Find # 14217I'm in the Adelaide area for the Great Leap Forward event. Not just for the days event, but making it a week long trip of caching n catching up with mates.Flying solo......Day 8. Homeward-bound.Day started off with a tree climb and a big stretch off the ground. Then a bit of a look around Mt Barker. Then it was the trails. It's been a while since I've hit a long trail and being alone it was just me and the caches to fill the rest of the day in. Some power trails are tougher than others, ie parking locations and barriers can be annoying and chew up time. But happily I managed all hurdles. Even the odd orb spider that made some tracks mazes. Happily that what I'd pland out fell into place with only a couple of DNFs.End of day was a surprise with my biggest solo grab of over 300 in a day. But I have plenty more trails in SA to utilise if I want to better that score TFTC Freddo the Chocolate Frog

Found this cache on a short caching trip, definitely don't think I'd survive 24 hours. Good luck to those that do. TFTC Freddo.

Found out geocaching with friends as mystery randoms

14-Nov-21
Caching with the JAMS crew finding Wandering Heroes caches. We ended up finding over 300 and hiding 2 more. We replaced a lot of containers that were broken. We had a few showers of rain early which were getting us wet but they didn't last too long and it ended up being a nice day. Thanks to all the cache owners for placing the caches.

14-Nov-21

Out with the JAMS crew JJ52, Mogni, Allister W and sir_spectre, plus TallBikeStan and BratKat on this run. The logs where stamped as Mystery Randoms. The target's today where the Wander Heros trail ( as far as we could get ) plus any other caches in the towns or close to the road and the nearby Lab cache in Karoonda. We got slowed down by the rain till almost lunch. No wildlife sighted, not even a kanagroo. We found over 300 + caches, some of us had found some of them before but we are aligning all of our maps to the same finds. We replaced over 40 wandering heroes caches we found broken, most logbooks where dry and put in the new cache. Any logsbooks found close to full had a scroll added to the cache and all broken caches we removed and put in the bin. By the end of the day we had over a garage bag full of broken caches.

14-Nov-21
Another JAMS day was organised to tackle the Wandering Heroes trail (JJ52, allister w, mogni, sir_spectre plus tallbikestan and BratKat). We started the day with rain and hail as we drove through the hills towards Tailem Bend but by the time we started the series we just had a couple of light showers and then for the rest of the day it was fine although we had strong cool winds. Surprised

That didn't stop us though, and we had a fun day finding around 300 caches plus an Adventure Lab in Karoonda. Cool We had come prepared with lots of spare containers and replaced a heap of broken containers and sometimes logbooks. We managed to get to Sandalwood where we called it a day, so now have plans to come back and completed the last of the series. Big Grin

This was my first visit out here since 2016 and by the end of the day I had 197 finds plus the Adventure Lab which I was pretty happy about. Big Grin

Thanks for the cache Freddo. Smile

Thanks Freddo for this cache, and your contribution to the whole WH series. I was on a mission today to grab as many of these as I could. I took a tumble early in the day and got scratched by many mallee trees, but it didn't deter me. Being on a mission, walking this track was not an option I was going to accommodate. I drove the track, dodging the trees, sticks and ants. Managed to get through in my new car without a scratch. Yay.

Tackling another section of the Wandering Heroes series today with goingplaces2. Had a lot of fun and found all caches that were on the list. Logs signed, all replaced as found. TFTC.

19-Mar-19
The Wandering Heroes trail keeps on wandering and so do we, along with ilook4geo. Most of the caches we did today were in acceptable condition, although there were still a couple where containers need to be replaced and a few logs that also need to be renewed. As is normal, each log had our visit noted by the addition of two lots of initials, being GP2 and ilg.
Our thanks go to Freddo the Chocolate Frog for adding to this trail and to the fun of the game.

11-Jan-19
I had planned a big few days of caching in SA so I left work on a Tuesday evening and hit the road from Melbourne. This was my third full day of caching and the Wandering Heroes caches (and assorted others nearby) were on my target list. It was a blisteringly hot day (felt hotter than the 39C recorded on my car!) and the dry and dusty conditions made it hard going at times. My first task having left where I was staying overnight in Murray Bridge was to head to the Geopets series. Once I was done there I headed on to the Wandering Heroes and others along that route. Many took me longer than expected with different containers, hide styles and some further off the road. In the end I had to adjust my expectation of finds for the day before I headed north to where I was staying overnight. Thanks to Freddo the Chocolate Frog for this cache and to all COs for placing and maintaining this remarkable series. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables.

