Logs
A morning bike ride around Queen Elizabeth Park to find some caches. Thanks horsediva for the cache.
Failed to find yesterday. Came back today and looked on the correct side of the fence and success!
I've been in this area several times and wondered how to get to GZ . Today I was by myself and it seemed quite logical! All good at GZ and TFTC.
Still not sure what the correct path to take is! Definitely not the route I took, but enjoyed the cross country walk regardless. Very good navigation coordinates. TFTC
Out and about this King’s Birthday weekend Sunday with JustLookingOO and rattl. This cache was one of the ones of our list, so we parked nearby and took the short walk to GZ. We did find the geotrail mentioned in previous logs, and rattl had the required dexterity to enable her to make a quick find.
We managed to get here without the heavens opening, but it was a different story after we’d headed back to the main path. Down came the rain.
Thanks to the CO for the cache

Out caching today with TrinityNZ and JustlookingOO, this was one cache none of us had found. All the rain recently made for very wet feet as we made our way towards GZ, however as TrinityNZ mentioned in her log, the rest of the body soon matched the feet as we got caught out by a sudden heavy downpour as we headed back - worth it for another cache though .
Thanks for putting this here
Thanks for putting this here
Out and about with TrinityNZ and rattll. We ended up on the trail that took us close but on the otherside of the fence. The more nimble of us nipped over the to do the honours. Got caught in a short burst of rain along the way, all part of the fun! TFTC
With the household chores finished for the day it was time to head out for a walk with Lulu the dog.
I’d had this little trail on my list for a while. I’d never been on this walkway before. The last of the autumn weather was gorgeous and I enjoyed the walk collecting caches along the way.
A nice detour to collect this one. A quick find and cache/log in good shape.

A nice quick find once we looked on the correct side of the fence. Believe your GPS. Thanks for placing your cache.
Ms_KR and I are off for a wee break "up north" and today we cruised around the Kapiti Coast. Cyclone Gabrielle has had little effect hear that I can see. There was light rain with some strong wind gusts in the morning and this cleared up in the afternoon..
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. .

Struggled with this one and climbed the fence which felt wrong and was wrong. Should have taken the track on the left just after the bend. There is a marker post there but I couldn't see it till we came back. Got there anyway.
Removed some deliquesced lollies. Thanks horsediva

We put a bouncy ball in there from timezone Wellington. We got heaps of tickets and decided to buy a bunch of bouncy balls with them
Today started out innocently enough, I was to make my way from Wanganui back home to Wellington. Because it's a long weekend I was in less of a rush than usual as we had another day off tomorrow (Labour Day) so I decided to find a few geocaches along the way, and then a few more, and a few more, and before the day was out I had logged 60 of them (that's a pretty good day for me). This was one of the geocaches that I found:
I got lucky in that I easily found the correct path to get me to the cache location, and it appeared to have been recently mowed which made it an easy walk. It did take a bit of searching of hint objects until I found the right one. All good here.
Thanks to the CO for placing and maintaining this geocache.
I enjoy every cache I find, and it is only with CO's placing them that this wonderful game continues.

Found on 27/8 with Nannie Kerr but for some reason my log didn’t save while out there
Followed the faint trail for a quick find. Cheers for the cache hidden 10+ years ago horsediva, fun seeing some old names in the log.
Was a very cool find, took us a while but it was worth it hehehaha. We’re 13 & 16 so it was fun to get out of the house & go hunting on the track in our PJs. Thank you!!!
We found a scenic way to the cache past a pond and no fence hopping required. We did have to cast around a bit to find the right hint object but got there in the end. TFTC
When I started caching back in 2013, one of the first caches I found was one of the Curse of the FTF series. So I put the whole series on my to-do list. Over the years since then I have done most of them - but never managed to come this far up the coast.
This one didn't take too much effort - I spotted the gate just off the path while coming from the north. After going through the gate I followed the fenceline on the south side, crossed over when it got too overgrown, and went the rest of the way on the north side. I'm guessing I followed the same route as GSEL. Then it was a quick find after checking the hint.
TFTC - just one more in the series to go I think.

Well this was a hike through the scrub and as expected had to climb a fence there and back. Ended up with wet shoes for the day! Thanks for the challenge.
Out on a caching trip with TharntheHalken. A bit of a hunt through the flax bushes, but soon found. Tftc!
Went for a smallish geocaching trip through Queen Elizabeth Park after the school run. Turned out to be a horrible day for hay fever so my intended run turned into a sneezing ans spluttering stumble to tick of a few caches.
Looking at my GPS I was a little concerned about where it was taking me. In hindsight, this was some of the easier bush bashing that I would do today.

