We were so focussed on getting the PWGT caches a week and a half ago we missed this one. Great views of the river and cliffs. A new bridge is being built. TFTC Skindo.

I am regretfully archiving this cache since there's been no response from nor action by the cache owner within the time frame requested in the last reviewer note.

Hi skindo

This geocache was brought to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit and after my previous reviewer note, there has been no owner response. The cache owner needs to check on this cache ASAP and either replace it or archive it, after picking up any geo-litter. See the [maintenance section of the Geocache Listing Requirements/Guidelines](http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#listingmaintenance).

I've added this cache to my watchlist, and I will check back in four weeks to be sure that the maintenance has been done. In the meantime, I have temporarily disabled this listing. When the maintenance is completed, the owner can enable the listing by clicking on the link below the cache name to return it to active status.

Whatever your intentions, please **post a note** here on the cache page (not email) to let us know that you are still active and maintaining the cache. If a month passes without seeing a response, then I'll assume that this listing should be archived.

Please note, that if a cache is archived due to lack of owner maintenance, the cache is unable to be unarchived.

Thanks to the precise coordinates we could find quick.
Many thanks to hide the box, show us the place and do the maintenance.

Awesome little bridge. Love taking a detour down here off the main road to see it. The siltstone cliffs are amazing

Good easy find. Was a little dangerous where it was as a slip had taken part of the bank so have moved to a safer place very near by.

On our way to Turangi, a bit precarious getting this one, Mr CD passed it to me as he didn’t want to let go if his hand holds. Stamped and returned. Fabulous views from the bridge. TFTC

Out caching with rustynz. She and I are down from Auckland a few days and we've stayed a night in Taihapae at Rusty Nail Bkpkrs. Today we are doing other caches apart from an old cache we came down for.

Once we drove over this bridge me and rusty heading for the Ruahine cache, I said to my partner in crime we have to come back and get some fotos, I didn't know then there was a cache here! Bonus I say! I made the leap of faith to the cache, but used one hand to hold on and the other to retrieve the cache and throw it to rusty, returned the same way too! Then we took the fotos I wanted. Cheers skindo!

With gorby on a caching adventure Big Grin

Parking nearby, we make our way to GZ, and due to a hand injury, I am unable to reach, so it is gorby who stretches to the occasion, retrieving the cache from its hiding spot.

Once the log is signed, its now time to walk the bridges length, and admire the views below. Some hardy campers are down by the river. Its a busy place.

There is a sign about a replacement bridge and a camera too (we are being filmed/counted?) I guess its called progress.

Thanks for the hide Skindo.

Love this bridge and the scenery here. TFTC!

We did intend to travel further along this road but the bridge weight restriction called a halt to this - we travel in a bus. Happily located the cache though so that was good. Thank you.

Walksabit and I are now touring the North Island after spending 23 days on the South Island. Today we are travelling from Castle Point to Mangaweka and this cache was very close to the camp site we were staying at. Once we got settled in I walked over to GZ enjoying the walk along the bridge. Thanks for the cache.

#3946. After a short stay in Rotorua, I am getting a ride back to Wellington today with Infoferret and her son. We decided to pick up a few caches on the way south but will try to be a bit restrained compared to our recent trips away in the southern North Island where 50+ caches per day were targeted. I had noticed these two caches near Mangaweka before setting off today and thought they would be worth checking out. The scenery here is quite spectacular with the huge eroded cliffs nearby and the old style river bridge over the Rangitikei River. The cache was found in the second place checked. The log was too wet to sign so put in a replacement log sheet today. Returned the cache as found. Thanks for the cache skindo.

Logged as C&S with Carolaiiiine. Log is full and very wet.

On a weekend mission with Cats&Dragons, for a bit of a numbers run along the new trails around the Northern Manawatu area, and anything else along the way. As usual these types of trips mean maximizing caching time and minimizing sleep time. So with a 2am start time Saturday morning we left home and headed South, and not getting back home til 8.30pm Sunday night. Some numbers for the trip as I know we all like caching stats are:
* 1450km traveled.
* 286 caches found (192 on Saturday, 94 on Sunday) with only 3 DNF's
* 4 hours sleep
* With a 3 hour each way drive to the Caching area, so about 32 hours of caching in the 42 hours we were away at an average of nearly 9 caches per hour, this isn't including stopping for fuel and coffee!!!

So a huge thanks to all the CO's for the placements, and for the reason to see some more of our wonderful country, we saw some pretty amazing places. Sorry for the copy and paste logs. We signed the log books HKCD, or HKCBC&D.

29-Dec-16
Catching up on the logging. TFTC - A quick find whilst we had a lunch stop at the nearby campsite.

Very wet log! So didn't sign but tftc on a baking day!

24-Oct-16
Found with Haydn seek returning from Mega. This has got to be the busiest one way bridge in the country! Signed the log with no vehicles in sight for ages, the at least half a dozen vehicles and a traffic jam! They just kept coming.

24-Oct-16
This was visit on our way home from the Turangi Mega Event. And as we were close by for another cache we went on to this one. All was very quiet while we found, signed and replaced the cache and then when we went to drive over the bridge to get a photo and turn around traffic came from both sides. It was a very busy bridge for about 4-5 minutes while we awaited so we could go across the bridge and get a photo as we went. I will send photos soon. Thank you for the cache and another smiley face.

21-Oct-16
Quick find while heading up country to the 2016 Mega. Thanks for the cache.
Had to reach down quite deep to retrieve and the log was a bit damp but still write-able.

