The cannon in which this cache was located has been removed from the site.
Ipso facto, since this cache is no longer in place or able to be replaced, it needs to be archived.

Was driving past this one today with a previous finder and was about to go grab it but the whole canon has been removed.
Nice quick find with Jade&Beck. After a bit of a lift and reach, and a good laugh, catch was in hand!
I decided to head north today to pick up an unique geocache that was passing through the area. It was a bit of a drive to get up here but I figured it would be worth it and it provided me with an opportunity to do some more caches in another area.
I saw this one in the area and made a beeline for it. I had something else in mind when I drove to this one but soon worked it out when I spotted the GZ. There were no bowlers today but there were a couple of golfers putting their bags back into their cars. I did a drive around at GZ trying to find the perfect car park before heading back to where I had initially parked.
I got out of the car and walked over where I spotted the cache peaking it's head out of the hide. I reached up and grabbed it then took a seat to sign the log. I placed the log back in the cache and then put the cache back into position, a little deeper so that it wasn't sticking out this time.
I was glad to be able to get such an easy find here. The last time I did a cache at a GZ like this it was a nano and the GZ was a fair amount bigger. The search lasted half an hour before I managed to spot it, thankfully today was much easier.
TFTC cheers

A nice stroll to this cache and easily found and quickly returned! No bowlers!
Found it today. Gave Gilmaster junior a leg up and he spotted it straight away. Lots of muggles on the nearby roads though.
Nice hide - log book needs replacing but signed piece of paper someone else left so thanks to them as well - now for a quiet drink
Thankfully a quick find as I felt uncomfortable with the many passing cars. Needed a hand to reach this one. TFTC.
I foolishly put my hand in the barrel and almost sliced my fingers open with the broken glass. The Geomum was quick to turn up the hide though. TFTC!!
I was waiting for my daughters at mcdonalds,so I decided to have a look if there was any caches nearby and I was happy to read there was one across the road.I found the cache easily enough but I had left my pen in my car and the paper inside was in not good shape so I walked back to my car and signed a small peice of paper to put in the cache and as I was walking back my daughters were driving up so good timing. Thanks for the cache Geojames2 TNLN SL
Cache was totally exposed on top of item and log is water logged. Some of the log book is useable however needs maintenance. Have put cache back into it's hiding hole however at the base of it where it's likely not to be exposed again. TFTC
Took some time searching, but found it. It's not in the actual barrel where the hint implies!!
I had a dnf here about 1 1/2 years ago, today it took about 5 minutes to turn it up and it wasn't as small as I was expecting..
Find Number 2328
The Booo's found this cache, Looked at the hint. Looked at the obvious spot.... Hmmmmmm. A quick walk around and look at that ... It's there not there!
Thanks GeoJames2 for placing this cache
This log was generated using a combination of GSAK and iGeoKnife iPhone app

Didn't take too much effort to find this one while passing through the area, though not where I expected based on the clue. TFTC
Found at 2:01 PM GAFF5 in the company of Marcus Vitruvius. I went for the "usual" hiding spots on a Howitzer, but came back empty handed. Warren then started looking and found it, but not where he had originally found it. Must be a bit of cache creep maybe. The hint also doesn't seem to match where the cache was located.
Thanks GeoJames2.
Thanks GeoJames2.
Taking no notice of previous logs, of course I had a look in there...
Then found the hide.

Waiting for my partner at Dr Bonkers, I took this opportunity to notch up a few more than him. Great spot. Tftf.
Found with LILmissy and Akbnae with Akbnae coming up with the goods this time. P.S. DONT PUT HANDS DOWN MAIN BARREL as GLASS is present!
After having my six year old up on my shoulders and having no luck, we alomst gave up, but then.... SL. TFTC.

Last cache for the day. I'd been here some 3 time prior but came up emptyhanded. Following C62's find, another visit was warrented. As it turned out, I'd been looking in all the wrong places. After all this, I did need that coffee in the golden arches opposite. SL TFTC

There's lots of little bits of paper in this cache and the logbook has some damage to the spiral. It could certainly do with some TLC. I wonder if the CO is listening? I note they have not been online since the 7th November, 2012.

With my cloak of invisibility on I searched for this one. I thought the hint was too obvious so searched other barrels and soon located the cache container. Unfortunately, it had been pushed a fair way in and my fingers could only just touch it. I went in search of the right sort of stick, one with a hook on it, that I could retrieve the cache with. It didn't take long to find one. Cache was soon out and log was signed. Thanks GeoJames2 for the placement.

