway I can report that the view was as expected, hazy.
It was a warm morning and it was only going to get hotter.
Thanks Liz and Bruce
