How disappointing for you, The_Trixter!
Hope you will retain the mystery and put your creative mind to the next version of Bifrost
I don't feel any sense of entitlement to know your secrets. Merely share your disappointment at the loss of a legend in the geocaching world.

I regret to say this, but due to lack of activity this cache should be archived.
As Bifrost can not be fixed in way that would make it useful or viable, regretfully I agree with PPE and it will be archived. We may be seeing Bifrost Mark2 in the future. I would like to thank everyone that spent many hours looking and enjoyed the hunt and gatherings.
Best Wishes and Happy Hunting.

Such a shame. I'm only a relative newcomer to geocaching, but my daughter and I were intrigued by Bifrost and, like many others, unsuccessfully tried to uncovered it. Since so many people took the time and effort, I personally think that the secret of Bifrost should be revealed now that it's going to be archived. Not knowing its secret is like getting to the end of a mystery novel only to find the last vital page is missing. PLEASE reveal the secret - I think that is owed to the GC community.
Bifrosts secrets will remain secret. It will probably provide the basis of Mark2 in some way.

We thank Hammerman for withdrawing the note about Bifrost.
It would have been totally contrary to the spirit of geocaching and have bought the activity into disrepute, even if it had been correct about its assumptions.

Unfortunatley the cache has been damaged and broken, potentially beyond repair. I will be taking it offline to see what can be done. The cache was checked last Sunday night and was in perfect condition at that time. Feeling dissapointed.

We've been saving this one up and took our first visit today, anticipating several trips, a challenge, and hopefully a reward at the end. Today was a super day for today's Bifrost finders (and congratulations to you both) but terrible timing for us, who came upon them unexpectedly. I am going to wait a while before coming back - I didn't see everything (or even very much at all) but did see more than I would have wished to. Wishing I had an erase button in my mind. A bit of time between now and returning may help me forget some of what I saw.

While pjmpjm and I found Bifrost today there was damage done to the cache , and there certainly was no intention to do damage to it. Unfortunately damage was done and at this stage we were not even sure that we had the cache, opening it proved to be the problem and that is where the damage occurred, most likely by me rather than pjmpjm.
I can only apologize profusely to the CO, and say that damage was accidental and not deliberate. I know that this does not make it any easier for the CO who now has to find a way to repair the cache.

Yep. You read the log title correctly. I've finally found this notorious cache after many visits to GZ. Nabbed it today together with rogerw3. Presently I'm at a loss for words and pretty worn out after a long drive and a full day of geocaching, so will be brief.
All was in good order with the hide. Cache description by the CO was indeed accurate. TNLNSL.
Many thanks to The Trixter for a memorable series of experiences, especially today's find!

A was caching near here a few days ago and I thought I would return to our beloved Bifrost once more to see how the cache looked, now that it had been restored to its former glory. I must say that it is harder to detect now then when I found it. TT has done a great job on the restoration.
Happy hunting to all the Bifostrated cachers out there.

With half a day to myself and glorious weather how could I not go caching.. my 10 find streak was soon to come to a screaming halt..
However even with this in mind..
How could a trip to Sydney be complete without a visit to this institution..?
Wow.. it lived up to the hype.. its not too dissimilar to any other GZ.. nothing out of place.. it should be an easy find.. however.. its hard to ignore the past and look with a clear head.. instead I mostly sat and wondered.. pondered even..
With only an hour up my sleeve and with another 2 nearby DNF's to log I was soon on the road again.. Thanks Trixter for the DNF and congratulations ..

