Walking a portion of the Te Henga track today. Perfect conditions, no clouds & zero wind. And hot. Nice quick find here. TFTC
Nice, quick, and easy. Good beginners cache, found with Karnuku.

We completely misunderstood the hint, but the coords were spot on, and the box un-camouflaged, so we had a quick find. Afterwards we walked beside the stream to the sand dunes. Thanks!
As today was our 21st wedding anniversary we decided to take a trip down memory lane and come out to Bethells Beach as we used to live here when we were first married. At no 4. McKay Place if my memory serves me correctly. Anyway, as we can't help ourselves... we decided to grab a cache or two while we were here. That is how we came to be looking for this particular cache. So after parking as close as we could we made a nice quick find as we had the place all to ourselves. So the log book has been signed and the cache is nicely back in its spot all ready for the next geo-hunter. Now for a stroll along the beach on a nice sunny afternoon. So thank you alligatorsnz for taking the time to set up this cache. I really appreciate your efforts in doing so. Nice!
Failed the first time, as there were a whole hoard of muggles having lunch at the start of the walk and giving me weird looks, especially one of their cars was right where I needed to be. Revisited this after getting the Bethells beach ones, and it was an easy find. Cache is in good condition. TFTC
We took a drive out to Bethells Beach this afternoon, picking up 5 caches along the way. We spotted the likely hiding place for this cache as we parked. Reading the hint confirmed it, and one of us soon had the log signed. TFTC. Must come back to walk the trail here one day soon.
I started looking in what I thought was GZ, but got interrupted by a pair of muggles returning to their car. I waited them out in the Geovan. When I returned, my GPSr took me to a slightly different place, which was lucky because that is where the cache was hidden. TFTC.
I hitched down to the lake on my day off today. Walked around it and did a bit of Te Henga walkway.. I've already been here in summer, felt good to be back! The weather was on my side, so I could fully enjoy it:)
Some muggels were here at the first attempt.. So I stopped on the way back and had a quick find!
Thanks to the owner!

Kiwiscot on school holidays so we drove out to the west coast to get some fresh air and exercise on the beach. Lovely autumn day. The surf was a little wild and the wind was starting to blow but all in all the walk was enjoyable and refreshing. Stopped by here on the way home. The Kawakawa bush has taken a bit of a hammering after the recent wild weather. Cache quickly found. All good. TFTC
On one of our last days in NZ, we did the Te Henga Walkway today - this was one of the caches we found along the way. Cheers from Berlin, and TFTC!
The family outing was laid to Lake Wainamu - the plan was to (at least) walk around the lake, but I ended up working through the nearby earthcache, and when I arrived at the lake finally, the rest of the family was very satisfied with the bathing/sunbathing spot they had found.
Lots of people!
Very interesting nature and great trip for us. Thanks for showing us this place!

First cache of the day, and a nice quick find, with Pazzabella, Geocchi & Merlot, on a gorgeously hot early summer's day. Tftc
Geocchi miraculously found a park in the shade nearby on a baking hot afternoon, and this was our first cache at the start of a stunning walk to the beach. Nice easy find. Cache all in good order. Tftc!
#114 I had just got back to the car after finishing my most enjoyable day of caching in my short time as a cacher. Checked my phone and realised just how close this was so of course had to finish with it. Easy find although I had to fight off a lot of insects who had made it their home! All was well with the cache. Fantastic description as well, great to learn about NZ plant life with a traditional cache. To cap the day off, two RNZAF Hercules aircraft were flying formation overhead. TFTC! (photo attached is of one of two friendly horses nearby)
I certainly didn't take offence but perhaps someone had as we found the cache lying on the ground, so tucked it back where it should have been.
As merlot said, we found this lying on the ground behind the fence, so we placed back where it thought it should be. Last cache here after completing the loop walk around the Lake and heading off for Anawhata.
After a party, everyone else was hung over so I decided to grab a couple before breakfast. GPS was acting up so eventually ignored it and soon found the cache. TFTC.
Had done the lake loop and been all the way out to "Muriwai or Bethells" and finally got to this one, my lucky last for the day before I drive home to a hot bath to ease my weary calves. Nicely hidden TFTC Took the Travel Pirate TB.
In Bethells to do a part of Tehenga walk. Car park was almost empty, so made the find easily and cache is all good here.
Luckily I arrived early so the carpark was empty. It made finding this cache a lot easier than it would have been when I arrived back to a full carpark after my walk. TFTC!
This was our first geocache in New Zealand for ICEman and me. Nicely done. For a variety of reasons sadly we were not able to do the Te Henga hike and find another cache. Beautiful area,
#1146. I tried for this one back in January. Was just starting to look when a car pulled up and parked right next to the GZ! This time the area was deserted and so it took just a few moments to spot the hiding spot. The title does indeed give the best hint. I see the log had just been replaced and a trackable was present. I removed that one and dropped off a friendly dolphin. Nicely hidden cache. TFTC
Getting ready to head off on a walk with a bunch of nice and keen muggles. checked the cache and dropped TB underwater adventure geocoin. Replaced log with supa log paper...time to venture off into the Te Henga walkway.
Woohoo. So cool. It was my first one. Thank so much. It did take me a while to find it but awesome. Sorry to rave on a bit but I was so stoked. LOL
Had a good look around here - pretty sure I had the right spot from the hint but no luck.
Muggles picnicking when we arrived so got this one on the way back from walking the track to O Neills.
All these signs around, one would think they had a problem with people trespassing. Grabbed this one quicking on the way out, had to be quick as I knew there was a group of hikers behind me.
A quick find with kiwitrecker1 and the youngest before heading over to O'Neills - TFTC!!
Out with tracit for the day with a group of muggles from our tramping club our aim being to introduce them to the fun sport of geocaching. We had them searching in pairs for the 14 or so caches all around Wainamou and quite clearly they had all thoroughly enjoyed themselves as well as mostly being very successful after we had showed them what geocaching was all about. We used this cache as a demo and fortunately, helped by the wealth of info about the tree it was an easy find. TFTC
in the area after a nice stroll with a friend.. checked.. present correct and dry;-)
Found this while waiting for friends to turn up to do the Te Henga walkway. Quite a nifty little cache and everything was snug and dry inside - including the resident earwig. Uplifted the trackable and left a blockhead figurine.
Waiting for a friend to head off on a walk..nice quiet spot with a few houses around and an interested dog..dashed across the road and down the way to find the cache..thanks
It was nice to start the day of with a quick cache right next to my parked car -it always makes one feel good!
Hier sind wir ein kleines Stück den Walk gelaufen, der sehr schön ist. Hunde sind leider wieder verboten, weil im Gelände Giftköder und Fallen für andere Tiere ausgelegt sind. Der Cache ist gut zu finden.
This was a quick easy find on a nice clear day at Bethells. This was our first of the day and managed to locate this before the other member of the party was able to catch up from organising locking the car.
Alright then I won't take offence or a fence, I'll just take the cache instead. Signed, sealed and returned to pozi.
wandering by doing a bit of maintenance, all present and correct, our first every placed cache lives on happily:-)

