Oh well, add me to the DNF list. Definitely time for me to start some of my own caches down. Based on the hint I think I can see where the cache was. I have a theory it not so good an idea to have cache that close to the path. Dogs would smell it out fast and sooner or later the cache is mugglesed
My first walk along the Mangemangeroa Walkway, with my Geolad in tow as we are visiting Auckland together for the first time in some 10 months.
Had a mixed bag of results today, with some good finds but also 3 DNF's of which this was the first one.
Lots of trees fitted the Hint, and we had 2 separate searches of all of them within 10m of where the co-ords brought us to, but turned up nothing.
This one hasn't been found in over a year and a half, so a very good chance it's gone or else completely misplaced.

Two of searched for a while. No luck. Too many trees to narrow it down. Nothing at the obvious site
Took a lot longer than it should have because there a lot of tall and skinny?

Took advantage of a fine sunny day before it gets to hot. Our GPS's were all over the place with both telling us different things. A muggle stopped and asked what we had lost - I told her I was looking for some leaves....................Traced our steps and reentered and soon found. Thank you.
Visiting family in the area. Left Granny helping with two week old grandson, parked at the barn and went caching on the walkway. This one took me some time, there seemed to be quite a few that fitted the hint description. But once I got on the correct side of the track it was quite quick. TFTC.
Lovely day out caching with Merlot58 and Jag50 ( Mrs ) today !
We all had a day off so we are doing this lovely walk !
Nice fairly quick find here ! Thanks KiwiLeon ....

Nice fairly quick find here ! Thanks KiwiLeon ....
Three Westies (Supernany, Jag50 and myself) came East to go for a walk and do some caching. My compass was pointing me to the other side, but Jag50 was on to it.
Walked down the BIG hill passed the alpacas and black sheep and into the bush. Quick find once GPS settled down.
Having previously visited the top of the track on Saturday Morning, and as today is my day off, I decided to return to the Mangemangeroa Walkway to pick up a few of the caches that are on the map. So after parking at the top, I made my way down onto the track under the watchful eyes of local puckeko, sheep, and alpaca. I am very familiar with the track as I run here often, (in fact I think it is one of East Auckland's best kept secrets) but it was only on Saturday that I became aware that there were caches here. Anyway, it didn't take too long to find this one once I thought about the clue and then did a methodical search at the provided coordinates. Thank you KiwiLeon for taking the time tot et this cache up... I really appreciate it especially as it has taken me to a place that I really enjoy! Awesome!
We have been meaning to do this track for a little while and as we wanted to do an afternoon walk finally managed to get here. Start of a really nice track (except for the hill from the carpark to get here) we were surprised at how many people were in the area. After waiting a few minutes lag was found and signed. TFTC.
A good spot to hide a cache, the clue had me guessing for a while but managed to find it in the end. TFTC.
Lot of good hiding places here but the clue helped narrow it down. Found after a methodical search. TFTC
We are staying with friends in Auckland towards the end of our Northland holiday. The kids are were content to puddle at home today so I headed out to do the Mangemangeroa walk. Very enjoyable. Dropped trackable here. TFTC!
Doing a 50 day streak so this is day 24 cache. Gps bounced around but increased our search area and found it. Tftc
I was in the area for another reason today and had a bit of time to kill afterwards, so decided to pick up a few nearby caches. Decided to make a start on the Mangemangeroa Valley walkway and find some of the caches along there. A quick find here, TFTC!

