Simple find though I was caught in the act while replacing the container, might have some new players though! Tftc
Another great view and a piece of the puzzle. Heaps of muggles out today so some doubling back is necessary. TFTC.
Called here this morning with plenty of time in hand to search for the cache - with eventual success. It was not where it was originally, probably having been moved by those planting the many new young native trees in the area. However the place where I found it is a good spot for a hide so I am leaving it there. The logbook was damp but still writeable and I left it to dry in the sun and breeze while I cleaned up the rest of the cache. It is now back in position, all clean and dry, with new double bags for the logbook. I have updated the coordinates and hint to reflect the new position. All good to go!
Coordinates changed from:S 41 16.798 E 174 43.417Coordinates changed to:S 41 16.795 E 174 43.412Distance from original: 29.4 feet or 9.0 meters.A small change, the cache has been moved slightly.
Have just got back to NZ from a period away. This cache is close to the top of the "to visit" list.
Called here this morning on a very windy walk along the trail from the south end to Johnston Hill. Lots of planting and removal of unwanted shrubs has taken place here, and the cache may have been a victim of this. The hint seems also not to be valid any more. Unfortunately I didn't have a replacement container with me and will have to visit again. It's possible the cache is still there and just eluded me, but I'm disabling it to be on the safe side.
Found it - lovely new planting in this area. Great tracks to explore. TFTC.
Not the best weather for a walk along the skyline trail to collect a few more caches, but at least I didn't have to worry about muggles!
Took a little bit of searching to find this cache being careful of the planting in the area.

Many a moon ago I walked this end of the Skyline with a mate but was obviously not carrying GPS at the time. Nice cool winter weekend for a slight attempt at this end near Makara. Took a while to find as there has been extensive planting work around GZ, but none of the missing bushes were the ones hiding the cache. Finally put my hands on this suitably sized cache. Great find for my 2500. TFTC
I'm not sure if I've walked this part of the Skyline Trail before, it felt new to me anyway. Took me a little while to spot where the cache was hiding but not too long! There was a small amount of water in the cache (duly tipped out) but the logsheet was able to be signed without any problem. Noted the code. TFTC
It took a long time of scrambling under bushes, avoiding blackberries (they were yummy though) until Mr 9 found it. Couldn’t believe how obvious it was afterwards
Scrambled a while then found it in a nice posse that I should have tried earlier. Nice to be up on the Skyline on a fine winters day. TFTC
The last long weekend for a while, and as the capital once again chose to provide another stunning day (in case you hadn't heard, you can't beat Wellington on a good day). I chose to spend it walking the trails from Khandallah to Karori, enjoying the views and collecting caches along the way. Just over 18km walked (21,000+ steps), Four DNF's, and Twelve finds, including one that hadn't been found since December 2017. This was one of my successful finds.
Find number ten. Another of the reasons I decided to do this walk today was to collect the last remaining few I have in this series. Initially I was worried that the cache was to be accessed from the bike side of the trails, but after closer investigation I found the correct path to the cache which was found after a short search. Cache was in perfect condition. Code number collected, signed and returned. TFTC.

I tried this one a couple of days ago with no luck however was determined not to return to Nelson empty handed. Came back today for a second attempt and persistence paid off. Phew!! Cache all good. Thanks for the fun !!
This took ages to find. I found a spot that matched the hint, but no cache. Hunted around all over the clearing as previously suggested. Eventually found it below where I thought it should be. I put it back as found, but suspect it has slipped down the slope. TFTC.
Out on a sunny but cool afternoon on the Skyline with TharntheHalken. Bit of a search through the shrubbery, found eventually, all good. Tftc!
This took a little while. Still pondering over the end of the hint. Got there in the end- one (hopefully) to go! Thanks
Nice hide. Mostly good muggle free find but I did have one nice biker stop to let me know where the track was since I was caught wandering around looking at the ground. Just minding time waiting! TFTC.
A very pleasant day for a walk on part of the trail, previously I had only been between the Makara Rd trailhead and #21.
I was a little puzzled when I arrived near GZ as the GPS was pointing a few metres off track with no apparent access but on reading the reference to the seat which I had not yet encountered I carried on a little and found said seat with a gentleman sitting on it and no way I could pass him to head for GZ without my looking out of place.
So I headed on further with the intention of doing some caches further north, however I am a bit out of condition as most of my caching lately has been urban, and as I was getting a bit weary I decided to turn back just north of the Montgomery Ave entrance and use that access on another day to do the other caches.
On my way back to the GZ for this one I met the guy who had been using the seat and he hadn't gone very far so he had been sitting there for quite a while after I left!
All quiet when I got back to the seat and headed for GZ.
Took a while to spot the cache, not helped by my botanical ignorance, even after googling the last word in the hint.
But it turned out that I was looking in the right place, assisted by spot on coordinates.
Eventually I spotted a small streak of colour that didn't fit the scenery and then quickly had the cache in my hands.
But as I was finding it and doing the formalities some people could be seen and heard and as I was about to emerge it turned out it was a couple sitting on the seat who looked like they were likely to stay there for a while. So I planned my exit to be as discreet as possible rather than sneaking up behind them and giving them a fright! They probably still wondered why I appeared from the direction I did as I stepped back (trying to look nonchalant) onto the main track!
This is the type of caching I like best, a nice big cache in a good hide in a place worth visiting. FP awarded.