Went off track to collect this cache, we have a plan to walk around the lake which is something we had not done before. Clever hide, thanks again for the cache.

Headed out to walk around Lake Wainamu and grab a few caches on the way. First things first tea and cake just getting organised and noticed a man hurriedly walking over the road phone in hand, scurried off to stalk this would be cacher only to find he was a tramper meeting his group, but cache located and trackable tramping boot left. Great hide. Tftc
Who was stalking who! well while I set up camp, Mr Rebel went looking for a cache. They came back all smiles, a clever hide and one that deserves a fav point. Thanks for the hide and bringing us here.
TFTC. Out with geocatching virgins who found this straight away. Now there hooked.
Had to do this one on the way back from our walk as there was a lady picking olives opposite while standing on the boot when we arrived... TFTC!!

Went for a walk around that lake across the road doing all the caches along the way, then had lunch when we got back to the car. As this was just 200m away we thought why not!! Back another time for the Te Henga track.
TFTC!!
TFTC!!
First cache of the day. Saw the start of the Goldie Track which will do next. Tftc
No offence taken. Nice to get a wee smilie here as the last cache done while out this way for today.
Found it in the middle of the carpark was lying a backpack, clothes, undies and other stuff. Looked a bit creepy, like someone was robbed and left naked, but maybe it was just a found backpack which fell into the river... TFTC anyway!
Slightly tricky because so few road features are available for triangulation. A fun find.
This is a great cache for young children. My daughter got the thrill of saying"There it is!" (with a little help from dad).
No I didn't take offence, but in my defence, I did find the cache by going on the offensive. No one in the carpark today.
Thanks for the cache!
Thanks for the cache!
This was the last of the day after doing the Lake Wainamu loop. We were all pretty tired and I was considering leaving it until I read the cache description describing the kawakawa - my friend had very proudly pointed out the kawakawa while we had been walking earlier in the day, saying it was the only native plant she could recognise. With timing like that we /had/ to collect the cache. None of us could remember exactly what it was good for, but had vague memories of it being medicinal. It was fantastic to have all that information in the cache description, thanks!
I thought about the track here and the caches up there but decided that after wandering around the lake I didn't really have the time or energy to get to them so some very good reasons to come back here again one day. I consoled myself with finding this nicely hidden carpark cache. TFTC, Biggles.
Last of the day Had been walking round lake but this was too close to ignore phasevisitor went off to guzzle water from nearby fountain Nice hide TFTC Visiting from UK
A nice straight forward find before my nephew and I started the walk across to O'Neills. t4tc
Quick run down the access track after completing the Lake Wainamu circuit. TFTC

We were out at Bethells Beach this afternoon and decided to head across to O'Neills Bay and pick up the caches located around there - a very nice walk around the bay! After collecting the other caches we headed back along the track to the start of the walkway, where we made a quick find of this cache! Thanks for the cache!

I certainly did not take offence at this one, quick find with relatives when visiting NZ from Scotland. On way to dunes now. TFTC
Ducked in here after a run around the lake. Thanks for this...will come back this summer and head north up the track I think. Nice spot.
Did this first cache along the walkway but did not venture any further as we had a dog for company. Dropped off two T-B's and missed Zork and Tufty so we will have to catch up some other time. Nicely placed cache. Thanks
I was out with Zork V today and this was the first for today. We then ventured further along the Te Henga Track for other caches.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
Planned to do the caches on the walkway but didnt realize how much DOC disliked dogs. As we had the caching budy with us we decided to go elsewhere. Thanks.
