Found our first cache in NZ this holiday.Very rainy day Put a new paper in it because logbook was full.TFTC
Heading to Whangarei with rattll. A quick park'n'grab by the main road. Rattll hopped out to make the find, while I suddenly realised that the campervan was blocking passage, so moved it to a better parking spot. All good in the cache, tftc!
Heading up north for a week or two with matagouri, picking up any caches we can safely pull over at with the campervan as we go.Lots of muggle traffic coming and going here. Thanks for setting this up
4-week family trip through NZ - Find #7!A short stop for a toilet break and a cache find .TFTC!
First day of our northern road trip - picking up just a few caches along the way Nice quick stop here TFTC
Bit wet near gz.Made Mrs P walk an extra 20m to get to the cache. She was not impressed Thank you Riser5+ MiniMaxy for placing this cache.Log signed as B&PFind number 4962
On a caching afternoon out with a couple of slightly crazy ladies, trying to log a few with the cyclone approaching. Yvettetb and nessvab had already found this one so I hopped out quickly and retrieved the cache. Had to sit in the car to write the log as the wind was getting strong. Log was nice and dry. Another SH1 barrier cache ticked off. Tftc
Super easy find. Don't have a pen on me at the moment but as I work at the caltex next to it I'll be back tomorrow to sign it!
Just hope none of the locals recognised me while I looked around for it

Day 1 of our three day Geocaching trip to Whangarei. This stage included the drive from Auckland Airport to Whangarei and caching the last 30 or so km's before getting there as well as some caching to the west in the late afternoon early evening. We signed the log as BIC for BFG, Infoferret and CrystalFairy.
Yet another cache with minimal parking. T4TC

28 October 2022 16:14 A 3 day expedition to the areas north of Auckland with Crystal Fairy and Barefootguru, most logs signed as BIC to save space and time. The focus of the trip was to find a number of puzzle caches solved over the last couple of years, plus other caches of interest we passed.
TFTC Riser5 for placing this cache, number 11875 for me.

Quick park and grab on a wet Sunday arvo trying to get some more points for the labyrinth. Lid is missing and log almost full, but have added a plastic bag for weatherproofing.
Some of these GB1 series need restorative work. This one has no lid and the log is pieces.
Another one down. Quick P & G.
Travelled up from Dunedin for my first Mega event and wanting to sign off some geotour caches as well in Auckland and Northland.
Thanks for the cache, Riser5

North Island Campervan trip Day 8
After the fantastic holiday I had a few months ago traveling around the South Island, making the most of one of those incredibly cheap campervan deals available at the time, I figured it was worth taking a week off work before the stresses of the usual holiday period to enjoy some of the delights to be found around the top of the North Island.
This would be a great chance for me to seek out some targeted caches such as the TMGT ones as well as some that would help me with my Jasmer grid, missing minutes (for a couple of challenge caches I'm working on) and any other caches that caught my eye.
Last night I was able to spend the night catching up with friends in Kaiwaka before setting off this morning to head up towards Russell in the Bay of Islands. I haven't been there in over 30 years, and was really looking forward to being there again. In the end I didn't quite get that far today, ending up spending a great night near a beach in Whale Bay.
The first part of my day way to be a casual drive up to Whangarei, making a point of stopping at as many caches along the way as I could, including this one.
I was able to park up and walk over to this one without any fuss. The cache itself only took me a moment to locate and finding no issues with the cache or the log I quickly added my name to the sheet and then was back on my way again.
Thanks for setting this cache up.

