Who would have thought I'd learn about a couple of Normans? Well, I did! When I was young I remember my mother taking us to see Norman Kirks grave although I never understood the significance of this, but I suspect he was a man who was ahead of time. It seems there is even a conspiracy theory that foreign agents were involved in his death. I guess that makes for an interesting story. I got to the resolved GZ today and had a good look around. The hint was good and the coords were too so I flicked the CO a photo of the hint item which appears to need some maintenance. Thanks jackieandgrant for permission to log.
I had an opportunity to go to the South Island and take a week off work and do some caching while Mrs Yeetrees had to go to the ANZEG Conference 2018 which was being held in Nelson.
Day 4. Nelson. This was the second day of 4 that Mrs Yeetrees had to attend classes and lectures at the ANZEG Conference 2018, while she was doing this it was my aim to go around the CBD and nearby and see if I could pick up a few of the harder caches around the area. This included a few different types of caches rather than just hitting traditional drive by caches.
After finding GCMXWR - Murphy's Law (Nelson/Marlborough), this was the next cache that I had on my list that I wanted to find today. Having managed to solve this puzzle a while back, I decided that since I was in the area I might as well go and see if I could pick it up.
Arriving near GZ, I managed to find a carpark not too far from GZ , and being in the middle of the afternoon on a mid week there werent too many cars parked near the final GZ, managed to find a safe parking spot not too far from the final GZ, got out of the car and noticed that there werent too many muggles around, so it was a great time to go and check out this cache.
Arriving at GZ and then I thought to myself where would I hide this cache, after thinking about it a bit more I soon decided to check out a spot, and soon spotted something that didnt quite belong, had a closer look and soon realised that it was the cache..
Managed to retrieve the cache, signed and then replaced the cache back as found. Thanks jackieandgrant for placing this cache here and for bringing me to this spot, TFTC TNLNSL (13604). Great spot for the final very apt indeed.

While the kids were sorting out some photos inside I took a little stroll outside. Nice hide. Another puzzle off that solved pile. Thanks for the puzzle and thanks for the cache.
Solved a while ago in anticipation of our family holiday to Nelson. Went for an evening cache raid but forgot to bring torches so glad it was well lit here. Nicely themed puzzle - TFTC
ThgearP did the preliminary work and on a fine Sunday morning we headed into the city for a couple of pick ups. Parked within 2m of this one and made a quick find - nicely done. All in good order, signed log and replaced as found.
Thanks for the cache jackieandgrant.
Thanks for the cache jackieandgrant.
Solved a while ago but making the most of the souvie period for pick up, out with SJT_NZ. Log was damp but writable but dropped in a back up in a bag just in case others have difficulty, TFTC
Delighted to find this cache, jackieandgrant. Thanks for the puzzle & cache.
I actually stopped by here at 2am on New Year's Day, on my way home for seeing in the New Year with friends. Probably not the wisest thing to do - and a kind young man was rather persistent about wanting to call a taxi for me - so I trotted off.
Today - quite heavy rain at times, nobody about this evening. Took a little bit for the penny to drop !!
The log is slightly damp but otherwise all good. I was surprised it hadn't been found for some months.

Heading out for a potentially painful shopping mission, I had a look for the closest cache to sweeten the outing. Having a read and doing the calculations at home showed me where to look on an overall good afternoon.
Thanks very much!
Thanks very much!
Always pleased when there is a mystery cache added to the found statistics. Thanks jackieandgrant for the cache
I solved the puzzle before our journey to New Zealand. Today we arrived at the south Island and we will stay the next days in Nelson. The cache was an easy find. Thank you for that...
I put in a new log and it's in the correct place. Please keep lid tightly on.
Found with NZDi. While in Nelson for some shopping and to visit my Mum we were in this area so decided to have another crack at finding this mystery which has been solved and saved for ages. We had a look a few weeks ago but there were some cars (probably staff members) parked real close to GZ and we didn't want to look dodgy hanging about them. At the time we checked out the obvious hide location without any luck and in the intervening days, I managed to pick the brains of a previous finder.
As it turned out, the nudge he gave us did not pan out and we found the water-logged log in a zip-lock bag in a different location. The log was pretty much mush, so I replaced it with a new write in the rain log in a fresh zip-lock bag. The original is probably dry now if the CO requires it for audit purposes.

Normally a busy place, we hadn't had the opportunity to find this one previously, so with the shops shut today it was the perfect time and a quick find.
Jojo and I were across the hill for the weekend, and there were a few goals. Most of these revolved around challenge caches, the dozens of solved puzzles we had loaded and other cache series, but the main aim was to relax and have fun. We will be back
This one hadn't been found for a while, so we feared the worst. But it still lives, although the container has no lid anymore. Log a little damp but signed regardless, thanks Jackieandgrant.

Looked for this several times in the past. With the recent find I went to check it out this time and had a success. Put a replacement log in the cache to help it on is way. Cheers.
ANZAC weekend time for a wee road trip. Ah Sunday, cruising around picking up the odd smiley.
Thanks to the CO's for the hides. Cheers.

