After a Dickson commitment , I thought Id knock off some caches on mount majura, which was a short drive away. Totally undressed and unprepared, I thought Id find only the lower majura caches, but like always theres alway one more, and this made me go deeper and higher up mount majura, Kriss-crossing between caches, bush bashing. Thankfully, I was on a roll, and this cache was well worth it. Tftc

19-May-24
Its been a while since I had a mega day of geocaching, and I was due for my yearly attempt to set a new PB for caches found per day. I awoke at 5am this morning and headed out into the freezing cold on a cache grabbing extravaganza. I started the day focusing on some AL stages in and around North Canberra (freezing my fingers off), before going out to the Hughie Edwards VC Rest Area. I did the power trail along Majura Parkway getting all the way to IKEA! and then returned via a slog up Mt Majura. Highlights of the day were almost hitting a kangaroo 5mins after I left home, getting my shoes wet multiple times, climbing Mt Majura for the first time, and the delicious salted caramel biscuits I brought along. Oof, I'd been on my feet for a long time at this point, and struggled with this hill mightily!TFTC!

#4076 An energetic hike alongside the fence line and a quick find at GZ. Added my name, took in the view and retraced my steps back down to level ground. Thanks Noikmeister!

Great day for a ride. TFTC

Did these caches a while ago but have not gotten around to submitting the log for a while! Thanks for the adventure and lovely walk!

A beautiful Sunday morning for caching in Canberra. After a long exhausting day yesterday, a relaxed city day today. Certainly a fair walk up the hill!

This is another lovely spot and brought Omar Khayyam to mind - Here with a loaf of bread beneath the bough, a flask of wine a book of verse and thou.....- alas, no sitting around for us, caches call. A fave from me for this one, tftc.

09-Dec-20
This was a long walk gathering lots of bindies and seeds walking through the long grass. No snakes today. Was worth the walk getting to GZ. A great view. We nearly decided to have lunch here but thought about walking back up the hill on full tummies so had lunch when we got back to the gate. Thank you for the experience Noikmeister.

13-Oct-20
Found on a warm spring day with the GeoHound as we did a 9km ramble around the northern slopes of Mt Ainslie clearing all the traditional caches we'd yet to find. This was probably my favourite of all the ones we found today - a longish walk in, but beautiful views (even saw an aeroplane, quite a rare thing in this new Covid-world) and a straightforward find at GZ. This was the perfect place for GeoHound and I to stop and have a break. Thanks Noikmeister.

11-May-20
It was a nice morning for a walk and I decided to head this way and try for this cache. There were a few muggles out hiking, jogging and cycling, but once I left the main path I was on my own. A bit of cross country bush bashing and I was at GZ. The GPS took a minute to settle, but I just looked for potential places and soon had CIH. Log stamped and all replaced and I headed back a different way. I passed a bee hive that was in a log and it looked like some animal had scratched away at it to get to some honey. More muggles once I was back on the main trail. TFTC.

Cache 6120 on 3 May 2020.

Out on a walk with Fox in Jox and Geohound around Mt Ainslie . Have been meaning to grab these caches for ages. Beautiful day after a week of rain.

A bit of up and down to get to this one! Great views and a good walk.

Thanks Noikmeister for the cache and the fun!

Out on a nice walk with AngelG27 and my geohound, collecting some caches around Ainslie / Majura.

A fave for the spot. Today, it's so peaceful. TFTC NM

Doing caching in 2 parts today. Majura parkway bike path and some cross country bike riding. I really like this Cache and the great view. Dropped off a TB before heading to more Caches in the hills. TFTC

Had a day off, the weather was beautiful and I wanted to go for a hike... what more could you ask for? Oh, and there is that Mystery at the Museum that I hadn't finished yet! Hadn't cleared Mount Ainslie yet so it was the target for today. Started at 11, finished at 4:30 with all finds! Thanks to all the cache owners for the amazing variety of hides and field puzzles!

This was surely worth the hike uphil from the Planets serie. The majestic view just shortly befire the sunset....amazing!!

It’s been a few months since anyone has detoured here but not quite UNLOVED. Out for a few hours exploring Majura on the MTB and foot when required. Love the grand old trees. Here for the MEGA AND the NFF so it’s a big week. TFTC and nice views on this sunny arvo.

04-Nov-18
Nice find with a nice view to the south. The nearby fence is labelled electric so take care.

11-Sep-18
I headed off early for the Monday evening Omnia walk to Mount Majura which gave me three hours in which to seek out geocaches in that area that I hadn’t previously found, collecting 13 in all. I reckon that I explored most of the mountain and I came to appreciate the casuarina groves, the numerous kurrajong trees and the many fine views over the airport, North Canberra and Gungahlin.
This cache was a straightforward find, being in an obvious spot close to the coordinates. Thank you Noikmeister for installing and maintaining this cache.

