Our stage today takes us from Kaikoura to Picton. On the way we see sea lions again, many wineries, unusual stones and trees and great beaches. The caches also take us to places we would not have otherwise visited. This way we explore the area and can turn some caches into friendly smileys. A big thank you to all owners and greetings from the Moorhelmi from Germany
On a road trip with Net61 exploring Kaikoura and finding as many caches as we can. Quick park and grab on our way to the salt works. TFTC
With it being Leap Day 2024 I am trying to get as many types of caches as I can.I think I already have a Trad for this day in the past years. Never mind another doesn't hurt.Cheers for the cache, bumandworker.
**20,160**Although the hint marker had gone it was fairly obvious where this cache would be placed. Nice quick find here then off to the Earthcache TFTC
Headed down to Lake Grassmere after work as I wanted to complete the Earth cache for this months Wheel challenge. Had no idea it was such a hive of industrial activity producing so much salt. Had hoped there might be some information boards about the process but instead it was just a smiley. Thanks.
I found these Cache today on my way to Blenheim.
Thank you for the Cache and greetings from Germany .

We stayed for two great nights at Marfells Beach. This morning, on the way in to Blenheim, we detoured out this way. We searched in several locations before finally locating the cache in the pole. This cache and coordinates need updating. Thanks for the original placement bumandworker
Great afternoon caching back roads from Clifford Bay to Redwood Pass.
Took a bit of time for me to find this . The cache has moved, burmt the coords and hibt have not been updated. Coords for the original location put me halfway between 2 possible objects. The higher object seemed more likely to me, so I looked there twice before checking the lower object for the find.

A quick find with Tregearp whilst having an explore around Lake Grassmere. All in good order. Signed log and replaced as found. Thanks for the cache.
Yes, the information board and hide item have gone, along with the container. A few metres away is a new hide item. So, with an agreement with the CO, I dropped in a new container and log paper. Couldn't find a rock to hold it in place but the long grass should do that for now.
Stopped for a quick look for this one couldnt spot any relevant info as per clue so sadly a DNF for us. TFTC
Had a good look, several possible hide holes, all empty. Hint does not appear relevant. Suspect sign/plaque gone.
There is a challenge in Auckland that we are chugging away at, so each time we head out of town to find a few caches that challenge kind of dictates which caches we try to find.
This one worked for the cache size gap we had in what we were looking for.
We parked nearby and while I was checking out the salt piles gk found the cache. This is the first time since we have been geocachers that we have stopped to look at the salt, and with the geocache pages to read it makes it even more fascinating.

We made a brief detour on our journey to Kaikoura to check out the salt lake and have a look for this cache.
No problems finding the container but the clue appears to be out of date as that number no longer seems to be there.
Interesting area. TFTC.

After not finding it the day before we when out fishing so just hard to look again and found it
A fine but cool day on our way home. A quiet peaceful drive away from traffic. TFTC

Meanwhile this is my third geocaching-trip to Middle-Earth . And I love it! [:X]
Still there are routes and places in this beautiful country that are on the 'discover-me' list and want to be visited and explored. .
Starting from Kaikoura, this day (#21) was dedicated to drive up north to Blenheim along the beautiful, scenic route #1 at the coastline [^] - a new experience .
The weather was again blessed with blue skies
Was happy to visit quite a few geo-treasures that seamed the route - just like this one:
A quick find at KB4388 .
Thanks to the owner [:X] for placing and maintaining this cache and best regards from Germany!

Off State Highway 1 to collect a few more. This looks an interesting place to visit. Signed Team IE -caching with Infoferret. TFTC
13 January 2019 2:41 PM. Another quick find today. Tftc. You'd need an awful lot of chips to use up all that lot!
Out for a day of Caching with Hingis20 and Eltee291 and we are on our way to Seddon. My Canadian visitors are doing their best to get all the Caches they can, leaving no stone unturned. TFTC
Reasonably quick find this afternoon on an epic day of caching with crman1 and eltee291! Signed the log and replaced as found. Thanks for the cache, bumandworker!
Found today with hingis20 and crman1 as we are out and about on this hot, blue sky, no clouds day. Have come from Victoria, BC, Canada to visit with my daughter and her family in Blenheim and, of course take in some of the great geocaching here. Really great to be enjoying summer in January. TFTC
Being unwell Friday/Saturday I missed getting to Kaikoura for the Earth Cache. So the Salt Works is on my radar today. Got to Blenheim and called my mate, The Seagnoid for driver support. Im still not the best. Yes hes available. Take off in Toby, but hes sounding sick to so its a change to the Seagnoid Mobile and off we go.
Arranged a replacement container here. Cheers

A fellow cachet is just ahead of us, didn’t see anyone but definitely sights of a search! Tftc
#5891. I was over in Blenheim today at a meeting. After the meeting finished I had some time available before my flight back to Wellington to go for a drive south to have a look at the waterfowl down at Lake Elterwater. There are some interesting rare birds visiting there at the moment (three species of grebes). Quick find here on the way back north. Container is broken but the log is still dry. Signed the log and replaced the cache as found. Thanks for hiding it here bumandworker. Interesting to see the large mounds of salt in the nearby salt works. You wonder how they separate wind blown dust and bugs from the salt before they pour it into the salt containers. Maybe they don't!!
Heading South for a break and a bit of Geocaching. Grabbing a few on the way to Kaikoura.
Quick find at GZ, contained damaged but we didn't have a replacement.
Signed log, TFTC bumandworker.