Last weekend, after Melbourne Storm won their place in the 2012 NRL Grand Final after beating Manly in the preliminary final, we knew we knew for sure we would be travelling from Melbourne to Sydney this weekend.
A couple of weeks ago, when we started talking about the possibility that Storm may actually make the Grand Final, we knew for sure we would be coming to Bifrost.
Lucky for us, Storm did what they needed to do and we found ourselves in Sydney Town. Grand Final morning seemed like the perfect time tackle the infamous Bifrost as it gave us plenty of time to search and it kept our minds of the big game that afternoon.
We arrived at 10:00AM and gave ourselves a deadline of 11:30AM.
Not too many muggles about. However, we did get trapped under the bridge at one stage. We were both under there looking around when we started hearing a shuffly snuffly noise and little 'tap, tap, taps' getting closer followed by a little high pitched bark and a small shadow overhead. A little doggy and her owner had come across the bridge and doggy could obviously hear or smell us under the bridge. They stopped atop the bridge for what seemed like a couple of minutes while we just sat there trying not to laugh or make any noise at all really. Unfortunately, I don't think it would have made any difference because the can of Pepsi Max on top of the bridge and the backpack resting on a rock nearby were clear evidence that someone was close by. Oops. Eventually dog and muggle moved on but not before doggy raced of the end of the bridge to have a peak down underneath and seeing us. She barked once then trotted away. It was almost like she was saying, 'WOOF! I KNEW SOMEONE WAS THERE! We can go now.'
We hunted high. We hunted low. We hunted in. We hunted under. We hunted over. We hunted everywhere the cache wasn't or if we did search where it was we just could not find it.
Our deadline of 11:30 soon arrived and we packed up and said goodbye to Bifrost.
Thank you so much to The Trixter for a great cache. We really hoped we would find it but it wasn't to be this time. Perhaps we'll be back another day to try again.

Didn't find it and didn't really expect to. I think we just went there to finally see the site of the famous Bifrost. We'll be back.
FYI.... Heading down to GZ soon with a group of Western Australian caches. There from the mining town so this should help.
May see some of you there today.

Well all 8 of us turned up ready for a real group effort and Hmmm who do we have here?.... none other than Hammerman and his lovey wife. After a quick catch up we set about looking for this nemesis.
Just trying to think of another angle but after 1 more hour and that adds up to 8 hours here today.
With nothing but extra confusion from Hammerman.
You will not see the other DNFS due to none members that assisted me today.
Thanks to Wrightspot Sueprise and my Geo boys for your help.

Out on yet another glorious Sunday morning with Footyfanatics. The days just keep getting better. Tried our best to find it but so many hiding places. Will return when I have more time up my sleeve. Hopefully no sleepless nights until then.
Attempted this most tricky of caches this afternoon with no luck. We searched around for nearly 45 minutes, even met the Trixter but without luck. Nice to meet you mate.

Tried twice today with so many ideas but no joy. We think we touched just about every item at GZ and surrounds except the devil himself. We spent a frustrating 3 and a half hours in total in our 2 visits. The most frustrating part is I know I probably sat on it, looked at it or touched it without knowing.
I said last time I probably won't be back and I said it again this time, but I will probably come back. Oh well, back to the drawing board, time for some more research.
Thanks for a great hunt.

Three and a half hours in two shifts with mrryanmurray and Fairbz. Even had a found it moment and with my heart beating through my chest I called everyone over only to pull out what looked like an empty $2 sowing kit container. At least I knew that I was probably looking in a spot that no one else had. Next time I return, I'm going to layout 1 metre by 1 metre grids and comb the area CSI style, or bring a backhoe...
Well, I had a dream last night that I found Bifrost, so as I'm still on holidays and geodaughter razorsgirl_23 is visiting we decided to make the pilgrimage today.
After about 2 hours of fruitless searching we threw in the towel. I mean, it's discouraging to know that 261 others have been here before us without any success, and it's galling to know that we must have been so physically close to the little monster.
But what a magnificent hide Trixter - congratulations.

WOW 260 DNF's... would you like to hide a bitfrost over here in Albury/Wodonga?
The whole time this was off line it gave me plenty of time to build my new secrete weapon! I formed a team of small Geodiggers and we set off in my new Mini Tunneling Machine! (MTM). This was what I thought a shore way of approaching GZ in a different way! We climbed out of the hatch and found no one around I put the Geodiggers in place and with another hour passing we climbed back into the MTM and left. This Rainbow Bridge has left us ruling out that idea but for some very strange reason I will be back.
Thanks to MattKwashere> and Jaywalker for there help today.

NB: Please watch your step as I tried to cover up the hole
OH and make that 261 DNFs.