Like all previous logs, I started in the obvious, but wrong spot. Quickly located once I started fresh. Certainly wouldn't do this one during the day. Tftc
Last time I’d attempted a find a cache on one of these structures turned out to be a nano. Luckily not this time though still need extreme stealth in such an exposed place and on a national monument. Maybe they should be offset.
Our 6867th overall find.
This one took a little while to track down but once the right angle was found it was spotted. Nice to see something bigger than a nano on one of these guns.
Thanks GeoJames2 for the cache.

The holiday is coming to an end, we are heading south so after camping at Mussellbrook and picking up a few more caches on our way home.
Sporting facilities, cafe and a pub, the only thing that was missing was parking with a camper van in tow. Once this was sorted out we head off to our nemesis cache hide.
This one had very accurate co-ords and we had a find in the fourth place we checked.
All hides on cannons should be this size.
Thanks GeoJames2 for the cache.

Nice Cache, Left home in the dark to be able to find this one without the muggles in white
disturbing me, arrived at location just on dawn, Buggar me if there wasn't ten thousand golfing muggles
in various stages of assembling their buggies and equipment. Lucky for me there were too busy to notice

Just noticed this one was hidden on 11 Dec 11, only a month out from Armistice Day. Anyway have driven past here a few times on other errands and not been able or permitted to stop, but today we were meeting friends (lozza47) who were picking up a new geo van just down the road and it was timeout for coffee. The establishment over the road from here was surprisingly good for coffee and it certainly was proactively cleaned and maintained. No it's not an advertorial, just a comment.
After nearly being skittled by one of two hoons ripping through the roundabout we concentrated in the drizzle on our target. Nope it's not in there, even took a photo to see, ah ha lozza zoomed in on it and I did the paperwork before reloading. Tftc

I hate cannon caches. maybe you should put a T.I.N.Y cache on instead. http://blog.geocaching.com/2013/03/april-1-a-new-geocache-size-is-introduced/

Be careful when you open the cache, it is a little note pad and pages blow away!

Hint had me looking in the wrong spot, but adjusted my AIM about 4 metres and boom, had cache in hand. Thanks for a nice deviation off the F3 for 15 minutes for a good break. TFTC GeoJames2
Geodaughter found this one straight away and then we had to wait for security to stop being interested in us before we retrieved the container.
Log signed and returned as found.
Great piece of artillery!

Number 2 find on 12-12-12.
Don't know much about guns but gave this one a closer inspection and soon had CIH.
SL, the date looks interesting!
TFTC and the education about guns/ canons.

No luck for us. Felt pretty exposed and 5 minutes away from the air conditioned car meant we were quick to give up oh well, maybe on another trip north
With the caravan parked at the Morisset showgrounds we have spent most of the week caching south of town but today we decided to head back to the Newcastle area to do a few recommended caches. We were not disappointed and enjoyed finding this cache.
Nice work and thanks to GeoJames2.

About time I got this one after a failed attempted last time, how I missed it I don't know. Quick find today after a bit of help from another cacher.
HAVE YOU FOUND IT YET?
was the call from across the road.
the looks on the collection of young cachers at GZ was priceless.
great to meet up with a bunch of young geocachers.
we must have all been a sight about 20 of us all scrambling over the gun looking.
What must the members of the club be thinking.
after a lengthy wait iwas able to sign the log book. we allowed the first finder to replace the container as there were so many of us there ,no one knew but him where ti came from.

We parked across the road in McDonalds as we were there for a coffee break also. There was no one at the cache area when we turned at the roundabout but by the time we parked and headed for the cache there were about 20 people around the gun.
Before we crossed the road Pesky yells out "Have you found it yet" very loudly and most of them turn around and look guilty.
We joined them (Tumbi Scouts and Venturers) and make a find on the cache which was well hidden. We doubt it would have avoided the scruitiny of about 25 people for too long.
We just wonder what passers by thought of the mass of people admiring the gun.
Thanks GeoJames2

Removed two empty stubbies from the barrel but was still unable to locate the cache.
Spent some time looking but definitely nothing in the barrell. Last person found it in July so wondering if muggles have taken it or it has dropped down the barrell. Might be a good idea to check on this one. thanks. Will try again in a couple of weeks.
