the cache container was roughly half full of brown water. completely unsignable so hopefully this pic is enough. nice hide but needs to be replaced for something more waterproof as both the container and sealed plastic bag were soaked TFTC!!

24-Nov-24
I understand the cache needs attention. I am away at the moment. Ill try to fix it in the next week or two.

16-Jun-24
Quick check. Cache in place. A little damp perhaps.

02-Apr-24
I was training for a 3 day hike at Anzac day and this was along my 6km hike of a morning. I hadn't been this path before and it was a bit errie by myself of a morning as not that well trafficked. I knew there was a cache on this path so I stopped and found the first place I looked but alas no pen to sign.Walked past again many times, finally with a pen to sign today. Now the log book is soaked and I cannot sign. Thanks for the lovely spot. FP from me for helping me discover somewhere new in my own backyard.

Thanks again!

Working on Epping Road just above and took time for a short walk. Nice along the lake. After reading the description again quickly located the hide after about 5 mins.

Thanks for placing

Good luck getting ~0.5L into that container.. It's 2dl at the most.
Had to scoop out a tablespoon of water.
My gps was about 10m off, so I trampled every bush in a 20m radius, sorry.

I finished my work earlier than expected today so I decided to park off Mowbray Rd in the lane cove river kayaks parking area and walk under the bridge to grab the final waypoint info for pages creek swamp. With that info in hand I decided to head onto Yangoora waterfront and it was a lovely sweaty walk and I uncovered the cache immediately after reading the description. All is good here. Surprisingly peaceful given a busy road above. Lane cove business park is where I used to work so I’ve always been amazed at how much bush land there is here. TFTC

Couldn’t find it , rain may make it a bit difficult , any tips ?

Found about 5 mins after getting to GZ. never knew of this trail less than 1km from home! Nor the so called Lake. Cache as described. We forgot to bring a pencil. Log book was somewhat damp.

I was feeling a bit stir crazy and needed to go for a walk today. I chose this area as i wasnt as likely to run into as many people.
After getting to the GZ i began checking all around me. I spent quite a bit of time looking in the wrong area before switching it up and made a quick find.
After signing duties i continued on and had a good walk.
Thanks.

No idea what the clue means, but found despite GPS not being much help to me. #190 TFTC (I notice log has been signed since July but not showing in activity for cache)

I have deleted the hint. I now no longer remember what it meant! The hide is pretty straightforward, and the area very quiet - so a hint should not be necessary. And a confusing hint is worse than no hint.

What an interesting water feature. Pity it isn't more accessible. Working in the area today , I keep an old pair of boots in the car for such an occasion. Once at GZ, I quickly spotted a telltale sign of a hidden cache. The log is nice and dry despite the recent rain.

06-Nov-19
I knew this Yangoora Reserve Walking Trail was here but hadn't walked it, so I didn't know what the waterfront referred to until I saw this well hidden lake. A beautiful walk in the shade through this rainforested gully to an easy cache find. TFTC

02-Oct-19
Today we headed across the Roseville Bridge to try our luck at a D5 cache in East Lindfield, and to do a checkup visit at the nearby D4.5 cache "GC782TC Sticky situation" which is currently under threat of Archiving due to someone reporting it to the Reviewer (a disgruntled DNFer we suspect). Then, after some shopping at Chatswood, we grabbed some more caches around the Lane Cove area. This was the 4th of 8 finds, and 1 checkup visit, for the day.

Parked the geomobile at the end of Willandra Street, then took the pathway down to the pedestrian over bridge, which we then used to reach the other side of busy Epping Road. We then followed the bush track all the way down to GZ for a nice quick find. Stamped the logbook, picked up the TB, and then replaced as found. Could only just get a glimpse the lake through the heavy tree cover, but it was interesting to learn about the history of the lake/dam. TFTC Pyobeon.

A warm day OCW Oldmorty around the Lane Cove River area and wandered this hidden bush track. The hint narrowed the search and cache was found dry and ready to log. TFTC!

Active brush-turkey mound a further 10m west with its owner trying to give me a hard time. I slowly made a search in an area out of its way and then noticed something unusual worth checking, argh, CIH, thanks Pyobeon

I waited years for this to be back online. Only to take years to get back to this pretty walk once you find the start!?!
An easy find at GZ. Took TB.

Once we were on the track, finding this cache was not difficult. This whole walk was new to both of us so thanks for brining us here.

