On the trail today and stopped to get this one and man was I in for a shock, I had to go up there and climb over the barbed wire fence without catching myself then cross the road and attempt to locate gz and what would you know there it was just waiting to be signed and then I had to rewind myself to get back to my two wheeled cache mobile and head north for Lauder. Thanks for the placement and the smiley. Oh yes I didn't get caught on the barbed fence both ways
With easter weekend upon us we decided to do a quick trip to Otago so we could ride the rail trail bike track. This has been on our bucket list for a very long time and so we decided last week that we would pack up the campervan and come and do it. I had decided to start in Alex and follow the rail trail up to Clyde then bike the river track back to Alex then on to Lauder.GK clambered up to go and find this one from the rail trail, not sure that my legs really wanted to climb up there so I stayed and looked after the bikes. Really enjoying the trail so farThanks for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley
If i had read the description properlly, it would have been an easier find. Was searching along the road for a while when i decided to have another read and then it clicked. Tftc
Day 1 of the rail trail. Bit of a scramble from the trail, but still a welcome break from the cycle up the hill. Found after a bit of searching. Tftc
Found after 5 minutes of searching, but in the first place I looked.
Thanks to the late Onslow Fisherman, and now Sonya and Dean.

On a weekend with Mr&MrsFSo this morning we were up and away, and as of not been here before, really enjoying the new scenery.
Out on a trip down memory lane for DSI and a first time visit for AnnieLin. We had a lot of fun and laughter and slips along with learning more about our local area history. Great day had by all

I have driven past this cache 7 times in the last 4 days so I was determined to stop on my 8th passing and sign it out of my unfound cache list. Mission accomplished. TFTC Jim.
glad to get to the top. chance for a breather. bit nasty getting over fence to get to gz.
Having left the snail shell back in Alexandra I came out in my cachemobile to locate and sign a few of the caches up side and back roads. Visited some interesting places and saw some great sights.
Have to be careful parking and retrieving the cache.
Cheers for the cache.

Visiting from Auckland. Cycling the Otago Central Rail Trail. Rode from Omakau to Clyde. Sent son up to find this so I could gain some time on the family cycling. Didn't take too long. TFTC.
Day one of four on the ORT and our leg from Clyde to Omakau...
Nearing our destination now so was happy for a straightforward find, albeit a little further up and along that I'd anticipated.
I found the hill which gives this cache its name rather odd, but our driver who brought us back to Clyde explained it was due to an early settler who, when he first saw the hill bathed in sunlight, remarked it was 'like the hills in India where he'd previously hunted tigers'
Thanks Onslow Fisherman

Day 1 on the Otago Rail Trail from Clyde to Omakau. It was a bit of a Scramble up and over the fence to reach this one from the rail trail.
Guwapo and Papa out biking a section of the rail trail. Not sure it's a 1.5 terrain from the trail. Bit of a scramble up the bank and over the fence. Once in the right place a quick find. Salamat!
From Chatto Creek end easier to get off the rail trail to find this cache. Cache quickly found, signed and replaced as found. Another great day to be walking the trail. TFTC
Found with KNCN on a fun caching afternoon. Not an easy place to park on roadside.. yep twas 'sticky'!! cache all good thankyou to whoever is maintaining cache tftc
Found, on a road trip via Middlemarch, Ranfurly, Alexandra and Milton. Thanks for the cache.
We have been through here so many times but always had traffic around us so could never stop safely, however today was our day!!! No traffic, could safely stop and cache was quickly found. So pleased to have a smiley here at last!!!
Well that wasn't where I expected it would be. Lucky I found a safe place to park. Good hide. Tftc
Day 1. In central Otago to bike the world famous Otago rail trail with family. I would highly recommend doing this ride to everyone we had a fantastic time. We didn't collect all the caches along the way but I think we will be back one day to sign the rest. Five days off stunning views tunnels, viaducts, and all the history as well. Thank you for all the caches we did find along the trail it has been a most interesting journey. That was a killer of a climb after lunch at Chatto Creek but that's the steepest bite over and done with
An absolute killer of a climb up the hill, I had the triple combo of sore legs, head wind and an incline - I almost began to accept death at some points! Reaching the top of the hill with a forced caching break was great, and we soon bounded (well, crawled) up to grab this one. I was initially thinking it was elsewhere based on something colorful and stripey I saw cycling up, but that was more a coincidence than anything else. Signed cached and then slowly got back on the bike - tftc!
On the rail trail a week ago and could not find ...well didnt look real hard ..it was blowing a gale ..
Today was better road trip to Queens town ...soon found and signed thanks for the cache