TFTC Trixter,
Going to Lake Parrammatta for a picnic lunch and being very early we decided to take a side trip out here and try our luck. What a wonderful setting to create the earthly end of Bifrost. The only thing missing was public toilets. If they were available, we would have enjoyed the area for longer. I was amazed that we could spend so much time here on a Sunday morning without anyone other than a couple of locals and their dogs getting some exercise. It is still worthy of a favourite for a DNF (my first and probably the only one I will ever give).
While I can't log my visit as a success, I have carried a group of trackables to this historic Cache site and will visit them so the trackable owners can know they have been a part of my failure to change history, what was it 254 DNF's before Rainbow Spirit made the discovery? This must have been a world first.
We (Nana Nell and I) spent a good half an hour looking for the elusive cache container but in the end while having examined several suspisious items very carefully had to walk away without being successfull. I will be back to try again.

Will try and make it down tomorrow afternoon at some point - will be keen to meet up with a few more geocachers to give this cache another crack
3rd visit today going over some old ground - and possibly some new, trying to think where this sneaky little cache had been hidden. After spending at least 20 mins at GZ I came up empty as to where it's been hidden, and so yet again called a DNF - maybe I won't ever find it.
Went to see what all the fuss is about. Spent about half an hour, clambering around, under and over but nothing caught my eye. Will have to come back with the family so I at least don't look so suspicious to passers by.
Well a home preparing a new cache when I received the enable listing for bifrost so I jumped in the geovan with the kids off we went....arrived at gz and thought to myself were do I start???
Hoping not to run over the same ground as I did the last 11 times that I've been there so I sat down and try to think of a way that I would hide a cache in this enviroment but I come up with nothing.....Trixter your quality is still there 4dxplor and I went over every rock twice sometimes 3 times within 4 mtrs of GZ even expanded our search to 5mtrs but no dice.....
As this is the closest cache to home 1km away I'll keep an eye on this cache again thanks for the torment Trixter ,cheers.

Thor and Loki have fought hard and well, rendering Bifrost broken. The halls of Asgard were scoured for all the dark energy that could be found, the rainbow bridge is now restored to sit once more between this world and Asgard.
Enjoy the hunt.

I think even the CO would agree with me on this one: firstly why on earth has the logs of this cache become such a ground for arguing when this cache will be active ?? If memory serves me correctly, The Trixter was under the weather and couldn't get to it. That amongst some other possible more important matters that needed attending to (may be right or wrong). If this happened on one of my caches I'd ask that if any of you had any questions or concerns regarding the cache to send me a private message, NOT to use the log system to badger the owner to find out when the cache will be back online. And if it were me, I'd be deleting every one of the notes asking when the cache will be back online, have some sense and some patience people, as I even stated in my prior post, the cache will be good and ready in due time, when Trixter has got the time to put it back and bring it online - he will!! So might I even say - got any queries? Message the CO himself and keep the nasty stuff off the logs
I simply posted a note for it to be archived as in all fairness it has been 3 months now and I'm pretty sure many of us get emailed or logged on caches that require possible archiving after 3 weeks so why is it so different for others that do not enable their caches for 3 months. My note was not an invitation for ppl to argue the fact about archiving this cache as I want to find it as much as anyone else. Why ppl take my note personally is their own perogative but seriously is 'soon' going to be another 3 month's? Is there a time limit in the guidelines that states ur cache can only be disabled for so long. I have seen many caches archived after it being only disabled for 2 weeks!!!!
Why should this cache receive any special treatment from normal maintenance requirements?
2.1.2.2 "... If a cache is not being maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an unreasonable length of time, we may archive the listing."
2.1.2.2 "... If a cache is not being maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an unreasonable length of time, we may archive the listing."
So long as the CO has made a note on the log page, and stated that they will have the cache up and running soon, that is enough to keep Ministro at bay....and that has happened. It will happen for all COs who bother to reply to a archive request by replying with a log note.
In fact The Trixster has told me directly that the cache will soon be up and running.

