Out with weredunn4 in the Karoonda area continuing our effort to collect the Wandering Heroes caches plus others we come across.Slowly but surely we are inching our way along this very long power trail. All logs signed or stamped, and maintenance where possible and if required.TFTC
Tackling the Wandering Heroes series again, and surrounding caches, with Cheezel1961. All caches found and stamped. Really enjoying this series and a massive thanks too all those who created and maintain this unique trail.5mins to find this one
So i guess this is where it all began, only the wrong hemisphere. Filling a few more gaps in this great trail. TFTC the Burton's.
Day four tackling this series. So glad the hides are getting better. Thank goodness for ammo, big painted black plastic and RED containers. Think we would have given up otherwise. But could not do a few because of that dreaded bridal creeper and snakes.Staying at Murray Bridge for the next few nights to hopefully finish.
Too hard. Re bridal creeper
Too hard. Re bridal creeper
On my way down to Murray Bridge getting more of the Wandering heroes trail that have appeared since I was here last. Staying in Karoonda tonight.
Caching with the JAMS crew finding Wandering Heroes caches. We ended up finding over 300 and hiding 2 more. We replaced a lot of containers that were broken. We had a few showers of rain early which were getting us wet but they didn't last too long and it ended up being a nice day. Thanks to all the cache owners for placing the caches.
Out with the JAMS crew JJ52, Mogni, Allister W and sir_spectre, plus TallBikeStan and BratKat on this run. The logs where stamped as Mystery Randoms. The target's today where the Wander Heros trail ( as far as we could get ) plus any other caches in the towns or close to the road and the nearby Lab cache in Karoonda. We got slowed down by the rain till almost lunch. No wildlife sighted, not even a kanagroo. We found over 300 + caches, some of us had found some of them before but we are aligning all of our maps to the same finds. We replaced over 40 wandering heroes caches we found broken, most logbooks where dry and put in the new cache. Any logsbooks found close to full had a scroll added to the cache and all broken caches we removed and put in the bin. By the end of the day we had over a garage bag full of broken caches.
Day 319 ( Monday 13th ) of our trip. Caching along the way. In Karoonda today. A total of 78 for the day and 6245 the trip. TFTC
Generic log:
After doing a good section of the Wandering Heroes series yesterday I decided to come back today and complete more of it. All caches were found in good condition on an enjoyable day, despite the weather pushing 40 degrees.

My goals for today, with LiB
1) Visit Karoonda Art Silo by day
2) Grab as many Wandering Heroes as I could before dark
3) Stay as dry and warm as possible...quite a feat considering the weather forecast today
4) Visit the Karoonda Illuminart at night
5) Dinner at the Riverside Hotel in Tailem Bend
6) Making it home safely & intact...yay!!!
Mission accomplished...
LiB had found pretty much all of the Wandering Hero cache so she drove my car while I jumped in & out collecting my smileys...
The cache: Well I wandered around a bit...Lifted something and it rattled...next thing I know the cache falls out...a nice hide but unfortunately there was no lid on the container...don't know how that would have happened...the logbook was dry but very tattered so I replaced both the container and put in a new logbook.
Thanks Burton's for placing the cache and to Dave Ulmer for creating this great and very addictive game

The Wandering Heroes trail wanders on, so do we and so does ilook4geo. Some heroes we have never heard of, some we know as cache owners, some we know from their names being on logs and some we have met along the track. Some we even know well.
In this section of the series each log had both lots of initials added to note our visit and all was replaced as it had been found.
Thanks go to Burton's for placing this cache as part of the series.

More Wandering Heroes to follow today with goingplaces2. Found all except one and each log was signed before we moved on to continue the hunt. Mixed bag today as some caches were in good condition, but others were not. TFTC.

An amazing man. I LOVE this game, THANK YOU!! In 3 years I've found 10,000 caches, completed my Jasmer, found an Ape cache, visited HQ and the site of the original stash - woo hoo. Congratulations on being honoured on this trail.
Today I was out and about with gridge98 finding more Wandering Heroes and a few others on our journey. We stamped most logs "fabulous randoms".
Thanks so much for the cache Burton's! [^]

A great day out with GoodLook collecting more of the wandering heroes that we didn’t collect 2 weeks ago. Overall we found majority of the caches in good quality and had to replaced 1 with the CO permission.
Signed all log books with the fabulous randoms stamp.