I had a few hours to spare this morning before I had to head to the airport and home. I decided to try and walk the Mangemangeroa walkway from here as far as the R2D2 cache and back. It took me a bit less than 3 hours car to car and I really enjoyed the variety of caches I found along the way. This one took me a bit longer to find than it should have done. Maybe because I was looking for a larger container than the one I eventually found. Now I see in the listing that there is a comment about a replacement and this must be it. TFTC, Biggles.
Found with Mrs McMike2012 ... we had picked up a couple of caches on our way over to the Mangemangeroa Walkway ... we had been down here sometime ago but had missed a few caches due to the number of 'muggles' walking the track ... we thought that it was time to have a wander down here again & see what we could find ... this was the 1st of 4 down here today ... it was all clear with very few 'muggles' around today, what with it being cool & overcast ... cache was easily located, signed & returned ... we took a TB:LN:SL ... TFTC ... that was #1,054 for us.
TFTC. Thanks for taking the trouble to re-instate this cache Leon , It gets rid of that green blot on my screen. The stream nearby is very tranquil. Found this with Pricefamily6 & trade trackables.
Beautiful spot but unfortunately no luck for us today despite quite an extensive search of all things that matched the hint
Out with Biartch79 and Drulisa, doing the Mangemangeroa path.... We had a good hunt for this one, and tried the PAF option, but no luck. Keylev couldn't find it either so maybe it's gone?
Had specifically made our way out here today for this cache as it was regular sized and I needed one more for the licence challenge I am currently working on.
Unfortunately we looked this way and that but to no avail even with the hint and previous logs. Made it back up towards the carpark where there is a picnic table and stopped for a snack and noticed I had phone signal again so sent a text to NZTravellers to ask for some help as they were the last finders. With additional hint in hand made our way back down and looked for what they had described - am sure we already searched there and did so again but came up empty handed. There did seem to be a geotrail towards it and a UPS around it (which is what had originally drawn my attention) but no cache - perhaps it has gone ?
We will watch and see if anyone else finds it or if CO checks it and advises it is there (and we just clearly missed it) or it is replaced.
Thanks for the adventure this far anyway and I will need some more regular sized caches for the next licence so will definitely be back.

Decided to go for a walk and add to our cache count this morning before we had our coffee. There were quiet a few muggles walking and jogging through this path.
Miss NZTravellers in charge of the GPS for this one and she took us to GZ and the clues sounded about right but NO LUCK!
We expanded our search and eventually Mr NZTravellers came up trumps. He thought the clue was bang ont he money! However his lid opening skills left a little to be desired and eventually (Yawnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn from Mrs and Miss NZTravellers) he had the cache open!
Log signed and cache returned to its hidy hole.

Was on the wrong side to start with but figured was not where we were looking considering the size then sharmander looked on other side and found it just like that. Tftc
Was prepared for a search but first place I looked, there you are baby! Did this after work, couldn't be bothered going home so I cached until 9pm, did this one in the dark too. Thanks KiwiLeon.
Nice hide - went to wrong side of path at first but soon realised where it could be and cache was in hand
Quick find on a walk out with my kids, so they were stoked it was a container big enough for some swaps TFTC
My GPSr had me 7-10 meters from the cache, so I searched many locations that fit the hint before I finally came up with the find. XNSL. TFTC.
Needed to get out of the house and have a little walk, this looked like a good place as any to walk.
Quick find, got to GZ and found a geotrail. Thanks for the cache

Had been wanting to find a number of nearby caches so that the map near home had plenty of smiley faces. Came out today but only managed to collect 2 caches and this was one of them. No expense spared on the car park at this end and the picnic area and bridges along the track back to the road bridge. TFTC
GPS totally off but still managed to find. Have left some little treasures to make it fun for those with kids. TFTC
DNF - with other DNF's along this trail I wasn't sure if it was accessible from the trail or not - or if going off trail is permitted.
GPS did send me around the area for couple of minutes before settling down and revealing the cache to me. TFTC
Beautiful track, had no idea it was there, full of life, plenty of Tui's and we saw some colorful birds, like a parrot type bird, really enjoy this cache, have to come back there are a few more up the track.TFTC
taking a muggle for a walk through the area.. had a quick look just after starting the walk but the GPS was all over the place so had to carry on, not wanting to piss the muggle off - since we where here for a walk after all... on the way back sufficient interest had been generated by caches found on the way back that we had a bit longer to look for this - once again the gps was a wandering but eventually in search and destroy mode i found cacher sign and out popped the container.
Thanks KiwiLeon
Finally time to hit the walkway from Hayley Lane back to Cockle Bay.

Miss P and Mrs J went for a bit of a walk and found this along the way. First time along this end of the walk way. Steep walk back to the car....Thanks
So now we've finally completed the whole walkway along this stretch of coast. T4TC - M@, Riahna, William, Jase.
7th find of the day with CODEhill. Now just 8 more needed til we hit our 500th find. TFTC
Out with the kids on a damp day. This was a quick easy find. Saw the 'geotrail' pointing the way and this one was soon in hand while the kids sheltered under the trees. TFTC
Another blank day to fill in on the calendar matrix, so I detoured out here on my way south this morning. Unfinished business and all that given I DNFed this cache almost a year ago now (it was MIA at the time). Wow, there have been some changes since my last visit. A new parking bay/lookout at the top of the lane and a new path with steps to connect the lane to the main track. Super quick find this time around. Nearly got muggled by a council worker while she measured the the track. Dropped a TB. Made sure to recover well with abundant natural camo. Cheers for replacing this cache!
After a very steep walk down, it was a quick find.
No TB's (KiwiLeon can you please log this as missing)
Was planning on doing the other 2 caches on the trail but lost cell coverage. I knew i should have taken my hand held GPS. Will have to come back another time.
Thanks for bringing me to this nice area.