Tuesday 8 November 2018.

Yep, I have been on a 24 hour caching run before.....the adrenalin and energ drinks was flowing, and then comes the crash and need for sleep.

Yet another fabulous day out with gridge98...so fabulous that we stamped all of the logs as "Fabulous Randoms" (the ink in a few was becoming a little light).

We stopped at about 150 caches today as we were on a mission for Connor to reach his 4,000th caching milestone, and for me to get closer to my 10,000th. I'd found a few before today so my find count was a little lower, but anything over the 100 mark is a great day caching! We even began our day by attending a coffee event at 7:30am and then finished it with dinner and movies...haha, yep, the GIFF event was on tonight at the German Club.

Thanks so much for the cache Freddo! [^]

08-Nov-18
A day out with GoodLook on a mission to do as much of the wandering heroes series.
We found 150 along the way till we had to pull the pin and head home. Happy to find my 4000th at the last one. TFTC for all the CO for placing the caches. Some of the caches are in poor condition others are fantastic hides. We stamped all the caches with the fabulous randoms stamp

30-Nov-17
I was on my way to Barmera, with a bit of time on my hands as planned lol, so I was going to find some interesting caches along the way and a few of the power trail caches. The rain stopped, which was a bonus. At some point I decided to stop only for the large ones, otherwise I would never make it to my destination for the night! Not sure if I could keep going for 24 hours!!! TFTC!!

Out caching with Hevwalker today to make a dent on some more of the Wandering Heros caches.

We had a fun time but didn't hit the 100 we had initially hoped for. For me it was 63 finds for the day. I was happy with that.

What a great trail, the weather is fine, the birds are singing and we are "in the groove". Thanks to all the cachers who put this trail together, we are having a ball and have not missed a beat, so far. 3-Kings and I have come all the way from NSW to experience this trail and it was well worth it. Oh wow, what a trail ! The WEEO and I flew down from Canberra to cache this trail and around MB and my wonderful Auntie put us up (future cacher there too Wink). We made it all the way to Loxton in 2 days but were shagged by the end. The caches were mostly fab and gave us a laugh along the way.

Thanks to all you cachers in the MB area for the great work in putting this together, you guys rock!

The WEEO just drover the cache car down to this one for a quick grab. TFTC

A weekend at Murray Bridge saw us caching a few trails in the area, it was a laugh as our 14 and 15 year olds hip and shouldered each other, pushed and shoved, put the child lock on the car.....they did everything to make sure they beat the other to the cache. It made for a slow caching day but was so funny to watch.
Thankyou for the cache, and sorry for the generic log.

28-Dec-15
I found this cache today as number 41 of 161 in company of Cold Freeze on our Karoonda Road Run III. Our first run back in 2008 was well before Wandering Heroes and yielded just 14 caches along the entire road and our caching figures were in the 2,000's back then. Our second run in 2012 brought us 160 caches where we started at Loxton and continued caching all the way past Karoonda to just before the Murray Bridge - Tailem Bend Junction. From there, we headed into Tailem Bend for Dinner and continued back from there for a few extra caches before giving up about an hour before dark. Our caching numbers were in the 5,000s at that time. Today, with caching numbers now in the 8,000s, we picked up at the point we had left off last time near the Murray Bridge - Tailem Bend Junction and headed south with the aim of finishing off all of these caches then caching our way back towards Loxton. I had not counted the caches in this section before leaving home and I thought that there were probably about 80 caches there. Once we got them all done, we found that there were just over 140 left in that area so we didn't get much past Karoonda on the way back after all. A great day though nonetheless and there looks to be at least one more full caching day to come at some stage. 4 of 5 on foot here. Thanks to all cache placers in this series today from D B-A.

We had a great day finding many many great caches, I apologize about the generic logs however for efficiency this is the quickest way to do it for me when I'm time poor. I would like to aknowlege all the great work and innovation put into many of the hides along this route.

Loved driving beside the track as I didnt like some of those roadside stops with the trucks thundering past.
A great day out and in the afternoon we headed to Loxton Hotel for the night.
Fiona O'Loughlin is performing here tonight but unfortunately it is sold out.

It was time for specimenX and myself to head back to Murray Bridge to do the Signal PT and some of the Wandering Hero's. It was a 2 hour drive there and we arrived and went straight into the Signal series. We were suprised at how they were scattered and doubted a few of our answers but it seems we had them all right and we found the whole lot. We then headed off for some lunch and collected a couple of Oz Mega 2014 caches that had gone astray on our last visit.

