It was a couple of weeks ago that a decision was made to head down to Bacchus Marsh for the weekend. This meant, of course, that while I was here, I would try and get out and do some caching. My plan for today was to spend it in, and around, the Bacchus area targeting a few specific caches that would fill some of my empty Jasmer spots; meet challenge criteria; and be in new LGAs; along with a few random caches in between. Aside from finding all the target caches that I was after, I was able to find a few in between that were quite unique in their creation and definitely worth the favourite points. This made for a very enjoyable day of caching in an area I would hope to return to sometime in the futured. Apologies for the generic log as I have quite a few to write following this trip.Find #9769, at 04:10 pmTFTC Smile

On secondment to Melbourne, Australia, combined with short holidays here and there. SmileDay 42/74, Sunday. The highlight of the day for me was attending a CITO event in the Hopetoun Park and contribute to the Clean Up Australia Day - and meeting the lovely local geocaching community! That is where I headed this morning. After the CITO I continued geocaching for - well - rest of the day. Smile I saw so many quality caches today that I really enjoyed my day. There is no better way to spend a Sunday. Thanks for the cache and greetings from Vaasa, Finland! SmileLogged with [GCDroid](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gcdroid).

With the price of country travel dropping recently, opportunities present themselves.

But replacement buses are still a pain, so rather than all the way to Creswick, it's off to Bacchus Marsh to meet up with n0w0rries +Wife.

I caught the train before the one I expected, so there was enough time for a walk out to the open cut... and a very neat cache indeed.

Nice one, 6Hinemoa2.

This was the first stop for our day out.
Traveling with n0w0rries, nirgalagrin and EveTheStaffy on our way to Creswick for a CITO and lunch.
A quick find here. No traffic passed by when we were stopped on the roadside.
A great container. I have never seen one quite like it before. Very appropriately themed.
Thanks for the cache 6Hinemoa2.

First stop of the day. We are picking nirgalagrin up from the train station on our way to the Lake Calembeen Planting CITO in Creswick.
After exiting the freeway we headed out here to have a look. A neat container.
Thanks for the lesson about the local coal mining industry too 6Hinemoa2.

Next stop on my run through the area. Rather quiet here today and once at GZ the very neat cache was soon spotted. Signed the log book without getting bitten by the numerous ants who have made a home in the cache and then replaced everything and headed off for a few more.

Thanks for this one 6Hinemoa2..

The Trip

I think the stars have finally aligned for a two night trip, caching and camping along the Great Dividing Range. It seems that every time i have planned a caching trip in the last six months something has come up to thwart my plans or cut my trip short. I have high hopes that this week it will be perfect.

I started at Moorabool Reservoir and will be collecting caches from there in the direction of Riddells Creek although i have a lot to find so am unlikely to make it that far. The weather is glorious and there is a cool lilt in the air which makes for a pleasant change from home, and the shady forests are vibrant.

Champagne caching!

I paired up with OzHockeyChick for todays adventure. Up early (arghh) to join the crew for breakfast in Bacchus Marsh followed by a CITO tree planting… and maybe a cache or ten!

At first we were a bit worried about where this cache was and that it might not be a good idea, and then I looked a bit closer and read it properly. Ok got it.

Thanks 6Hinemoa2 for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to find.

A lovely day spent exploring Bacchus Marsh and surrounding area.

Our last one for the day, as we’d run out of daylight. We noticed this when we first arrived but discounted as probably real. Decided to take a risk, and upon closer inspection, we were rewarded with a logbook.

Thanks for bringing us here today by placing this cache, 6Hinemoa2

Out and about today for some geocaching shenanigans with Stemicmitsar today. What's on today's agenda, to head on over to the event in Werribee Gorge and do some general caching throughout the day.
Avoiding the predicted showers (until the afternoon).
With 30 odd caches ticked off for me it was a great day out on a okay winters day.
Thanks for the cache and the little adventure

*Cache find # 12901.*

Today I headed out with buhfuhguh to attended an event but now that is done and dusted, it was time to find a few other caches.
We had started a multi cache earlier on and we were now making our way to GZ but along the way we were passing by a lot of other caches so why not stop and find those as well, so we did, this was one of them.
This was a quick find once we were on the right side of the road.

