#5 for the day looking for caches with Motorhome parking and only need 1 arm to retrieve. Everything nice and dry. No fences to cross. TFTC
Didn't take long to find. Had to make a little detour on our road trip to grab this one.Tftc
I haven’t done many caches this year so took the opportunity while away this weekend to get at least one.
I was a bit disappointed with the views of the river is mainly views of trees. However got a close up with the train tunnel.
Cache in good condition

Thanks skindo for the cache. It’s #1674 for us. We found your cache on 30 December 2022.
Driven past here so many times, decided to stop for once. Of course, back in the day, we drove right past here all the time…then they moved the road

Found today with zayn2016 while visiting the nearby cemetery. Thank you for the cache
#1965. Day 7 of a week’s sojourn in the Volcanic Plateau, based in Turangi. GB Leader and I spent this morning finishing an AdLab on our way south on SH 1, with the holiday traffic going both ways quite full on. A quadruple whammy: end of “red light” restrictions, fine weather, start of Easter AND school holidays!
Half way home, after stops in Taihape and Mangaweka, got a call from Itchyfeet2020 to rendezvous here. Good to catch up and get the last cache of this trip.
Tftc.

Rogerw1nz and GB Leader were heading south and I'm heading north. This cache was in between us so a met up at the Rangatiki River views was arranged. Some people meet at cafes, others caches. Great to see you guys, matching t shirts so photo taken with a hint of the view to TFTC.
On the way home to Chch from the Mega. Helped by KR and his Garmin as someone has used all my fone data. ?!** Tftc
A nice quick find thanks. A nice bit of a view of the river. Cheers.
Time for another trip to the North Island for Ms_KR and me. Well We got the car back, but there were too many check engine lights on for comfort, so the autoelectrician was called and he sorted the issue. Yus back on the road again.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

Today I travelled up to Horopito to replace my missing PWGT geocache at Smash Palace, with the added incentive of a new Reach the Peak mountain to climb.
Having completed that assignment, I geocached around Ohakune and up & down the Turoa mountain road.
I’d passed this one over ‘til my return home as it involved back-tracking.
So many hours later, this is my sixteenth and last find of the day, at 16:30.
I’ve achieved the summit of Mt Aconcagua with this cache to spare giving me a nice round 8,000 m.
Not much to view from location nowadays with the natural growth. Cache is in good order. TFTC

Find number 7767. My daughter is doing the Te Araroa trail And I have been a support person for a few days as she paddled the Whanganui [I was the other in the canoe] and cycled from Pipiriki to Whanganui. A 7pm crossing of the river at Koitiata where I met her and we camped for the night. An early start as she set off to walk to Bulls and I cached my way back to Hamilton. Doing just specific caches.
Nice quick find here. Previously I was on SH1 so never looked for it. Thank you for the placement.

One of 13 caches found today travelling between Ohingaiti and Te Kuiti (almost). Backtracked slightly to pick up this one. Fortunately I figured out I needed to go down the side road to get to this one rather than approach it from the main road. A reasonably quick find. #4300. TFTC.
On my way back to Wellington (from a few days in Rotorua) and knowing that this cache was here finally made the effort to turn off the main road and head down here for the find. TFTC.
Signed LE as I am with LNM1961. Didn’t go over the first fence and couldn’t see the second fence but coordinates spot-on. Good view of the cliffs across the river. TFTC.
A Sunday drive along back roads to Mangaweka to find some caches and now down some side roads on my way home. Thanks skindo for the cache.
Had the day off work and Mrs Rubbishparty visiting for the school holidays so headed out towards Hunterville for some caching. Quick detour here to collect this cache. The hint suggested to us that we might be jumping the first fence but that would not be a good idea. Cache soon found and log all fine. Thanks Skindo for the smiley.
A lovely stop with beautiful views for lunch on a sunny crisp autumn day. A quick find before continuing on to Turangi.
I had parked up the snail shell up in Marton it was time for a northerly road trip to get some of the PWGT caches and any others that got in the way.
This is one of the others.A freight train went through.while I was signing the log.
Cheers for the cache.

It wasn't necessary to cross any fences or climb any trees... which is great because I've already climbed a fair bit today: to the Tippy Top in fact!
Co-ords fairly good but still in the third place I looked.

Presumably as a result of changes since the cache was placed, the hint is now dangerously misleading. There is only a single fence which looks close to the top of a cliff and should not be crossed. The cache was a quick easy find without crossing any fence. TFTC
I am roadtripping up to Auckland this weekend for a mates 50th birthday, and have broken my journey up a bit by stopping for a few caches along the way (as you do lol!).
This road is one of those places that I have driven on countless times is the past when it was still SH1, but never stopped at before. One of the bonuses of caching is that it makes you look at places differently, so I was happy to make this one of my stops today.
A quick and easy find here today is the obvious location as per the Hint. There was no-one else around so I was able to sign the log etc before replacing it all as found and then getting back on my way again.
Thanks for placing this cache.

