TFTC. Cache and contents are in excellent shape.Quick find using the hint. A beautiful day for an enjoyable walk.
Today we have moved from Scottsdale to Ledgerwood and spending the afternoon exploring the surrounds through geocaching. This cache sounded interesting and we enjoyed quite a walk along the race to find this cache. We did a 40 minute walk and found it fascinating we cant imagine what it must have been like to have been a worker back then. Hard graft. TFTC
A mixed day today. We drove up to bay of fires and the gardens and had a good look around there then after calling into the information centre we headed up to derby for a look around. This included my Paris dam and a few places around derby. Spotted a very hungry (and too busy eating to worry about us) echidna at mt Paris Dam and a soaring hawk near winnaleah. Great walk along the old channel to where there must have been an aqueduct of sorts. Thank you for brining me here. Favourite point given
A lovely walk and a successful find for BlueBM while I stayed with the sidecar enjoying the quiet bush and contemplating the broken tree branch dangling precariously above where BlueBM had parked the bike! TFTC
Loved the walk. Thanks for showing us this interesting place. Have a fav.

Out doing some mountain biking in the area. Thought we would get some caches as well. Walked up this trail with some definite history about it. A quick find at GZ. TFTC
Getting away for a mountain biking trip with friends, we had planned on a holiday to Derby during 8-13/02/2022. For the most part, we spent our days MTB-ing Blue Derby (Black Stumps) trails, as well as riding Blue Tier Forest Reserve's trails, such as the upper section of Bay of Fires, Blue Tier and Atlas. There was an opportunity to find a few geocaches in Launceston before driving to Derby, and on our final day with our flight departure in the evening, we travelled back via Scottsdale and Lilydale, and visited a few spots around Launceston such as Cataract Gorge and Trevallyn Dam.
Today, with the majority of the group departing quite early back to Adelaide, it allowed a full day of heading back and checking out Launceston with our evening departure. We checked out Legerwood's awesome timber sculptures, before proceeding around Scottsdale and checking out a Bridestowe Lavender Estate. Other highlights including Tunnel's railway tunnel, and Lilydale waterfalls. After enjoying a Launceston bakery lunch, we then visited Cataract Gorge for a few hours (whilst completing *Launceston Cataract Gorge* Adventure Lab), walking along the gorge, and then proceeded to the lookout at Trevallyn Dam. Our final drive then took us to northern Launceston in Invermay, before checking out the City Park. A terrific day checking out this quiet Tasmanian city.
This was our first geocache find for the day, and it looked like a cool location that both my muggle friend and I could enjoy, as well as the fact that it was only a short walk along the trail. It didn't take too long before arriving at GZ, but then we spent a bit of time searching between the first two bridges incorrectly. There is a third bridge, and so between bridge 2 and 3 is what is needed. However once we started to search around there, the cache was found in a logical hiding spot. The cache container and logbook were in good shape, and I did notice a discrepancy between the physical logbook and the last visitor who logged online. A cool place, and it was nice to learn about this engineering feat. Thanks The Flying Padre and Ozvix for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Nice little stroll in the afternoon to clear out another cache in the area. Slowly chipping away at more of Tasmania. Thanks
Fantastic walk with the geodogs. Really loved learning about the history of this area. Thanks for bringing us here.
Was a very nice stroll into the Tasmania wilderness then to come across a nice running stream with waterfalls.

This is a great area and we are not really sure why we haven’t visited before - despite knowing about the walk. Cache was in good condition. Thanks.
On our way to Scamander for 3 nights, so taking the targa route in order to log a few caches along the way. Cold but dry, so makes for efficient finds and signs. We did enjoy this little side trip to the water race and of course finding a cache here as well was an extra incentive and bonus. No one else here, so another bonus ! thanks to the CO's for a good hide.
We are spending another wonderful day in the North East area of Tasmania, exploring the region and collecting as many caches along the way as practical. And the bonus is the weather is a beautiful spring day too.
What an interesting place to visit and learn all about the history of the Tin Mine and the Tin Race to get it out. Fascinating area that has been taken back by nature, however need to be very mindful of what would be a very steep fall. Enjoyed the walk into the gz, lots of birds in full song but hard to spot. Once at gz cache quickly found, logged and replaced. TFTC