Murray Bridge was almost a ghost town compared to the Easter weekend. We were still looking for the Kookie magnets (habbit now lol) and we were kinda missing all the geomobiles with their flags flying high. Seems Murray Bridge was back to BAU and we were once again engaging stealth mode for our activities.

Once we had eaten, we decided to try our luck and do as many Wandering Hero's as our bodies would allow. specimenX was like a bull at a gate, just kept going and going and going. We evetually called it quits at a daily total of 204 finds (our highest yet) and started the 2 hour drive home at 1am in the morning. By the time we got home, we were well and truely exhausted, showered then crashed immediately.

In the Wandering Hero's, we managed to get from the Tailum Bend turnoff all the way to Karoonda Road/Kulde Road intersection. We then headed up Karoonda Road towards Bowhill Road (heading towards Murray Bridge) to collect The Lost Wanderers.

There are still SOOOOO many Wandering Hero's we need to collect so it looks like another SA trip will be in the planning Smile

Thanks to all the CO's who have placed caches for us to collect and also bigh shout out to those who maintain these caches. Very enjoyable exhausting day. Big Grin

Off we go again! This time Rapidlywild and I decided to tackle the Wandering Heroes caches after completing the Oz Mega Signal power trail-insane! Big Grin[:O)]

Once again Rapidlywild was the driver and I was the runner [:O)] Most of the caches were nice, quick finds although several of them were a little bit elusive to us in the dark so RW joined in for the search Smile

I enjoyed the variety of the hides along the way; several were quite creative! All up for the day we totalled 204 finds and ended with a 1am finish Surprised Absolutely geobuggered after that! lol! Big GrinSmile

Thanks to all the CO’s for placing their caches in this fantastic series! Smile

21-Apr-14
What a week this has been at the Oz Mega Event in Murray Bridge SA. I have so many caches to log so it will have to be a cut and paste log because of the numbers but this does not mean that that I don't appreciate the effort that all the cache owners have put in to hide these caches because without the hiders we would not have the pleasure of finding the vast number of caches that have been placed in this area and also the owners of caches along the roads that we have to travel to arrive in M.B and return back to our homes.
I left Geelong on Wednesday 16th April 2014 and arrived home a week later with close to 500 caches found and now the mammoth task of logging all of these caches.
Thanks to all the cache owners who placed caches for everybody to find.
Early Monday 21st April I ventured out to this group with fellow cacher Happy Feet 1 (Robin and Josh) signing the logs as B & HF1 and finding all along the way until we decided to return to Murray Bridge with our aim today was to log at least 150.
This is not the order we found these but for ease of logging I will log in order.

I know of most on the list you have on the cache page Freddo, but have none to add. For me, sleep is more important than the numbers and after doing a couple of power trails that consumed a good chunk of the daylight hours, I am happy not to have pursued an around the clock session... Not for everyone... Wink

Hunting in the company of Kaisho53 this morning, we worked our way through just a few of the Wandering Heroes series on a pleasant, sunny, Saturday morning. This cache was found safe and sound and all in good order.

My thanks to all the hunters who have gone to the effort of recognising another cacher for one reason or another. It's great so see the tributes growing.

From Auckland via Sydney I arrived at Adelaide around 10pm on the 17th to be picked up by funkymunkyzone, slieschke and Cats&Dragons (thx!). The plan was a 24h geocaching run which included picking up as many caches possible involving the three trails of Oz Mega, Wandering Heroes and Tour de France. We made it just in time back to Murray Bridge to meet up with vistra and yorkshirekiwi83 at GZ of our first cache. With the whole Team "NZ Fun" assembled the run started exactly at midnight.
In total we managed 727 finds and 11 DNFs in 24 hours. Wow what a great team effort!!