11-Nov-17
Nice walk along the track, even with the background noise from peak hour traffic above. Regretted not bring a trackable I had (at home) with me to drop off >_< Log is nice and dry. TFTC! Very Happy

Having worked in Orion Rd a life time ago, its interesting to come to these places that I've never previously visited. Took a moment to locate a likely place and finally spotted a tiny glint of a well hidden container. Streak day #133 and still only half way for the evil challenge cache in Pymble.

22/5/17 Found with Jackscruff. Glad to see this one back online after such a long time, but it could almost be a new listing seeing that it's a substantially different hide than the original... but then again, I just want another smiley Smile It turns out there has been some major work done in the bushland, while the Yangoora Bushland Trail has been closed off to the public for the past 4 years. The original track has been closed off and a new and improved track has been created closer to Epping Road. A chainlink fence has also been installed, which essentially blocks off access to the old track. Thanks For The Cache Pyobeon.

I've been watching this one for years ! So glad to see it's findable now.

With the rain lashing down I hopped off the bus and entered the path at the western end.

Thankfully, I made a quick find and returned past a awesome waterfall coming from under the road

Well they say good things are worth the wait and it certainly has been a wait for this one! Was it worth it? For sure! A drizzly day and a bit overgrown still but a lovely walk to a hidden urban spot with a nicely camo'd cache is always a welcome treat. Finally my closest to home cache falls. Cheers!

13-Feb-17
I've had this on my watch list for so long.
First find in over 12 months.

Full log to follow

12-Feb-17
Coordinates changed from:
S 33° 48.326 E 151° 8.972

Coordinates changed to:
S 33° 48.326 E 151° 8.979

Distance from original: 35.5 feet or 10.8 meters.

The path is now open: fully accessible at the western end, with a climb over the railing at the eastern end. There is plenty of work going on on the path - boardwalks being installed, etc. And there are quite a few survey markers indicating this is sill a work in progress. Nevertheless at the western end it is fully accessible with not locks or keep out signs, and the path is easy walking.

However the old GZ is about ~1m behind a new chain-link fence. So I have replaced it with a very similar hide ~10m east. Thus I am updating the coordinates.

I have not retrieved the old cache as it is on private property. If you should stumble across it, please let me know - I would rather like to keep the log.

12-Feb-17
Almost four years officially inaccessible - that's a lot of monthly status updates to stop it getting archived!

12-Feb-17
Thanks.

We'll get there soon.

11-Feb-17
A big step forward, and a small step backwards.

The path is now open, at least from the western end - there's an inconspicuous black gate at the back if the garden / barbecue area behind the Arise apartments (I'll post a photo / cords later). The path is being worked on - sections have boardwalk, and steps have been cut in places, but it's clearly only part done as there are plenty of survey markers. Nevertheless it is quite passable. I didn't walk all the length (as it was shockingly hot today) so I don't know if the eastern end is open.

The step backwards is that the cache itself is now about a metre behind a new fence. There's a few suitable sites on the public side of the fence within maybe ten meters of the original site. I'll put a new cache in place soon - possibly tomorrow. This may be a temporary arrangement as the path restoration work may result in further disturbance to the location.

09-Feb-17
Did the path to this open?

07-Jan-17
Can't be long now. I'll try to check tomorrow, as I am away next weekend.

10-Dec-16

I was in the area today to try and find a cache for the Summer Scavenger Series- thought you might like an update.

Path is still closed from Sam Johnston Way.

The old servo is now lots of units, and there is no way down to the original path (well there are some gates from the units in that direction but they are all padlocked.) and where the path should be now seems to be inside the private property fence of the Johnston building - complete with security cameras.

I did get parked at S33 48.290 E151 8.774 which is outside some factories so able to park in the visitors spots because it was a weekend.

I did find a path down to the river (hoping to skirt around and get to where I really wanted to be ) S33 48.274 E151 8.745. unfortunately it is taped off with lots of danger & asbestos signs so I couldn't cut back through.

10-Dec-16
I understand that the currently locked gates at the back of the units from the BBQ / rec / park area will connect to the Yangoora Bushland Trail and that this will be open in early 2017. I will update the description when I re-enable this cache, when it is legitimately accessible.

(I am not aware of any connection from the area ( where the hazard tape is currently) on the banks of the Lane Cove River that goes up any distance on either the north or south side of Stringyback creek. The only access I have found is from Epping Road, or just off it - back of the units and Sam Johnson Way, or possibly as some previous intrepid finder tried, I think, over the fence from Epping Road.)

