Victoria Day 5: Phillip Island and back again.
Today’s main agenda was to visit Phillip Island for the Penguin Parade, but that left us with the better part of the day for other affairs. One of the aims was the old cache at the Cranbourne Botanic Gardens, and to have a very nice hike through Cape Woolamai on Phillip Island. All the objectives were had and we had a very good time watching the penguins retuning home, though that did mean a very late return to Melbourne. A great day out with a side of caching.
This is the specific log for this cache:
A quick detour for this one on the way out of Woolamai to the rest of the island. Cache quickly found here, so no issues. TFTC!

With friends 3 weeks on the road to explore Tasmania and South Australia. We experienced great landscapes, people and animals. By the way, many caches were also visited. Thanks for the great impressions.
My first find on Phillip Island, found after stopping for supplies at the nearby store.
Good one, thanks The Three Geo Amigos.

On the island for work today, and just had to check if there was any caches close by. Li and behold, this was close to where I stopped for lunch. Very happy to log this as a find. Cache was sitting out in the open today, so after signing log, I rehid the cache with a bit more cover. Hopefully, it survives.TFTC Three Geo Amigos.
Chiefton.

Out and about on the island today after attending the Parkrun event. My 117th parkrun today, and another 20 cache to my name. A bunch of drivebys, a maccas breaky, ice cream at the chocolatier snd back home for a rest. A pleasant mornings fun, tired now, might snooze.
While visiting the Island for a few days I had a couple of opportunities to find a cache or two.
With the others resting I took off into the night to grab a few nearby caches.
At first I thought the cache had been muggled as there was a perfect inch wide hole in the ground, I moved further a field to make a quick find else where.
Log signed and replaced as found.
Thanks for the cache

Tftc lucky we picked a quiet night ... the kids need to work on their stealth mode !
TFTC, had a few muggles watching us from a cafe close by. had to leave their field of vision and sneak back after they seemingly forgot about us...
Staying down here for the weekend and this was the closest cache to the house. Nice easy find.
Found while down here for the weekend with Wildfam. Quick find after two dogs down at smiths beach

Cathylm and I decided to do a trip to Phillip Island in our recently bought caravan. Staying in Newhaven, we decided to focus on San Remo and Newhaven to start with.
This was find #13 for the day, and it was a quick and easy find.
Thanks for the fun

Had this one in the hand before hubby had even gotten out of the car, certainly was a quick find, everything in good condition. Tftc
Great find. Thought we would grab a cache while waiting for our pizza to be cooked. (Great pizza from The pizza shop by the way). TFTC
Found just as it was starting to rain, took the bug and replaced. Very close here to everything, after hours might be the best approach.
Found it! Nice and easy thanks. Also dropped my girl’s first travel bug. May it travel far and wide!!!
Here's to the new year! New year's resolution? Grab more caches. This is a great start! Cheers!
Today we started our journey with a flight from Sydney to Melbourne. Watching the news it was perfect timing, because Sydney was hit by heavy rain, thunder and lightning the same night.
For our accommodation here on the island we had chosen the Ramada Restort. It was a good spot for starting our different adventures. Already on our way to the resort we started to stop for a couple of caches. Later we took a nice walk and continued to find caches in the area. We finished our day to attend the attraction of the island, the penguine parade.
Thanks to The Three Geo Amigos for placing and maintaining the cache.

After our arrival in Melbourne we drove directly down to Philipp Island, our first stop in Victoria. Here we looked and found some boxes before we were heading to the Penguin Parade. Thanks to the co‘s for placing and maintaining the caches. Found and logged together with GPS-Wickie, Mikaching and Swerik.
On the way arriving at the island with a quick stop to collect this cache. Was nice and easy collect. Will come back for some food. Nice little cache and well hidden although there is a lot of rubbish in the area.
Thanks The Three Geo Amigos for the cache.
Found at 3:47 pm on 4/11/18.

