21-Sep-19
Another quick find, numbers duly noted, I think it’s Robert st though? No matter, a good start to the day.

Today was St Arnaud.
I had done some caching in St Arnaud before, but it was a little bit on the way somewhere else, or a handful at the end of the day. Today I decided to make it the focus.
A nice day, and successful. Had a good look around town, the lake and some good walking tracks. Only a couple eluded me today, a haul of 27 including an oldie and a virtual before I decided that was enough. Thanks all COs, an enjoyable day.

11-Jan-19

Found today with hingis20 and crman1. Sitting around wondering where to caching today and both hingis20 and I both came up with the idea of heading to Saint Arnaud seeing as how it was was going to be a nice day. Thing is, I was in the house and he was in the caravan when we thought of it. On vacation here from Victoria, BC, Canada and visiting with my daughter and her family. TFTC

11-Jan-19
Eltee291, Hingis20 and I are finished lunch and we are on the prowl for more caches.

23-Sep-17
A day in the Park whilst Streetgamer is at the gliding club down the road. A lovely spring day and a great opportunity to explore this area.

I was originally planning to park and grab as many as I could today, but the park and the weather is too nice today to rush, so I ended up doing a leisurely walk from the West Bay car park over to Kerr Bay and back.

That's the other set of numbers grabbed. Not sure I'll have the opportunity to look for the final today, but I'll be back...

Glad that we decided to walk up Robert Road rather than drive the camper up - the street is more like a super walking track than a road. Got to GZ and soon had the cache in hand. Thanks.

This was the 36th find on out South Island trip of 2016. We were heading out of St Arnaud and were taking the scenic route out in order to get a few caches along the way. This cache took us off the map on the GPS (I haven't updated it recently apparently). We managed to stop near ground zero and retrieve the cache and turn around without any problems at all. The cache is in good condition. Thanks for the cache!

After some planning Shannonp1 and I got sorted for a mission into areas we hadn't been. Up to Hanmer through the Molesworth to Blenheim, down the Wairau valley to St Arnaud down the Shannandoa to Murchison and then home via the Lewis. 209 caches for the weekend and a pretty high success rate. Thanks to all the cache owners especially Bum and Worker and sorry for the cut and paste.

So a few weeks in the planning phase, me and Surveybase finally got out and about for a mission. Through Hanmer, up the Molesworth to Blenheim, across through St Arnaud, Murchison and then home. 209 caches for the weekend and a pretty high success rate. Thanks to all the cache owners and sorry for the cut and paste. Cheers.

19-Jan-16
We visited this area on our way back to the north. Stayed for one night at the lake with a lot of sand flies and rain. The little stream was not so little anymore at the end of the day. At the evening i made a short trip to find a few caches. This was one of them.
Thanks for the cache.

Last night in this town before heading north, so went for a drive around the town to find some of the many caches placed here, and with the light drizzle about all the muggles seemed to be indoors, making for unobserved finds.
Thanks for the cache, bumandworker.

NZDi and I have been planning a few days away up at St Arnaud in the Nelson Lakes. Yesterday we took over six hours to travel up the Wairau Valley from Blenheim caching along the way. The trip normally takes just over an hour but we were in no hurry as we could not check in to our accommodation until after 3pm anyway. On the way up I managed to get a nice round fifty caches and NZDi got six more that I already had converted into smiley faces.

Todays aim is to get the cache at Parachute Rock then carry on to the ridge to place one of our own, however I don't think the weather Gods are going to play the game. After that we will play it by ear.

But first, we have some unfinished business on this cache which eluded us on our last visit. Today it was a quick easy find and I can't explain how I missed it last time. Then, I had been caching for less than a month, so it is amazing what nine months and almost one thousand caches experience does for your ability, but even now there are some I miss.

Staying at the Airforce holiday home at rotoiti - great opportunity to bag a few of the many caches hidden up here. A new home going in near this one - lots of vehicles and activity so stealth was needed.