Awesome find! White-tailed spider against the bag! Be careful for future geocachers!!!
With the floods stopping our planed visit to family a couple of weeks back we are trying again this weekend, now that the flood waters have subsided. The elder Future Finder and I took the opportunity to find a few caches along the way. We parked up nice and close to GZ. It was good to me safely away from the flow of traffic. I made a super quick find of the hide. Cheers for the cache placement!
Able to park out of the way of traffic here so that was good. Quickly jumped out and tried to look as if i wasn't being weird getting out here. Can't think why anyone should pay me any attention but you never know right? Signed and replaced and back on the hunt to finish off the Mystery at the Museum souvenir challenge because i am not sure if I can get out again before it finishes. After a number of disappointments this morning and being by myself for now I decided to stick to easy hides - obviously not up for anything more today!
Day 15 of our NZ trip. Heading north. Great opportunity to stretch our legs and pick up a cache. Quick png. Greetings from

During our holiday in New Zealand we have visited both the North and the South Island. We saw a lot of highlights of this beautiful country, but there is so much more to see. So many highlights, so many caches! The geocaches showed us a lot of special and interesting places. Sometimes a quick find, sometimes we had to search longer. A few DNF's, but that doesn't matter. We loved New Zealand and we hope to come back some day!
Today we have found the cache "GB1: #17, N, Riser5 (Whangarei)".
Riser5, thanks for creating and maintaining this cache!

I made a list with lots of the Northbound GB1 caches and hit them as I made my way to Whangarei. The coords for this one were good, so I don't understand why some are off and some are on. TFTC.

22464 Traveling through New Zealand to see nice people and places. Also to find some geocaches.
Today we were went from Auckland to Paihia. On several spots we stopped to find some caches and to enjoy the lookout views. All day was sunny,so we also made a walk in Puhoi to get the caches along the path to the mountain view. Also the GB1 caches were very popular because you can park safely for them. At some Parkings there were many muggles, but they had no interest in us. they took many pictures.
Most caches were found quite quickly. A few took more time. Several were with waterproof paper, but our stamp and pen do not work that good on such paper, where when it was wet paper it logs fantastic.
Riser5 TFTC and the fun it brought us. Theo

We left Auckland quite late in the day after my conference was finished. However, having the door code for our accommodation in Whangarei gave us all the time in the world to find a few on the way up! The weather was abysmal, but tunfisk had a new piece of tramping equipment he was keen to test in exactly these conditions, so he was more than happy to do the jumping out of the car We had a great time and the time passed much quicker than expected. TFTC!!
TFTC... geodad and I have teamed up under one username "Matini264nJaimee83" previously "Matini264" and "Jaimee83", so are re-logging any that we hadn't found together, before deactivating one account. Have notified all COs involved for permission

Heading back home after finding the Marsden City caches, raining now but grabbing the rest of these north GB1 caches on the way past. TFTC
Find number 3924. I was travelling to Paihia for the Country Music Festival and caching along the way. To avoid the Auckland traffic I left home at 3.30 am so didn't start caching until a torch was not required. It was just becoming light at 6.50 when I pulled up for this one. It being the second of 20 for the day before I arrived at my accommodation. Thankfully there was another easy park followed by a quick find. Thank you for the placement.
On the way out of Whangārei on our way to Auckland for the weekend a nice easy find for #51.
We have been cautious when we needed to cross the road.

NB Dont forget our Devon UK Mega 2017 GC6JZNY this August in the beautiful East Devon area of our county. UK Megas are over one week full of events and geocaching - a wonderful way to enjoy our county!

On our way back to Whangarei very late after a long day in Akl on Fri 13th. Needed to stop off for a break, so grabbed the chance to get this one.
Road still reasonably busy, just after midnight, but cache was a quick find with the full moon shining bright and we were soon on our way again.

I was heading North for Christmas Lunch in Whangarei and stopped for a few caches along the way. I'm still finding these GB1 caches on my trips to and from Whangarei - not sure how many I've got left to go! A quick find, TFTC!
Got a txt from dad "managed to lock myself out of the van- any chance you can go pick up the spare car and ring it to me" Not sure what his plan was if I said no So off I went and then used the way home as a chance to grab some of the North direction caches. TFTC
Back in town after a day caching around the Tutukaka coast. Decided to head south to pick up more of the GB1 series. Heading north on the home straight now. Another rapid stop as weather has turned for the worse. TFTC
The Squirrel and my plans for the weekend was to log as many old caches as possible to go towards completing another challenge. This meant a lot of kilometres driving and a bit of forward planning and plus collect as many other caches as we could. The plan was to travel to KawaKawa Bay and stay at Hemi's uncles home.
Early start Saturday morning with our goal to get to KawaKawa. Google tells me its 266 Kilometres one way, but with caching who knows how many km's it will be.
Left Rotorua after work on Friday with a stop for dinner (Cambridge Roast House). Next stop Huntly for a coffee and a chat with fellow cachers, then on to KawaKawa Bay. No caches done on this leg.
Early start Saturday morning to achieve our goal.
4.20pm - Got muggled doing this cache, but don't think they were too bothered. SLTFTC