Escaped for a caching afternoon with Purrfect Di.
We thought we'd have a nice drive, get away from home and clean up some further afield.
With a late start it wasn't big numbers, but quality instead
Nice to do a few more Hero caches, working on them bit by bit!
Expected to find this in a big bucket... but it was much more sneaky than that.
Thanks Burton's for placing this cache and for leading us here for another fun smiley

Today we travelled from Karoonda to Alawoona and surrounds using Geocaching as a guide and picking up a few caches on the way with Roostaman and this was one of them. An easy find at GZ.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Spending a couple of days in Karoonda grabbing a few more of the Wandering Heroes trail. Found after a bit of a search about. Cache all good.
Thanks Burtons for the cache.

Ismartis and I decided on a day caching some of the Wandering Heroes and a few extras in her quest to reach 3000 finds and to put down a new cache for another Wandering Hero. [^]
We started off from Tailem Bend and headed to Karoonda and beyond and had a great day managing 77 finds for me and 4 DNF's.
Some of the caches were badly in need of repair and some were very well put together but all in all it was a fun day with most of the caches easy to find.
Thanks for the cache Burton's.

Came out to this cache dense neck of the woods with JJ52 today to get a few numbers to get me closer to my 3000th cache and place a new Wandering Heroes cache as well .
The weather was great for caching, cool with no rain, and we had a really good run on the Wandering Heroes with me getting 75 finds for the day & 4 DNF's and JJ52 picking up a couple of extras .
Then once darkness hit we headed in and enjoyed a really good meal at the Tailem Bend Riverside Hotel . What a nice way to finish off a great day and refresh ourselves for the trip home.

Oh wow, what a trail ! The WEEO and I flew down from Canberra to cache this trail and around MB and my wonderful Auntie put us up (future cacher there too ). We made it all the way to Loxton in 2 days but were shagged by the end. The caches were mostly fab and gave us a laugh along the way.
Thanks to all you cachers in the MB area for the great work in putting this together, you guys rock!

What a great trail, the weather is fine, the birds are singing and we are "in the groove". Thanks to all the cachers who put this trail together, we are having a ball and have not missed a beat, so far. 3-Kings and I have come all the way from NSW to experience this trail and it was well worth it. Spiffy- and I were caching the long weekend. This one eluded us though but we probably just missed it.
Project “Centroid” was on. After a bit of planning Fleabag and I decided to head towards Adelaide again for the long weekend to get 500 or so caches to move our centroid far enough away from home to complete a challenge cache in Melbourne. We managed to get 501 just for good measure.
At the same time we tried to get a few areas of Victoria done on the way there and back to start working on another challenge cache back in Melbourne.
Didn't find this one today, probably just didn't look properly though.
Thanks for the cache, the hunt and the fun.

Found while out for the day with Uni on a Wandering Hero's assault 'It's not about the numbers is about the milestones'.
We had a great day finding many many great caches, I apologize about the generic logs however for efficiency this is the quickest way to do it for me when I'm time poor. I would like to aknowlege all the great work and innovation put into many of the hides along this route.
Thank you to all cache placers,
Cheers and Happy Hunting

Good old Dave Ulmer, where would we be without him? Hmmm let us think, well probably have a lot more done around the house and be absolutely all knowledged up about every television programme happening.
Phew thank goodness for Dave Ulmer, gee but we bet in the starting days of 2000 there were some geeks who couldn't bear to leave their computers, haha, these days we have IPads.
Thanks Burton's for the cache and the little bit of history about our obsession. Found the cache, signed the log and replaced safe and sound as found. TNLN

The Parrots are on holidays and on a quest to find 8000 caches before returning to duty.
Had a fantastic day folling heroes.
Only saw one cache that had eclipse tins in it.
over 100 finds and mints on my last cache of the day.
This must be some sort of record for me.
Loved driving beside the track as I didnt like some of those roadside stops with the trucks thundering past.
A great day out and in the afternoon we headed to Loxton Hotel for the night.
Fiona O'Loughlin is performing here tonight but unfortunately it is sold out.
Tomorrow back down the road to find some more.

