Day 2 of the return trip to Stanthorpe to collect the caches we couldn't find during the Mega weekend, due to lack of rain and too much rain, and to see off Team Robins on their epic adventure around Australia. Today the plan was to collect Stan's apples and a few other caches before heading off to Team Robins for an event to see them off on their adventure.
Thanks Team Robins for the cache.

A quick trip to Stanthorpe for the traditional but a little early Xmas in July event for 2015. I took the opportunity to tackle the caches along the once was Mt Lindsay Highway but is now Mt Lindsay Road.
I had travelled the dirt section while at the mega to get to Bald Rock but that was just about sight-seeing. Today was different. I saw the sunrise at Amberley, bypassed the traffic jam at Aratula and made a beeline for Liston and the nearby Undercliife Falls. I headed south to Tenterfield and tackled everything along the way, before heading north to Robins Nest and the event and the overnight stay.
All was quiet in Liston but maybe that goes without saying. I paused to pay my respects at the War Memorial which was adorned with memorials from the dawn service. Lest We Forget.
Thanks for placing this cache Team Robins

Once the GPS settled, Ghostgums and I knew where to focus our efforts to secure the find. It took a minute or so to reveal the container, but we made quick work of etching our details in the log. All done in the privacy of the little den, we got back on the road.
Cheers Team Robins.

Today we did some post Mega caching finding 83 and 2 DNFs caches. Our aim today was to try and finish the caches on the eastern side of Stanthorpe to Tenterfield and return. We enjoyed the journey that the cache locations took us to.
We appreciate the time and effort gone into placing and maintaining these caches for our enjoyment.

QLD Mega trip 2015 with Sol de Lune. On this almost 400km road trip we drove from Canberra to Stanthorpe caching in all the towns along the way with mostly great success. Around the Mega there were heaps of caches to be done including a few power trails. Despite the weather we got all of the planned caches done.
Day eleven took us back north to do more of the trails. We ere joined by Rapidlywild and SpecimenX for the morning. After a creative drive to get to our starting point we powered through all of the remaining animals by lunch. Then it was back to town to head our different ways. Sold De Lune and I headed out to the Bald rock road to do the remaining caches out that way. Thanks.

Arrived in Queensland early yesterday morning and headed straight out here to Stanthorpe. Oh so many caches and only such a short time for us to find as many as we can, whilst still taking time out to catch up and socialise with all the other geocachers who are in town for the big event. Headed down into NSW today and stopped to grab this cache along the way. We actually found two caches here - does that entitle us to twice the smileys?? Removed the replacement one. Thanks for the cache Aussie Team Robins
Out and about with iluvtrekking on a jaunt between Stanthorpe and Tenterfield while attending the Mega. Beautiful countryside and although we had some showers during the day, it didn't impede on our caching. Thanks Team Robins

Today marks our fifth and final day in Stanthorpe caching. We have had a great time tackling the local power trails and a number of local caches. We are extremely grateful for all the cache owners for placing the caches for us. Today we are headed around Applethorpe then out Liston Way.

My three month Brisbane adventure has started. Day 8, Stanthorpe area.
No 8 of 41 today. Well hidden, Team Robins. The GeoSchnauzers came with me again. This one took me quite a while, poking and proddiing and feeling around, and crawling on the ground in the shelter. "WHAT are you doing, Dad?" Eventually, I spotted the little lurker. Took some doing, he blended in nicely. I left the seats behind, though. And more water was applied to the GeoSchnauzers, and my good self.

In Stanthorpe for Christmas in July. Had expected it to be really cold but the weather is magnificent and perfect for a couple of hours caching before lunch. Thank you for placing this cache
Hunted in all the likely spots until Mr. Herbz spied it in the shadows. A good one to do in the rain. TFTC Team Robins.
Nice quick find with geolze waiting in the car. Keen to visit when the lavender I'd in bloom. TFTC
Another day in Stanthorpe and surrounds with Liz & Bruce tidying up some of the outlying caches of which this was one. Nice to venture a bit further out and see a bit more of the countryside. Thanks to Team Robins for this cache.
Out again with LazzaL driving around the gorgeous Stanthorpe area and surrounding district finding geocaches. Caching in two States, pretty cool. This time we got as far as Tenterfield. We had a lovely day with a light breeze and plenty of sunshine making the weather perfect. A great combination of hides kept us on the lookout and we spent time exploring some of the wonderful areas near gz. A big thanks to Team Robins
On last day of geocaching long weekend with Richmond Lad looking for caches between Tenterfield and Stanthorpe via Liston. Had great weather for searching for these little treasures. TFTC.
Visit to Liston had 2 purposes - look for caches as well as meet up with someone I used to work with.
This cache was across the road where she was living. Took a little while to locate but eventually found.

Morning tea time and the perfect spot. The town seemed pretty quiet today. Nobody in sight. I spied the cache on the ground as I walked towards GZ. I took it with me to the nearby table whilst I had my coffee and bikkies.
I am not sure where the cache came from. I took a guess based on some ideas from previous logs.