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... On a flying visit to Northland with the intention of finding very old caches and anything else that is within short walking distance of the vehicle. The gloomy, black sky is an indication that rain is only a minute away...
This was probably the most difficult to retrieve of all the barrier caches. Vehicles seemed to come and go without let up. It was hard to judge the right moment, so we just went for it... TFTC.

I had forgotten how crash barriers are magnets for spiders webs! lots of webs, no spiders - they must hide during the day? luckily this cache wanted to be found. Thanks for the hide
A wonderful day for geocaching. Beginning with a few geocaches on some back roads going up to Whangarei. Quick park and grab. tftc
Nice and quick....parked by the shady tree to ensure well clear of traffic.
#11063. The traffic was heavier heading north (than it had been heading south earlier in the day). We still managed some GB1 / N finds, however.
Another glorious day in Northland and today's destination is Marsden Cove and surrounding areas with lots of caches finds both going to and coming from the area.
And another GB cache found. TFTC.

Todays plan was for a further attempt to increase my unique Minutes for the 400 Minute Challenge in Manawatu. I only needed an extra dozen or so to tip me o=ver the magic mark and, with a plan to head further North than before (whilst a cacher), there was a good chance of success. Built the plan aroubnd the barrier caches spread evenly along the upper S H 1 and also another couple of Letterbox hybrids and an Earth cache at Hikurangi. The hope to also fit in Waipu Cove and Mangawhai Head was a step to far. Settled for 53 caches all up, 23 new minutes so mission accomplished and I can now claim another D/T for my grid. Many thanks to all the C Os whose caches I found today. Got to see some cool sights of lower Northland and help my little missions along. Got all the North ones on the way up and the South ones on the way back down. Yay

On my way back to Auckland after a neat Waitangi weekend with work mates, bush walking, eating and drinking plenty of wine and caching off course!
Today we were travelling north from Auckland to Whangarei, and on our way we found some of the caches along the road.
This one was very easily found.
Thanks for the cache.

Last log for the day but not last cache found. We did the Maungakamea turn off and Barrier 14 after this one. Think I've logged all todays caches now - might have to check the date on the earlier logs. Log at this one was full so I put in a piece of paper in a seal-able bag. TFTC
Today we headed from Mangawhai Heads to Whangarei finding caches along the way.
We had a motor home so pulled over in conveniant locations.
Thanks for placing this cache Riser5
I did spend the night in Dargaville and decided to collect some more geocaches on my way back to Auckland. It was very impressive to see all those flooded rivers along the way. Happy that I made it back to Auckland without to many detours due to flooded roads. Quick break to refill the car (and me). TFTC
Another quick grab from the GB1 Series during our roadie up North for the weekend. TFTC!

The following cache was attempted as part of KiwiFruitsNZ trip back to Auckland - involving attempting Riser5's GB1 series - after a well deserved long weekend away. A road trip that we managed to stretch to 9 hours instead of the regulation 3 hours - due to caching (planned) and holiday traffic (not planned!)

Had a huge day planned today to gather at least 50 caches which were at least 1km apart from the last, for part of the geo-licence series. We started out earlier with the first cache found just after sun rise, and the last log being signed about 15 hours and near 500kms later.
We had an epic time on this trip and saw some great places along the way, through an area we had both travelled through many a time but never stopped. Thanks for everyone who had placed a cache along our route so we could finally stop and see the sights.
#41. No troubles here.
