9 July 2023 11:09 TFTC Skindo for placing this cache, number 12756 for me. Replacement log provided as original one soaked. Just 49 more needed to get to 1000!
Out and about today to celebrate my birthday. A bit of a weird vibe this year, what with all the issues around Covid-19, but with Level 3 in place we had a bit of latitude so long as the Rules were strictly observed. Stay within our regions, and within 75km. Stay within our bubbles. Practice social distancing. Those last two were easy as I didn't see another person all day.
I picked out a few caches to do today that I knew would be reasonably remote, and not likely to have been handled in a while. Most of what I found today hadn't been found in at least 6 weeks, and some of them not since last year. And I had my trusty bottle of hand sanitizer with me.
This was a straightforward find and there were no issues with the cache or the log, which was signed before returning everything back as I found it and moving onto the next.
Thank you for placing this cache.

I was fooled by the local community hall into thinking this was on the other side of the road - B put me right. TFTC Skindo!
Today was “SHIELD” day. Yeetrees, -gonefishing- and I were heading up to attempt the SHIELD series of caches on the back roads of Manawatu. It was an early start (5.35am) out of Wellington. After over 7 hours of caching we achieved the series plus a few more. My personal tally for the day – 117 finds. Thankyou to all the CO’s of the caches found.
Apologies for the generic logging.
Apologies for the generic logging.
This cache has intrigued me for quite some years but we never made the time to take the small detour from the main track. Today, this was the main target, along with The Big Dipper and a bunch of Marisa's caches. Thanks for keeping this one going, Skindo.
Up for the Mega for the week, had a great day in the Bulls and the sunrounding areas many thanks to the cache placer's - Bitsprayer
I had some spare time while in town visiting some of the rellies, so I thought Id do a few of the easy drivebys in the area. I had a great day and grabbed a heap of caches. Lots of damp and wet caches, but not surprising given the weather. I did find some that had been replaced, but found the original nearby. Signed one or the other depending on which I found first. Thanks to all the CO's for a great day and apologies for the generic log.
A quick find here on a drive north of Feilding to score some of my as-yet-unfound caches. Interesting history on the signboard. Signed log, TFTC
On my way from Ohakune to Palmy North, I wanted to find some caches along the way. This was the last one on the way; it's interesting to see how a complete town was planned here and never really existed after planning. Thanks for hiding!
On a wee trip down to the area doing some mini trails, this one fell within range, so we grabbed it while passing. Signed 2BB 1BB for 2 Bulbars and Blenheim Bear. Mission accomplished, this one is a wrap. Thanks for the cache from Blenheim Bear!

On a weekend mission with Cats&Dragons, for a bit of a numbers run along the new trails around the Northern Manawatu area, and anything else along the way. As usual these types of trips mean maximizing caching time and minimizing sleep time. So with a 2am start time Saturday morning we left home and headed South, and not getting back home til 8.30pm Sunday night. Some numbers for the trip as I know we all like caching stats are:
* 1450km traveled.
* 286 caches found (192 on Saturday, 94 on Sunday) with only 3 DNF's
* 4 hours sleep
* With a 3 hour each way drive to the Caching area, so about 32 hours of caching in the 42 hours we were away at an average of nearly 9 caches per hour, this isn't including stopping for fuel and coffee!!!
So a huge thanks to all the CO's for the placements, and for the reason to see some more of our wonderful country, we saw some pretty amazing places. Sorry for the copy and paste logs. We signed the log books HKCD, or HKCBC&D.

Interesting spot. Reminds me a bit of the original town plan for Collingwood in the South Island. Cheers and TFTC
Last day of the Mega event long weekend and decided to grab a couple more nearby caches before heading off home. Decided to call in here as we needed this cache and another just up the road to fill in some gaps for the 40° South Latitude Challenge cache. A quick find at GZ after reading the information on the board about the town that never was. TFTC skindo.
Fielding Day 2
They say that life is not all about geocaching, so we did the right thing & spent the morning with the relations looking around town. After lunch we heading back to where we had been the previous day as a stack of the new caches had been published.
Once again it was a great tiki tour of the farming area, lots of lambs to be seen in the paddocks.

I had parked the caravan up in Marton and travelled over to North Fielding to pick up as many caches as I could. Nice bit of local history.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
Attended the local CITO and then collected a few caches while in the area with tmann421 today.
Really enjoyed this spot. Like being brought to places of historical interest like this. Took time to read the board and look around to imagine what this place could have looked like.
TFTC skindo and for bringing me to this very interesting place, Replaced the full and falling to pieces log.

One of the many caches we found on our campervan journey from Lower Hutt to Tauranga. A mighty and enjoyable journey through many great and iconic parts of the north island. Many thanks to the many CO's for the great cache placements and for bringing us to new places. Sorry for the generic log.
Log really needs replacing. It's almost full but it's very very fragile.
Also the lid on the container screams "I'm over here, are you blind?", you might want to blacken it.

Found in a wet and windy conditions and was inappropriate dressed for the occasion as when my plans feel through I took the spare time to get a few caches that were in my close to home list that I was missing. Was good to learn the history of this place, as I have never paid attention when passing though previously. Tftc.
Visited this picturesque valley yesterday and enjoyed the cache and the history.
Thanks for the cache skindo! TNLN SL

Was watched intently by a herd of cows as I retrieved this. When I left they moved closer as if they were checking what I was doing
Pick this cache up just as the rain arrived. A quick find and signing was in order to avoid getting too wet.
Thanks for the placement at this historic spot.