Found this cache whilst in Stanthorpe with Captain Terror. We had come down for the weekend for the Canadian event and managed to escape for an hour to let our inner introverts recharge the batteries.
We parked the car and hopped out to start searching. I spotted the cache within too long but I couldn't reach the cache container so Captain Terror helped me out. I signed the log and managed to replace the cache myself Thanks for the cache Team Robins.

Found on a 4 day trip which included 3 nights camping in Stanthorpe with three of the kids, Jasmine 9yo and James + Jemma 7yo. Started off heading via Brisbane and the Planetarium, collecting a few around that area with Radnoski, met a few other fellow cachers, then headed South via Warwick to Stanthorpe, collecting caches along the way. Stayed at Top of The Town, and arriving late, a mad rush to set up a new tent ensued. But with help from the kids all was well.
The second day featured over 120 finds, and a clean up for me of the A.S. Series, Animal Series and the Fruit Run. Saw some great spots, and the kids had a ball finding a heap of caches.
The third day featured 86 finds, a few DNF's, but a sensational loop starting in Stanthorpe, and heading South and then back to Stanthorpe, a distance of around 200 or so kms. Visited some of the best cache locations I have been to, and quite a few fav points to be given out. A big maccas dinner the reward for the kids and me....
The fourth and final day, was of course the pack up, then a cruisy trip home, collecting only 22 finds, but there were still some good spots visited. Also got the chance to meet Team Robins, great to meet you.....
In summary, found 258 caches, got my 9000th find, and had a nice time away with the kids... Missed some awesome looking Earth Caches in the area, but will get them next time I plan a trip out that way. My sincere thanks to all cache owners for hiding and maintaining their caches, without whose efforts, I would have had nothing to find. I am using a generic log on the power trail caches, but on others, of course there will be a personal comment.

Apologies for the extremely late log. Went on our annual camping trip to Boonoo Boonoo with friends and completed Basket Swamp the day before. Everyone else climbed Bald Rock (the hard way) on the day we found this cache. We decided not to this time as we were flying out on an overseas trip and decided not to risk an injury to either of us so close to our flight date. So did something safer and captured the rest of the caches along this road. On return from our trip, I discovered these on my GPS found list. We thought this one may take more time than a quick sit down, but we were in luck and looked in the right spot early in the search. A lot easier when there are no muggles around watching you though TFTC
This one took a bit more looking than it should. It was starting to get dark and the container blended in well. We did find it in the end though. Great spot. TFTC.
Possum found the cache on the ground outside the structure. She placed it back inside hopefully in a good spot that will be safe. Thanks Team Robins for the hunt. A great spot.

Found lying on the ground. Possibly pushed there by a gust of wind. Log signed and cache replaced where we are hoping it was placed. The painters suggested they should make a bracket to sit the cache in. . They were really thrilled to know what the cache was all about. TFTC.
We are told that the Liston Hall across the road is a 'jumping' place to be some Saturday nights.
Apparently the Lavender Farm owners have had nothing to do with the colours chosen by the painters

Found this cache after checking every other place a cache could be in a place like this [:o)]. Signed the log and headed off to our B&B. At breakfast the next morning, our hostess told us the structure was to be cleaned and painted later in the day. On our way past, we called in and explained to the workers about geocaching. They were fascinated and as 'agap2' said, they were careful to replace the cache when they finished the refurbishment [^].
Out for a drive in the bush, found some good caches while seeing some great sights.

Our 33rd Wedding Anniversary Camping and Caching run…
Started off doing this one solo but after a few minutes Mrs RF joined me, we were almost resigning ourselves to our first DNF for the weekend when I stepped back, hands on hips, took a deep breath and spotted the hide nowhere near where we were looking…
Took nothing but memories and left nothing but our tag and footprints.
Hide, log and container are in good nick.

9416 kms travelled in 21 days, one awesome eclipse observed near Mt Carbine in Northern Queensland and 712 cache finds, including a small handle of FTF's.
This was a trip I'd been planning for over 12 months with the main reason being to observe the solar eclipse on the morning of the 14th of November. I had decided to drive to Palm Cove and back, where my penthouse accommodation was located, while the rest of the family flew up and back. I love the drive and the unknown adventures that lay ahead; and I even think the last time I did one this big may have been for the previous eclipse in Australia which occurred over SA.
Apart from the great experiences, awesome scenery, and the characters met, the other reason to drive was to also do some serious caching, with the plan to stop at some power trails along the way including the Fruit Run and A.S. series near Stanthorpe on the way up and the Mid North Coast Wander series, just out of Port Macquarie, on the way back.
I had five days to travel each way with ten days in between spent in Palm Cove holidaying with my family. My route up took me from Melbourne to Tocumwal and up to Glenn Innes, through Toowoomba, Rockhampton and the coast road to Cairns while my route back was a bit more erratic. Heading from Cairns to Townsville then via Charters Towers to Rockhampton. From here it was through the amazing mining region to Roma then across to Dalby down through Stanthorpe (again) to Armidale, Port Macquarie, Wagga Wagga, Tocumwal and then home - phew.
I cached my way along the Mt Lindesay Rd into Stanthorpe where I was going to start the Fruit Run and A.S. series of caches. Many great cache hides found along the way and some cool locations as well. Cache found and log signed. Thanks for the hide.