Last cache for the day. Took me a while to spot, but tracked it down. Unfortunately, the logbook was too squidgy to sign. Photo as proof of location.
I see it took me over 2 years to get around to solving this puzzle! Nice collection of Normans there[?] Now that I was visiting the Nelson CBD it was apt time to go remove it from my unfound puzzles list. Apt place for the quick park and grab. TFTC
With a caching catch up event on in Nelson this afternoon I was invited along to join Capperz and The Seagnoid on a day's caching in the Nelson area. For once my other weekend plans didn't clash and I was able to tag along and get a few caches on the books. It's always nice to try out a new area and see the variety of different hides along the way.
Well hidden / camo'd, but got it eventually thanks to capperz well trained caching eyes.

Today is a caching event in Nelson day. So today must also be a caching mission to Nelson day too!
Setting off early from our current homes at Woodbourne the Seagnoid and G H 6 7 1 0 were met at the breakfast hall for a quick feed prior to setting off 'over the hill'.
Meeting at 0630 and returning around 8 in the evening it was a big day all round for all concerned (is there any other way to have a Geocaching day, than big?)
Tried to find this with a previous finder late last year and no joy. Had solved the puzzle whilst on a few weeks sick leave post foot operation so was keen to make the find and close the deal. Back again today and hopeful of the find. Spent a while messing around before trying to find near the hint item. Aha there it was and success at last. Thanks for replacing too

No joy here today sadly
Not sure it's here. Solved puzzle seemed to point me here
Previous finder says it's gone sadly. Needs a check please

On a trip to nelson and thought we should grab some geocaches while we're here. This on had our hosts stumped (we dragged them along and turns out they really enjoyed it). But the seasoned geocachers found it with ease. TFTC
[green] Hired a car and set off to do a puzzle run of Nelson. I had solved over 30 puzzles over the past few weeks, and decided today was the day to tick them off. So a puzzle only day, no traditionals allowed! And just to make sure, I only loaded the puzzles into my GPS.
Nice easy find at GZ after concerns that this would be another flax hunt (I don't like flax or toitoi caches). And for a change, an urban cache with no muggles to dodge, despite it being Saturday mid morning - peak muggle season.
On rechecking the puzzle as I write up this log I am surprised I did not make the connection between the cache title and the puzzle contents. Seems obvious now!

#8172. Troodles had found this one a few weeks back while streaking. We were in the area today (heading home from a walk at The Brook) and decided to stop off so I could sign the log too. Nicely hidden. TFTC.
With just minutes to get to work on time, I still hadn't found my cache of the day and as this one was a drive by, it looked ideal. Luckily it was a quick find as the lid was off and I spotted the logbook. Phew, my third attempt to find a cache this morning and third time lucky.
Thanks for the puzzle (solved ages ago) and for day #126 of my streak.

This weekend I've been in Nelson at the behest of Mrs TEF who sent me away to spend some man time with my buddies here, including the CO at yesterday's mini beer and meat festival!
I decided to skip out on Church this morning due to having almost lost my voice at the hands of a vicious cold, making it impossible to really catch up with parishioners in the two Nelson churches I've ministered in.
Instead the main goal for today was to collect GC36BK7 'Triassic Park' and this cache in order to knock over two more souvenirs of August.
It didn't take long to work out the final co-ords and later in the day my little buddy Charlie and I made a quick stealthy find.

We tried to find this one off the fly a month back but as we worked off details on my phone we were not that surprised when nothing turned up.
On reflection this might have been because that cache was out of action at the time but whatever the reason I rechecked the answers and then never had the opportunity to revisit...until today!
A quick check of the coords took us to the place we looked before and a little poke and a prod soon revealed the cache; well there were no identifying marks so we assumed it was the cache as all the pieces of the puzzle fitted together. The cache location looked familiar from our earlier attempt but whether it was missing before or we overlooked it is academic.
Thanks #183

Not sure what I missed here and my hunt was kyboshed by some lady deciding to park right next to GZ. Huh, the carp ark was empty and you park right there? Oh well, next time. Cheers
[green]Day 3 of our 5 day Easter caching roadtrip. We had to bypass a few to make checkin in time so we went out afterwards to find some more caches before dark.[/green]
A nicely camoed conatiner. We downsided the baggie to fit better and took the Soccer Ball TB. Thanks for the cache

Dropped car in to Smith & Smith for a stone chip repair so had to grab this one!! Took a bit of finding...thinking of the clue a bit too much!! Got it in the end!

In town early again today, so it has been a good chance to clean up a few caches. Drove past this yesterday, but there was a muggle shopper waiting for Harvey N to open, so I felt a bit exposed. All clear this morning and a pretty quick find. Great hide. A favourite for me. TFTC
Solved prior to coming to nelson, but had transposed 1 number wrong. A quick check and after a bit of search, cache was in hand. TFTC

Early morning Sunday; miniscule chance of being muggled. No cars made it easier. Great cache, almost didn't spot it but it seemed the most logical place. Great container, TVMFTC
Finally managed to tick this one off. I'll be honest and say I've looked for the cache several times without success. Now wondering how I managed to miss it!!!! It was staring me in the face every time I searched!!!! TFTC - I'm gonna award a well deserved favourite!!
Second visit, first time we came in the dark and got distracted by a certain object which was nothing to do with the cache!! Second visit in the day and saw it straight away with help of the hint. A nice hide!! Thanks!