Knowing I would be out and about around Kapiti this evening, I decided to take advantage and get rid of yet another Dot Day off my Geocaching calender. This cache was one that I tried looking for about 18 months ago when I was still relatively new and green. I never made it to GZ back then, so thought I was long overdue another attempt.
The sun was close to setting when I arrived at GZ, so I was glad to have the area to myself, which allowed me to make a relatively easy way to GZ this time by hopping over a fence into a paddock and then hopping back again when about 15m away from the cache. All was fine with the container and its contents, so I was able to sign the log and then replace everything as found in my own good time.
Thanks for the cache.

#7430. Haven't done a Curse of the FTF series cache for a while. Not sure how many I still have to find. Suspect this may be close to the last one. For a while I was thinking I wouldn't be able to access it as the fence on the paddock had a hot wire and after the experience I had last year of having muscles ripped off my shoulder by a very powerful electric fence shock I was obviously reluctant to touch this fence and damage my newly reconstructed arm! But I did find a gate near the end of the paddock and so went over that and down the paddock to GZ. Had to jump the fence (no electrics) and had a quick find at GZ. Signed the logbook and replaced the cache as found. Thanks horsediva for the cache.
Wanted to get this one for a while! With Flowerydaze placing some new caches in the area I wanted to find I decided I better get this one as well.
Lovely walk in beautiful farmland. TFTC

A beautiful day to be out and about in Kapiti picking up a few caches.

I was wandering back along the track in defeat and feeling sorry for myself due to a couple of DNFs and a gap between 2 pocket queries (which I hadn't noticed before) when I spied something that was leading in the direction I wanted. I followed that and it took me right where I wanted to go and put a smile back on my face. Thanks very much horsediva. TFTC # 13,754
Up visiting family so popped out for a quick walk. Not sure what the correct approach is but a bit of fence hopping had the cache in hand pretty quick. Thanks for the hide. Another "Curse" collected.
Found it!
Second go at this. First time got very wet feet, and no prize.
Still haven’t figured out the best route, although on the way out I spotted a possibly useful gate. The cache was an easy find once in the area.
Cache nice & dry, but then so is all the park at present...
Thanks

Great find with Larty, took a bit of backtracking to find the easiest way in, but enjoyed the hunt. Tftc.
Straightforward find using the hint, and there was a geotrail too, glad we didn't attempt to find it in the dark last time we were down this way
I found one likely track to an unlocked gate, then involved one fence. Cache is all good
I read some of the logs before tackling this and gleaned a useful hint about a gate, although not the gate I first thought.
Coords are good, so an easy find, and no need to cross any fences!
TFTC
First find of the day on a "bike and grab" session in QEII park. Found pretty much right away thanks to good hint and coords.
Took "MilkShaker" TB to move it on to further pastures.

I clearly to took the wrong approach to this because I got close then ended up having to climb over a fence. The cache was found quickly once at GZ. On my return I looked for the route I should have taken and found it right by the gate! It wasn't very obvious so I'm not claiming a navigation fail on that one. TFTC.
Nice to get a find here today. Recall looking for this when works going on and I was miles away from today's find. Good to see lots of bikers out and about today making use of the new bike tracks. Cache all good. Left a TB. TFTC
Oh yaayyy! So pleased the curse has worn off. Took a rather interesting route to the cache and then an even more interesting route back to the cachemobile . All part of the fun. Some caches lay themselves open to muggles, some don't . - - - I rather suspect this one falls in the latter category . TFTC .
Unless I am mistaken this appears to be on the part of the track that is blocked off between Raumati South Wetlands (see note on that cache) and Bikers Heaven.
If I am correct this cache needs to be disabled until the construction work is completed.

Interesting wetland in Queen Elizabeth Park. Not sure about the new cycleway. Looks a little out of place in a Regional Park? TFTC
Nice quick find at GZ. The new cycle-way looks like it will be great fun!
TFTC!

Wondered about placing a cache here some years ago, but planting activity was too lively at the time. Pleased that horsediva has taken the opportunity! TFTC.
Wife didn't like the trek to this oner. Never mind we found it spot on the coords. TFTC
I had previously looked at this one maybe a year ago. I had my very young geogirl with me at the time and we did start heading off towards the GZ but it was a wet day at the time and neither of us were wearing suitable footwear so put it off for another time. No such problems today and headed straight for the appropriate hint object. Slowly knocking this series off. TFTC
Had a couple of days staying in Paraparaumu and manged to get quite a lot of caching time. Fair bucketing down for a good portion of both days - hence some very very short logs in an attempt to keep the logs as dry as possible! Thanks for the caches, neat area to cache in.
First of 8 in the Raumati area today. No problems with dogs despite our own geohound being with us, and the long grass wasn't a hassle. Pleasant little walk. Straightforward find. #751. TFTC.
This was a very 'dryland' today and it was interesting to see where the wettest parts would normally be. A bit of a tickly walk through the long grass to this nicely placed cache. Tftc
