I do love trains and I wish they were used more in NZ! TFTC!!South Australia is the place be for GCA1DNA - MEGA - February 29th, 2024 in Adelaide! Hope to see you at The Great Leap Forward!
Wasn't able to find, it was our first try at geocashing so not sure if we just didn't find it or it wasn't there.
I've messaged, hopefully they reply back and we can give it another go!

Found it with a few thorns caught on my shoes. Cache appears a bit neglected and will need replacing. TFTC.
1079. 12:27 pm. Day trip with a little geocaching. 3rd find of the day. BH loved the blackberries near GZ. Found with eKitten, GRAkiWi &Co. TFTC(with a tasty snack).
First find with the kids.Took us a minute as our gps was not playing ball. Bonus was all the blackberries.
A nice quick find, and no traffic at all in that time. Taking a few back roads on my way back from Ruawai. TFTC
Working our way to Auckland avoiding the main roads brings you to the most wonderful places in tjis country. Cache was easily found, lid is missing, but not a real issue. Tftc CHLYBN
Coming back to my roots, where I grew up. It is cool to see how much has changed, yet how much remains the same. Cache was an easy park and grab. TFTC.
I love all the old days of rail, esp the steam trains glory days. it's a pity that will all go to waste eventually. But FMZ and Lostcourse and I are tiki-touring around Northland, it's been a long day that for me started at 2am when I got out of bed and FMZ picked me up at 2:30am and the day started from there. We could get the meaning of the diverging tarckes from the location and the cahe soon reveealed itself from there. Double banger this cache for me, it also doubles for the 174 degree challenge!!
Out and about with FMZ, 404 and Gorby for an epic days caching around lower Northland. It was a very early start in Auckland, then caching our way to Dargaville, before heading half way back to Auckland by heading down the peninsula to Pouto, then back to Dargaville again. Now we are making our way back to state highway one via these rural back roads. It has been a great day weather wise, clear skies and great views. Nice to, briefly, get back on some tarmac. Anyway, we parked up close to GZ and got to searching. This was quickly tracked down. I just had a look at the related page; thanks for sharing that tidbit of history. Cheers for the cache placement!
WOW a CHLYBN cache! Most of my early cache finds were yours which brings back fond memories. There can't be many of yours that I haven't found yet. I had a big day planned today and this was my last find before heading back home to Okaihau (via Kerikeri to fetch the kids). I was 20 caches short of the Turtle souvenir and I was hoping to get them today. Unfortunately I only got 13 so I'm still 7 short. I wrote quick found it logs as I went thinking that geocaching.com would be slow tonight with the souvenir challenge closing soon. Cool to see a red light on the train tracks and further along I actually saw a decent length train going under the bridge which was really neat. The cache was a quick find and nice and dry, thanks
We decided to get way for Easter and stay in Pahi with Merlot58 and Aiden29. Our last day for caching so we stayed closer to our abode as we had ventured wider in the previous 3 days. Lots of unsealed roads today. A quiet clean park and grab.
Up north with Jag50 and Aiden29. It was our last day staying in Pahi so we decided to focus on caches in the area before heading home. No problem with the find here
Headed up North with Jag50 and Merlot58 to stay in Pahi for the long weekend. Last day on our holiday and we spent it collecting caches close by. Thankfully the horse riders had just past as we headed out to find the cache.
Nothing but the tin! Signed and left gift! Kiwis geocaching so far are tight asses. Very disappointing. Easy to find this one though.
Having a great drive round the back roads with butchie bum .
Pleased to tick this one off the list.... thanks.

Out for the day to help with a Car Club event at Waiotira, so what better to do on the way home, but to look for some caches. This one was a quick find with the good clues.

Had a crack a finding this one while staying nearby for the weekend. Spent too long looking on the wrong side of the bridge so had to leave it. Returned in the dark later that night with the brother, a torch, and a very confused dog and found it in about five minutes. Great spot. Tftc.
Yeah. Back in my own stomping ground. Hot...Dusty...Pot holes everywhere. I'm home
Up early this morning with HKCB for a last caching roadtrip for the year and a chance to complete a number of missions that we had set ourselves.
Left Hamilton at 2am (it was about to be quite a long day), the day was at a much more reasonable hour by now aswe made our way into early afternoon.
This was our thirty third cache of the day and having met up with Alpenmilch80 earlier.
Having completed the MCSeries we headed over west to grab the last of our confluence points needed for a challenge that HKCB and I have been working on, so of course it was time to collect a few along the way.
Thanks for the placement, THanks for the cache