As stated in my note on the 12th I should be getting this up shorty (prior to the NA log). If I can't find the time I will archive it myself. I appreciate the patience of the caching community at large. If anyone has a specific concern send me a note and I will be happy to reply. I will not be posting pictures up of the cache. I simply ask that if you find it, keep the secret.

its been 3 months this cache has been disabled, surely this should be archived by now!
Visited GZ @ 14:00 with AmethystPig on a caching day in Sydney. I had to travel to UNSW to receive a piece of paper and managed to score a day of caching. After all the hype, this was going always going to be on the list. Despite being disabled, a visit was made (and photos taken with GPSr in hand).
Grabbed a nearby cache to validate the visit, and continued on to a cluster of caches further north.
Took nothing, left nothing, found nothing, but made the pilgrimage.
Thanks for the cache The Trixer.

Would loved to have tried for this one, but it was not to be on this trip. Quite a peaceful place when there aren't hordes of cachers scrambling around fighting for the first (I imagine). SirJ-Oz & I took a photo and had a quick poke around just 'cause we were there.
Morning The Trixter,
Just curious when Bifrost is going to be back online ? I understand you may have other things that would take precedence, but would like to find out when this cache would be back online so I can try and find it

Unfortunately the cache is in need of some TLC. The bad weather, combined with being under the weather for quite a while mean I haven't had a chance to get out there. I'm hoping to get the cache up soon.

2TF at 14:14 on the 14th of May
What a journey this has been! After logging 8 DNF’s on this cache and even using a metal detector, industrial strength magnet, and night searching it just came down to perseverance and careful observation of everything at GZ, before it finally revealed itself.
I was enjoying a RDO with my geo-wife when our geo-son Cattledog81 also on an RDO called in at Geo-HQ and suggested that we take him to Bifrost as he has not visited this now famous site.
My Geo-wife quickly prepared some sandwiches and it was off to have a picnic in the park. We all again went through what had been written in the logs and on the forum. After almost 2hours we were about to call it quits. Then I asked that question again if I was hiding this cache where would I hide it? Again I started my search and thought OMG could this be it! I carefully opened the log to find Rainbow Spirit’s name there and I knew we had found it.
We were amazed at the simplicity and the complexity of this cache which in itself creates its clever disguise.
We are all relieved that we are no longer Bi-frustrated and this journey is now completed.
Thanks Trixter.

Congrats to jkcourtz and Cattledog81! Well done guys, there's certainly no shame coming second on this cache. Every find is a winner!
Well done jkcourtz for your 2tf hopefully I'll be able to visit GZ and be 3rd time lucky and find it
I have been advised bifrost is partially broken and needs some repairs. It is now offline.

For months now, all I've heard about is BIFROST! " have you found it yet dad? " was all I kept saying! Amongst all the attempts from all who have travelled far and wide somehow I thought too myself, how hard could it be. For a game that gives you the exact location and the size of the object truly how hard people? Well, I found out today! I gave up my RDO for the thrill of the hunt! After arriving at GZ I was horrified too see the carnage from the MANY cachers that had been before me! I was quickly given GZ from dad and with a cheeky smile he said " Go on, YOU find it!" Well, after two hours of trying to put my spin on the whole BIFRUSTRATION, I was feeling very deflated! That's when I heard those THREE little WORDS from dad! " I FOUND IT! " I would usually log my reply, but as this is a family game let's just leave that bit CENSORED! The rest is history! Photos were taken, hands were shook, and most importantly LOGS WERE SIGNED! To the Trixter, WELL DONE! really WELL DONE! Through a well placed and designed cache you have brought the geocaching community together, raised some important issues and set a VERY high benchmark for others to achieve! TFTH and Thank you for my first Pathtag, and what better trophy than that of H&T from BIFROST. Congrats also to my wonderful geodad JKCOURTZ for 2TF, dad, you can finally get some sleep! To the rest of the caching community, GOOD LUCK in your hunt for the awesome cache that is BIFROST.
Well my solo find on this cache has been short lived, if it had to be anyone, I'm glad it was the jkcourtz team and son. What with 9 visits to the cache they really deserved it.
Here's hoping that The Trixter can return the hide to its former glory, so as it can frustrate many more of we poor cachers.