09-Sep-16
I have been advised by the state Department of Planning and Environment that "Council is commencing work on the bushland trail soon with re-opening anticipated in early 2017."

07-Sep-16
I thought I would spend some time over lunch searching for this one even though it's been disabled for quite a while. Getting to the gz was pretty straightforward even from the new apartments however on arrival at gz discovered a fence which prevented me from accessing the cach, 1 metre on the wrong side! Suspect the fence has been installed since the last successful find quite frustrating, but a lovely walk none the less. but a lovely walk none the less. They have been doing quite a lot of work on the new trail here but still a long way to go. Probably a few months off I would say before they open it.

02-Sep-16
The site is now occupied, but the track is still closed. I'll email the council shortly to find when it will be opened.

09-Jul-16
It seems I missed my monthly update in June. The end of the trail at Sam Johnson way is still blocked. However the site seems largely complete and is already being occupied. I'll give it a month or two and then contact the council to find out why the trail has not been re-opened. I guess they will need to do some clearing and repair after this long.

07-Jul-16
After doing your great multi nearby I wondered if this was accessible yet.

Any update?

08-May-16
Path still closed. Yawn...

10-Apr-16
Back from a couple of weeks overseas (and a few caches in exotic locations) and the taxi from the airport took me past the end of the trail - still blocked. However the tower block has a big banner advertising places for lease, so surely it must be finished soon...

13-Mar-16
Yawn... still not (officially) accessible

08-Feb-16
Despite the recent visits, I can't re-enable this yet. The last I checked (about ten days ago) the path is still officially closed with safety warning. The building work is clearly getting close to completion, so I am hopeful; although I don't know what, if anything, they will do about restoring the trail. Some of the original council approval documents talked about improving degraded bushland.

04-Feb-16
Is this good to go?

17-Jan-16
I wanted to check out this track while it was still closed off as the idea of it being partially overgrown was quite appealing. Access from Sam Johnson Way was very easy and although overgrown, the track was easy enough to walk through. Spider webs were everywhere, and I had to clear them with a stick pretty much the whole way along. The view from the cache is very nice with the walls and lake views. Thankfully it was easy enough to find but I'd say that had a lot to do with it having been recently found.

On my trek I noticed a lot of survey marks and some weed clearing too. Perhaps they are starting to get it ready for opening? Getting out was easy enough but I really wouldn't recommend going right to the end as you'd have to walk right through the construction site. Its also worth noting that the very western end of the track is the only part affected by the construction as far as I could tell. Thanks.

02-Jan-16
Glad to see it's been found again, even if the path is closed. I don't know anything more about the Lane Cove Lake than is in Yurt's GCA cache, which pre-dates mine by quite some time.

01-Jan-16
Found at 4:55pm with JordsAU.

Last night we celebrated New Years at my parents place in Silverdale and I was keen to keep my streak alive so I thought it was worth knocking off a cache or two. In the end I finished the day with a total of five finds - a couple of which were temporarily disabled listings but we had word that the cache's were still in place. My find streak had been going for eight days as of today so I was hoping to maintain it with a bit of interest. In the afternoon I met up with JordsAU and we went to go and grab a handful. A good start to kick off 2016.

'Yangoora Waterfront' was my third find for the day. This one really tested us from start to finish. We managed to find a pretty decent way into the bushland and onto the trail but it wasn't easy going as it usually is when finding a trail. We were up against spiders for the next 300 metres, luckily JordsAU lead the way with his 'Anti Spider Stick' (SMH) which meant I was able to walk through freely after he had untangled a countless number of webs along the way.

I was a bit concerned about finding snakes but there was really no sign of them in this area, I can't even say we saw many lizards or skinks until we reached GZ. The path was overgrown but still manageable to navigate in order to know where we were headed. There were a couple of obstacles including a fallen tree which had smashed a timber footbridge crossing a creek, however we negotiated it comfortably.

Once we arrived at GZ, JordsAU recalled being here once before when he unsuccessfully searched for this cache but both he and I were fixed on ensuring that we walked out of here with the smiley. We searched GZ for about 15-20 minutes over a 15 metres-odd radius in what we thought were all very likely areas. It turns out we were on the money but just hadn't pin-pointed the camo.

In the end JordsAU came up with the goods in a spot that I thought I had exhausted. The retrieval was tough but he did a good job to get it out safe and sound.

We signed the log, returned the cache and replaced the camo. It's great to have found this one. On the way back we visited the 'Lane Cove Lake' cache which is still active on GCA and turns out it was JordsAU's first ever find back in 2007.