21-Apr-18
An absolutely perfect day for a bike ride, so off I went from Gungahlin, across a corner of Goorooyaroo I had not seen before, past the gun clubs and across the lower reaches of Mt Majura. Lovely.

Coming up via Majura Mausoleum, I decided following the fence line to this outpost, pushing my bike, was the best way to go. Maybe it was, but it seemed really hard work and kind of stupid at the time. Anyway, I eventually got there and did that 'finding the cache' thing that makes this game so worthwhile. The final cache of the day and time to head back to the aforementioned Gungahlin. A good day. TFTC Smile

31-Mar-18
On the north side of Mount Ainslie for a spot of Easter geocaching with Sumbloke, and on trail was this Mountain Outpost. We were having issues with phone-GPS which made our cache finding all the more involved... a stump looked likely, then a rock pile with a small cross in it - we didn't spend too much time with either of those. It didn't take too long to spot the appropriate international caching sign (rocks!) and shortly afterwards we were on our way again, intent on finding just one more cache for the day. Thanks for the cache Noikmeister

#1606. 10 days in a row.

I headed out with Gumby Maca to collect a few caches around the north side of Mt Ainslie. We got a fair bit of walking in and he told me that if I'm not careful I'll end up getting fit...

We spotted a rather prominent location when we got to this peak. But there didn't seem to be any decent hiding place there. We then checked a couple of nearby locations before finding it.

Busy up here today. Bumped into 2 horse riders and 2 walkers. Everyone was interested in what I was looking for, so I told them with honesty and they knew exactly what I was doing when I explained.

Aquilus1, AddictedGamer and I were in the area. We followed the directions of the cache and followed the fence line to GZ. So whose buried here? And interesting area. Nice place actually. Tftc!!!

17-Sep-17
Out with Aquilus1 and dty73 caching the area. We had not much trouble getting to this one, except for three kangaroos who kept jumping and stopping in front of us. I found the area interesting with a nice quick find. Tftc!!!

17-Sep-17
A nice walk down from the gate and a few young roos that seemed very keen to be on the other side of the fence. Great location up here and the views are nice to. Thanks for the cache Noikmeister.

**Mission - Lower Mount Ainslie/Majura**
22 Trads (21+1DNF) and 1 Mystery
Having some free on my hand I thought I would go out and collect some caches. I made my trail (about 15kms) and went out to get them.
12th of the day. A hard hike up a steep hill but it was well worth it for the views. Tftc

#6236 @1625
On other occasions, when in the vicinity, I didn't have enough time to collect this one, but I was determined to do so today. I approached from the south for my final climb of a long, rewarding days caching. The cache was soon found and I lingered a while to appreciate the spot. I'm giving it a favourite point to encourage others to visit. TFTC.

Nice cache with much loot for energetic geokids and beautiful views. Thanks noikmeister. Smile

#3507 - 17:35; I managed to escape from the household chores and visitors for a late afternoon caching run and decided to collect my closest to home unfound traditional and solved puzzle. It was a nice afternoon/evening for a wander around the hills and all up took about 1 1/2 hours from geomobile to geomobile. I had done my research and followed the CO's advice and stuck to the main track. At one point nearing the water reservoir, I was beginning to think that maybe I had missed something as I was moving away from GZ. I needn't have worried as a less well maintained track branched off in the right direction. Once I reached the gate it was then a pleasant stroll across to GZ for a quick find and sign. Nice spot, so I dropped a GC to encourage others to make the trek. TFTC noikmeister Smile

Very interesting location indeed, I really want to know what the grave is for D: its a mystery....

Lucky the cache wasn't "dead" though and found quite easily Smile This was a bit of a detour off my route today, but definitely worth every minute! Thanks noikmeister

Wandered out to this cache. What an interesting little spot. The unmarked grave here is odd. I wonder who or what ended up here ? Dropped off a tb. TFTC noikmeister.

I am so far on logging all of my caches that I have to run a macro to catch up. I do apologies but thank you very much for your efforts to put out caches.

I joined KittyKatch and Joolay with the Canberra Bushwalking Club on a nice hike up Mt Ainslie and was lucky that the track went past a few caches on the way. We were pretty happy that we found Majura Mausoleum. It didn't take long before I saw the container, log book signed and hid the container again. tftc noikmeister

Found on a walk with the Canberra Bushwalk Club across the back of Mt Ainslie. A beaut spot because of the views. Cache in good condition. Thanks again Noikmeister Smile

Out for an afternoon walk and caching. I took the TB 'Ugg". TFTC.

20-Jul-14
Passed some roos on the way in, they were enjoying the green grass and dusk sun.

