We are on our summer holiday driving around the South Island with no real idea of where we will end up each day. We are often drawn to an area that has the potential to give us a few geocaching smilies and somewhere we have not spent time exploring before. So we spotted this trail of caches and decided to come and have a look see. It was so refreshing to ride a maintained trail, we have been on some really overgrown and washed out tracks in the last few days.
Some of the logs are damp but all are useable.
The log here was covered in black mould so we left a new piece of write in the rain paper
Thank you for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley

Found it with our 5yo and 2yo. Going to walk the short path to Stoneleigh Rd T4TC. Log wet and black with mould, couldn't sign it.
Out today with yetichch riding the Opihi Trail, hoping to get smilies on all the caches along here. Glad to say we were successful in our mission. Beautiful day for riding along here and plenty of ripe wild blackberries to snack on along the way. Didn't see any other people today, so made the hunt easier with no muggles about to be careful of. Some of the caches need maintenance, a few log books were a bit on the wet side. Many thanks Bitsprayer, wouldn't have seen this great trail if it wasn't for geocaching!
Sorry about the generic logs.
Sorry about the generic logs.
Log is super wet. Too wet to sign though did my best to leave an imprint. Tftc
This was unfortunately our last one for today due to the bad hew fever of my husband. This was a quick grab. The cache was very wet, the logbook is to wet to write. We tried to dry the box but unfortunately we hadn't a new logbook with us.

Stayed the night in Fairlie so that I could come for a bike ride up here, something I have been meaning to do for several years. The weather "sort of" cooperated, the rain stopped for a few hours although the track was a bit muddy. Found this one fairly quickly. Signed log, TFTC
Found this one while on a holiday from our home in Whangamata. Cache was full of water had been put back upside-down needs maintenance TFTC
It is time to get the bike of the rack and me suited up for the Fairlie River Walk/Cycleway series of caches. I started at the end and worked my way down the Opihi River.
Cheers for the cache.

... a great day on push bike collecting smilies. Enjoying these caches. Thanks again Bitsprayer!
After another brilliant day skiing at Round Hill we got back early enough for me to go and find some geocaches. This one was nice and easy and I didn't need to walk far.
Out on the trail on the bike to collect these lot in intermittant drizzle and rain, no problems with overheating. Cheers for the trail, glad to get it ticked off the list finally.
Easy find with my friends from the Geraldine Tramping Club who helped me locate this cache. And what a hot day it was: 32C in the shade! TFTC
Out for a warm bike ride to get this series of caches with axllal and mr axllal, warm day and it is further than it looks. Thank you for these.
Took a run on friday up to Kimbell and logged the first handfull. Today on the way back from Ruataniwha went for a quiet MTB along the track and back to get the remainder. Sunny warm - great area. TFTC
working in and around farlie today, so the mission for today, after the last job was to complete the last 5 in the series quick find 4 to its warm today.
Found on the way back from a caching adventure in Tekapo. Started biking in brilliant sunshine, had a bit of rain and finished in the clouds. Still a great ride. TFTC
A road! I was kind of hoping there was a pub on the corner but nope, none there! TFTC.
We were heading to Lake Pukaki to cycle today but the cold wind would of made that a little unpleasant. Instead we were drawn back to the prospect of a sheltered ride along the river and many more caches. TNLN SL TFTC.
Neither of us can do the splits so am pleased it wasn't a logging requirement !!!!! getting tired now but the end is getting nearer !!! thanks for the cache
The thought of doing the splits makes me cringe and was wondering if it was logging requirement but decided CO would have same problem as me so will log anyway Cache quickly spotted and starting to feel the sense of achievement on nearly finnishing this trail TFTC
Just realised this it best done as a MTB trip but have found these caches as they are close to a road. I will come back in future to get the rest on a bike! TFTC
Liz dubbed Jacob on the bike and I ran, walked and collapsed. Enjoyed our visit to Fairlie as the A&P show was on; it is a big affair.
Enjoying the trail. Good easy finds with helpful hints. Weather very nice with little wind and plenty of sun. SL TFTC
The whole series from start to finish or is that finish to start deserves Favourites. A great series Thanks for the effort. TFTC
My kind of hide!, saw where this might be when I arrived and left the bike to quickly and happily sign this log!

A nice MTB ride down the trail this morning. Thanks for the ride, and the smiley!
Easy to spot from a distance. Mporokosa added a small amount of camo, but will still be easy to locate.
Fifth cache of the Stoneleigh series on my MTB ride to Fairlie.

We had heard rumours of a new power trail in the deeper south so left the now no longer sunny Nelson for sunnier pastures.
Not sure of my split time for this cache but am getting through in good time.
