I'm visiting New Zealand for a tour around the country . I have already visited many places on the North Island. While enjoying the sightseeing I also visit some caches. This is one of them. Thank you for showing me the place and thank you for the cache . Greetings from Switzerland .

18-Aug-23
Yesterday we found 100 caches and today we are aiming for another 100 so we are off in search of mostly S.H.I.E.L.D caches with the odd one or two thrown in that we might be passing. Please excuse the mostly cut and paste logs, we are on day 7 of a 9 day mission around the Wairapa and Manawatu in which we found over 600 caches, its getting hard to remember exactly which one was which. Thanks for placing Skindo

A nice quick find. No sign of Ruapehu today. Thanks for placing your cache.

Ms_KR and I were in Auckland for a few days visiting family, and now we are on the trek home. We left Ohakune @ about 0900 and got into the Wellington camping ground just after 1730. We had at different times during the day, wind and rain but mostly overcast skies. A great day for a cruise.

Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. .

A skindo cache. Now there’s a blast from the past. Well away from the Wairarapa too. I do like the road name. I wonder how Mr O’Day got to be called Peep.

Easy find today. Nice countryside views on a lovely sunny day.

21-Jul-21
#1642. Yesterday was S.H.I.E.L.D day #1. Today was day 2. I had started solving this Geo-art series in 2019 but never made the time to start collecting. Yesterday, I knocked 22 of them off, with no DNF’s. Today another 14, with 2 DNF's. A great series.

Having driven up from Wellington in the rain on Monday, it was nice to wake up again this morning at our B&B in Halcombe to more sunshine, same as yesterday. With GB Leader along as navigator and occasional cache spotter, it was back on the back roads again, after a lovely coffee at the iconic Rusty Radiator café in Halcombe.

Some great scenery along the way - saw lots of trees, birds & animals, and a reasonable amount of traffic.

As it's starting to get dark, this will be the final find of today, at 5.08pm. Back to civilisation now - Whanganui to be precise.

Tftc.

26-Oct-19
The crazy Labour Weekend plan is now in full swing. McJandals, NZFlossy & Davidson Clan are joining me for 29 TMGT Caches, the Shield & Stickman series and what ever we can find in between. Almost all the caches were found quickly and in good condition with exceptions to those not equipped with water proof paper... some were unsignable and some we were able to replace. We’ve signed individually or as TeamBOP for expedience. I’m using a Cachly logging template so it's mostly cut'n'paste but I genuinely appreciate the work put into these caches. I’d also like to acknowledge watcache, mar1sa & the TMGT volunteers who have given this trip focus, and all the other COs who have made this trip such an adventure - TFTC

**Trip Stats:** 1 car, 4 Cachers, 90 hrs, 16hrs sleep, 2481Kms, 29 TMGT finds, 238 total Geocache finds.
**Route:** Tauranga - Rotorua - New Plymouth - Whanganui - Palmerston North - Wellington - Napier - Gisborne - Rotorua - Tauranga

26-Oct-19
With no mega this year, a plan was hatched with Team BOP to come to the lower Nth Island to get some numbers knocked off, so here we are and loving it!! I am logging using the Cachly app template so please excuse generic logging along the way. It’s just my way of keeping track, but I do genuinely thank each and every one of you cache owners for taking the time and energy to place these cache. Many Thanks for bringing me here. Cheers

On a caching weekend with McJandals, Phillip Perry, and Davidson clan. After staying the night at a Airbnb we got on the road early to pick up the Shield caches. Enjoyed the puzzles and then collecting them as a team - Team BOP. Lots of fun and laughs on some back roads and even picking up a few extras. Thank to the COs for bringing us here and creating some great puzzles and caches Nice to do a few extras with the Sheild . TFTC

Road trip yeah!

Recently friends of mine moved to Northland, only they had too many vehicles and too much stuff to take themselves. The solution? "Hey John, fancy driving one of our cars up north for us and making a long weekend of it?"
So now that I have arrived I can get a chance to catch up with all my logging for my journey which allowed me to clear up a few caches I've wanted to get by taking a slightly convoluted route, and grabbing whatever other ones I decide to stop at, but then hey, isn't that what road trips are all about?

I haven't been on these roads since my mad couple of days back in December when looking at the nearby SHIELD series of caches. I remember how tight and twisty these roads were, and I was very glad to hardly see any other vehicles today. Stopping near GZ, the cache was a very quick find. So with the appropriate caching admin taken care of, I was back on my way again, with that warm feeling you get when something is finally completed.

Thanks for bringing me here, which I surely would never have done without the incentive of finding a cache.

