GPS was all over the show and every tree looked alike so it was a no go for me today
Biking/caching around Naseby before heading home to Dunedin. Found with Conbat. TFTC!
GPS just wouldn't settle and we basically just wandered around looking for a needle in a haystack. Had to give up after looking at the base of so many trees. Never mind it was a nice walk.
Was tempted to ride here by the cache at the other end of the track. This was really hard to find. The GPS never really settled, so it was a case of going round and round in circles until I finally spotted something out of place. TFTC.
Replaced today on a maintenance run. Difficulty increased because of where hidden, still as per hint.
looked under and around a lot of trees old and new. but nothing to be found. needs replacing or a more specific ifc hint .
DNF - couldn’t find it under bark at the base of a tree in a forest with patchy GPS
After reading previous logs I allowed myself a bit of time to look for this one. Happily my GPS took me straight to the right tree and had signed the log in no time! Tftc
Searched ages for this sucker. The GPS was all over the place, just couldn't find it at all.
Well that took awhile - - didn’t help my GPS had me all over the place
Located in the end with the help of a previous log
Pleased to add another smile

Visiting Ranfurly for a family event. Took the little trip to Naseby to get this cache. It took me a while to check out all the bases at GZ but eventually found it. TFTC.

Day out in Naseby getting a few caches. 8 metres off but a good look around and was found
This was our first find on a damp miserable day. This took a while but we got it in the end. A few rabbits around this morning, but no cyclists to disturb us.
+ a glass pebble, - nothing.

Dnf for now. Light fading, and so are the powers of observation

Took a while to find, our First find for the day. Mrs had tried a while ago but mr found. Nice out of the way location (with cyclists going past). Tftc
Stopped at Naseby this morning for some brunch and a bit of a look around. Went for a short walk here, it didn't take long at all to find this one once the GPSr settled. Signed log, TFTC
I'm down in Otago to cycle the Otago Rail Trail over a relaxed 5 day period and took the opportunity to find a few geocaches along the way. Day 3 was from Oturehua to Ranfurly and then a side trip out to Naseby for the night. After being shuttled out to Naseby I then had the afternoon to wander around town and find a few caches. I jumped the fence once I got close to GZ and made a quick find of the cache in the forest here. TFTC!
Found on Waitangi Day. Smartphone compass took me very close to the cache the first time and when I tried again 10 minutes later it was 10m off !!! Cool beginners mtb tracks around. TFTC
Found it 6m from GPS signal but at base of tree under bark covered in Pineneedles, so it is still there
We took the easier option and searched for the track rather than bondu bash in a straight line
A nice wander in to find this one after we actually figured out where to get onto the track! Lovely area. Nobody else around today. TFTC
Headed down south with C&D and 11HPG11 for the CHCH Mega as part of the HOAC team, and decided that a Mega road trip/Mega Mission was the right thing to do. We landed in CHCH late Friday night and after picking up the rental car we bee-lined it straight to Dunedin to grab a few hours sleep before the mission truly started.
The goal for today was to locate a certain few geocaches which help for certain challenges that we are all currently working on, and to explore some pretty cool country, before getting to tomorrows starting point in Omarama. We thoroughly enjoyed this day of the mission and saw some pretty awesome places, and managed to achieve most of what we wanted. A big thanks to everyone for placing all the caches, and I apologize in advance for the copy and past logs!
After a enjoyable trip North to Naseby we decided we'd spend some time here and do a bit of exploring in the area, before heading over Dansey's Pass. We all decided after a bit of exploring around that this place was a pretty neat place, so we thoroughly enjoyed this part of the day. Thanks for bring us to this place.
An Orienteering event was on here so had to be very stealthy to get to the cache. Took a more direct but not a standard route to the cache. Turned out a marker was within 10m from the cache, but luck was on our side and the area was clear to allow for a search. Didn't take long to locate the cache, and after signing I was out of there before the next runner came past.