A nice quick one to get to my 3-4 cache a day goal for Hidden Creatures. In great shape, hidden well but not difficulty. Thanks!
On the island to visit friends opening a new cafe.. guess where? lol. Easy find. SL TNLN TFTC!
My wife is sleeping in this morning so I'm trying to complete as much of this pathway series as possible on our weekend away. I am being lazy and driving between caches because I don't have a bike and I don't have enough time to walk it! Thoroughly enjoyed the series, Thankyou so much for all the well maintained and creative caches.
Touring the Island with weather this perfect makes caching so enjoyable. A quick stop nearby allowed for an easy find. Thankfully no one on the trail at the moment. TNLNSL. TFTC. KKams
Today was time to get out the geocycle and travel along one of the many routes in the area so today we found 23 traditionals with 8 DNFs it was not a great day but it was a good day for a ride but those DNFs bring the day as a whole down but thats caching (Cache Blindness) or they just werent there only the cache owner knows which is the case. The other option is the lack of GPS accuracy using Iphone as GPS wasn't preloaded before going for the ride.
Thanks The Three Geo Amigos for placing this little hidden joy for us to find along this wonderful trail.
Grand Cache count = 839 total consisting of 754 Traditionals, 24 Multi, 14 Mystery, 4 Earth, 2 Virtual, 6 Event, 2 Werigo and 2 Letterbox.

After failure at Pathway 1 yesterday I should have tried for this when I got my coffee (when it was really quiet). Still not too busy and quickly hunted down and signed - TFTC
Had a rare free Saturday with the family overseas so I planned a day of caching on Phillip Island. The forecast 40 degree heat didn't deter me though I tried to plan caches without too much walking and of course I avoided the area closed due to fire danger. This series was high on my list but I soon realised that being in the car and not having my bike today it wasn't going to be so simple to access. Luckily with this one there was a handy parking spot and I made a quick find. My sixth find of 30 for the day. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables. Thanks for the cache and the series The Three Geo Amigos.
Our first for the series, which we hope to complete while down the Island. Nice quick find in the shade as the temperature starts to heat up. thanks,

Tftc! Down for a 3 week holiday on Phillip Island and this one was a great easy find for the kids
On a 6 day tour of Victoria with Barnzy12. Taking the red eye over from Perth we managed to visit some great places. The main reason for the travel was the Mega event in Alexandra and the opportunity to find 12 cache types in a day.
We originally travelled to Phillip bay, then up through the country side to Alexandra. Spent a few nights staying high in the snowfields and then moved over to Mt Disappointment. We then ended up back where we started returning the hire car at the airport to fly home.
Some quality caches were found all over the state, great to get a real range of cache sizes with some very large caches compared to what’s available in WA and the range of D/T options so close to each other was a bonus.
Thanks to all the Cache owners for you placements and creativity put into hiding and have awarded a few fav points based on this or the location it bought us too.

In Melbourne with Cravo10 to attend the Mega in Alexandra.
We took the red eye from Perth, leaving at 1am Thursday morning, and departed Melbourne early Tuesday morning, so it was a short five day trip.
We managed to snag a couple of nice stats for the trip. First mega event, 12 cache types in a day, 10 lab caches, 50th large cache find, and most importantly my 10,000th find at Mount Disappointment.
We spent the first day on a caching run from
Melbourne to Phillip Island where we had booked into the local caravan park for the evening. We cached all day chasing down a number of the whereigo and puzzle caches from the CF series, before ending the day caching the extremities of Phillip Island, where we had both never been, an amazing part of this country.
Next morning we cached our way to Alexandra which was the main reason for our trip to Melbourne as we had both never managed to attend a mega, which were hoping to rectify in WA next year! Attended the pre event and managed to get a couple of group FTFs by torchlight which was a real highlight.
Saturday we cached in and around Alexandra all day, chasing numbers, the highlight of the day would have to be the birdbox hides around Alexandra and the multi in Bonnie Doon from that famous TV show, a real nice touch!
Sunday was an epic caching day, chasing down 12 types in a day, which required a couple of huge drives to claim some of the rarer icons around. A huge caching stat which is a very rare feat in the Southern Hemisphere. We finished the day travelling to Mount disappointment where we found Melbourne's 1st cache and then started making a dent in the powertrail, finishing by torchlight.
Our last full days caching was spent at Mount Disappointment to chase some big numbers and with a few caches around the burbs for good measure.
Special thanks to all the wonderful COs around Melbourne for their brilliant caches, and to the mega committee for organising a ripper event, hope to be back next year!
Had lunch nearby high recommended burger bar!!

Be careful, it’s filthy. People have littered in the area and there are maggots around the case