Being a relief teacher with a campervan and a supportive family, I decided it was time to make use of the school holidays. I stayed the night at the Top 10.
The end of a lovely stay. I will be back.

Thanks. bumandworker for putting in the effort to hide this geocache. This was find for me.
I'ive started my beautiful trip of the South Island in Christchurch, I've visited many beautiful locations. I've travelled via Lake Tapeko, from Dunedin to the most southern part of Bluff. I've then continued with a cruise in Milford Sound and then back to Queenstown.
From there on I've visited Wanaka and the Haast pass to the Franz Josef glacier. I went all the way up to the Abel Tasman NP. Richmond und Nelson as the sonnierst cities were on my list as well.
I've soon reached the east coast in Picton and Blenheim.
After a couple of days, I've then travelled back to Christchurch via Kaikoura.
I've spent a couple of days in Christchurch and it's surroundings.
I've visited many geological sites and have found many caches along the way.
I've travelled 3500km and have experienced so much.
Thank you to all the owners

Quick find while out riding around the lake, staying at Marfells Beach camp. TFTC
A road we would never have driven down if it wasn’t for geocaching. TFTC!!!
This is going to be a big caching weekend with a bit of a tramp planned for tomorrow and the next day. But today was another of those dot days so Jo and I headed out to Lake Grassmere to grab a few park and grabs in the couple of hours we had spare.
We found the GPS jumping about a bit but there are really only two options here, although neither seems to fit the hint. Maybe they have been renamed? Anyway, no problems, quick find and the log might have dried out a bit as it is now fine. TFTC B&W.

A little soggy but ok to write on. Apart from the obvious nearby features, quite interesting to stand near all the popping foliage
Even though we couldn't spot the numbers we quickly figured out where it would be and when the activity at the salt works eased we made the grab. The log was wet and we dried bit as best we could. Tftc
Did not find anything. Nothing even with numbers on. Looks like some work been done in this area.
Found this one on our holiday in NZ.
We had to stop over to rest. And drove in this street. I have seen a farm like this but that was in another country. Always fun to see a farm like this.

Got this one today after coming up empty handed on a previous attempt. Yay! TFTC
Went on a big adventure with Wafflekitties and geo pups, had a blast thanks for the memories! TFTC.
Found while on holiday in the South Island with LCBuilder and our two geodogs. We spent 3 weeks travelling down the east coast and then up the west coast, moving to a different campsite each night. We got a few geocaches along our way; our best day was 41 and our worst was 6 we saw a lot of awesome sights and will definitely have to come back one day!
Quick find, interesting place! TFTC!

...A late log, been traveling the upper South Island with sveppi, hiking, and a bit of geocaching along the way. Logged everything upon returning home, and 2 weeks later realise there is one I forgot to log. Parked nearby, grabbed and signed the cache for both of us while sveppi took pictures of the nearby industry in action.
On tour in NZ! To safe time and space we signed with CG3 ( caching girls 3)!

#1485 Found Geocache
On the way from Kaikoura to Kaiteriteri, vieuwing nice stops. Sometimes short to pickup a cache and sometimes a bit longer to explore the city. The cache searched and found. After completing log, logbook and cache placed back on the same place I found it. Best CO bumandworker thank you very much for this well done and maintained cache.

On the way from Nelson to somewhere on the East Coast I broke my trip by doing some sightseeing along the way and also find some caches. Most of the time it coincided as caches had often been placed near interesting locations anyway but sometimes I also just stopped for a cache (when I thought it was about time to find another one)...
It is alway nice to combine travelling and geocaching as I have often found really cool spots I would have otherwise missed out on.
After seeing all that salt at the salt pans it was time for some pepper - which I found quickly. Would have been funy if the cache container had been a pepper caster!
**TFTC** says *kinderarzt* from Germany!

Yep, heaps and heaps of the stuff around today. Found while heading back to Picton on a beautiful warm sunny morning, collecting a few caches I didn't get when I came down a few days ago. *TFTC bumandworker, #8620*
On our way north we made a little detour to take a closer view at the salt lakes and find this cache.
Thank your for hiding it!

Thought it appropriate to have morning tea here as there is a good supply of salt to go with the pepper.
We came up from Toastmasters convention in Blenheim. It was our 'most easterly cache in the South Island' as part of a North-South/East-West Challenge.
Nice quick find after a short drive down from Blenheim. We came especially to try and collect a relatively easy 'most easterly cache in the South Island' as part of a North-South/East-West Challenge. Had another cache in mind but DNF-ed that one, so it would have to be this one.

Found it with Team FIN [janahola, kapeka, laalaa & temyllyl]
We had fun with caching few weeks here in New Zealand. Lots of geocaches and many sort of them too. We saw awesome places, weather was pretty good all the time and people were friendly and polite. Caches were pretty similar like in our home country. Of course there were some exeptions. Nice and really scenary country!
Greetings from Finland
