It looks like recent tree trimming has rendered this cache impossible to get to, the back of the tree is completely blocked by fallen branches and debris. Could use a check to confirm. Cheers.
After whatching a rugby match in Maungakaramea, we nailed this one. Thanks to my daughters sharp eyes!
This was an opportunistic find - drove along here for the first time ever this afternoon to visit a property, and on the way back I realised there were a couple of caches to be found. No problems with this one, spotted it quickly. Signed log, TFTC
Oops, wrote 20th on the logs instead of 19th today! Hubby wanted to look at a hot rod, so caching was the compromise. Had a nice drive to Waiotira with son in the back. He enjoyed his ride in the hot rod, patting the dog and goats and....well no, he didn't ENJOY eating the sheep poo.... Anyway. Found this one on the way back. Very easy find, despite wearing jandals. Nice and dry and loads of loot.
Up early this morning with HKCB for a last caching roadtrip for the year and a chance to complete a number of missions that we had set ourselves.
Left Hamilton at 2am (it was about to be quite a long day), the day was at a much more reasonable hour by now aswe made our way into early afternoon.
This was our thirty second cache of the day and having met up with Alpenmilch80 earlier.
Having completed the MCSeries we headed over west to grab the last of our confluence points needed for a challenge that HKCB and I have been working on, so of course it was time to collect a few along the way.
Thanks for the placement, THanks for the cache

A little while ago an idea was thrown about to head north for a final caching roadtrip for the year. So along with C&D a rough plan was formed with a certain few caches, a confluence point visit, an event to attend, and the rest of the plan was to be made up as we went along. So with a 2am start Saturday morning in Hamilton it was going to be a long weekend. Also Alpenmilch80 had decided to join in on the fun as well.
Heading over to Dargaville ways to visit a confluence point so we thought we'd take a more direct route and grab a few caches along the way than to stick to the main highway. Pulled up to GZ and worked our way into the inner depths of the big tree before we laid our eyes on the cache. Thanks for the placement.

On a geocache hunt together with Cats&Dragons and HKCB caching our way up to Whangarei. It was a great day on the road with some very good cache finds . TFTC
Spiders scared us hahaha great tree. Veered off our tracks to grab this one. Not too far off tho.
Driven passed this loads but never stopped. Finally found on our adventure tonight, by one keen cacher, while the others kept guard for muggles. Tftc
While checking a map of Northland for caches with a certain 'remoteness' for an Auckland Challenge, we noticed a couple of caches that we had found back in January but had missed logging. This Big Tree cache was one of them.
We parked our camper a little further down the road and walked back to the tree, which is certainly a good size. The cache was found after a short search. TFTC.

heading up north via a more friendly route then all the silly holiday makers who all decided to take off on my first day off - ( how was i to know it was holiday time!) route had us turning right back down the road but made a quick left to check this guy out... nice tree too.. cache nice and happy;-)
We drove past this at first, then realised the clue in the cache name! Easy find after that. Clean, dry and tidy cache. TFTC
Saw evidence of nearby storm damage to the Big Tree too, a huge specimen despite it being dark, TFTC.
Four of us had stayed in the Lodge on Friday then tramped over to Tangihua Hut on Saturday before coming out to the road end on Sunday. Other tramping club members stayed at the Lodge both nights and one kindly came to pick us up on Sunday. So the opportunity to get a few more caches in this remote are was too good to miss. We had attempted this cache on the way to the Lodge on Friday but not only was it too dark but the GPS batteries gave up as we started along the road. So we left it for our journey out on Sunday and found it without difficulty as the GPS indicated the correct tree. Many thanks for the warning about the barbed wire. TFTC
Found orginally as part of phasevisitor team, now created own account, re-logging as yorkshirekiwi83.
We headed North for the weekend and decided to take our time and tour some of the back roads on our way up. After ducking down behind the tree, the cache was soon in hand. TFTC!

Found it and grabbed Mario for his onward journey. Left a rain poncho fo drizzle!
At first I went to the wrong side of the tree but KT knew what hee was doing. O left the 'It's Me Mario' in there too.
This cache was fun, thanks
This cache was fun, thanks
Driving along out in the country & seeing the big tree & big cache. Not to many around these days. TFTC
Found fairly easily, on our way back from shopping in Whangarei. Pays one to enter the north side of the tree, less hazards!! Good idea to take a First Aid Kit tho...
Took nothing out, left an old Sports Medallion. TFTC

Todays mission is to reach 500 caches with the help of Mini Mob. #499 Yes a big tree to find your way around. Found the cache quickly then fought my way back out!! Mini Mob hadn't missed me ...too busy on smart phone playing games I think but was rewarded with a lolly. TFTC.
On our way to do the "loop" and play golf at the Mangopai Golf club (which we found out later does not exist) so ended up at Waiotira? Golf Club -oh well. Took a few minutes to find the cache as we went around the wrong side first which turned out to be a little bloody.
Yep, too busy watching the road with Red junior in charge of the GPS so we flew past this one. Did a u turn and had another go, spotting the tree as we went past again but there was no parking on our side of the road. Continued further down the road until I found somewhere to turn the car around yet again and then went past the 2 farmers having a chat on the side of the road for the 3 rd time (they were probably thinking "Crazy Lady or just another lost JAFA"), before pulling over at the right spot. Made a quick dash into find the cache. TFTC and chance to practise my 3 point turns!
A big tree indeed. Thanks for the warning about the wire, I saw it and managed to avoid it. It was just getting dark when I reached the cache, but I had a torch so located the cache without too much difficulty. TFTC!
Would have felt less conspicuous for this one if I had ridden the pushbike as originally planned, LOL but luckily no one around to take notice & it was quick and easy. darn, did I miss a trackable swap-opp here ? don't recall seeing one... but perhaps I was too busy looking at the other goodies (well stocked!) TFTC
I wonder what the passing motorist thought when he saw me emrge from behind the tree.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
11.50am. Managed to find and replace without getting hung up on any barbed wire. Rescued a geocoin.
Thank you. David and Geoff.

Kids ARE useful for something! Like sending them behind big tree's on the side of the road so the mothers don't look dodgy. Found with clinchthedeal & Co. TFTC!
Out for a wee spin in my "Little GEONUT Bomb". Nice drive in the country. Had to wait for muggle with whole herd of cows to go by.Another empty log book.