A little while ago an idea was thrown about to head north for a final caching roadtrip for the year. So along with C&D a rough plan was formed with a certain few caches, a confluence point visit, an event to attend, and the rest of the plan was to be made up as we went along. So with a 2am start Saturday morning in Hamilton it was going to be a long weekend. Also Alpenmilch80 had decided to join in on the fun as well.
Heading over to Dargaville ways to visit a confluence point so we thought we'd take a more direct route and grab a few caches along the way other than to stick to the main highway. Alpenmilch80 was out of the car and had the cache in hand once we got to GZ, before we even knew what was happening. Me and C&D were still to busy discussing which cache to head to next on the list while all this was going on. Some cool history here, thanks for the hide.

On a geocache hunt together with Cats&Dragons and HKCB caching our way up to Whangarei. It was a great day on the road with some very good cache finds . On our way to Dargaville to find a Confluence. TFTC
Wow what an interesting spot even if it was a ghost town, and the ghosts sent me the wrong way afterwards, clearly recognising i was low on time for my next engagement.. luckly managed to pick up on the error and get back on track.. following the tracks the right way.. cache in good order - log dry:-)
This afternoon we are taking a rather indirect route from Whangarei to Tangihua collecting a few scattered 'remote' caches along the way. Parked and found the Diverging tracks, before finishing our journey to the track we a walking tomorrow. Thanks.
Found orginally as part of phasevisitor team, now created own account, re-logging as yorkshirekiwi83.
We headed North for the weekend and decided to take our time and tour some of the back roads on our way up. A nice quick find here, TFTC!

First time out this way exploring. Surprise to see the number of train tracks here. TFTC
This is the first adventure i have had around this great bit of northland. It was good to see the railway in good nick.Thank you.
(533) Finally had a chance to get out this way and collect this cache. Quick find once at GZ.
We had a choice of car, or quad bikes, or on foot. We chose to be on foot!! Two minutes from our home, we discovered this cache. Very easy find, but am not so sure about the "abandoned structure"?? This little corner of the world is very much alive all hours of the day and night with trains constantly using all tracks. Even while we were writing out the log, a local, known to us, stopped and asked what we were doing!! There is not an abandoned structure in the vicinity of the cache!! However, it was fun to go and squiz after such a long time. Cache was in good condition and dry. Take your own writing implement tho..... there was only the log paper in the cache itself!! [^]
3.00pm. A bit of a detour on my way home. Was 44kms in 44minutes. 6kms more than needed because I overshot by 3kms before turning on the GPS. Easy find after all that. Good.
Thank you. David.
Thank you. David.
Luckily we chose the correct side to search so a quick find. Quite a lot of surface water in the fields after all the rain TFTC.
Ha ha. Why is it that you are out in the country with no one about looking for a cache when every man and his dog in the district just has to travel over the brigade that you are searching for a cache??? This was actually a sneaky hide for an "E" tin on a barrier. GPS had us on the other side so it took time to track this one down! Found in the shadows in the end so pleased to get the smiley face after been scrutinised by the locals! TFTC
Had a look for this on my way to a Northland Car Club Motorsport event at Paiawa Rd. A quick search failed to find it. Had a more thorough search on the way back and still couldn't spot it. Was about to give up, when I thought a slight shadow was worthy of further investigation, et voila, the cache. Difficulty a bit more than 1 IMhO. (Or maybe I just need to look on the right side of the road to start with . TFTC.
Great to have a wee spin in my "Little GEONUT BOMB" out in the country. Nice quick find and enjoyed being out this way as it's been years as all our kids have grown and left home.
Well not much else to do on a quiet wet Sunday - ha ha...
Anyway off geocaching we go - wondered if anyone would have beaten us but NO - Yippee - tikitour and I were FTF.
While we were out this way we also placed a few new caches - so look out for them.
And the bonus for us - this was another 'lonely cache' for another cache we are trying to do - amazing how hard it is to find these 'lonely ones. Thanks CHYLBN and is always great to be reminded of the busier times some of these wee settlements had. TFTC

A wet Northland day although when we headed out it was only drizzling....by the time we finished (Flower putting a few out) the rain drove us home.....this had been published a couple of days so were surprsied to see a blank log. Combined FTF with Flowernz. Loved the spot and as I am a bit of a train lover enjoyed the old yards and bridges. TFTC