Out on a sunny Autumn afternoon with geodatum, stardust718, and pgcnz to do a large chunk of the S.H.I.E.L.D puzzle caches and decided to stop here for a quick bite to eat for lunch before heading onward. Didn't take too long to find the cache and thankfully the road was quiet today with only a single car passing the entire time we were stopped. TFTC skindo.

04-May-19
Logged while on a road trip with Team G.A.S.P. to log part of the S.H.I.E.L.D series. Thanks Geodatum, Mr All7ofus and Stardust718 for a great day out. Quick bite to eat with fantastic views.

04-May-19
This was a rest stop for us before heading out on a SHIELD mission. Didn't take long to locate the cache.

Today I joined forces with geodatum, all7ofusnz, and pgcnz to form team GASP. Our mission was 46 SHIELD caches and a few extras along the way to bring my total for the day to 51 caches found. It was a very successful outing with 3.5 hours caching time and only 1 DNF (a traditional on the way home).

29-Apr-19
This was the last one for the day after doing quite a few of the SHIELD caches. Time to head back to the diesel bowser and then onto the snail shell.

Cheers for the cache.

24-Feb-19
This was one of the caches not on the sheild trail but here at the very obvious placement there no cache so we put in aa new pill bottle as there had been several DNF previous also.. What a totally unexpected day and it was just great! Even the weather was right… no wind no rain and yet the light recent rain had dampened the roads so we didn’t get covered in dust. Ideal!
We visited about 63 caches leaving about 26 to go before time ran out on us, so these will have to wait for another visit some time in the future. I found them a little disconcerting- in that I expected them to be in a sequential run but this was not the case but with guidance we traversed all the correct roads etc for the caches that we did and also visited one Trad. Signed another new cache yet to be released and located a multi on the route home. So a very fruitful day of laughs and great company- thank you to the two of you.

23-Feb-19
Found while out doing the shield series
many thanks

08-Jan-19
Had no luck here at all and notice that it has not been found for some months which is surprising considering how many cachers must have passed this spot recently. Either they had already found it, didn't stop or they have not logged a DNF for of course it is there and we just haven't found it.

08-Mar-18
Off on a drive to Palmy North, grabbing some easy driveby's on the way. Thanks.

#3959. I headed north today with Infoferret and her two boys to attend the two events held at Renfrew Rd and up at Rangiwahia hut in the Ruahine Ranges. It was great exploring this part of the Manawatu region. On the way home to Wellington now and time to stop and pick up a few caches. Parked nearby and admired the great views. Interesting name for a road. The cache took a few minutes to locate as we missed it on the first sweep. But a more careful feel in the long grass soon had the container in hand. Signed and replaced the cache as found. Thanks for hiding it here skindo.

04-Feb-17
On a weekend mission with Cats&Dragons, for a bit of a numbers run along the new trails around the Northern Manawatu area, and anything else along the way. As usual these types of trips mean maximizing caching time and minimizing sleep time. So with a 2am start time Saturday morning we left home and headed South, and not getting back home til 8.30pm Sunday night. Some numbers for the trip as I know we all like caching stats are:
* 1450km traveled.
* 286 caches found (192 on Saturday, 94 on Sunday) with only 3 DNF's
* 4 hours sleep
* With a 3 hour each way drive to the Caching area, so about 32 hours of caching in the 42 hours we were away at an average of nearly 9 caches per hour, this isn't including stopping for fuel and coffee!!!

So a huge thanks to all the CO's for the placements, and for the reason to see some more of our wonderful country, we saw some pretty amazing places. Sorry for the copy and paste logs. We signed the log books HKCD, or HKCBC&D.

Found on a >41 hour non-stop geo roadtrip from Wellington to Auckland via Cape Palliser and a whole bunch of skinny winding Wairarapa roads, in the esteemed company of slieschke, mike-miss and cretti. We picked up our rental car, dubbed the Idiot Box, and assumed our new identity as Team CRT, shortly after 8am at Wellington Airport and headed north.

We first headed to Porirua Harbour to take on the resident Kiwi geo art trail before heading over to the southern Wairarapa and Cape Palliser where we visited the light house at about midnight and tried our best to avoid seals while searching for a few caches along the southern most shore line of the North Island.

We headed up past Greytown and Carterton, focussing on caching areas west of SH2 this trip. There were some highlight caches, particularly around Carterton (I think) and some way up in the hills looking over the whole area from Masterton to Martinborough.

It was daylight again by the time we hit Masterton and we decided to hit fast forward and skip a planned area (will just have to come back again!) and shot through to Palmerston North where we got back into the swing of things.