Brought my old mum to Ringarooma to stay with some old friends, she had a wonderful time. One must do some caching in the area while staying.
Snuck away before tea to grab some caches.
Wow what a nice spot, amazing little walk i really enjoyed it.
The hit doesn't make since as their are 3 bridges look after the 2nd bridge at a big stump.
Thanks for the cache

With GeoMaggie2. Great little walk but no luck. As the road and parking is suitable for large vehicle, I will return here one day after seeing some more Activity logs. Travelling with Maggie and Mollie, my GeoWesties, while roaming around Tasmania with our motorhome “Mylittlebus” looking for content for our TASMANIA ALL OVER facebook. Join us there. Thanks for placing this cache (and others), keeping us on our exploring toes.
Walked into locate the GCA cache further down the trail, when KjStarr and i came back to the creek crossing, i noticed a waterfall upstream, as walked around the tree to get a look at it i found a cache container laying in the open for the world to see upon opening it i realised it was this cache. After signing it we carefully made sure to cover it back up so it cant be easily found by muggles. TFTC

Tassie Trip Day 206 - It was time to go for a drive and we headed off toward the west but only until we had enough of the roads which is not as long as some would like to go but the Secretary has the call.
We made the rough road trip to the GZ and conducted our search for this wonderful cache and a nice quick find was had at the GZ with the paperwork carried out we once again admired the view and continued on our way.
Thanks The Flying Padre & Ozvix for bring us here.

On our Tour round Tassie we drove over the mountains. The cache could be found after a short search. The walk was a nice bush walk.

A great day out with gridge98 up to the northeast of tassie to collect some caches. Most were fairly easy finds in some great locations. TFTC
Another great day out caching with JL Rockstar, after yesterday collecting caches around the north west of the state. We decided to head up around the north east instead and collect some caches. Overall we found 18 caches for the day and were taken to some pretty interesting and historic areas.
What an experience this was! We went to pass the dog from one person to the other along the path but neither of us then had good and boom! The dog was gone off into the bush and wasn’t coming back! After 15-30 mins of searching and calling out. The dog start yelping as if it had got stuck or something. A further search and the dog had got stuck in a hole within the river. So lucky that it happened otherwise a dog would of been on the loose.
The cache was found after the ordeal.
I am currently writing detailed logs because of a challenge provided by Project-GC. "The Author" Badge challenges geocachers to average one hundred words or more in each log. Given that I have found so many GC caches, I have to write many logs with well over 100 words for a long period of time to get my average to the target. Apologies to anyone who finds the logs tedious but it is the only way that I can strive to attain this challenge. After over 5000 plus caches (which includes all cache finds up and including yesterday), the average log length is just over 70 words. I am now entertaining the possibility that I might be able to achieve my task before the end of next year. It's surprising how much is has increase since doing this.

So today was the day, and what a lovely little walk into to GZ
Cache was in good condition.
Thank you favourite for us, due to the location.

Heading east from Launceston today picking up a few along the way. Great spot , thanks for bringing us here. First bridge is a bit dodgy but didn’t let that stump us. TFTC
Taking a very circuitous route from Hobart to Stanley found us at another great area where we would never have gone, but for caching. Amazed that this walk is not better promoted. We loved it.
Many thanks for putting a cache here The Flying Padre & Ozvix. A fav for sure.

Beautiful walk in and as we approached GZ we were so glad to read the hint, which helped us find the cache.
So here's a cache worth racing for
Nothing to do but go for a wander to find it
I was amazed immediately how deep the race was !! [:o]
Stumbling carefully through the scenery I headed for GZ
There I found the crossing point of race and gurgling creek
I soon narrowed down the hiding place for a cache.
No problems with this cache except for the dodgy coords
TFTC.