After the "Oz Mega 2014 SA & Signal" Series we started to concentrate on the "Wandering Heroes series". Great trail with sooooooo many awesome and creative geocaches. Thanks to all the cache owners! TFTC

I am over from New Zealand for Oz Mega 2014 and today joined forces with fellow kiwis Yorkshirekiwi83, Cats&Dragons, Funkymunkyzone, Slieschke and Alpenmilch80 for a 24 hour non stop caching run! The log books were signed under the team name of "NZ Fun"

We started near Murray Bridge and worked our way around the Oz Mega 2014 Signal trail, then on to the OZ Mega 2014 SA trail. Once those trails were finished, we headed over to Tailem Bend and worked through the Wandering Heroes series up to Loxton. From here we made our way across to the Tour De France power trail. Whilst the power trails were our main focus, we also picked up a few other caches along the way. At the end of the 24 hours we finished with 727 cache finds!!! It was an exhausting 24 hours and we still had to drive back to Murray Bridge afterwards! Sorry for the generic logs, but a big thank you to the cache owners for all of the cache placements!

Found as part of a 24hour cache run Twisted with 5 other kiwi's while at the OZMEGA2014 Murray Bridge (Alpenmilch80, Slieschke, funkymunkyzone, vistra & Yorkshirekiwi83, ) on Friday 18th April. All logs were signed as "NZ Fun"

We had a great time and throughly enjoyed the challenge that this presented to us all, thank you to the cache owners for being able to create such a range of caches for us to complete.

We started our run at Signal, through to OZ MEGA 2014, The Wandering Hero's, Tour de France with many other caches along the way. For all that we managed we only had 11 DNF's in the whole trip which for the numbers was pretty amazing in its own right.

So again thank you for the NZ FUN Cool

18-Apr-14
Found with alpenmilch80, Cats&Dragons, funkymunkyzone, vistra and yorkshirekiwi83 on an epic 24 hour cache run of the Oz Mega trails, Wandering Heroes, Tour de France and a bunch of caches between these. Signed as NZ Fun (and also some instances of Fun NZ as the day continued on)! A total of 727 caches were found on this run! Smile

Thanks to all the COs for their placements!

CRAZY, found on a 24 HOUR CACHE RUN!!! sleep not found...

Sitting in a pub in Auckland before the SA MEGA we decided it would be a really fun idea to try and see how many caches we could find within 24hours. So it was decided, team NZ Fun was born (myself, Alpenmilch80, Cats and Dragons, slieschke, funkymonkeyzone and vistra). We met at the dedicated starting point just before midnight and we were ready to go on the stroke of 12, we completed Signal, OZ Mega trails, Wandering Heros and the Tour de France with many others in between.

Thank you to the many cache owners who put time and effort into placing and maintaining these trails, we really appreciate it, we managed 727 caches within our 24hours, which was exhillerating, exhausting and loads of fun. Apologies for the generic log.

Team "NZ Fun" - funkymunkyzone, slieschke, alpenmilch80, vistra, yorkshirekiwi83 and Cats&Dragons - found this on our rather loosely planned 24 hours of cache finding record run, from midnight to midnight on the 18th of April 2014. We started with the Signal geo-art trail, headed up through the other Oz Mega 2014 trails, the Wandering Heroes series and then across to the Tour de France trail for a total of 727 finds and 11 DNFs for the day. Apologies for the copy/paste logs, but with so many caches found in a single day it was impossible to remember specific caches, but that's not to say there weren't memorable caches along the way - there were indeed some great caches, particularly along the Wandering Heroes series. Special thanks to the cache hiders: OzFiresafe, Team Hurtle, and their helpers, for the Oz Mega 2014 trails; le equipe de cinq pour la piste "Tour de France"; and all the hiders of the Wandering Heroes caches and other caches along the way that we found along the way. We started at midnight on the Signal trail and ended at midnight after a few random caches in Eudunda before making the long drive back to Murray Bridge for some well earned sleep - for some of us, the first sleep for more than 45 hours. We stopped at every cache and it was a fun day but very tiring, and I don't think I'd do it again for a very long time (I'll stop short of saying never though, like organising another mega - ha!) TFTC!!! Big Grin

Find 366 of 727 for the day.

Out with Everlasting to find some caches. This trail seems like a tribute to mainly S.A. cachers which isn't surprising. As such, there are few names I recognise but I can still enjoy some novel containers and appreciate the smileys on my map. Thanks for your contribution to the Heroes.

Continuing our sojourn in South Australia before the Oz Mega Event gets into full swing, we teamed up with Ozibags to capture a few of the Wandering Heroes Razz This is our 3rd day in a row in which we have found over 100 caches, and we noticed our pace had slowed considerably Sad We can barely cache continuously through daylight hours, let alone trying to do it in the dark as well! We were pleased none the less to honour those made enough to attempt a 24 hour cache run and to be able to capture this smiley in their honour. Thank you for having placed the cache Freddo Smile