A weekend trip up to the Nelson Lakes with G H 6 7 1 0 and the Seagnoid was planned with a couple of days of the weekend in one of the work baches not far off the lake side in Rotoiti/ St Arnaud. Targets were set; get the Seagnoid past 4000 caches, get more than 50 a day for G H 7 6 1 0, and get me past 3200 cache finds. Also in target was some tramping, some boat caching (grabbing whilst moored as close as safely possible to G Z) some 4 W Driving and some basic park and grabs. We also wanted to get all of the puzzle/unknown caches in St Arnaud as well as 100% of the multi caches in St Arnaud (cache Tectonics!). There was driving, boating, walking, rain, mist, sun, ducklings, eels and trout, sandflies (of course), beech trees and great views. Fun and sweat (no tears), a wasp sting and over 100 caches found for me. We all surpassed our targets and at the end of 2 full on days we returned to a cooler Blenheim than when we left tired out.
The last day of January and this January has probably been my most prolific with lots of great South Island caches, with a handful of N I ones thrown in for good measure. Todays plan is to start with some P &Gs, then off up the Pinch Gut for a nice tramp, then back to the car.
Time to go and grab the boat for this afternoons caching adventure so grab this cache, and those vital numbers, on the way to the house
Nice and easy, and close to accommodation for the find

[green] Capperz decided that this was the weekend for a marathon run on St Arnaud. Not sure why, except that base lodge there had a cancelled weekend and was free to grab. So he, I and GH6710 had an interesting time caching the surrounds. Rained on and off. The wet long grass meant that I had wet feet for the entire trip. Saw the insides and tops of clouds, some great views, lotsw of rabbits (or maybe just the one, many times over - it always did the same thing: safe on the side of the road, it decides to runs across just in front of the car). Also got to see robins, sandflies, no keas, sandflies and more sandflies. We managed to get GH to break his 50/day record, and over 120 for the whole trip. Saturday we climbed half way up Mt Robert in the morning then boated around Lake Rotoiti in a little yellow plastic dingy for the afternoon. Sunday was lonely cache day - some over 10 months since their last find. Many of these found with GH's 4x4, bumping over some very rough roads, my first real experience of four wheel driving. What an awesome weekend! Big Grin
This cache is just a hundred metres from where we are staying. That's not in itself a reason to get this cache, It's because it is needed for a puzzle cache. None the less, nice to grab Smile

02-Jan-15
Day 1 of our stay in St Arnaud. Didn't get cracking until we'd enjoyed a coffee from the General Store cafe, not bad either.
A beaut day, sunny, warm and lots of very relaxed looking people out and about.
We adopted cycle power for the day's caching and this one was a ride up - the hill - and grab.
Cache find straightforward, all in order; log signed, then safely re-hidden, just as found.
TB Ausie! Ausie! Ausie! [sic] Oi! Oi! Oi! not in this cache. As luck would have it I came across it a little later in the day in another cache and 'retrieved' from there.

We drove to the cache and managed to park right beside it (looked like it's a quiet road). As luck would have it, a couple came walking down the side road just as StreetWalker was looking. They soon walked on and he quickly made the find. Informationfor the bonus cache recorded, then reversed a little down the side road to make a U-turn. TFTC.

This was one of the most epic weeks ever, and definitely my most epic caching week ever.

Me and mum headed up on a holiday north to Nelson and very wider surrounds. In total during the trip, we found almost 500 caches! (470 odd I think, but final results are yet to be in! ) We covered about 3000 odd km I think too. Crazy! And had our absolute best caching day ever too at 160 found. Spend 9 days travelling, caching, and having the best time ever!!

So sorry about not so epic logs, as otherwise this would probably take me the rest of my life to log, especially with two big events to organise coming up! Eeek!!

Almost every single log we signed as 'Team Polak' to avoid needing to write out both usernames taking up space on logsheet - as well as precious caching time!! Haha.

This was it - one of the caches on our big day Smile

Consec caching day # 702

For the sake of sanity Wink we set off with sonia26642 for a crazy geocaching trip, aiming to cache until we drop. The main destination was Nelson and the ‘surrounding’ area, but then we ended up covering a few miles in three northernmost regions, plus a few in Canterbury. We were signing/stamping the log as 'Team Polak' or ‘TP’ for the two of us on this trip to save logbook space. We found a lot of different caches, city ones, road side, park side, up a hill and on an island, and we enjoyed every single one of them. It was good to be a professional thingfinder for a few days!

Today was to be our biggest day. S planned the route to cover the most possible easy to get P&G’s but we ended up not limiting ourselves to only those. D2.5? Why not? Let the brain have a bit of fun! D3? I am sure we can get there quickly! Razz

We had great fun and are grateful to all CO’s who placed caches for us to find, and help restore our sanity before returning to our other non-geocaching lives!!

Come and join us the next New Zealand geocaching MEGA event!! Register your interest now at www.nzmega2015.com to receive newsletter updates and be the first to know. It will be a great event, come and be a part of it!!