Wandered up and found the grave, then the cache soon after. We took the cache over to a log to pick through, it was good to have views, a bigger cache, and a nice area. As we were doing this, an old bloke approached from the direction of the airport. After having to surreptitiously concealing the cache by getting some stuff out of a pack, we said hello as he passed by. I went off to get some shots. Walking back, we saw the bloke had his hat off, and was standing by the grave. He was there for some time, before returning the way he came. Dropped a TB and rehid the cache.

Maybe the cache should be moved a bit further away, given the grave has significance for someone?

Spent the day walking around Mt Ainslie and Mt Majura completing the caches I had not found previously. TFTC.

Another attempt to combine a CBC evening walk on the E slopes of Mt Ainslie with a little geocaching in a new area. As usual, mixed success and hopefully no offence taken by the walk leader. Not sufficient time to look at a couple of cache sites. With brother-in-crime bonek and a little help from mr_roo. TFTC.

22-Jan-14
I trekked up the hill from the Mausoleum. My GPS kept wanting me to go over the fence. I read the logs whilst admiring the views and then looked for the grave that they mentioned. I found the cache nearby and nearly 35m away from where my gps was telling me to look. Oh well, at least I found it. TFTC noikmeister.

Our 800th cache, so we thought we should make this find a memorable one-either mentally or physically. This one was the physical kind.
It was a mighty hot afternoon, and no-one else was crazy enough to be out on the mountain today at around 3pm, so we had the tracks to ourselves. We did this as a run, parking at the suggested waypoint, and heading up from there.
The tiny grasshoppers were plentiful and made the grass rustle as we approached; even the roos were hidden in the afternoon sun today.
We stopped at GZ-enjoyed the view from all angles and then set off for more adventures. We had looked at this one earlier in the week when we did "Majura Mausoleum", but decided that today's approach would be better.
Thanks noikmeister.
A favourite from us.

Not a jogger. A trudger. Made it eventually. Nice and breezy was the pay off. Had lunch and then carry on!! Strange that a grave is all the way up there.

04-May-13
Found this one on a MTB bike and hike geomission through the reserve. Locked up the bike at the base of the hill and hiked up. Had a group of friendly choughs following behind for a little while scratching in the leaf litter. Arrived at GZ and GPS wen a bit mental. Looked in the obvious spots before making the find. I'm curious to know the story behind the particular group of rocks here. Anyone know [?] Thanks for the cache and fantastic views, noikmeister!

Found with Torrevieja on a glorious day - the second of eight for the day. We headed straight across from 'In Memory of' - why bother following tracks when you can traipse through the scrub! We were curious about who or what is marked at GZ. TFTC!

Out today with Dopplefrog, Batgirl, Madrumager and the Geofam, what a glorious day to go caching. Cold and windy up here today, good views back towards the AP as well. Onwards to some solved puzzles.

I remember the location having been to the first mountain outpost some time ago and agree it was a location worth re-visiting.

Found today enmass with Doppelfrog, the JManJezza clan (or parts thereof), MadRummager and associates in a wander around the northern side of Mt Ainslie. Our associates had to leave us and trek back towards the car at this point ('movie tickets' imagine that) but not before a suggestion to consider 'Rock of Ages' which seemed fitting being another Squirrel cache. But who would get the points for the convert? Squirrel or us? Razz

Reperio at 1425.

Having been fortunate enough to complete 'Mountain Outpost' before it was retired, I was looking forward to returning today on my walk around Mt Ainslie. Whilst it was raining when I started out, the weather gods were kind enough to let me walk up here and get to GZ before just starting to sprinkle its drops again. This is a beautiful view from, and deceiving how good it is until you get right to the top. Great to see another cache here for all to enjoy again.

Gratias noikmeister.

Second find in the area with fitzy and others who already found it as we walked around the area.

5212. [font=Century Gothic][green]A very muggy day so thank you for the gate reference. Last time I came here I was much unfitter (hmm - spell check doesn't like that word Surprised[B)]) and went a much more difficult way. This was pretty straight forward after having done a couple of views - cleaning off this mound again. As promised - some views and a couple of take offs experienced. Then I re-dressed and watched some planes lift off the tarmac. An interesting spot and happy to come back - cheers.

Find number three for the morning, sandwiched between Pacmania caches! We had planned to do these a couple of days ago, but when the temperature was climbing toward 35 degrees later that day we had piked out, thinking that a trek by bike might be more fun. And the riding was fabulous today, with some great downhill swoops. And I must admit I had forgotten how delightful it was up here, with wonderful views, everlastings out in flower and lovely stately old trees. Two cache guardians too - a bluey near the grave, and a shingleback down by the main track. All in all a very enjoyable cache, thanks Norkmeister. Left Dvixen's TB.