Was a bit concerned driving down here with the 3 dead cars roadside, but no-one was around and it was a quick find. TFTC skindo!
Nice little cache down a side road - cache is dry and well protected here. Beautiful country in this area. TFTC
Found quickly and extracted 2 very sodden disintegrated logs that sadly could not be saved. Added a new log sheet in double raincoat with drying sachets. Then admired the wonderful view, thanks for bringing us here.
Day two of my road trip from Auckland to Nelson in my newly acquired convertible cachemobile. Finding a few caches along the way. This one took me longer to find than it should have done. Got there in the end but the log is very fragile and falling apart. I think I managed to make my mark. TFTC, Biggles.
#5650. The family are heading north to attend a funeral in Rotorua tomorrow. Its a long drive so we need a few stops on the way and geocaching is always a good opportunity to stretch the legs. I noticed this morning there was another skindo cache by SH1 that I had not yet done so thought we needed to rectify that situation. So pulled off the main drag and parked nearby. It did take a few minutes to find as I went looking in places that seemed suitable rather than using the GPS. Once guided back it was a quick find. Signed the log and replaced the cache as found. Nice views from GZ. My girls enjoyed patting the two calves that were roped up further down the road. Thanks for the cache skindo.
Old local knowledge, had a feeling it would be down the old road and sure enough it was. We were a little confused with references to the second fence - either its a trick.. or you need to pop out and pull it back from over the cliff (that's where people throw stuff right?) but regardless we found the container when we stopped at the bottom of the right "one" cache had a little water in it and a wet log , but a nice dry log was above that.
Off to Taupo for a few days with team geocacher Mr. T and taking the opportunity to pick up a few caches. A quick stop to pick up this one. Thanks for placing a cache here.
This was the second day of my driving trip down to Oamaru for Geofest 2017. I stopped every five to ten kms or so along the way to grab a cache. This expanded my driving time to a total of two weeks to get there and home again. I ended up going a total of 3,500 kms.
I drove right past GZ and had to make a u-turn to get to this one. I thought I had to cross one of the hint items, but didn't have to cross any. TFTC.

I was intrigued by this one as we had driven this way many times, even stopping recently to look for the Ohingaiti Viaduct caches, but I couldn't remember passing a rest area on SH1 in this vicinity. As soon as we turned off SH1 in Barnaby I remembered the stretch of road from the past: the long straight with a chicane at the end to go across the railway, followed by another long straight the other side. I seem to recall the highway was remodelled after a fatal accident where a car never took the bend at the end of the straight. However, in the 25 years or so we drove along the old SH1 we never once stopped at this rest area, having always had our rest break at Flat Hills near Mangaweka.
The cache was found after a bit of searching, including puzzling over the hint before the penny dropped as to what it was referring to: requires a little bit of a loose interpretation. It was certainly well hidden, but in an expected location. Log is nice and dry. After returning it we headed back to Barnaby and turned around on the 'rest area' grass, then a local resident out for a walk came alongside and asked if we were lost. I said no, we were swapping drivers and remembering how different the road was all those years ago. She reckoned it has been 9 years since the highway was realigned. Time flies.
Thanks for another nicely hidden cache skindo.

On my way from Ohakune to Palmy North, I wanted to find some caches along the way. These places you normally pass, but because of the cache you take a small detour. Two years ago I found out about exactly the same sort of dead end road in Canada, where I took a picture of myself with the car sideways on the road. I made another one today at this place. After that, the cache was found quickly. Thanks for hiding!
On a weekend mission with Cats&Dragons, for a bit of a numbers run along the new trails around the Northern Manawatu area, and anything else along the way. As usual these types of trips mean maximizing caching time and minimizing sleep time. So with a 2am start time Saturday morning we left home and headed South, and not getting back home til 8.30pm Sunday night. Some numbers for the trip as I know we all like caching stats are:
* 1450km traveled.
* 286 caches found (192 on Saturday, 94 on Sunday) with only 3 DNF's
* 4 hours sleep
* With a 3 hour each way drive to the Caching area, so about 32 hours of caching in the 42 hours we were away at an average of nearly 9 caches per hour, this isn't including stopping for fuel and coffee!!!
So a huge thanks to all the CO's for the placements, and for the reason to see some more of our wonderful country, we saw some pretty amazing places. Sorry for the copy and paste logs. We signed the log books HKCD, or HKCBC&D.

Heading home from the event at Turangi and this cache was a good opportunity to stretch the legs and have a bit of a break from driving.
WB1116 headed one way while I went around the other to achieve success on finding the cache. Thanks for the hide, its been quite some time to drive along this bit of road.