Heard about this over the weekend while out caching. We live not far away so came with geokids. Lots of rocks around and reminds us of a cache amongst rocks by a beach up the North coast - a nightmare if co-ords are out.
Google satellite map pinpoints the bridge. If that's not correct, can CO at least update the coordinates so that Google map shows the right spot in satellite mode? Even though GPS can be out by 5m, satellite mode is pretty helpful for caching and encourages accuracy. 5m range is tough when there are that many rocks around and no other clues as to which area to look. Any clues would be helpful. Thanks.

Came back today with an idea from Amelia and Co. visit but after 20min I had to go home good thing too cause got a call from school just as we got home Geoson got injured and we needed to sort him out! Will be back!
Another day another DNF. I noted sadly that another large sandstone block has been split since I was here last week (about 6m east of "ground four").
Congratulations to Rainbow Spirit for a legendary find.

Sadly my Nanny passed away, so my son and I travelled down for the funeral....
Right I'm doing Bifrost. I planed to head over on Saturday. I was at the Wake on Friday and my cousin Gibbo455 gets a email.
She says 'Omg, Bifrost is found'!!!!!! one day early....
Ohhhh well we went for a looksy on Saturday anyway. More so I could say I had been there.
I sat and observed but nope nothing, zero, zilch
May try again before heading home or when my cousin wants a visitor again.

I have wanted to attack this Lil bugger from day dot but was pregnant so couldn't get down.
Sadly my Nanny passed away, so my son and I travelled down for the funeral....

Again we returned with another idea and again we were bifrustrated. We arrived at GZ and found a cacher all the way from Melbourne trying his luck and also we finally got to meet the cache owner The Trixter.
Came back for a 2nd shot at Bifrost trying to picture where RainbowSpirit would have gone to find this elusive cache. Got to GZ and tried a couple of my theories - both failed. Searched a couple more - then after a while after a bit of bifrostration setting in - I decided to call yet another DNF. *shakes fist* Damn you Trixter hehehe
I ,
- thought I had a chance,
- thought "seriously how hard can this be?",
- have been under,
- have been over,
- seen the GCA frog under there,
- have logged the munzee,
- examined the tree,
- come at it from different angles,
- got covered in cobwebs,
- have pulled,
- have pushed,
- have probed with my magnetic light (and bent it in the process),
- have made several and discounted many more theories,
- have listened to the evidence,
- have heard how long some people spend here, and how methodical they are,
- have stumbled over the rocks,
- have seen the strange kangaroo rock carving,
- have got my boots wet,
- kept saying "zero is here, zero is here", "so 4m is about here",
- have got sunburn,
- met the CO Trixter on the bridge and watched him closely - it didn't help,
- didn't find anything at all.

Called in here with Amelia and Co. on the way to airport the day after the miracle. We searched for about 20 min found a frog but not the cache.
Ran into the muggle neighbours who asked if we had found it, no but it was found yesterday. Even they looked for it apparently without succes.

I suppose I thought that now this has been found, it would miraculously appear. Surprisingly this wasn't the case I had a bit of look but wasn't really looking at anything I haven't already looked at, still looks the same.
Well done Rainbow Spirit!
Well done Rainbow Spirit!
Well done Rainbow Spirit on finding bifrost some times persistence pays off,not to mention experience and dedication to the hobby ,cheers.
Congratulations to Rainbow Spirit. I have only been watching the events at Bifrost since January 2012 and can feel it is fitting that a skilled Cacher has achieved this status. I can only feel that you will enjoy this success. I will spread the news to a fellow Cacher in America who has expressed interest in this challenge.
Congratulations to Rainbow Spirit for his FTF!
I arrived on site just before 5pm and expected GZ to be crawling with geocachers hoping that RS's amazing find would somehow rub off on them . . .
But I was completely alone expect for the occasional passing muggle . . .
This was my fourth visit and I had a few slightly new ideas, but all was in vain. I did some crawling and some exploration on the fringes of GZ, but finally it was so dark that I decided to call it a day.
I did log the local Munzee and found a Leap Frog lurking under a nearby gum tree, so all was not lost . . .

