Logs
This is the end of the road for me today. Was visting the nearby power stations for work.
Fabulous day to be wandering around these parts. Enjoyed a walk around the water feature
We took our car over the Old Dunstan Rd - didn’t see the sign that says it’s unsuitable for cars until we got to the Paerau end, but no problem for the AWD anyway. Stopped to look at the fishing pond then found this cache, TFTC
First caching road trip of 2023 with KJR, staying in ranfurly for a couple of nights exploring the back roads and beyond
Bit breezy up here today so much so it blew my hat into the paddock...while I jumped the fence Kjr came up with the cache which I hadn't spotted..tftc

Out and about exploring Ranfurly with BCD. Bit windy up here but great views. I was taking photos and then joined in on the hunt while BCD had to retrieve his hat and I walked straight to it TFTC
I honestly wasn’t expecting to find this one but couldn’t see a reason for it to be muggled so had to at least attempt it. Found within 5 minutes of searching in the third place I looked! Cache in excellent condition after over 18 months without a find.
Thanks for the cache, erninz

Up here on my first time on the Old Dunstan Road. Found cache without too much difficulty with Flamingo4850. Signed the new log paper that feet-first had put in. TFTC.
No logs so far this year and only one for 2016 so hopefully it is there. Two of us spent about 10 minutes looking but the dust made it somewhat unpleasant so I didn't stick my hand into all the possible hiding places. Some more recent logs indicated that it can take a bit of time which we didn't have. A find would have been a bonus as our main objectives of the day were Ailsa Craig and Last bus to Logan.
Several pairs of hands spent quite a long time searching for this one in all possible "betweens" without any luck. And it was getting pretty stinking hot by this time of the afternoon - by the time we reached Ranfurly it was 32 degrees!
Now reading past logs it may have moved? A past log says "The hint for this didn't match location" so that's annoying.
Hadn't realised how extensive the flow-on from this power scheme is - the map shows the irrigation canal goes beyond Gimmerburn.

Attending a church camp at en hakkore and out to find a cache or two. Also intend to hide a cache up the sowburn track - a long held ambition. Took a bit of time, patience and logical reasoning but our perseverance paid off. TFTC 1800
Lots of possible spots, found eventually. Needs new log and in different vehicle today without my geokit.
Found today with Ralf06 & Bworm08 on a little caching trip from Ranfurly. Log is very full & sorry no replacement log with us TFTC
I stopped here in perfect weather on a drive from Dunedin to Alexandra today via the Old Dunstan Road. There definitely has been a lot of engineering work going on around here! The cache wasn't where I originally thought it would be but I found it after a few minutes' searching. Signed log, TFTC
That took some time searching. Just completed the Dunstan Trail in motorhome. Had to take it slow. The hint for this didn't match location. Tftc
Out for a day trip over the Old Dunstan road. Despite the season being Summer, today is misty, cold, windy and at times quite wet. About perfect for geocaching because we don't get the guilt's about what else we should be doing. Thanks for the cache.
We're down from Blenheim for the long weekend to visit family and geocaching is the name of the game. This was a really cool cache, particularly for the kids. They rather enjoyed climbing and jumping.
Found with The Rudderpost and FluffyUnicorn02. TFTC

Found after a bit of a scramble. The snow was starting to fall very fast and it was very cold so a quick decision on whether to abandon our plans and get back across the Pigroot was made. TFTC.
The natural snow started to come down as we were here A good idea to head back down I think
after our adventure on the old dunstan road we stopped here. next day we discovered these cache - T4TC ..punkt on tour with chomo

AS I don't intend being in this area in the near future I will place this on my watch list and any further DNFs will signal to me that it has indeed gone at which stage I will archive it.

Heading off to Poolburn for a fish, thought we would pop up and do this one on the way. TFTC
Found nearly a year after previous geocacher had written their name. Cache in good condition, all is well.
Not sure if cache moved as hint not quite correct, however found after a look a bit further afield, TFTC
Another interesting part of the Taieri's story - certainly unnatural! If the penstocks were painted green or green/ brown they'd blend in better! TFTC.
I remember the pipes being blue last time I saw them. Have they been painted? Or is my memory playing tricks with me again? TFTC.
Water is almost gold in this part of NZ. The dammed and diverted Taieri River turnes over the generators then goes on to irrigate the Maniototo Plains. The penstock sticks out like a sore toe but gives a good head of water for the power station. Good fishing round here !
This sure is unnatural, especially in a place like this. We had no trouble finding this cache. TFTC
Found it at 1:28 PM, The coordinates for this one were spot on which made for a quick and easy find.
TFTC, erninz!
