As this cache has been out of action for too long, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

I noticed that this cache has been in need of owner maintenance for an extended period of time well in excess of the period of "a few weeks" as contemplated by the cache guidelines published on Geocaching.com. While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for you and block other caches from entering the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can't do so forever. Please either repair/replace this cache, or archive it (using the archive listing link in the upper right) so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location.
If you plan on repairing this cache, please log a note to the cache (not email) and then repair the cache within the next 30 days so I don't archive the listing for non-communication/action.

We hadnt read the past logs, but quickly found the thing in the hint but no cache.. since there are so many DNFs on this one, it's pointless to add another one.. we quickly decided to just move on.
Impressive figure though

Went looking for this one, without checking old logs, and funnily enough didn't find it. Did bring us to this interesting spot while our takeaways were being cooked. Hopefully someone can replace this, as it is a good spot for a cache.
looked exactly where i thought might have been a shocking event if i had actually tried to scratch any further.
Searched for quite a while but did not find it, even though we knew exactly where to look. Went and had coffee at McCafe as a consolation. Rodney and Iris.
Came back three times with NZFlossy as there were a couple of ladies keeping their eye on us - sure we knew where it was, but nothing but leaves???
Saw the hint very quickly but could not find even with clearing out all the leaves - This one may need checking
Was a bit tricky, but had it sorted once we worked out the clue. Our first nano . Very cool. TFTC
Working in Sth Waikato and time for a few caches after work with Casserley Family. Good thing I have small hands...previous logs helped with this one. TFTC
Nice carving. Hint missing but a process of deduction helped find the no longer magnetic cache. Enjoyable find while playing the tourist. TFTC
Stopped in for takeaways and took the opportunity to make our acquaintance with the Pine Man. We weren't too confident of a find but it was nice and easy in the end. Still not magnetised so that should narrow down the search a bit. The hint all makes sense if you are very observant and can make connections. TFTC

this one took a little time after reading other comments, rather busy so just spent time looking at the wooden man, may need looking at it as there is a small issue, thanks
Heading to the south Waikato to get some new and old caches. Have the bike in the boot incase it is needed.
Fine and clear and about 26degrees and no clouds.
Didn't have the clue with me so missed it

After two nights in Taupo we headed home to Hamilton today. A quick refreshment stop in Tokoroa which gave the 9-year-old enough time to locate this cache. A little bit of thought and we had it sussed. Magnet not working on cache...so look about.
Managed to retrieve by using a writing implement and discovered in the leaf litter. Magnet is no more and the hint has also been vandalised. TFTCSL
Found on our way to the beach. Easy to spot today (previously had a DNF). Magnet needs replacing though.
The clue has vanished but luckily it's twin had one so we could deduce the cache lurked. TFTC!

Took a bit of searching but once clue was deciphered easy find. Log difficult to write on though.
#3555. The chainsaw's back. A popular place for visitors. Fortunately, it generally was a quick photo stop, and soon the coast was clear. Quick find. TNLNSL. TFTC.
Circled a couple of times, then spotted a related hint item & it all made sense. Cache still there although no longer magnetic as others have logged. Great carving too, TFTC
An easy find unfortunately - because the magnet has been lost so cache had fallen below its hiding place. No way it's going to attach so attempted to tuck it under but wouldn't be surprised if someone who's not a cacher found it. Needs maintenance.
First micro cache for us as we are beginners. Would think that maintenance workers would view this cache as trash if they ever clean the area. TFTC
When the other day. Looked pretty much everywhere and the clue just confuzzled us more!
On a cache sortie from Rotorua. Found it after a bit of head scratching. Could not work out the meaning of the clues, until we attended the 12-12-12 event in Rotorua and were put straight. It is a bit embarrassing, seeing we worked for the manufacturer of the product.

Found at 8:03 AM GAFF1. Looks like as we were having breakfast Phetlern came through here and found the cache! We have been with them for 4 weeks and departed on our separate ways this very morning and look what happens - we nearly meet again.
The Pine man has his chainsaw back btw.
Thanks bruce32

En route from Taupo to Auckland, to catch the bird and wind back the clock, we couldn’t resist the challenge of returning to Australia with a number ending in double zero! The pine man seems to be back to his old self – chainsaw in hand keeping an eye on the comings and goings around him.
TNLN . . SL . . Thanks for the hunt bruce32.