Parked at Hayleys Lane and made the very steep walk down to GZ. Not sure if its easier to make the short and steep walk in from Hayleys or take the long and easy walk from Point View Drive.
Arrived at GZ and made short work of finding the cache. Coords had me on the other side of the path but miss found it in the most logical spot. Grabbed TB for moving along. TFTC!

Stopped to listen to the birdsong while the GPS settled, then with a bit of cacher foo applied the cache was soon in hand.

Onward from the bridge of sighs we found this one pretty quickly . The GPS was once again proving troublesome under the trees but the clue helped. The boys had lost interest by this stage (if it takes longer than 7.5 seconds to find they get distracted) but Dad soon had the cache in his hand. He had just replaced the log when a muggle came past on his walk - on his advice we decided to head back the way we had come - 4YO got to ride on Dad's shoulders as he was pretty well tuckered out (as was Dad by the time he got to the top of the hill!).

Up early to beat the heat. Last time we walked through here it was muggy and horrid. Parked at the top of Hayleys lane and walked DOWN to the track. But of course, when you go DOWN you then have to go UP! So we walked the loop and gave ourselves a good cardio workout and toned up the leg muscles!!! Found the cache after a couple of minutes looking. Lovely and cool in the bush. TFTC.
While looking for KiwiLeon caches to leave a TB in, I saw this cache. Even though I had already left the TB in another cache, I decided to still find this one. For Mrs Bell - from one Tramper Ted's cache toss winner to another - congratulations and TFTC.
It was a bit of that weather that you don't know what will happen, so we took our doggies to this walk. Hmmm mistake???What was it windy. They have made a wonderful parking up the road. Easy to park...but a climb when comming back haha.
Cache was easy to find, unfortunately are all 3 tb's not in the cache

ROS had a meeting in Beachlands so stopped off on the way home to have a look for this cache. It took a bit of wandering around for the GPS to get a fix on GZ but eventually the cache was spotted. No muggles around at this time of the day which does make searching a lot easier. Now for the climb back up to the geomobile! TFTC.
Great hide. Was a mission getting down the hill then back up. A Muggle may have taken the travel bug because only the info paper is there not the actual dog tag thing.
Mrs Team Welsh remembers the original cache container as she nearly knocked Jim out with it. Shame that had gone as it would have been nice to see it again. Dropped the boys of the team off at this end and picked them up on the other. TFTC
a bit of to-ing & fro-ing - think the GPS was a bit confused, but found it, TFTC )
This one had us guessing for a while. Nice hide, and well protected internally also. TFTC.
Finally found this elusive cache. After a DNF a few months ago, back yesterday for another crack since the cache had recently been replaced. Somehow under tree canopy, caches for us turn into 5 star difficulty and this was no exception. GPS signal so wayward making it hard to even find a constant GZ. After 30mins in drizzle had to abandon the search and go to work. Came away feeling rather despondent because not finding it meant another search another day.
Checked with KL as to it approximate location overnight, just so I could start to make a search in a likely area. Returned today to make the find. No TBs in container . Glad to have finally knocked this one off. Thanks KL for your help and thanks for replacing the cache.

Can't believe that this one got missing.
Maybe it got muggled because it was such and iconic container.
This is the 1st and Last time it will be replaced.
It's also move to the other side of the path

After rescuing a TB from a cache with issues I decided to take the scenic way home and deposit the Bug in this good sized cache. Not to be I'm afraid. Hint item seemed pretty obvious to me, but no sign of the cache.
Had a shocker of a day. Looked for a good 30 minutes and still no prize. The area looks like it may have been thinned out a bit by council workers or such.
Disappointing to notch up a DNF on this cache. Spent over 30mins hunting and widening the search area. Came up empty-handed. Enjoyed the walk to GZ all the same.
No luck with this one. Appears that a log near GZ has been delt with a chainsaw.