In general area of cache a fab view of the wind turbines in the horizon, the Aust fires creating a definite haze.
Cache well hidden, wasn't too sure of the hint so just followed my nose.
Cache/log damp, after sit out out in the sun was able to sign. Will need a wee but of TLC. Had to race a family of flat slugs into it, repatriated them to somewhere more suitable. Also a family of patridges were on the path back - each of the 5 chicks were smaller than a mouse, very sweet.

Another straight forward cache being the second on the trail today in the clouds! Thanks CO for the cache.
Out with my latest piece of Geocaching kit, my trusty e-bike.
I thought I'd see how much of the Skyline walkway I could complete.
My GPS took me to a track on the other side on my outbound leg.
On my way back I decided to try looking in behind the seat finding the hint item and a cache underneath. GPS read 8m.
Emptied out a cup of water and took a 50c euro coin to help with expenses on a forthcoming overseas trip - lol.

Went for a pleasant late afternoon walk from home, it was warm and dead calm up here and an excellent excuse to come for a maintenance check. A bit of water in the cache but the logbook was well protected and dry, with plenty of space left. Dried the container out, cleaned the gasket and replaced the cache with a bit more leaf cover. Trust your GPSr with this one, the coordinates are dead accurate and it's a decent-sized container.
Today we hiked a part of the skyline trail.
We loved it to walk up here, we met only a few other hikers and some cows, had nice and quiet views of the city, yet being so close.
Thanks to the owner for this one!

Doing a bit of back and forth along Slyline today by getting a few caches in each direction starting from Montgomery Ave. Nice big cache here. TFTC,.
Out on my bike over from Nelson doing a few local Geo Makara tracks some great views and weather today
Took a while to find but got there eventually by following intuition as there were quite a few options from the hint.
Second attempt here and a quick find in exactly the place I looked before. From reading the logs it seems that the cache had migrated some distance and has now been returned to the correct spot.
Grabbed the code, signed the log. TFTC

Found under a gorse bush well away from the spot indicated by GPSr and hint I took the liberty of putting it back in the place where it almost certainly belongs TFTC
Can see to both Hawkins Hill and Makara windmills Wonder if cache has migrated a few metres east, wasn't where I was expecting given GPS/description/hint. TFTC fozzmiester.
Had a great day geocaching with Librarynana on her virgin geocaching adventure! Weather good and I hadn't been up to this track before but I'd really wanted to so thank you for placing the cache.
My first geocaching trip with Brooklynkat. Nice walk but my legs were a bit tired afterwards
Found the cache easily just had to wait for the muggles to leave. It was very busy along this walk on such a lovely day. TFTC
Hadn't figured out what one of the hints plant was, but soon had the cache in hand. tftc
It was a nice walk in the woods today

Found cache this while out walking the dog along the skyline walkway this evening - TFTC
#749. A stunning calm sunny Wellington Day. The GSEL's and Mrs CoopsNZ set off to walk the Skyline trail from Makara Road to Crofton Downs picking up caches that either team had not yet done on this section of the Trail. This was our first new one. A quick find by Mrs GSEL. Logs signed, code recorded and away to the next. TFTC
# 298. Walking the Skyline with GSEL from Makara to Crofton Downs on a glorious Wellington Day, picking up caches as we go. Tftc!
Wife and I decided that the Skyline Walkway might be a good option to wear out the dog. He isn't much of a geo-mutt yet, but with a bit of training he might be able to help out with some of the more difficult caches. We didn't pick a very good day for it - it was extremely windy in places.
This one took a bit of hunting as my botanical knowledge isn't the best. However, once I finally spotted it, it seemed rather obvious. TFTC.

Visiting my brother mathiasmadsen who's currently studying in nz for a semester - so let's go caching TFTC
My traveling companion would like to know what you mean by wart that plant species is called houndstounge fern. Tftc
Quite a bit of a hunt as I had trouble spotting the hint object amongst the scrub. Easily spotted when looking in the right place, and a nicely sized cache. TFTC
Thanks for the find. Found it with Tu2 Tracker, speedy12, dunc_nz. A great day for the skyline trail.
Great walk. Wanted to do this for a long time. Great views and geocaches!!! Perfect!!

Tried to get up to here but was confounded by 'private track' signs near Karori park.
I was down in Wellington, visiting family for a few days and as the weather was forecast to be good for the day I decided to head out and do the Skyline Walkway - which I had been meaning to do for a while now. I left my car at the Old Coach Road end of the walkway and arranged to be dropped off at the Makara Road end. It was a lovely Spring day for a walk, with no rain and great views along the way! At the end of the walk, my GPSr said I had done about 20km, with a few caching and sightseeing detours along the way, and had found 32 caches! A quick find here, TFTC!
Quick find on a quick morning grab before work. Nice to see a larger container. Large containers deserve TB so left one that I have had in my possesion for too long. TFTC and the series.
Cache # 1,895 - another one in the series down, and another one on this part of the trail that I did in the dark. At least I got to a viewpoint to see the lights below me this morning. Nice walk, though a touch muddy. Easy find once at the GZ. Cache is in good shape. Took nothing, left a TB. TFTC!