Thanks for the cache Pyobeon and thanks for bringing us here. It will be great when the place is back in action after construction is complete.

Found Yangoora Waterfront with Jase90 at 4:55 PM, after recording a Did Not Find on this one way back on the 21st of December 2012. Seeking a find on New Year's Day for the Say Hello to 2016 digital souvenir, I opted to turn this DNF frown the right way around with another crack and co-ordinated to meet up with Jase90 so we could attempt together. Being temporarily disabled since the 19th of May 2013 and only found once since (last on the 19th of February 2015), there was hope for us to find a way in and give this cache some love on this particular public holiday. The track was rather overgrown and the spiders had spun their webs across the path just about every step we took, but with my trusty Anti Spider Stick (Patent Pending) in hand we made our way to the published co-ordinates, albeit a little slower than our usual pace. Once at Ground Zero, we spread out and conducted a thorough search of the area but we were not having much luck. After re-reading the description in more detail, as well as some previous logs, this proved to be the secret sauce we were after and it helped to reassure that our attack plan was on point. I felt I was in a good spot and had been scratching around for a little while, until Jase90 suggested I dig a little deeper through the layers of undisturbed leaf litter, which is covering much of the floor around Ground Zero. It turns out our hopes of uncovering this tricky hide down on the waterfront were not sunk after all and Jase90's idea did the trick! With the Cache In Hand, we opened it up and performed the signing duties, before returning the cache and its cammo to the hiding location. Signed Log, Took Nothing Left Nothing. Thanks For The Cache Pyobeon.

I have not been able find too much information online about the lake but in the description of the GCA cache by Leek, Lane Cove Lake (my first geoacache find back in 2007), it is a man-made lake formed by an old dam built by the Cumberland Paper Board Mills in 1913. How interesting! Maybe the Cache Owner knows more about it?

On the way back, Jase90 picked up the GCA Lane Cove Lake cache, which is still there, and I took a photo of the log page I signed back for prosperity. We wanted to do more before calling it a day and we decided upon The Gold It's In The... Multi Cache down Epping road, over in Marsfield.

Temporarily written as a note but will change to a found log once I catch up on my backlog of overdue logs.

05-Dec-15
The end is definitely in sight. Parts of the site are open and there is advertising to buy units. There's still cranes and scaffolding, but it looks like they are there to complete the external cladding on the top floors of the two towers. 2016 should be the year when this cache can be re-enabled (and I can stop posting monthly updates on the progress of building works!)...

17-Oct-15
There are now two part complete twoer blocks, but the main block seems to be continuing to go up - the lower half looks complete, but the lift shaft top now shows floor 24. So, it will take some more time, I guess - yawn...

19-Sep-15
Won't be here when the monthly update is needed so went by today. Facade on most of main tower, and structure of smaller tower looks complete. Path may be be open again this year?

30-Aug-15
Well, the big tower has much of the exterior finishing (balconies, plate glass, etc) in place. There is however now clearly a second tower that is going up and is less complete, but I assume they are doing them in parallel slightly staggered so I expect it won't be far behind.

26-Jul-15
Still building a building. The lift shaft tower suggests it's 19 floors (or more). The lower central building of the three seems fairly complete. The main towers though have still some work to be done.

27-Jun-15
Building coming along pretty well. Still going to be a while yet.

31-May-15
Still inaccessible. Scaffold for what looks like facade on a substantial building is now up to around floor 10. Maybe a second building going up beside it. That's two years now, I think.

01-May-15
The main building is now rocketing up. the end is in sight...

26-Mar-15
Another month, another note... building works still progressing - lift shaft passed 10th floor - but not yet complete and sole (proper) means of accessing cache still well blocked by heavy duty construction site fencing.

21-Feb-15
Great to have a find on this cache after almost two years. However, after emailing Chudles, I am not re-enabling the cache just yet as I don't want to encourage entry into this area until the warning signs are removed. Hopefully that will not be too many months more.

19-Feb-15
Monthly update - the building is shooting up - lift shaft at about floor 8 - scaffold and formwork for floors following behind. Could be 6-12 months away...

19-Feb-15
I decided it was high time that this cache got a different kind of a log than the monthly status update. I was going to be driving past, so I thought it was worth a quick go. In the end, I didn't have to go past any warning signs, cross any constructions barriers (or go near any construction), nor do anything I haven't done many times in hunting down t3.5 caches.

12-Jan-15
Monthly update. Still inaccessible due to building works. But they are still progressing so the is hope...