This has to be one of the easier puzzles to solve .... a chuckle when found too!

Rainy evening stop-off on the way to ante natal, pretty much muggle free zone, quick find which was a relief given the volume of vegetation that has sprung up here. Enjoyed the puzzle and container, many thanks.
quick stop on the way to class and almost running late, very quiet at that time of the evening. TFTC
Walked up. Saw it. Funny how that happens sometimes. Appreciate the extra effort with the container.
Thank you for placing this cache.
Thank you for placing this cache.
Nice One!!!!!!!!!!Not the first place we looked, but very close. Clever bit of camo that the Grandson Bryn was able see through and make the find. Co-ordinates could not have been better. Well done. Muich fun! Thanks
After yesterday's failed attempts, the evening review revealed incorrect coordinates in our units. After fixing this, it was found. Although we almost dismantled a sprinkler timer in the processes! Thanks for the mission.
Another lesson in not dismantling the real deal. Wondered why a cache would have a battery etc in it, so we did a little wider seach and came up with the real cache. Whoops, hope the other item still works - of course it will, we were considerate.
Not too many muggles about

Solved a while ago and had pretty good idea where it was but always to many muggles around each time i was passing. Perfect opportunity after 11 pm on a Saturday night on the way home from a day caching. Number 19 of the day, had to hide in the bushes for a few minutes while a couple of drunks walked passed while completing the log TFTC
An interesting puzzle which all fell into place when I reached GZ. Luckily it was a late Saturday afternoon and very muggle free.

That was one heck of a location to find muggle free! Lost count of how many drive bys I did. Early morning came out as the winner. Stealthy hide. TFTC
Doing a bit of caching while in town and dropped by to pick up this one. Not too many muggles close by today, so it was a quick retrieve. Clever hide. TFTC
Cool puzzle. There have been some interesting Normans. Dropped by this afternoon to sign the log. Thanks for the neat cache.
Found while caching with Hazedarus, this was sitting exposed with it's camo top beside it. Replaced with top on but it needs reattaching to the container. If it had been intact it might have taken some time to spot! TFTC.
Caching with Holymu for fun and to accumulate some challenge requirements. Were wondering where all the muggles had gone. Solved the puzzle some time ago and it popped up on the GPS when in the neighbourhood. Coords were spot on and could have been park and grab without leaving the car if not for very clever camo. Some maintenance might be required. Puzzle was educational. TFTC
Researched a few Normans and soon had a good co-ordinate. We were able to park quite close to GZ this afternoon and managed a quick find without attracting the attention of any passing muggles. Nice camo. Thanks.

I was hoping something would stand out for me too. Perhaps a grid search at night may help.
In town grabbing our cache for this xtra day of the year and now after the event it was nice and quiet at GZ. A quick find this time with no muggles about and we can tick this one of our to do list. TFTC
First try of this cache was during the daytime and was to busy - so had this one in mind to do after the event so grabbed a couple on the way here then pulled up to a nice quiet parking spot and cache was soon located - phew - only a couple of muggles passed and in the darkness the gps made a great phone as they went past !!! signed log thanks for the puzzle and the cache
I had no intntion of going caching today - didn't even have my GPS with me. But I turned up here in search of something else and as I pulled in I remembered this cache. I'd been here before to look but it was far too busy so I left it. Today I could see something not quite right on approach so a nice quick and unexpected find with no one in sight. Very good camo. TFTC #3021
what fun, especially when the answers are given. As other said, nice to have the link at the cache too. Thank you.
Solved the puzzle at home but had to repeat the hint emphatically and LOL when we approached GZ. Would have left a pathtag but had used all in my pocket. We were returning to the car when we saw the funky storm water cover - new pathtag in thinking process! NINO TFTC
I called by the other day for a 2TF and had a DNF instead. Thought that I had solved the puzzle wrong or that the KE's had re-hid it too well. After finding Fire, Fire I returned with renewed hope. Still struggled and then all of a sudden there it was. I must have had my hand within two inches of it on my previous visit. How does one sometimes make the find so hard [?]

Mrs SoBad decided this was an appropriate one for her to look for while on the way to the market and while SoBad was manning a garage sale stall. Early in the day so no problems with muggles. Thanks for the links - although because of Sellar and Yeatman there was one date she knew very well. Took a while to get reception, but no problems with the find. Thanks.
Knocked this off while heading for a night out with Vespa53. Hopefully our loitering didn't catch anyone's attention.

Was pleased it was a nice quick find at gz- managed to avoid looking like a complete Norman searching for the cache! Good one, thanks.
Hard to feel inconspicuous at GZ. Felt like Spiny N was watching me and waiting to pounce at any moment! Nice puzzle, nice camo, TFTC, Biggles.
FTF. A quick puzzle that linked nicely with gz and a nicely camo'ed container. Inlaws staying so a rare chance for Mrs KE to come out on a night time sortie. She latched onto the cache almost instantly. Thanks for the fun.