Out for yet another weekend of hanging out and caching with Sylken. The plan for this weekend was to take another crack at the Wandering Heroes power trail (when we made our first attempt in January 2012 we foolishly thought we might tackle the whole thing in one day!! Lol! The series was only abut 160 at that time...) When the temp is 35C, that seems rather unrealistic... It was 35C the first time we attempted this series, and 35C again today... it seems that we're starting to make a habit of hot caching expeditions. But now the powertrail has upwards of 300 in it, I think anyone would be hard pressed to bag that many in one day!
We still didn't manage to complete the trail, so we'll just have to see if we can find another 35C day to get the rest...
Thanks you to all the cache owners for their recognition of fellow cachers, and their efforts in hiding and maintaining the series. An honourable mention to CPWanderer who started this whole lark off in the first place

We are currently staying in Murray Bridge for a few weeks attempting some of the many caches available in the area. Geodaughter KAROPI joined us here for a second run at the Wandering Heroes series....our first was in January 2012. The series has expanded somewhat since then so we had endless opportunities
We finished the day with 114 finds and not a single DNF. Some caches are particularly inventive and a great tribute to the teams they are honouring. It is so nice to do a big power trail and have various types of hides....I guess the benefit of having lots of different CO's
As usual with power trails we too are writing a generic log, just adding a few extra words to caches that needed extra comments. That however doesn't detract from the gratitude we feel for all the CO's that have hidden caches along this trail....thank you one and all.
What a fantastic idea.....to honour the inventor of geocaching. Well done Burton's...this one has to get a favourite point from us

[red]Find #1572[/red]
A quick find for us today, plenty of hiding spots. Stamped and returned as found.
We had planned a family geo trip a few weeks ago and I left it up to the geo wife to decide where she wanted to go. Murray Bridge was one of three places to visit. Lucky she decided on this area, so we could try for 200+ in a day [^] Sometimes the parking was very difficult being double white lines and plenty of passing cars, having a companion to drive / swap with made this series that little bit easier. It was a very hot day & plenty of hours were spent in the car with much water needed. We found some great containers & loved the idea of this series. Now to rest the wheels....
[blue]Thanks for this cache, Burton's & to everyone for the series TNLN[/blue]

Ooh! Sneaky! However eagle-eyed Any Colombia made the find and was rewarded with a history lesson from Owl.
This day I'm on a Geo - adventure in the countryside with Dr. Owl, our mission: get all the happy smiles we could and discover the Wandering heroes !
We saw a classic:
"stonehenge style"
"home invasion cache" the ones in the middle of a tree hole of some possum home
"incredible camouflage" the ones with the natural wood on the top or some dry leaves
"Home sweet home" the ones who are now habitat by spiders,
Beetles, ants and some little creatures...
Well a totall adventure but the best of all I had a wonderfull day with Dr Owl !!

After too many months(even years) of not being able to travel due to health issues, we finally hooked up the van and headed off.
This is my one and only Wandering Heroes find as I drove past all of the others.
However, I obviously picked a good one, georoyalty no less.
Found and signed. Thanks from MalanDi.

One of my challenges I set myself for my trip to the SA MEGA was to see how many caches I could find in 24 hours.
Today was the day. I parked the car the night before out at the furtherest point of the caches of the OZ MEGA 2014 and slept the night there with the alarm set for just before midnight.
My aim was to complete the OZ MEGA 2014 caches then start along the Wandering Heros series and see how far I got.
At midnight I started. With no one else on the roads I moved quickly along each of the roads looking for those little 'suspicious piles of stones'. By 6 am I had just the arrow head to go. I stopped the car and changed clothes as I was getting hot in the thermals. ... and the car would not start. 2 hours later the RAA turned up and said I had a flat battery. [?] [?] [?]
Found the remaining caches (except the couple that are now missing) and headed south for the Wandering Heros series finding the odd one along the road.[^]
The Wandering Hero series are different containers at different distances from the road so they were a little trickier to find at times and my find rate slowed down a little. Slowly the day continued and my count continued to grow, passing 200 and 300. Just after 7:30pm I passed 400 caches and I eventually stopped at 8pm exhausted just before Mindarie.
20 hours and just over 400 caches.
Apologies for the cut and paste logs.

The journey continues, together with Suscoe we are trying to track down more of the Wandering Heroes. It seems to be an unachievable goal as the number of heroes keeps growing. We enjoyed reading the cache notes and predicting a hide which would match the characteristics of the hero. Some of the cache hides are very well matched to their hero.
Thanks to Burton's for the cache.