We took the back-road up to Mangaweka, discovering some really fanstastic little places along the way, like a picnic area and waterfall way down in a canyon, and then we continued via Taihape, across and up through Owhango, to get some really old caches, and then north through Te Awamutu and back to Auckland to drop off the Idiot Box at the airport.

And of course, despite it then being after 1am on Monday morning, and raining kinda heavily, slieschke and I couldn't resist driving over to the North Shore for an FTF on a cache published earlier in the evening.

Thanks to all the cache owners along the way, even if we couldn't find your cache - all part of the adventure! Sorry for the copy/paste log, but just too many caches to remember *all* of them individually. TFTC!!! Big Grin

31-Aug-14
A plan was hatched for yet another extreme, fly down, drive back caching weekend from Wellington to Auckland. This time, Cretti and slieschke joined in on what turned out to be another epic road trip with myself and funkymunkyzone (our third trip this year).
We all met up at Wellington Saturday morning as i ended up being on an earlier flight to the rest of the crew. Jumped in our rental which happened to be a Ssangyong SUV this time round and headed straight to Porirua Harbour to hit the Kiwi GeoTrail. From there on, we zig zagged our way through Wiararapa to Cape Palliser, back up through Martinborough, Masterton, Ekatahuna, Pahiatua, Palmerston North, Taihape, Te Awamutu and back home to Auckland in the early hours of Monday morning.

To save time and log space, we stamped the logs as "Team CRT" travelling in the idiot box for the weekend. Lots of laughs were had over our 1500km+ / 41 hour road trip which consisted mainly of narrow gravel roads, some of which had spectacular scenery and views. Sorry for the copy/paste logs as its now all abit of a blur having only a few short naps in between. Many thanks to all the cache owners who have placed caches for us to find on another epic little adventure. TFTC! Big GrinBig Grin

Found in the company of Cretti, funkymunkyzone and mike-miss on a crazy Wellington to Auckland road trip in the idiot box. We traveled via the Kiwi GeoTrail in Porirua, the Wairarapa including Cape Palliser, the Manawatu, and back to Auckland via the western side of the Central Plateau. Signed as Team CRT. Despite very little sleep the weekend was a blast!

Thanks!

On the road again with Gap (of Fap and Gap). Up at the crack of dawn to travel down-country to an event in Kimbolton... The things we do for an August Souvenir.

Heading homeward now and a lot of distance to cover. I wondered about this cache name, then spotted the nearby road sign. Didn't pay much attention to the views as it was starting to cloud over. The cache was a quick find, thanks to the hint. TFTC.

24-Aug-14
Needed to do an event cache to get our August souvenir challenge. Problem was, where is an event cache close by. Mrs Fap found one 300km away in Kimbleton, there appeared to be nothing closer. Phoned Squirrel Nutcas who was a keen starter so Kimbolton it was. All this way so planned to pick up a few more on the way. Left Rotorua at 6am and back home by 8.30pm with 58 caches found, not a bad day at all.

Heading southward again, this time on Christmas Day and dealing with a dot day - we just had to do some caching. This was the fourth one for the day.

Cache find was straightforward. Cache in order; log signed, re-hidden safely, just as found.

A MEGA Adventure

Both Nova Lightning and myself had set ourselves caching targets that we were hoping to meet in time for the NZMEGA in a few weeks. So with a plan in progress and fuel in the tank away we set.
Departed home at 6pm Friday, returned home 3.30pm Monday, 7 hours sleep approx 470 caches and a great adventure.

Thanks to all those that have placed caches especially Skindo as I think we gave his caches a bit of a nudge

Thanks for a great weekend of Caching and Bull.

Mega Weekend

It all started about a month ago when Cats&Dragons brought up the idea of heading down the line to collect 350+ caches. We both had targets that we wanted to meet before attending the NZ Mega. Plans and locations were drawn up and puzzles were begun to be solved. It took me a while to get my head around a few of the puzzles and with the help of a cacher I was soon on a roll.

The weekend finally came and we departed Hamilton at 6pm on a Friday night. 3days, 2,000km, & 11hrs sleep, later 472 caches collected. Thanks to all those who's caches I found especially Skindo with a huge number laid.

I have a house guest from the USA, and John wants to see a bit of New Zealand. What better way than to intoduce him to geocaching via some rural caches? A beautifully sunny but cool day for a drive around the country. By the end of the day John was hooked and had created his login. Alas, he could not count today's caches as he didn't have a geonick yet to sign any logs.
Searched the sign, just because it seemed a good idea, then checked down the fenceline. John found it, and we moved on to the next.