Quiet and glorious night. Quick find and then one more before heading back to Feilding before the petrol light came on.
A quick find thanks.
Time to head home, next stop Palmerston North.

Another great piece of history discovered via geocaching. Very ambitious plans judging by the display board. TFTC
Cache 39 of 42 - Out with Tommygun9 & Spudnz on an afternoon excursion to the mountains. Got to experience a lot of different climates on today's adventure.. Rain, hail, sun, wind and even a bit of snow thrown in for good measure! Cool bit of history on this cache - Thanks FTC!
Very interesting site that I never would've been to had it not been for Geocaching. Nice quick find my Hunterhilson just outside my quick search area.

A pleasant afternoon's drive,sunny and warm..thanks for the history of this place.Found with Geodatum.TFTC!
Whizzed right past this one first time round!! Was mislead by the photograph, so was looking for a building!
After turning around and retracing my route - found cache without too much of a problem.
Pity building is not there though?

On the road again with Gap (of Fap and Gap). Up at the crack of dawn to travel down-country to an event in Kimbolton... The things we do for an August Souvenir.
Wait a minute Mr Postman... This one took a while to find. It was buried under a mass of grass but Gap managed to extract and sort it out.

Another slice of interesting history. How many people pass here and not even notice these historic sites? I'm glad I have caching to open my eyes a bit more.

Needed to do an event cache to get our August souvenir challenge. Problem was, where is an event cache close by. Mrs Fap found one 300km away in Kimbleton, there appeared to be nothing closer. Phoned Squirrel Nutcas who was a keen starter so Kimbolton it was. All this way so planned to pick up a few more on the way. Left Rotorua at 6am and back home by 8.30pm with 58 caches found, not a bad day at all.

TFTC
Great information board and tidbit of past history, a very ambitious town plan as it turned out!
Thanks for the reason to visit.
Thanks for the reason to visit.
This one certainly didn't pop into view like a typical Skindo cache, but I got there in the end.
Interesting history, thanks skindo for inviting us to stop here and look at this sign with its very ambitious street plan for a town that never happened.
A fairly quick find, and it was interesting to read the history of the mail service and see the extent of the proposed township. TFTC
Quick find. Fifteen black steers watching me, from over the fence - returned cache safely. Thanks for the cache.
Very nippy and very nosey four legged muggles. Took a short while to find while on a couple of caches today. At least u can hear cars a long time before they get to u.
Stopped with the grandkids for a picnic lunch at the community hall. Found the cache after hunting high and low
I am building a new cache of another town that never existed, and discovered that Google maps has some great data - town plans! Skindo - if you want to incorporate this image in your cache page gimme a call, I can give you some instructions. In the meantime folks, check out the gallery!
Nice interesting spot... had a chat with the great grandson of Mr Cunningham who was checking his property as I made the grab. It's still in the family.
It's surprising how much farmland is out here. Scenic in it's own dry way. A bit of a sad story this one!

#3613. Looks like we already have the plans for future sub-divisions, perhaps. TNLNSL. TFTC.
A variation on Skindo's "hall-mark". Interesting history. Found with JDSavannah.

31st August Daffodil Day
Lovely spring day so took my 94 year old mother for a day out driving around the countryside. She loved it and I saw country side I had never seen before.
Interesting bit of history.
Cows the other paddock today! TFTC

An interesting cache to visit. Quite different from the plans for the area. tftc
Had to watch out for the electric fence up today. Checked a favourite Skindo place but no go. Had a mob of moosical bovines come to talk to us but the head bovine told the others to hang back cos he wanted a one-on-one. LOL Big boy too! Quickly located once we spotted the telltale site over the road. SL TFTC
TFTC, first time we had been down here so was nice to see somewhere different!

Interesting signboard. Mapping out its description onto the real land - this would have been a reasonably large town if it happen as far as the town planning went. Found with Etherlord on a supposed to be but wasnt rainy day.

Next stop, the icecream shop!

Was in Fielding for work and thought I might take a short ride after finishing my work in the area. Decided that I would take a short drive out to the new cache at Stormy Point and see if I could get the FTF but I had a funny feeling that I might be a bit slow today.
As I was making my way back I noticed that there was a cache not too far off the main road so I thought that I would go and check it out, arriving at the published co-ordinates I spotted the reason for why that there was a cache here. Well what can I say, definitely a great spot for a cache, wouldn't have even known about this spot if it wasnt for Geocaching, well done on Skindo for finding this very historical spot which definitely deserves a cache.
Managed to find the cache quickly without any issues, thanks for placing a cache here and for bringing me to such an important spot, TFTC TNLNSL (4464)

A very quick find while heading home today. What an interesting bit of history. Shame not many people would get to see it on this back road - apart from cachers!

Find #1238. The last cache for the day as the sun started to set - a quick find, but we had to be stealthy as there was a person sitting in a nearby 4WD reading their paper. We cleared the cobwebs off the sign... there's some interesting history here. Thanks skindo. SL TFTC.
Found with kiwi_flyer. I was surprised to see the electric fence up infront of the Post office. Found the Bulls in the field opposite rather interesting *grin*.

What a great story! The town that never was. Loved the little history lesson...again. The Bulls certainly looked interested...
Heading home from doing the Tongariro Alping crossing the day before so detoured over vinager hill to clean up some caches over this way. Can only say "what if" this town had gone ahead the place would look totally different. Easy find, Signed log then replaced. TFTC