Suscoe headed out today for a long day of caching in the company of Phetlern to both the south and north of Karoonda.
We had a great day caching, chatting and fun with Pheltern.
After a very quiet night out here in the Mallee area we were ready to take on this challenge.
All up today we were able to reach 150 finds, a very satisfying number.
Our logs were signed in our fast mode with "S and P".
We had decided to do these caches in safe mode with an outbound and an inbound order which ended up to work pretty well and mostly avoided the worry of crossing the road.
Thanks to Burton's for placing this cache.

Off with Patdj for another day with the aim of completing the Wandering Hero trail. Generic posting - sorry.
Day 2 of the Mega and we have good intentions of doing all of the wandering heroes series . We struggle to get numbers living in an isolated location so this is an opportunity to good to miss, plus its our chance to learn about the other cachers in OZ as we go. TFTC
Cached today with Team Tonka , Grub Fred and Backwards Charlie. Met many cachers along the way. The OZ Mega Flags were everywhere, what a great idea. Everyone waved to us or blew their horns, had a great time. Fun caches too!!! TFTC
I flew into Melbourne and rented a car to come to Oz Mega. This is my first geocaching trip to Australia and I am enjoying it so far. Of course I searched for and found a few caches between Melbourne and Murray Bridge.
After registering for Oz Mega I am doing some caching as part of Team Z (Grub Fred, JMCz, Team Tonka, and myself). Thursday we concentrated on the Oz Mega 2014 SA series and found almost two hundred (200) caches. Friday we concentrated on the Oz Mega 2014 Signal series and found almost one hundred (100) caches. Today we spent most of our time working on the Wandering Heroes series and found about two hundred (200) caches.
Thanks to all the volunteers for all the work in putting together the mega event and these series. If it were not for hiders, there would be no finders.

Found this one on our day out from the Oz Mega as we attempted the Wandering Heroes trail. logging this one as Team Z (Grub Fred, JMCz, Backwards Charlie, and myself) this one one of the many great Caches we found along the way Thanks for the great effort put into creating and maintaining these caches over this very busy period.
Sorry for the Generic Log but with 200+ caches to log today the mind is very Numb.
Happy Caching.

From Auckland via Sydney I arrived at Adelaide around 10pm on the 17th to be picked up by funkymunkyzone, slieschke and Cats&Dragons (thx!). The plan was a 24h geocaching run which included picking up as many caches possible involving the three trails of Oz Mega, Wandering Heroes and Tour de France. We made it just in time back to Murray Bridge to meet up with vistra and yorkshirekiwi83 at GZ of our first cache. With the whole Team "NZ Fun" assembled the run started exactly at midnight.
In total we managed 727 finds and 11 DNFs in 24 hours. Wow what a great team effort!!
After the "Oz Mega 2014 SA & Signal" Series we started to concentrate on the "Wandering Heroes series". Great trail with sooooooo many awesome and creative geocaches. Thanks to all the cache owners! TFTC

I am over from New Zealand for Oz Mega 2014 and today joined forces with fellow kiwis Yorkshirekiwi83, Cats&Dragons, Funkymunkyzone, Slieschke and Alpenmilch80 for a 24 hour non stop caching run! The log books were signed under the team name of "NZ Fun"
We started near Murray Bridge and worked our way around the Oz Mega 2014 Signal trail, then on to the OZ Mega 2014 SA trail. Once those trails were finished, we headed over to Tailem Bend and worked through the Wandering Heroes series up to Loxton. From here we made our way across to the Tour De France power trail. Whilst the power trails were our main focus, we also picked up a few other caches along the way. At the end of the 24 hours we finished with 727 cache finds!!! It was an exhausting 24 hours and we still had to drive back to Murray Bridge afterwards! Sorry for the generic logs, but a big thank you to the cache owners for all of the cache placements!

Found as part of a 24hour cache run with 5 other kiwi's while at the OZMEGA2014 Murray Bridge (Alpenmilch80, Slieschke, funkymunkyzone, vistra & Yorkshirekiwi83, ) on Friday 18th April. All logs were signed as "NZ Fun"
We had a great time and throughly enjoyed the challenge that this presented to us all, thank you to the cache owners for being able to create such a range of caches for us to complete.
We started our run at Signal, through to OZ MEGA 2014, The Wandering Hero's, Tour de France with many other caches along the way. For all that we managed we only had 11 DNF's in the whole trip which for the numbers was pretty amazing in its own right.
So again thank you for the NZ FUN
