As dak is no longer with us there is no one maintaining this cache, The Rebel Alliance were unable to pick this one up as it is not actually in daks name. I suggest it be archived and the area be made available for a new cache.

I was looking forward to doing this cache as it is such an old one and the bush setting was quite nice. However this cache has been muggled terribly and I found the bucket open, wet, and the trinkets scattered everywhere. Such a shame for one of our oldest caches.

Sorry for the bad news.

Found @ 1040 after a short walk to GZ where cache was found easily as it was partly uncovered. This was the first cache I looked for over 12 months ago but it wasn't until I looked for another I realised I was using the wrong map datum (AGD66) which put me approx. 150m away. Much quicker trip into the reserve this time!

After a morning of Post Christmas day grazing nothing could have been better than a walk through a reserve with our good friend Hi Pressure.
We left Hello Kitty Around the World TB, a Christmas Tree Key ring with light and about three pints of blood donated to the local mossies!
We took the soil crystals and signed the log shortly after a geo-caching visitor from Canberra - who obviously wanted to work off the Christmas bulge too.
A lovely spot. Thanks for the cache!

I had a tiny bit of time left up my sleeve before my commitments so thought I'd grab a quick cache.
Found suitable parking, Had a nice stroll, recieved a few greetings from passing joggers and cyclists (they sure are a friendly bunch around here)then found the nice, BIG cache.
I also note now that this one has been around for quite a while as well.

Just got into this Geocaching after having a gps for 6 months, and I think I have got the bug!

I found a cache yesterday, and when I got home from work tonight, I loaded a couple of caches close to home and thought... why not! Im going to find one!

Its drizzling raing, its 9pm at night, its dark, so I go out to look for it, by myself... yep... i think im hooked! haha
Great fun! Found it easy enough, even by torchlight!

Found by Bob at 1050

These are my favourite types of caches - a bit of a hike in nice bushy surroundings (and no muggles). I was getting a bit concerned as I approached gz - that bush certainly looked like it could make cache finding difficult, but the coords were good and the cache was quite easy to spot Big Grin.

Found by "38 degrees south" on 30/07/06 at 3:30 pm. Left Travel Bug Homer, took Travel Bug Camo Chameleon. It was a beautiful day to walk in the park. Thank you for the cache. Took Tiger Balm, left playing cards.

30-Jul-06
This was the very first cache that Romax took us to in our introduction to Geocaching way back in December 2004. Therefore it was fitting that we re found it again today as find number 150. Back then we were not registered so we could not log it. Today we could and did. However our run of bad luck today continued when I backed into one of those solid 150mm square posts in the car park. Not much damage to the ol' Lux (thanks to ARB), but beware in a car as they are very solid posts.

Logged at 1700 hrs.

Took Mini Playing Cards and D'oh! (Homer) TB. This was not logged in so may have been left by 38 degrees south who visited before us.

Left Cat in basket toy.

Thanks to dak's Emu Mob for keeping this cache going.

19-Jul-06
This was a very nice area of bushland. Decided we needed a large cache to drop off our traveling compaion, Camo Chameleon, and Wow, what a cache! It was an easy find, I covered it over a little better of leaving.
Took glo sticks and mastermind game, left a car, spraycan and playdough and of course Camo TB.
Thank you TerryP and Dak's Emu Mob

found this one a while back, just forgot to log it (around mid july). great reserve, i think it used to be a former pow camp (maybe, heard it from a bloke who heard it from a bloke... you get the idea). But despite the rain was a lovely walk. It was obvious where it was when thought about it. thanks for that one

took: beer playing cards
left: glow sticks (x3, meant as one item)

Thanks to DAK for replenishing this cache - it is now full of goodies and it's worth it for such an old one. Took koala, left tiger, wish I'd had something more worthwhile to put in. Thanks TerryP for the cache.

We found this cache at 5.15pm. A first to find after the cache had been repaired and replenished, so it was good to get first pick at some great treats for the kids.
A lovely walk in the park, wish we had more time, but it was getting dark.
Took: koala pin, gold rush man, travel cup.
Left: Shapes book, baby bottle teat, lion toy.
We also picked up 'Super Pickle T.B.' so we will move him on somewhere else.
Thanks for the great big cache.