**Thanks to 6Hinemoa2 for placing this cache.**

Apparently the Marsh has had over 700mm of rain so far this year... an event that's certainly a rarity. Thanks for this cache! (May need attention)

Found at 1:14 pm.
Today Fleabag- wanted to find his 6,000th cache with me before he headed off on a work trip so a lofty goal of 74 caches was needed but we got there even though 3 caches into the day the low pressure tyre warning flashed up on the dashboard and we had a slow leaking flat tyre. We mucked around for way too long trying to work out how to change it. It was on the drivers side too ... the wheel that wasn't pulling off onto the side of the road all the time?? I haven't had a flat tyre for probably 20+ years and RACV changed that last one. So for the rest of the day the paranoia of having another flat was hanging over my head and occasionally with the non alloy spare wheel the tyre pressure sensor failure message starting coming up on the dashboard instead. We made it though without another flat on a LOT of gravel roads that Fleabag- managed to keep finding.

That's a big hole...spotted this one as we pulled up. Pretty big cache too.
Thanks 6Hinemoa2 for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

Started the day needing 74 more for my 6000. And my awesome geobuddy was the person I wanted to share this with. The cache is not that important, it's the adventure. So off we went heading north with a mission. And probably lots of maccas.

A park and grab here.

Thanks to 6Hinemoa2 for the placement and fun.

This geocache is currently disabled for the duration of the Covid-19 crisis in compliance with current restrictions on non-essential travel.
For the welfare of all I feel there is no choice in the matter as the virus is transmitted by surface contact and geocaching by nature, is a game that involves touching.

As we drove towards this cache we expected to be looking at an aspect of the mine. Instead we saw an interesting object and when explored further, an attached object was interesting. The name on the object gave it away and we quickly located the cache. The cache and contents were in good condition. This was a very well planned, designed and placed cache - it earns a favourite from us. Thanks 6Hinemoa2 for a very enjoyable cache.

We met up with beckNmonts and crank1 early this morning and spent the morning touring around Bacchus Marsh. Not long after lunch, we were joined by OzHockeyChick and a bit later again, we found Posums loitering so he joined our intrepid little group. It was a great day and we managed to get a few more smiley's as we already had quite a number of the ones we visited. We walked up to this and took a minute to register. Love caches that are hidden in plain sight. Thanks for the cache and for bringing us here.

Crank1, Papi4507, Geoturtle37 and myself set off early this morning for a day our caching. Later in the day we were joined by OzHockeyChick and Posums. Together we managed to find quite a few caches today, in an area filled with quality caches! The cache blended in nicely, somehow. I’m not really sure how you can make the object look like it belongs, but it did! Thanks so much for placing this cache 6Hinemoa2

The end of the month was almost upon us and I hadn't quite reached 100 caches. I'd originally planned to leave these two particular series' along with the original TSS and a smattering of others for 50 in a day but the desire to reach 100 for the month took precedence.
So although the weather was a tad, hmm, warm, shall we say Wink I took a drive over and made my way through the series' and a few others along the way.
This was the last cache for the day and despite the toilet paper packaging placed next to the camo the cache was still found. I made sure to liberally apply hand sanitiser immediately afterwards just in case Surprised.

Find # 7544

Found while heading down to Melbourne for the weekend.

Well a trip that would normally take a little over 2.5 hours to do, today took a happy (and a little bit zig zaggy) 8.5 hours.
And a few more than 55 stops to grab the caches on my hit list. All ranging from micros up to larges.

With the day being a scorcher out on the game board ment that water was needed all the while. And plenty of sunscreen.

Thankfully with all the bark, logs, bushes and false tops moved to access caches no snakes were out, me thinks it was too hot for them today too.

Gotta love the old "Tractor document holder" as a cache. Its designed to keep things dry in the worst of weather, making it perfect for our little, world wide game. Wink

All caches found were in good order, unless stated above.

Unfortunately you don’t get a good view of the mine unless you cross the road and walk a bit higher up the hill. The finding device indicated that the cache was in a different direction. I followed that direction and ended in an area with a few possibilities. I tried the cache first but it looked too important and my first weak attempt didn’t do much. Then I looked elsewhere and came back to where I started. A bit more perserverence and hey presto! A treasure trove of goodies! Great cache!

Found on the 14/11/2018 at 4:45:00 PM

My fifth day of a 9 day caching road trip holiday.
Well I've always heard there's 4 seasons in one day down in Melbourne. Today started with that 4th season that is least desired while caching... RAIN!
I was set to do some hiking cache trails, packed my bag with plenty of water and only realised it was raining when I got to the hotel carpark. I returned to my room to grab a rain jacket and stomped back to my car knowing that it'll be an uncomfortable day. My shoes were soaked by the 6th cache, and I was wetter in the inside of my raincoat from sweat than what the rain could have done!
Then the rain stopped after a couple of hours, but my feet stayed wet until 6pm when I took my shoes and socks off for the drive back to my hotel. Lucky that I like geocaching enough to ignore those issues!
In the end I managed to find 65 today.

Thanks for the caches.