Way to Go, Rainbow Spirit! You have entered the annuls Geocaching Australia as a legend!
Been watching this one for a while and was starting to wonder if it was just a troll. But a big congratulations to RS! You found it and I probably never will.... haha and it'll really annoy me
I am humbled by all the congratulation notes here. Thanks to all of you for the kind messages.
I must say I was surprised in the end how easy it was to find today, I think mother nature played a part in the end. That's about all I can say as The Trixter has asked me not to divulge any hints on where it is, suffice to say it is within 5m of the Google GZ.
I must say I'm amazed at how much interest there is in this cache as it only has one favourites vote....

Congrats RainbowSpirit, you can now be crowned the best cacher in the world.
Well done.
Well done.
Congrats Rainbow Spirit - I have been watching with interest from afar and am both pleased and disappointed that it has fallen!
One day I may make it over there to take a look myself!

Congrats to Hammer and Trixter is the first thing I would like to say, it seems there caching integrity is and always has been in tack! Shame on the cachers that have thought other wise.
Well done to Rainbow Spirit is the last thing I wanted to say....as I really wanted to find it first [;D]

I have been watching this cache for months now, from Texas. I thought it would never be found! Congratulations to Rainbow Spirit! You must be very proud of this FTF.
After Rainbow Spirit FTF today which we discussed over dinner my geo-wife suggested that it is a nice evening for a drive so by 7pm we were again at Bifrost, hoping for a 2TF, ha ha by 10pm I was getting pretty tired and we decided to call it a night. We will be back.
Congrats on the FTF!!! My geomum let me know this has finally been found, and that I should cancel my flight from Seattle to come and find it before anyone else. This one has had a storied existence so far, nice job!
An incredible effort and as has been mentioned this cache is a legend maker!!! Who will be 2TF ???
Bum, I was going to have a crack at the FTF on Sunday, but at this rate it will probably be 29 TF !
Congrats on your find - you've won the $25 Geostuff gift voucher ! Just let me know your email address and I will forward it to you.
I also just updated: www.hasbifrostbeenfoundyet.com

Congrats Rainbow on your FTF was going to have a crack at it Sunday, will still turn up see if I can get a 2TF
Well what can I say...I arrived at GZ to be confronted by a muggle, I waited them out, which was a blessing as I eventually approached from a slightly different direction to my other times. I poked about for a few minutes until something caught my eye.......could it be?, well it was a cache and it did have a blank log book, although it wasn't marked as Bifrost.. So I signed the virgin log and replaced it as best I could.
I made some calls and eventually got onto the CO and YES it was Bifrost, YEEHAA! I can confirm that it is where the CO has stated, and it is a small.

Congratulations and well done “Rainbow Spirit” on finding this elusive cache, we are pleased that you achieved this milestone. Now I am sure that the caching community will descend upon GZ.
A huge congratulations to Rainbow Spirit on what can only be described as a momentuous achievement. Your name will be envied in caching history forever!!!
Congratulations Rainbow Spirit! It's funny, when I was reading the emails I turned to Anna, who isn't that much of a cacher and just said "It's been found" and she knew exactly what I was talking about without having to ask. It's achieved that amount of legendary status! [^] [^] [^]
Well done Rainbow Spirit! May the 4th be with you! How full is your inbox right now????
Great work and great eyes! I hope to close this soon if I can push my way through the crowded GZ.
Well done rainbow spirt on finding bifrost, now can I rely on you for a paf?lol, cheers.
2/05/12 11:00 PM I came to see what all the fuss was about and armed with some tech I commenced my search of GZ where my device detected something unusual but further investigation was interupted by an approaching car on the nearby street.....hmmm the attention of the police is the last thing I need. I'd better get outta here.
CONGRATULATIONS go out to Rainbowspirit...find has been confirmed...I find it amusingly appropriate that the rainbow bridge (bifrost) has been found by the Rainbowspirit.....once again congratulations...
Visited this spot again... But alas like all the others.. it is still a DNF..
Interest is fading on this cache, so i think a clue might be needed to ignite the searchers again... Not a giveaway clue, but maybe a clue like... above or below... or a true measurment of the cache itself..... or new, more accurate co ords...
I will not return to this one until more information is revealed..
I like challenging caches, not imposible ones...