06-Jul-06
I visited the cache today and replaced it completely. It was in a sad state, unfortunately: the lid was broken, and there was a cup of water in the cache. The contents were a shadow of their former self, and looked nothing like they did when I first logged this cache.

So, it now has a brand new container, and a new set of swaps, all in zip lock bags: bag of Mondo Figures,
2 × Classic DVDs (Laurel and Hardy in "The Flying Dueces" and William Powell in "My Man Godfrey"), stubby holder, travelling mug, photo album, pack of Carlsburg playing cards, Mini Master Mind game (second hand, but in good nick), 2 × dice (several sets), bicycle repair kit, calculator, folding ruler, hair scrunchy, sewing kit (a good quality one), 3 × blank CD-R, 2 × lapel koalas, pot of Tiger Balm Plus, and a new log book. I also added a Travel Bug for the next finder.

I have the old log book, in case anyone wants to view it.

Cheers,

dak

Found without too much difficulty. Its starting to look a bit sad. Its getting a bit vandalised probably by muggles and there is a track to it becoming evident. Its pretty damp inside. I reckon it should be relocated at the reserve that it is in is a great place for walking and exploring. Found in the company of Ryan, Scott, Bill, Lorna and Sandra

I have been aware for some time that "Peninsula Gateway" needs some maintenance. In fact, last Friday I was on the verge of going down there with a whole bunch of new swaps, all sealed up in zip-lock bags. I have several things to do in Frankston, and I decided that I didn't have enough time to do them all, so I stayed at home. Sad

If it looks like a muggle knows where it is, I might have to relocate it. It's such an old cache that I'd hate to see it archived. Stay tuned; I'll be down there in a short while.

27-May-06
Found the cache...a little too easily! Some geomuggle had found it and wrote a non-nice note in it. Cache is no longer very waterproof. Given the size of this cache, we were expecting there to be quite a collection...but it may have been pilfered I fear. However...great location, wonderful walk (Note: take the LONG way around...it is so much more rewarding!!!). Great park...must come back with bikes and check out all nooks and crannies.
TNLNSL. Rehid cache and made it less conspicuous.

13-May-06
Thought I would give this a go as my first cache ever as it was close to home. Stupid me, picking a cache that is hidden amongst scrub AND buried, whilst I hadn't even got the knack of which direction I was meant to be walking in to get closer to the cache. A really cloudy day and some tree cover didn't help the obvious user problems with the GPS. Note - Go back and find once I have more experience.

17-Apr-06
Found by edmil & maddie. We took a nice long stroll for this one the day was quite pleasant and while there were a few people on bukes it was quiet at the GZ. The cache was found very quickly, it was a bit damp inside so we dried and replace the damp log inside a second bag, Contents of cache have been prety well depleted, not sure if its been raided or its just a result of long term use. Thanks for bringing maddie and I to this area. A great park. TNLN

By DJ Chambo.
Number 5 attempt for day and second logged find. In town on business and travelling allone.
This was an easier find. GPS led me direct to it. A lovely strole in the bush and a short detour of the track led straight to it.
Found contents of bucket damp and the log book a little worse for ware, but managed to sign it without poking tomany holes in the pages.
Suggest it needs a little bit of maintenance again.
The rock on top was a little suttle concidering all around is sand.

Came with Andrea today to find this one, we made our way down the wrong track, she was new to Geocaching and I was surprise she had no complaint to go bushbashing almost 200 metres to the next track thru long grasses. This cache stood out but was covered well. Easy find again.

A nice big one which I should have brought swaps for. Oh well maybe next time.. Thanks for the cache Terryp and Dak. from M.B and A.Mc

Found at 10.45am GAFF1. Parked as close as possible to the cache and then went on a 250 metre walk. I was being directed to the wrong side of the path at first, but then the GPSr decided to reveal the true direction of where the cache was laying. Found quite easily, but on opening the container a sad state of affairs was presented to me. The container had let some water in and some of the contents were ruined. After drying out the bucket and removing a heap of twigs and dirt, I replaced the swaps as best I could. Took: diary (no Latham comments please) and threw it away. Left: Horse. Thanks dak.

