Had a good look around with half a dozen young ones under supervision, but no success, despite having personally found it 12 years ago. Would think that it needs a check if you are in the area!
The road was closed up to the fire tower so we decided to walk up to enjoy it he view. No luck with the cache despite extensive searching. TFTC.
Headed out for our Fathers Day activity, road is in good condition and didn't have any trouble climbing up from Blackbutt Rd.
Beautiful view from up here, this is our new favourite lookout.
Cache in good condition, thanks to the CO's for placing it here.

Crikey, there must've been strong winds come through here very recently.
We tried to get to this cache today but our way was blocked by fallen trees. Waaaay too big to move. We tried to get around the blockage by using Cooks Pinch Track then Cooks Pinch Trail but the Trail too had a fallen tree across it. Not our day.
Must've been a heck of a blow.

The weather thawted us, there was flooded causeways every way we turned trying to get here, and "if its Flooded, Forget It !" Will have to come back another day and do this.

Tftc. Wow!! What a view. Lived in area for most of our lives and didn't know this place existed. Fantastic. Thanks for bringing us here. Giving this one a favourite point. Left a key-ring and some shells, took a candy cane (don't want to attract wildlife), signed log.
Super wet and windy but nice spot! Will come back on a clear day!
Cache in good working order!

Wow, what a great spot! This cache was much needed after a disastrous attempt at Cascade Walk. The drive up here was great fun and the reward at the top was super! A fav point for sure! TFTC!

After a very steep drive, we arrived at the tower and I had a look for the cache. After walking in circles for a while waiting for the GPS to settle down, the cache was soon spotted and the deed done.
Then I went up the steps, to be confronted by the most spectacular view!! What a spot!! TNLNSL TFTC

Found with fellow geocachers and owner of cache. Nice steep track up to the top but the trip was worth it, with cache found and nice views of the surrounding area and yes I could see the ocean although it was a bit of an effort to see thru the haze.

Out caching today with Di and Bill of the Di Morgan team. We found a series of caches that these locals had not yet done and along the way we saw some beautiful scenery as we traversed the hill country west of Port Macquarie. Great drive to gz and excellent views. We searched around a while before finding the cache. This one gets a fav point.
Thanks to lonelyra.
Thanks to lonelyra.
Heading to the outer region of Port Macquarie to find caches further afield.
We were accompanied today by Liz&Bruce, good to be able to show them some of our wonderful scenery.
As we approached Icould see the tower & thought we have to go up there. Great views which we had time to admire before we went huntting for the cache.
Thanks to lonelyra & all who had a hand placing it here.

Coordinates changed to:
S 31° 34.713 E 152° 33.120
Distance from original: 48.8 feet or 14.9 meters.
Visited cache and checked co ords, and found that the 3 GPSr read similar to the coordinates originally logged. Have changed as per Browngangs suggestion. Note there is no need to go near any cliff edges to locate the cache.
Be safe and enjoy !!

1212 GAFF2 As mentioned by prior logs the coords take you the wrong side of the top. I was almost going to DNF (GAFF1), when I went to have a look at the hint. Okay.
Was in the process of signing the log when I heard a car coming up.
They were a bit amazed I got the Metro up here; but I had walked up here at least twice before.
Left: Ikea pencil, pink Foohy pen, and an extra bag for the log.
Thru: TB, coins, and shirt
TFTC
(A hint may be: when you've found the cache you can stand up and see the trig and fire tower - if tall enough)

Found at 1:20 PM GAFF5. Today was a good day for c-pprass so we took the opportunity to drive to the rolling hills to see some country scenery and then have some lunch. Odd that this cache has only been found once (although there is another name in the log book) as it is one of the most scenic of all the mountains in this district. We took note of Browngang's suggested approach, even though our mapping showed a much quicker route and we went up Playfords Rd/Blackbutt Rd. As a matter of fact we didn't see any signs of the northern approach roads entering the car park at all.
As we climbed the stairs the GPSr suggested that we head to the right over the edge, so we promptly entered Browngang's co-ords and looked at the hint (looking at the hint was a big mistake) and kept on going up the stairs, crossing the split in the rock and searching under a very likely stone "cave". However after a few minutes we decided that it was not there! Went back to the viewing platform, took a picture for the GCA trig find and then tried to identify the mountains all around us - just such a clear day - fascinating.
Eventually we headed down and with the direction of Chris, we found the cache in a spot that we wouldn't have checked due to the hint. We were amazed that Browngang had found this cache with 2 small children to look after, however where the cache is actually located it is very safe indeed - not where we were just before though. Now off to lunch at the Kendall Service club.
Thanks lonelyra
Feedback: The co-ords need to be changed as per Browngang's recommendation and the hint needs to be amended regarding the "cliff edge". Apart from that it was a truly spectacular cache location.

This spot is awsome! I have often looked over and spotted Mt Comboyne over in the distance, wondering what the views would be like. Well today was finally the day to conquer it. We set out from Upsalls Creek Road end and then past Swans Crossing to the east. Thats the long way for sure. We finally made it through all the twisting forest roads, looking off in all directions at the view and scenery. On approach (about 700m away and still straight up)the sign says that unorthorised vehicles are prohibited, so we trecked around to the west where a track was marked on my GPS. Don't go that way either.
Back to the sign with the car parked and off we walked. Geomissy on dads shoulders again by the time we're at the top Puffing and panting, we had some munchies and a drink before the hunt.
We ventered tentatively around to the north (right of the steps) as the gps pointed, but to no avail. We were greeted with an unreal cave that the kids loved and sensational views but no cache. This is not recommended unless you can keep them on a leash though.
By this time a family who used to live in the first house you can see to the south west turned up for smoko. They told us the story of the father who died here. He was placing some rock climbing bolts, fell, and his two youg kids had to trek out to find help. Hmmmmmm. Too close to home that one. We told them about caching and the son had heard about it so off we searched again, this time widening our hunt, but with the hint aswell. Geoson soon had it in hand but it was very nerve wracking for geodad.
The family told us that Playfords Rd Comboyne was the quickest route and that it was by far.
Thanks for finally get us up here, we really enjoyed the day out. Cheers from the Browngang. Try these co-ordinates next time you're up there.