Greetings from Canada! Heading to Hobbiton today and then to the coast. Only two more days in NZ Clever hide - TFTC!
Second attempt at this one and got the micro in hand soon enough. Struggled to get the log paper out. TFTC
We found this one together with friend viki.czech. It was crazy because our bus almost left because of this cache.. but mission accomplished. tftc
We had just several minutes to find this cache. On our way to Auckland during bus break. Bus was leaving at 17:10 and we found this one at 17:07. After we had found it we found out our pen doesn't work! But at the end we handled it although our bus almost left. Crazy idea!
Found with the help of Rossmar (hope I spelled that right).
The hint no longer seems to apply, as it appears to have worn away (weathered or scratched off).

We have stopped here once before but it was too muggly at GZ to attempt a find. All quiet tonight except for another cacher, nice to meet you a_rat. the sneaky hide was soon located and the log duly signed. Great local artwork TFTC.
This town has so many wonderful wooden sculptures - they are everywhere. It reminded me of a virtual cache with a much smaller sculpture in a tree in Amsterdam - GCH623 TFTC #3721
I will replace cache by next weekend - just purchased a suitable replacement and am waiting for it to arrive in the mail
I couldn't find this time either. Time for owner to check on it with all the dnf

Nice hide. I couldn't find the cache on my first visit, but some midnight inspiration and caching instinct got me there.

No luck for me either. Found hint place, looked around. Cache wasn't spotted. Maybe next time *sigh*
Lots of leaves at *HINT* spot, but couldn't find nano. I'll have to look another day when there's not so much traffic around.
An impressive looking man to visit. Mrs W.E.K.A. decided on a likely hiding spot, and Mr W.E.K.A. solved the hint just as she put her hand on the cache. TFTC

Another one of those caches I've visited before without logging the DNF. Had an inkling where to search for this one, but didn't trust myself enough. Went to find something to eat and returned to resume search. Discovered the hint and everything fell into place. TFTC and really happy to sign off on this one.
Picked this one up as we were heading to Taupo/Rotorua for a romantic weekend away.

love this pine man-love to have him in me front yard-easy find once me read clue again -cheers jumbo
4.00pm. Just time for a quick stop on our way back from a funeral in Hawkes Bay. Had no where to parka month ago when we came through with the caravan in tow. No such problem today. And no trouble with muggles. Followed the hint and understood it after the find! This is a great work of art. And the chainsaw is back in place.
Thank you. David and Noeline.

A great sculpture and definitely worthy of a cache placement. Thanks for the nice quick find, no muggles in the vicinity to cope with but McD's near by so we grabbed an ice cream before hitting the road again! TFTC

Busy spot but managed to stay under the radar long enough to extract, sign and replace it. TFTC
WP spot on, and a lesson for the butterfly to not decrypt a non-cryptic hint. Thought to transpose it to txt equivalent, which turned out to be logical but wrong.
Called here on the way back to Wellington today. Nice statue! Located cache after a few minutes' search - the logstrip is pretty wet and was tending to tear rather than unroll, and it was extremely difficult to write on. I think another one (preferably waterproof paper) is needed along with another sealing ring for the container. Signed log, TFTC!
8651 Have driven past and stopped on numerous occasions and admired the Pine Man, many thanks for placing a cache here.
We admire the statue of the Pine Man whenever we travel through Tokoroa. It was great to have a reason to stop for a closer look today. Took a bt of searching before we spotted the tiny nano. Nice hide, thanks.

Found during the sixth day of vacation in North Island, on our way from Pauanui to Turangi.
A day dedicated to the earthcaches but not only.

Found while out and about with the DIMwits. Were totally stumped at first, by the location and the clue... But once we worked it out it all made sense! TFTC!
Hadn't been quite this close to Pine Man before. It was getting quite dark so we thought this one wood be difficult, but the carved man was lit up nicely making a quick find. TFTC.
Walked around and around reading and looking and thinking .... and then had an "ah-ah moment".
Thank you to Rotary for the Pine Man and TFTC!

A few laps of the pine man and reading a few logs came up with a possible hide.
Thanks for bringing us for a close up look of the sculpture.
Could not find reference to the hint but maybe we were not seeing it.
Had a bit of trouble with the shiny logsheet but managed a mark there.

After a few circles of the pine man we resorted to the clue. Found quickly with the hint.
