Wasnt sure we could go down trail but it was fairly easy going. Nice and easy find.. Thanks
I really had forgotten how beautiful this area is. We started to hear some parrots in the distance tftc
Once the right tree was located I found this one in an instantAll good here, although I had to drain a bit of water from the cache as when found its lid was opened. Re-sealed nowTFTC
Start of this track was hard going in jandals but bit easier here. No problem finding. NINO TFTC
Went for a walk in this neck of the woods this afternoon hoping to pick up five or six caches. In the end I managed three. Two I didnt seriously attempt based on their recent history, and one other, the new one, was a major DNF. This cache was a reasonably quick find. #7094. TFTC.
Accio 12:41:29T4mmmy and I have had a blast exploring the Coromandel's, but today is our last day here before we head south and east. A lovely little walk around Opoutere. Easy find here. Thanks G-2 for entertaining me at this location. *{Overall find #11749}*
After having found a trap for players 2 thought we knew what we were looking for, but nothing in sight. Then read the description and cache soon located. Tftc
Was a quick find, but part of the path had eroded away on the cliff side, so do go with caution, and watch the little ones, don't let them run ahead.
Was invited to spend some time at the Opoutere campsite with the Winstone family, who have been coming to the campsite for the past 20 years!
Decided to take the kids out and to do some geocaching. They had never been, and really enjoyed it.

The track along this bit is pretty rough but still quite negotiable.
This one was a super quick find.
I left a pet rock - a brown fox.
Thanks for putting this here

Another just off the main trail, glad it's a baking hot day and I left my water in the car, not.
Off out for the day to Pauanui and other nearby areas as the weather forecast for tomorrow doesn't look too flash. We found a 'few' caches by a certain North Island CO, which was to be expected due to the prolific regional placements. Guess we can see where he likes to vacation in Jan each year?
I have got a busy few days coming up, and am heading north to the Coromandel peninsula for the weekend with a work holiday home booked for this upcoming long weekend, including stat day on Monday. Then I'm heading home with mrs c for a couple of days leave followed by a couple of days WFH before heading back to Manawatu and my new work area at the weekend. Not massive numbers of cache finds but a few to keep things ticking over and a surprising amount by Auckland based COs too! Thanks to all cache owners for their contributions.

Cute little container behind the tree got my baby cousin to look around tftc
Clambered up from the inlet track to find this one as there are a few fallen trees! Cache is in good condition
The trap has been taken away and the container was left opened on the ground. Retrieved the log and put at the base of the tree TFTC
No problems here and a nice quick find as we are now very familiar with this type of hide.
Almost completed the loop now. Only one to go.

Yep spotted the odd trap out. Left our calling card. Cheers.
Day 12 - Tuesday 29 December - Whangamata - Opoutere - Onemana and back to Whangamata today. Some local beaches to explore so lets go!
The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are off on another geocaching escape over Xmas, this time to the mighty Coromandel, then over to Opotiki and stop off at Rotorua to return home on 5 January. Had an fabulous time exploring many wonders of our country. Rounding up over 400 caches along the way, with a few LABS, 20 odd TMGTs, virtuals and lots of interesting earth caches to keep the mind busy. Watching the sun come up on New Years Day at Mt Maunganui was spectacular. Lots of walking and even more driving. But had an awesome time. Thanks to all COs who made this adventure so special.

Although this trap has features missing that are present in real traps, I am not sure about teaching people to search in real traps for a cache - not all cachers are experienced and some may not know the difference. Or maybe I am just over cautious.
Taybeedragon and I went on a tour of the Coromandel - one of the few places of New Zealand, especially of Te ika a Maui, that I have yet to explore throughly, and from there along the coast to Opotiki to see one of my many, many sisters. From 18 December to 5 January we found over 400 caches, including 12 adventure labs (60 caches), 20 or so TMGTs and a host of virtuals and earthcaches. And I hosted an event to see the sun come up on New Year's day - surprisingly popular given that it was at 5am. We climbed a lot of hills, saw some amazing beaches that were quite popular despite (or because of) the insane access to them, walk a lot of bush, entered and explored 8 gold mines and generally had an awesome time. However I am glad to be back, but now is the hard part, and I fear it will take just as long - logging!