Hi there The Flying Padre.
We found your cache **"RACE FOR TIN"** at 11:47:00 AM today. (This makes our find count 18693).
We started the day off by nominating a cache some distance away from our camp site and then took a route that was mostly determined by the next closest cache according to our GPS. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip around the area & ended up finding quite a variety of container types, and sizes hidden along our route.
###We thoroughly enjoyed our stroll along the track today. Thanks for not placing an eclipse tin or a 200ml Sistema here. Nowadays it seems like every other cache is small and devoid anything to induce children to enjoy the hunt. It made us feel really good to find this cache in a "special" place.###
We found 10 caches today & DNF'd 1. Without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our travels.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found the cache around 12m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** A Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

Found with Lekker_Ding while on a camping holiday in Tasmania. Thanks for bringing us here
We enjoyed this cache no end it was great to shown this area while out looking for a cache, think we all liked following the race and looking at the flora.
A great cache thanks for bringing us here.
This trip to the North-east all started thanks to a facebook post by DaryVafder saying she had done Tunnel for Tin and after looking at the listing said that I would add it to my to-do list, that was on the 12th off August, not long after the idea of a NE trip was discussed with Goose of GooseandEgg and before long the Egg and Mrs stainless-steel-rat were on-board too, with the idea of a weekend away sounding like it fit the bill quite nicely.
While chatting about it an old Tassie caching buddy 1TOOLMAN who has now moved back to the big island (he couldn’t hack it down here) chipped in saying would we mind if he joined us. So it went from idle chatter to flight and hotel bookings in no time at all, we had a couple of minor changes of plans due to flight times and when people could get away from work on the Friday but other than that we were all set.
Myself and Mrs SSRat had the Friday off so we drove up via the North-east coast to collect a few caches we needed and were the first to arrive at our chosen accommodation Anabels of Scottsdale at just after 6pm and we had the fridge full by 20 past
GooseandEgg were picking 1TOOLMAN up from the airport but it was delayed, so by the time they got to the hotel it was almost 11pm and we had already eaten and Mrs SSRat was asleep, so it was a quick catch up over a couple of beers and off to bed to be fresh in the morning for the start of our North-east caching fun.
All up over the long weekend we found 24 GC and 17 GCA caches making a total of 41 all up.

I might sound like a stuck record but if it wasn't for geocaching we would have never come here. We enjoyed following the race, noting it was quite deep in parts to keep the right level I guess. Some of the small ferns here were stunning as they started unfurling their new fronds. We stopped at the creek for quite some time and were amazed at how clear the water looked. I wonder if there are old 'mining poisons' still in there? 1toolman found the cache for us and all three teams signed the log sheet before continuing on to find the GCA cache further along, and to keep investigating this amazing area. Thanks for placing a cache here The Flying Padre & Ozvix
What a nice surprise near GZ wouldnever have come this way if not the cache tftc
Have been to the race before finding previous caches but always great to come back. An amazing feat of engineering for 48km length. TFTC...cheers ST.
Nice little stroll through the rain forest and we ended up at a cool little waterfall! Thanks for bringing us somewhere we probably wouldn't have found!

This one had me looking between 3 bridges, knowing it must be somewhere, gave up, went off searching for another one close by, came back and it must have just been the direction I was going in that helped as it was easily found...TFTC.
What a great walk! Interesting history. Will revisit with more time to complete the walking circuit. Thank you for the cache.
A very interesting and beautiful area to explore.
Once at GZ it was a very quick find, then it was a RACE back to our accommodation as it was getting dark.
Thanks The Flying Padre the cache.

Haha took the wrong entrance into the scrub off the road, but once we got on track was all good. Found with zas88 and ainya.schefe
Lovely little walk in here and interesting history. We have learnt so much thanks to geocaching! Followed by a coffee in the little cafe in Branxholm made for a pleasant experience. Thanks
We walked up from the camp spot by the swimming pool along Joyes St and Donald St and up the gravel road and missed the little turn off. Had to turn around and go back to it. What a lovely walk and great cache. Thanks for bringing us here.
We traveled around Tasmania for 3 weeks and took some caches. We saw so many nice places only because we searched a cache. Thanks for Geocaching to see so nice places.

Was out here mid last year and struggled with a jumpy GPS and fading light, so had to a abandon the search. Returned today whilst in the area and once in the GZ I made a quick and easy find of the cache. (GPS had me looking in the wrong spot last year) cache is safe and Ellen good condition.
Would love to see the creak with plenty of water flowing, would be a spectacular little cascade.

A short walk made exciting by meeting a snake on the track. Luckily it slithered down in to the race. Only went as far as the cache as we had been further before looking for a cache. Thanks, an interesting place to revisit.

Sainted the cache quickly at 1150hrs.