Found with Haydn.seek on way to mega in Turangi. The view is slowly disappearing now the lookout is not on the main road. TFTC
Fielding to Turangi
Travelling today we stopped at the caches that were placed alongside of the road where possible.
We past some spectacular sow covere mountain scenery & along a desert road.
Setting up camp at the NZ Geocaching Adventure 2016

On our way to the Mega event in Tauranga and stopping by at caches on the route that we haven't already found. This was a very interesting stop. And a chance to look at the major changes in the reading in the area. Many thanks for this cache and another smiley face.
Soon found once the iPhone settled down but then it started raining so not much view today.
Thanks skindo
Thanks skindo
Slipped off SH 1 and down to the old lay by. Got to GZ where to cache was soon found. Signed log and left as found. Great views from here - in parts. Thanks for the placement skindo.
A quick find today while on a road trip to Taihape. The area is now very overgrown. TFTC
A bit of a deviation from the highway these days, but the view is still just as good. TFTC.
Travelled that old road many times in years gone by, interesting to see the changes. New log nice and dry. TFTC
Heading home after taking six days (and over 100 caches) to get from Wellington to Auckland for a wedding.
A bit off the beaten track now, finally made the time to stop. Log wet so replaced log sheet and bag, hopefully will keep it going. TFTC.

Once again master 9 had it in his hands before gps had even settled - log extremely wet and very hard to write on - was explaining to boys highway used to go here so nice history for them
Out on a road trip North and time for a few caches on the way.
A quick park and grab.
The not so old SH1 has deteriorated very quickly.

Definitely in need of a bit of attention. Logbook nearly completely destroyed
Actually I almost did have to climb the fence, as I found the cache and then immediately dropped it. Thankfully I was tall enough to reach it TFTC
Oh no... we drove past it again ! Just like on our last trip south - determined to get it this time though, so turned around and headed back - enjoyed the view from GZ, TFTC.
Quick find that had eluded me last time as I didn't realise where the rail crossing was last time. Nice spot for photo. TFTC
Found log very wet didn't carry anything spare with me to change it over. Tftc
Cache 34 of 42 - Out with Tommygun9 & Spudnz on an afternoon excursion to the mountains. Got to experience a lot of different climates on today's adventure.. Rain, hail, sun, wind and even a bit of snow thrown in for good measure! Had a bit of searching to locate this Skindo cache, but got there in the end -TFTC!
I had wondered if there was a cache down on this old part of SH1 when we drove past last time and indeed there is. The locals down here must be happy SH1 is now further away and they've been left with a good quality road.
This one took us a while as my GPS was indicating under the trees and then subsequently becoming less accurate once under but we found it eventually.
T F T C skindo.

Found on our way north for the weekend. Something around here smells a bit "off" so didn't stay long. tftc
It wasn't planned but how fitting to grab a Skindo cache as my 100th cache find for the month. We are holidaying in Masterton later this year and I'm wanting to collect on Skindo's 100 caches in a month challenges. Every month for me looks good but this month I started on 37 caches so I've been busy raising this to 100. It's taking some careful planning but with this find I have now 100 finds in the month of September.....wheww!

On the road again with Gap (of Fap and Gap). Up at the crack of dawn to travel down-country to an event in Kimbolton... The things we do for an August Souvenir.
I've wanted to stop here before, but the new road layout always lessens the likelihood of stopping here. Glad we did today... Gap had this sorted before I got out of the car. All that was left was to take some nice photos of the valley below. TFTC.

Needed to do an event cache to get our August souvenir challenge. Problem was, where is an event cache close by. Mrs Fap found one 300km away in Kimbleton, there appeared to be nothing closer. Phoned Squirrel Nutcas who was a keen starter so Kimbolton it was. All this way so planned to pick up a few more on the way. Left Rotorua at 6am and back home by 8.30pm with 58 caches found, not a bad day at all.
9.30am - SLTFTC

A quick find while heading south. Spud Jr still asleep in the car. Didn't even realize we had stopped. Cache was a little wet but log is still dry. Thanks for the cache, the view and the smiley.
On our road trip back to Nelson from Waiheke. A quick detour off the main road!!
TFTC.
TFTC.
On a bit of a Mission today to complete a stage of the GCLS with a final drive to collect the required caches. It will be a long day as i also have had to fit in work with it as well.
This was the 13th cache in the quest. A nice and quick stop and again time to get back on track

I find it a bit weird this area has been fenced off, doesn't really have a need to be fenced, but easy enough to climb under or over the fence to grab cache. Thanks Skindo
#6595. There were indeed Rangitikei River Views from GZ. Good idea to put a cache on a side road rather than on the busy SH1.
Stopped to look for this cache en route home after our Mega caching trip.
I had sussed out this cache as a possibility on the homewards journey before we left home so knew we had to detour off SH1, As we were signing the log, the Auckland-Wellington train passed by. TFTC.

We brought three young people to Taihape from Wanganui today so that they could attend RYLA a rotary weekend for developing leadership skills and used the opportunity to do some geocaching on the way home.
Loved the view. TFTC

On our way north, so made the short detour to sign this one off. Good views from here indeed. TFTC
Finally had the time on my side to take the detour and find this cache. Had to wait for awhile for traffic to clear but found it pretty quickly. I used the old talking on the mobile phone while walking around geocaching technique for this one. TFTC and the fantastic views!!
Found en route south to Wellywood
Cache find was straightforward; cache in order, log signed; cache safely re-hidden, just as found.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too