Well I have got it. But it is not a good advice if you are hunt with children. TFTC
See these often when caching so was fun to find this one. Making our way around the track to hopefully knock these all off.
Spending the long weekend in Whangamata for some Kayaking and Tramping. Arrived today and enjoyed my walk around the area collecting geocaches. Took a while but found the clever hiding. TFTC
Looks like one of those airfix paint pots. Log book full. Sorry just had beach wear today
Found it but alas Garsed has already managed to lose the pen amongst the trees
We spotted the hint object quickly here, but took a bit longer to find the cache on its hidey hole. Thanks!
Having spent a great day cycling and caching in Pauanui, we thought we'd make as much use of the good winter weather as we could. Opoutere looked enticing for a late afternoon caching adventure, and so it turned out to be as we bravely negotiated the dangerous trees in the ever increasing shadows. Woooh Hoooh! Here's an especially BIG dangerous tree - with a secret... Easy find here. Cache all good. TFTC
Been planning on this road trip for ages and finally got there today. Nice early start and beautiful sunshine all day Track is closed but I decided to run the gauntlet as such good weather and no wind to blow branches down. Glad I did as it is a lovely walk and all caches are good Love the recycling happening here TFTC

We made this short walk in the pine wood and stiil can not understand, why this way is closed. Deadly pine trees ?? instead this way is really relaxing. No people around and a few caches on the way. TFTC
What to do before leaving the campground? Go and get as many caches as you could before 10am. We got in to a little hurry but managed to find a few.

Staying the night in the reserve. On our way around the track picking up all the caches, we hope. Mr S soon found this one. The trap was open but no one was home.
Thanks G-2. One more smilie.

We parked our camper van at the start of this short trail and went on a short walk before dinner. Thanks for placing all these caches. Greetings from Switzerland.
On a lil mish from Tauranga today with Grandies in tow as they are on school holidays. A bit overcast but nice mild temp. A fabulous place for a cache. I am logging these with a generic template on Cachly. Many Thanks to all cache owners for the placements. Cheers
Having picked up all the caches in Pauanui and Tairua I decided an outing to Opoutere was next closest and what a little hidden gem it is too! The only problem is that most of these caches are in the ‘forbidden forest’. Closed off due to dangerous trees. Having made it back to the track I’d come in on I realised I had to go back to the outer path. Soon found it and still no falling branches or trees.
Thanks for placing and greetings from the .

Quick find, nice cache, bushbashed from middle trachea as estuary track closed. TFTC.
Cache number 3321. Walked past this on and had to return back along the path. Once I rounded the tree I had a little laugh. This cache is called Trap for players and there were two there. And Trap for Players 2 only had one. Other that that the cache was all good. Found quickly. Thanks for the placement.
Nice easy find once I got the right tree. Thanks for bringing us here from England
Woke up early to lovely views this morning, after overnighting on the foreshore at Whangamata. Time to head north to find caches along the way to Pauanui and Tairua. Neither of us has travelled this part of the country before, so it was all new to us. After visiting the peninsula lookout spot to the north of Whanga our next detour was to Opoutere.
Making our way back along the estuary side now. Less people walking this trail. After finding the other 'Trap' cache we knew what to expect here, and the hint told us where. Thanks.

We grabbed this cache on the way back from our walk to the beach. The hint and name made it easy enough to get to and the cache was not hard to find once we reached ground zero. The cache is safe and sound and there is plenty of room in the log book. Thanks for the cache!
I had a bad feeling about this trap as I approached. The trap seemed to have been torn apart and undoubtedly muggled but after a little look around the cache was spotted safe and sound not a foot from the trap. All good, cheers G-2, TFTC.

Another great Highlight on my NZ trip! On the map Opoutere looked like a quite and lovely place and so I decided to visit it and have a short stroll near the seaside. That was perfect! It was exactly what I had expected and so I had a very, very nice walk here and also could find some very, very nice Caches. Really a beautifull landscape.
Thank you so much for showing me this nice place and for the caches. I spend some favorite Points here.

We found that one. First we were not sure about the thing we saw but after reading the hint it was all clear
Loving this walk, no more hills, good company with 2 enthusiastic cachers rusty and supernanny. Nice to cache with keen people, we are all tired but have no thoughts of heading back JUST yet!! No way! I found the home of the bait, didn't get trapped in any way... thanks G, love the play on words.
Gorby spotted this sneaky hide, I think it was a first find for me hidden this way! Lovely dry track, we can hear the sea, but not seen the beach yet! Thanks for the hide and the adventure
Ha ha Duuuuurhhhh ! Didn't get it at first ! But the others were soon on to it !
Very funny ! Lucky still daylight so we could enjoy seeing this ! Thanks Glyn !

Another fun find. Took me a little while as I was looking just a rouch too far off track. Haha.
Lekiprokos's team (aka Ninalila & fefe.adrien) decided to visit Opoutere beach.
Geocaching allowed us to do a nice walk in the forest, along the mangrove swamp.

Mrs P did the honours as Mr P wasn't too sure about the cache title - his turn next I say... t4tc (all safe and dry)
Staying for a couple of days on this beautiful place: Of corse I want to get some caches here!

Another mini raid in Coromandel to find caches for our latest license challenge... With Gap (of Fap and Gap).
We saw a few pest traps already along this track... So, we wondered what sort of a trap you would set for players... A few images came to mind... The coordinates were good for us on this one, and there was no question about where to look. Gap quickly freed this one for us. TFTC.

Hardly needed to look after 'Trap For Players 2', but a nice quick find. That's one more smiley! TFTC!
Got it nice hide found with abcdf4
