With Gap (of Fap and Gap) Were here for Geo Toroa (Dunedin Mega). Between flight cancellations and re-routing, things could only get better, right? But wait, theres more! Somewhere on our caching escapades, I dropped my wallet (Tuesday) Its still at large, so if anyone finds itOne of us usually drives, the other is the retriever. That works for us. Weve either logged caches with our separate handles, or weve used FANGS to sign the logbook. Using the latter handle is more for mental health and well being. Its tiring having to write 15 + characters on each logbook Weve joined MDF - Our BoP Teammates. Our goal is to put a few more smilies onto our geomap to the north of Dunedin. This was one of the caches we visited and found successfully. Thanks Big smoke. TFTC.
Down in Dunedin for the Mega event. Travelling with Davidsonclan and McJandals. Really fun to be out and about with the team and catching up with other cachers friends from everywhere. Thanks to all the organisers and all the COs for some great caches. It is certainly a lovely area of New Zealand TFTC
Down in Dunedin for the Mega this weekend with McJandals and NZFLOSSY. Signed the log sheet MDF Thanks for the cache.
Down here for the Dunedin Geo Toroa Event from the sunny Bay of Plenty,Tauranga and are with some of Team BoP. Great to get together with our fellow cachers. Signed Logs MDF. (McJandals,Davidson clan & NZ Flossy)I am logging using the Cachly App and using their template option which helps with my memory for logging. I genuinely thank every CO for their time and effort put into these caches. Much appreciated.
We collected some enormous pine cones thank you; hoping we can get some seed out of them to grow seedlings. The log in the cache was sodden so I added a replacement log slip in a plastic bag and put the entire cache into another plastic bag. TFTC and bringing us to these interesting trees.
I have quite a few enormous cones from this type of tree but wasn't sure what the tree it came from looked like, exactly. What a nice, straight pine. SL. TFTC.
2020 hasn't been the best year for geocaching for a number of reasons so we decided a road trip from Dunedin was in order.
Caching our way from Palmerston, through Macraes and back to Mosgiel via Middlemarch.
Find count: 2091

Went out today with the aim of changing green boxes on the map to yellow, but unfortunately a few blue popped up too. Most of our finds were nice and simple, but a few took a bit of time.
Took a bit longer to find this cache but we got there eventually. tftc

#19084. Was ready to do a bit of pruning back if needed, but Troodles got stuck in and made a quick find. TFTC.
Found with StreetWalkerNZ as we continue our journey homeward. After taking the scenic coastal route, from Waihola to Dunedin, we had fewer stops as we headed north but still time to find a few Palmerston caches . It was good to have fine weather for the whole day after experiencing a bit of rain down south.
This one looked a bit daunting but it was an instant find as I fortunately accessed in the correct place. A bit prickly, though. TFTC.

Took a wee bit of hunting today, got there in the end. Log wet so added a new one. We were going to do more on the loop around here, but there was a rally car race which made us change our plans. Cheers
Time to head back home from Dunedin, spending the morning cruising around the town and the afternoon on SH1.
Thanks to all CO's for placing and maintaining their caches. Cheers

Were they Male or female or bisexual cones ? Will have to Google that. Big ones anyway. Fortified by pies in Palmerston we were off to do a loop away from the main road after this. Got headed off by a rally so back to the main drag. Gave it a new log. Tftc
Today is grabbing some caches to reach my 2500 which I plan to do at the top of Palmerston Hill so with that in mind I needed to grab 12 today before facing the hill and this was one of them. Thanks for bringing us on a different road in giving us a different view of the section of the network. The Muggle friend I had is used to getting request for truck for permits on these roads and could see what they look like, so win-win. Chicken not near cache so could get it without disturbing her.... not that she would have moved anyhow. Now onto the next one.
A quick park and grab while out about heading to Cromwell for new years eve. Grabbing a few caches to get my numbers up so I can crack 2000 before the end of the year. TFTC
A bit of prickly stuff to navigate my way through. Thanks for the botany lesson trouble is that I'll never remember it and still call it a big cone tree. TFTC # 11,465
A nice little scramble. Cones are big. I now know what species of tree that type come from.
Easter weekend beautiful day and cache was easily found however a little wet. TFTC.
Great day caching ! Thanks. Signed as PEGS, as we are all going to the Mega together.
Lead us a merry chase this one. Lots of gorse, but found it! Log was damp, might need attention. Great hide!
So many prickles! Almost gave up to return with gloves but we got it! wet log. TFTC
5996. Another wet and soggy cache. We added dry log paper in a new bag. Only saw a small large pine cone about 15cm long. At home we have one of the proper ones from the island in Lake Tekapo which had the big fire. Our one is well over 30cm long!!! Thanks for the cache which we found quite easily after negotiating our way through the gorse! Rodney and Iris. 4 to go!!
Wet log
We enjoyed the day caching in this area
Tftfun
So many caches done to remember all, but got a kick out of all that we found

Found we had a bit of spare time today so stopped in Palmerston for a coffee and a quick download of a few caches to help occupy the time. Really enjoyed all the finds in this lovely little town.
Many thanks for the placement.
Many thanks for the placement.
Watch out for the spines indeed ... While Geomum took the easy route I was clambering through a patch of the bank where spikey bushes were plentiful ... A quick find all the same. TFTC.
... found it ! ... a morning of rain showers made for a wet search-n-find. YIKES ... there are some sharp thorny bushes guarding GZ ! ... quite a few huge pine cones were scattered about. ... cool ! ... TFTH
Took a bit of hunting, the GPS had us a little bit further along.
Found on the way home from the Mega.

I visited your cache as part of a week-long self indulgent Geocaching trip from Nelson to Bluff and back again. I apologise for not leaving a completely personalised log, but I do want to thank you for the time, money and effort you put into placing your caches. Without people like you who place caches, there would be nothing for the rest of us to come and find. You are fantastic

Ok..this one was a B***. The pine tree was lovely but where the heck was the cache....plants with prickles hindered searching significantly. About to abandon search when the one last look strategy proved to work and the cache was in hand.

Reperio at 1455.
Stopped by here with Roostaman on the way to Dunedin today for the mega event, and there certainly were some spikes that I preferred stay out of my body and on the tree After a short search, the cache was located...and it was on to the next.

Another great find on the Emvy_Us / Waiiti20 mega tour of the Southern South Island. TFTC
Find number #81 during the expedition to the Mega event. Pinus pricklus made no impact on my flesh.TFTCSL
They are BIG pine cones. Picked up a few to look at and turned to leave. There it is! Why didn't we see it sooner?? Found with Aoraki Sheep.
A fairly quick find of a very wet cache. That is certainly a king size cone. TFTC
No pocket sized cones these ones ! Found one but I thought I better put it back as it was the cover for the cache. Don't think I could hang many on my Christmas tree.
On a day caching trip with ingidayna to Palmerston and surrounds to get 1000 finds. TFTC
Found on a day mission to palmerston to get these green boxes, found with wethreefourdices TFTC
And who said size doesn't matter! Us three females were well impressed. Found three to take home with us. Thanks for bringing us to this spot. TFTC
Found on an evenings cache run to Palmerston. Wow, that's certainly the biggest one I've ever seen!