What a Mega Mission for a group of Hamilton Over Achievers! A great trip, a long time in the planning. I teamed up with Cats&Dragons and HKCB to grab a couple of caches while in Christchurch and surrounding areas for the 2015 Mega Event. We flew out from Auckland on Friday night and traveled to Dunedin in the dark of the night. Stopped for a few hours sleep before setting off to grab caches in the Otago area on Saturday before attempting a few more on Sunday and then arriving at the Mega on the Monday. An amazing, yet crazy road trip
HKCB made the find here. Does that mean he is the old? An orienteering event was going on nearby so there were a few muggles floating around but they were all too busy to wonder what we were up to

This was the start of a MEGA caching weekend in the company of good caching friends. In the company of both HKCB & 11HPG11 this was going to be another memorable caching road trip for many reasons.
After driving down from Christchurch last night, sleeping in the car in Dunedin , and getting a good early start this is the practice day for the planned mission for tomorrow , thats not to say we are not taking the day seriously, but there were roads to travel, views to see (so unlike what we were used to in the Waikato) and of course caches to grab.
All in all it was going to be a big day with a number of challenges, great sceanery, and of course great company. Fantastic driving along and up here as the landscape was so different from what we are used to back in the Waikato. One good thing about backroads being that we could continue our neferious activites without being disturbed by muggles.
Havingleft Sutton Salt Lake behind adn now Ranfurly we were continuing our journey. Although now the fuel situation ewas begining to rear its head and making us think that maybe we had forgotten something important
Nice quick find here without any issues .
thanks for the placement , thanks for the cache

Another great find while slowly heading to the Christchurch Mega.

Did take a wee while to find was using my phone so not the best coverage but cache still there and in good conditions tftc found while in omakau for the weekend
After reading the previous post we thought we might not find this one but we did find it easily. A pleasant stroll in the shade in a hot day. TFTC
Had two attempts with Granville86a at this one one last night in the dark so we thought we would return this morning but agsin no luck nothing matching hint and we searched in a 14m radius from GZ, hope nexttime i thearea, we might have more luck
Looked for this cache with Chosen1978 in the dark but unable to locate, so will come back in daylight for another look.
On an extended Easter break so what better time for a little caching - out with shcsjaffadoe. Watch the bikes I am just going to have a quick look in here. Through the fence - which path to follow. Cache found pretty quick, signed and returned TFTC
Enjoyed another find as part of our 24hr caching cruise through North Otago into the Maniototo and back. TFTC
Wandered over from Sandtrap, lots of pine cones. Lots and lots and lots! Thanks
Found with Kiwi Moose on a big weekend of caching. Plenty of cones and needles made the search longer than it should have. Got the smiley in the end. Thanks for the hide.
A short jog soon had it in my sweaty palm, then a gentle stroll back enjoying the shade.

Really nice little cache. There is a cool shaped tree to look at 5m to the West. TFTC
A quick find - TFTC. Thanks for all your caches in this area (including Dansey's) Ewan.
Quick little diversion and bush bash, found the track, and then the cache. Cheers Gav
Easy find. Didn't know this area existed. Will come back and walk the whole track.
Found while staying in the area last year for the SI Orienteering champs - Just been going thru my geocache files and realised I hadn't logged this one. TFTC.
An easier walk after finding Sandtrap. GPS spinning all around the place but finally pinpointed the cache.
On the back road into Naseby this cache site presented me with entry problem but once throuth the fence.... Ureka ! gotch !
We did the water race to Coalpit, then back down past the cemetery to drop off a TB and detoured here to pick up the last one at Naseby for now (until ernienz gets busy again). Thought it was cold on the water race- when we got here, the breath on our balaclavas froze! Followed around the new track a bit, but it hasn't been used much. Talking to the locals, the previous forestry guy (the German with the delightful accent) who was so strict about forest closures got offside with the locals (who depend on having people enjoying the tracks). Apparently there was an altercation in the pub, and he got clocked, and is now working in Northland. The new forestry guy is a keen mountainbiker with children, and he is encouraging new biking tracks. So it looks very promising for future caching possibilities!
A stunningly beautiful Autum day, far to good to work in the garden, so we had a trip to find some of the newer caches and try to get a few photos. A neat wee area, pity we didn't have time for a ride.
Found at 12:39 PM on 21/04/2012.
Eventually found the right way into this one...

Chilly (only 4 deg on the car thermometer) early morning dash with the kids. When directly in from the road - they enjoyed the cross country and all the fungi.
Found it at 3:54 PM, Took some finding as the Garmins GPSr s were all over the place. However Mrs O.F. put in some very diligent searching and found it.
TFTC, erninz!

A quick easy find after a short windy (curves not blowing) walk from Sandtrap. TFTC
Gps bounced all over the place, but spotted it in the end, and a FTF.-Bitsprayer
Finally zeroed in on GZ and Bitsprayer spotted the spot. Even in the pines the GPS was playing tricks with us this morning. TFTC