13-Dec-14
Monthly update - building work is progressing.

29-Nov-14
I had a closer look the other day and there is a fair bit of scaffolding and what I think is form-work, so it does appear to be progressing. I was also on the other side of the river and took the attached picture of the cranes.

13-Nov-14
Still inaccessible. There is plenty of work going on with cranes and foundations. Probably still a year from completion would be my guess.

11-Oct-14
Slightly belated monthly note as I have been in Europe. The building work continues to block access.

26-Aug-14
Time for the next monthly note. Yes, the path is still blocked. However there is now a fair bit of activity on the building site. Last weekend there was one crane building another crane. There's also site offices and truck movements. I reckon I only have about another 24 of these monthly notes to post at this rate Wink

24-Jul-14
Been past every day for several weeks, but today went past in a taxi so could have a good look. The path is still blocked and the cache inaccessible, however the good news is that there is activity on the site - cranes and lights and stuff. So maybe in another twelve monthly notes or so it'll be accessible again.

13-Jun-14
Went by on the bus today. Track still closed.

02-May-14
The good news is that there is activity on the site - I saw some big trucks turning into it this week. The bad news is that the track is still closed.

01-Apr-14
Have been past here every day for the last week. Yesterday I was on the bus so had a good look. The track is still closed. However, from emails from Willoughby Council it seems that things are moving - there's public consultation on how much the developer should put into developing bushland. Whilst that may be good news for the bushland in the long term, it suggests that there is still a long time before work completes and this track re-opens.

02-Feb-14
Went past yesterday and track is still closed for building works.

10-Jan-14
Drove past today and the trail is still closed for the building works. I will endeavour to check and post a note every four weeks until it is accessible again.

10-Jan-14
I support CO on how the trail into GZ is blocked.

I walk, cycle or drive past this site every week day and of late the work on the building site has ceased. I understand that the work stopped because of a dispute with council over how they site developer planned to cut driveways into the property.

I would not be surprised if the site stays inaccessible for over a year.

24-Oct-13
Hi Ministro,

The cache is definitely not abandoned. I pass the site regularly and am awaiting the trail being re-opened.

The cache is almost certainly still in place, however it is inaccessible because a major building project has caused the temporary closure of the Yangoora Bushland Trail which is the only access to this bushland. The development plans show the trail will be reopened, but are not explicit about when.

I do not believe that there should be any problem in keeping the cache archived until it is accessible again as there is very little scope for other caches within 160m. The area south across the lake is private, east and west is inaccessible because of the same trail closure, north is a major highway and the area north of that is private industrial.

Pyobeon.

14-Jul-13
I suspect that this may be inaccessible for a year or so. This looks to be a major development: http://majorprojects.planning.nsw.gov.au/index.pl?action=search&page_id=&search=150+Epping+Road&authority_id=&search_site_type_id=&reference_table=&status_id=&decider=&from_date=&to_date=&x=-33&y=-707

19-May-13
Unfortunately the Yangoora Bushland Trail is temporarily closed due to the demolition / redevelopment of the big servo. Not sure how temporary this is, but I need to disable the listing until the track is re-opened.

15-May-13
15/05/13. 6:53 AM. Cache #610. Current streak: 248 days. Up early for more pre work caching in Lane Cove West & North. Parked in the rotary sports field car park at the start of Mowbray and made my way on foot along Epping Road to Sam Johnson Way. This time I descended a different set of stairs to the bush track than those I used yesterday to get to Down Under and Under Under (today taking the stairs from the western corner of the intersection).

Followed the bush track along and my GPS was having trouble finding sats so I just used the iPhone. As I got near, the lake this early in the morning had mist rising from it, giving an eerie atmosphere. Made it to GZ and dropped a little below the track so I could look back up and spot the hide. Surprised to only be the 3rd finder in a year that's already approaching halfway. (Online logs might suggest I'm the 4th in 2013, but...hmmmm?). TFTC }:)

20-Apr-13
Last cache for the day on a Saturday that was first rainy, but got better as the time went on.
Took the steps down from Sam Johnston and had to step around at least one very flooded area.
Nice walk, almost enchanted, just a bit disturbing with the traffic noise from Epping Road.
Arriving at GZ we first looked in a few other possible places before spotting something that turned out to be the cache.

12-Apr-13
The servo is being torn down at the moment and the trail is easier to find as i think they have been doing some work there conected with the servo. Great place for a cache, wjo would have thought there was a lake there, nice quick find, my last one in Australia for a few years i fear Sad tftc