We tried to look for this on the rail trail but we had endured head winds all day torture. Today we parked and ran up to gz. So wasn't expecting it to be there!!Thanks for the placement Onslow fisherman
Walked along the road, so busy with poor visibility, do take care
Cache found with ease thanks

Been the transport support person for family cycling the rail trail I took off for a cycle ride from the Omakau camp ground while the others packed up the car.
Been meaning to do this for a while but didn’t fancy stopping on road. So doing section of rail trail from here to. Alex
Have driven past this one many times but struggled to find somewhere safe to park. On the bike today so perfect opportunity to get this one finally. Tftc
Woke up in my stone cottage Airbnb in Ocean Grove to find that it had yet again rained overnight. But the dawn was crisp and clear so another day to look forward to with dry shoes and socks. If it carries on like this, I would have packed extra shoes and my wet weather gear for nothing. But I’m not complaining, I’m utterly sick of all the rain we have had over winter in the Manawatu.
Heading from Dunedin through the Pig Root to Alexandra for the day. Very excited, I did spend a lot of time driving this route when I lived in Oamaru and it is one of my favourite parts of the country.
Another quick find here and I can get on my way. Time to start thinking about heading to my final destination of the day. TFTC

In the area for the first time as a geocacher. Made a point of getting this one as kind of a nostalgic souvenir of the windy climb up Tiger Hill when I biked the trail 10 years ago. TFTC.
Heading back home over the Pigroot so stopped here to take in the views. Nice quick find. TFTC
rustynz tells me I need to catch up with all my logging
This was when we were in the South Island, doing the Otago cycle rail trail.
Sorry for the generic logs. But thank you to all the CO for the hides and the maintenance on all your caches.

With rebel98 and muggles cycling to Ophir from Clyde. A bit of a scramble up the hill, then over the fence to get to GZ. Thankfully did not take to long to find, and a well stocked cache full of swag. Thanks for the hide and the history
Stopped here on a day's caching in the area north of Alexandra. Good accurate coordinates made for an instant find in the only likely spot. Signed log, TFTC
Three catchers plus three muggles spent four weeks in New Zealand and so we browsed along our way. Tree days bike trip Central Otago lead us tu this cache. TFTC
9th and last on Day 1 of the Rail Trail Clyde to Omakau. Hot day and over Tiger Hill, let me tell you. TFTC
A wee stop on the Rail Trail thought I'd see if a cache was nearby bingo Cheers for the smile
Look out for the mangled possum nearby. A little above GL. Nice to get a bigger cache on this trip.
A straightforward find while cycling the Otago Central Rail Trail. The cache was pretty much at the coordinates, but I found the hint to be of no help at all.
Thank you Sonya and Deane for this cache.
Thank you Sonya and Deane for this cache.
Got back on the bikes after a warming lunch and happy to be back on the trail. At least I'm not getting sunburnt. TFTC.

Well have an opp on my shoulder about 4 weeks ago and still got about 4 weeks to go before I'm back at work so I thought I would come visit some friends in Cromwell for a few days so was a great time to find a few caches. I spent 2 weeks up here getting a few caches but good things come to an end and I had to come home. So this was the first of many for the day on the way home. I couldn't see the Tiger but I am told it is there. TFTC ☺