20-Oct-16
The road was closed at the bridge for repairs but we found it then did a 6 point turn to get back to the main road
On our way to the mega

18-Oct-16
18/10/16 14:40 Detoured for this despite the signs saying bridge closed. Until the 20th, for renovations. But cache accessible. Is very wet though and Alice is probably a more suitable person to retrieve it. Thanks for this, as I foray through Skindo country... not sure why I haven't picked this up before as I've driven this way a few times. Cheers, GC.

15-Sep-16
We decided we would go along this road on the way back from a few days in the Tongiroro NP. An easy find but the cache was wet through; the log was damp but not too wet to be able to sign. Could do with some attention. A great bridge with spectacular views. TFTC

09-Aug-16
We stayed in Barnaby at the Awastone camp ground over night, then next morning popped back over the bridge to have a look at the Mangaweka camp ground. While Mrs B inspected the facilities I headed back up to the road to look for the cache. A little bit of a scramble on slippery ground to get there today, but no muggles around and an easy find.

Not only is the old cache log a wad of wet pulp, the new log sheet was decidedly damp too as the plastic bag was split. I have replaced the bag and put the newer log in the new bag: the old 'log' is in the old bag, just in case CO wants to try drying it out to look at, though I suspect it is past redemption. Unfortunately there was no sun to dry the new log out so it will remain damp for the moment.

Thanks for another cache skindo.

Another find on the great north summer roadtrip with the Banians- a week of travel from Wellington to Auckland via Napier, Wairoa, that secluded road between Wairoa and Rotorua, and almost the Coromandel peninsula.

Almost visible from the road, which made the find relatively quick. Idyllic spot, TFTC

31-Aug-14
Found on a >41 hour non-stop geo roadtrip from Wellington to Auckland via Cape Palliser and a whole bunch of skinny winding Wairarapa roads, in the esteemed company of slieschke, mike-miss and cretti. We picked up our rental car, dubbed the Idiot Box, and assumed our new identity as Team CRT, shortly after 8am at Wellington Airport and headed north.

We first headed to Porirua Harbour to take on the resident Kiwi geo art trail before heading over to the southern Wairarapa and Cape Palliser where we visited the light house at about midnight and tried our best to avoid seals while searching for a few caches along the southern most shore line of the North Island.

We headed up past Greytown and Carterton, focussing on caching areas west of SH2 this trip. There were some highlight caches, particularly around Carterton (I think) and some way up in the hills looking over the whole area from Masterton to Martinborough.

It was daylight again by the time we hit Masterton and we decided to hit fast forward and skip a planned area (will just have to come back again!) and shot through to Palmerston North where we got back into the swing of things.

We took the back-road up to Mangaweka, discovering some really fanstastic little places along the way, like a picnic area and waterfall way down in a canyon, and then we continued via Taihape, across and up through Owhango, to get some really old caches, and then north through Te Awamutu and back to Auckland to drop off the Idiot Box at the airport.

And of course, despite it then being after 1am on Monday morning, and raining kinda heavily, slieschke and I couldn't resist driving over to the North Shore for an FTF on a cache published earlier in the evening.

Thanks to all the cache owners along the way, even if we couldn't find your cache - all part of the adventure! Sorry for the copy/paste log, but just too many caches to remember *all* of them individually.

Great spot. TFTC!!! Big Grin

31-Aug-14
A plan was hatched for yet another extreme, fly down, drive back caching weekend from Wellington to Auckland. This time, Cretti and slieschke joined in on what turned out to be another epic road trip with myself and funkymunkyzone (our third trip this year).
We all met up at Wellington Saturday morning as i ended up being on an earlier flight to the rest of the crew. Jumped in our rental which happened to be a Ssangyong SUV this time round and headed straight to Porirua Harbour to hit the Kiwi GeoTrail. From there on, we zig zagged our way through Wiararapa to Cape Palliser, back up through Martinborough, Masterton, Ekatahuna, Pahiatua, Palmerston North, Taihape, Te Awamutu and back home to Auckland in the early hours of Monday morning.

To save time and log space, we stamped the logs as "Team CRT" travelling in the idiot box for the weekend. Lots of laughs were had over our 1500km+ / 41 hour road trip which consisted mainly of narrow gravel roads, some of which had spectacular scenery and views. Sorry for the copy/paste logs as its now all abit of a blur having only a few short naps in between. Many thanks to all the cache owners who have placed caches for us to find on another epic little adventure. TFTC! Big GrinBig Grin

Found in the company of Cretti, funkymunkyzone and mike-miss on a crazy Wellington to Auckland road trip in the idiot box. We traveled via the Kiwi GeoTrail in Porirua, the Wairarapa including Cape Palliser, the Manawatu, and back to Auckland via the western side of the Central Plateau. Signed as Team CRT. Despite very little sleep the weekend was a blast!

Thanks!

On the road again with Gap (of Fap and Gap). Up at the crack of dawn to travel down-country to an event in Kimbolton... The things we do for an August Souvenir.

Heading homeward now and a lot of distance to cover. This bridge looks old and in need of maintenance... The cache, not so much. Another quick find, thanks to a good hint. TFTC.

24-Aug-14
Needed to do an event cache to get our August souvenir challenge. Problem was, where is an event cache close by. Mrs Fap found one 300km away in Kimbleton, there appeared to be nothing closer. Phoned Squirrel Nutcas who was a keen starter so Kimbolton it was. All this way so planned to pick up a few more on the way. Left Rotorua at 6am and back home by 8.30pm with 58 caches found, not a bad day at all.
