This area is now without trees and will be redeveloped. At that stage another cache will appear
We had found the cache at the cemetery several years ago, but we didn't realise at the time that we could continue on that road and drive right to this cache.
We overshot GZ and had to walk back, and the cache was soon located. That's Glenavy finally cached out! TFTC.

#21718. For some reason we've never got round to looking for this one despite passing by on SH1 numerous times (and spending a couple of night in Glenavy earlier in the year). So, I worked out we needed to drive past the cemetery to get to GZ. When we got to the corner, we got a pleasant surprise; the cache was a drive by (just as well as the was a freezing southerly blowing). Good to finally knock this one off. TFTC.
Tftc, what a awesome spot why has nobody been here for such a long while there was even a boat at the boat ramp
Great finish to a lovely day. Nearly stayed home because of bad weather tomorrow but so glad we came. Now it's dinner time at the campground. Tftc
A nice quick find thanks. Last for the day. Glad we found the dry entry to reach this place!
Found on a sunny trip to South Canterbury. The waether is supposed to go down hill tomorrow. We shall see!
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

A planned geocaching trip with specific targets in mind.
1: The final 2 caches to fill my D/T grid
2: The last 5 caches available (all in the South Island) to meet the NZ Jasmer challenge GC4R9Z6
3: Get as many caches as possible in a day (Solo)
I had no timetable and only a vague route (Christchurch - Dunedin- Invercargill). So after 20 days of sleeping in my tent/car I arrived home having traveled 4500km and visited some interesting places. Met some great people. I had found over 650 caches. That was a lot of park. Jump out out. Find cache sign and return. Then on to the next. All this done by myself. Also attended an event and had 2 FTF
Mission 1 and 2 were achieved and I had a best day of 153 caches. All this done by myself.
Day 14 Herbert Forrest to Waitaki 51 caches found today. Missions completed by now so caching my way back up the island. Cache on ground so placed off ground and under a piece of bark. Thank you for the placement

Out geocaching with WGHS for activities day, found open on the floor put back together and placed where we thing it should be
I had this cache on my list to find at the end of last year but I found myself on the wrong side of the water. Back today with the correct route sorted. TFTC # 12,038
I had a goal to get 2000 finds before the end of the year so a 2 day caching mission to Oamaru was in order. I had not long completed my goal followed by a wee walk along the beach. I headed back to Glenavy to get some lunch and headed back off for another walk - this time in the woods. I parked up by the gate and after a picnic lunch I was off. I'm glad there was no one around or they would have been laughing as I was strolling along singing "If you go down in the woods today you're sure of a big surprise..."
I did get a big surprise after scratching my head and not being able to find the cache??? I turned around and there it was hiding on the ground. I signed the log and then replaced it where I'm pretty sure it is supposed to be. Back on my merry way singing as I go

Time for a couple of caches before our meet and greet this evening. With Zara and Toby parked up - lets get these feet walking in this great reserve.
Enjoying being out among my friends the trees. From the Cemetery, The seagnoid takes the direct route through the trees, until he discovers a hidden road!! Whats new. No Teddy Bears to give the game away today and a little wet for a picnic. But they have obviously been here - a quick snag and tag. Now back to Zara. Cheers

On my way to the Oamaru Geofest with Taybeedragon. We stopped here to take a break from too many hours in the car to walk around Glenavy Reserve. After finding the cemetery cache we headed here, to this cache. It is open pine forest, so I decided to take a short cut. Not because it is shorter, just because a walk through pine forest is more interesting that walking down the road. Still I was a bit surprised to see the road (shows I had not read the cache description). Didn't see any teddy bears having a picnic though.
Caching with our NZ friends as trans tasman team TTT. Loving traversing this area and grabbing a load of caches. tftc
I had a really lovely time walking in the woods with dghoffy. Wonderful to stretch out legs!
After failing to find dry access to GZ from the Glenavy Walkway Reserve earlier in the day we found that we would be passing another possible access later. This second approach proved to be the best one. Quick find and sign. TFTC erninz.
Found on way back home after an afternoon caching in oamaru cheer. Replacement log put in.
Freedom camping the night nearby whilst on our way to Dunedin.
I'm sure there was an easier way to this cache however ended up crossing the river by climbing a tree and doing a bit of bush bashing to get across (was harder trying to get back).
Unfortunately the tree I assume the cache was on has been damaged recently with a number of large limbs missing.
Thanks anyway!

Found it but was all over the floor so hid it again in the same GPS coordinates.
It's a very nice place to go for a walk and there were so many birds singing! Thanks
Went the wrong way and nearly got my truck stuck lol then ended up in some guys farm on the way out.say on the track you came in on
Time to fill in whilst hubby is fishing. What shall I do? Hmm I know I 'll find a cache. Yup that was exactly where I would have put it. Tftc
Here I am, still locating caches in the Waimate District and having a ball.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
Tried approaching from one side but couldn't find a way of crossing the stream. Approached from the other side and found quickly. Interesting to see the Waitaki Bridge from this angle. Thanks for bringing us to this lovely area.
Easy wander round and through the trees followed by the more direct route bk via the slightly more braided stream crossing. Tnln. HOTA
A big mission awaited - Sonia and Menzo's wedding in Nydia Bay. Considering the number of cachers in the family, it is not surprising that we turned the trip there and back into a semi-caching road trip! We signed most logbooks as team polak to save space and time. We are grateful to all CO's who made our travels so much more fun.
This was the first one we found as I wanted to get out of Otago and also get something with interesting attributes. The access track was so little known to us, that we ended up doing a bit of river crossing from the rest area by SH1 to get to gz. Very refreshing to dip the feet in the cold water in the heat of the afternoon/early, and a good stretch of the legs, especially with five of us piled into the car with a good load of stuff too. Thank you!!!

well that was a bit of a mission followed path to find easy way to cross river wish wasn't happening so doubled back and took the direct obvious route. signs of a lot of heavy machine activity in the area and I believe this may now be private land. I had my hi viz on so didn't look too out of place . glad I found it after all the messing around retrieved tb
Great spot got to it by wading across a river. TFTC Dropped a TB.

Took a while to find, as we started at the E end, thought that it looked private, went to the W end, realised there was a river in the way, and finally went back for a walk from the E. Very pleasant, thanks.
Once you find the right way in this is easy - have driven past many times with the time. this time got it.
Found without too much trouble, Easy to stay dry even after the recent rain, just choose your path. I will have to remember this acess for my next fishing trip. TFTC
We did go in disguise (or, at least, in gumboots)...but there was no real surprise, thanks to an ace hint!
Nice little walk through the woods today, although I did end up taking a phonecall here. Cheers Gav [10497]
4167. Once we found the track in, it was an easy walk and find.
Thanks

We did go down to the woods today and we saw a hedgehog, a sheep skeleton, and also found a cache TFTC.
We expected Bitsprayer to be down at the woods at the crack of dawn, but apparently not. FTF at 12.12 p.m. A quick easy find once we managed to find a way into the area. TFTC