I've got to go down to Frankston to replace one of my other caches, "Yes, but is it art? IV". I'll drop into this one and freshen it up a bit then. I'm in adelaide at the moment, so I'll attend to it next week.

Found while playing "cache roulette" and driving up the coast with the roof off my convertable.

A sunny winters day - a bright but not hot day.

Did anyone notice it used to be a military compound - well it was according to the big rock just inside the gate.

Pleasant walk in the park and the cache was mine.

in: finger puppet
out: squishy ball.

BTW, contents were a little damp (and me without my hair dryer!), this bucket might need some maintence when the weather warms up.

21-Apr-05
My wife was crook today and needed to visit her mum in Dromana, so I took a sickie to drive her there. I printed out a few caches to try for while I was down that way, this being one of them. Turns out, this was the only one I did today because of time, but I still enjoyed it as always. Parked at a carpark south of the cache which required a walk of about 300 metres but it was pleasant. Had little trouble finding the cache, even though the bush is so thick a dog couldn't bark in it.
Took a little koala and left a red horn. Found when I got back to the car that I also took a pen. (Sorry didn't mean to) There are others in the cache so it shouldn't cause any grief.
Thanks very much -Daks Emu Mob and or Terry P.

Found it finally.. I had never been here, and wasn't zoomed in enough on the GPS to see the tracks, so I made a beeline, and ended up going bush for ten minutes, only to find the cache near the track as described... ( i didn't know you meant THAT near!)

The diary (not the logbook) in the bag was damp/wet.

Lots of mozzies, so wear repellant.

Came today for a return visit..
First found in 2003 & again today, 13/02/2005 at 6pm

Suprised to see so much of the park destroyed by fire, it actually only stopped 5 meters short of the cache!!
Found from memory, no GPS involved Smile

Today was the first time in MANY visits that we actually saw a Kangaroo (the same height as mummy) AND an Echidna crossing the path. The Kangaroo was too quick to get a picture, but we got one of the Echidna!!

Took Car & Flashing green thing
Left 20pk Batteries

Thanks again!

Found by sblogh53 at 14:35 on 30/1/2005.
We were in a big hurry because I had to be home by 15:20 to bid on an item on eBay... missed bidding for it by 20 seconds! [:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!]
Because of the hurry, I did not want to do the lobger walk from the car park, so we just parked on the road opposite where the GPS said the cache was located. Scrabbled through some light bushes and over a barbwire fence. Ran a hundred metres or so along the track and then left it to do a quick search. I allowed myself 5 minutes to find or I have to leave. I found it in about 6 minutes. Smile
In my hurry, I forgot to bring my swaps from the car so TNLN.
By the way, the container was a little damp and probably needs to be dried out by the next visitor. All the items were in sealed bags so it is not a disaster. However, the log book felt a little damp as well.

Samantha and I spent the weekend on Mornington Peninsula, hitting caches, sampling vino, and enjoying perfect weather for our anniversary.

After a nice stroll, kicked the bucket easily. Thanks!

Coming home from work this one was too good to drive past. Unfortunately I got a little wet. Nice park, I'll explore more on a more pleasant day. Sad to see the destruction from the fire but most is starting to regenerate with lots of new acacias popping up. Didn't take anything as
I was ill prepared for a search except of course the GPS.
Thanks

What had started as a reasonable day out turned a bit wet when we stopped at the car park near this cache.

After getting our coats on and walking off in the steady rain we found the cache with no trouble.

Took Whoopie Cushion
Left Cha Cha Charmin TB

We should have gone home to dry out but we still had one more cache to hide.

Found at about 3:30pm. Walked in past the evidence of bushfire not all that long back. Will be good when the bushes and trees grow back to provide a bit more shade on the walk. An easy find at GZ.

took Music CD
left spiky ball & "smelly" pen
