Hiked up to Mt Archer the hard way - finding this cache was harder! Recommend long pants and prepare to get some prickles. The lookout is lovely as is the entire walk. Didnt have a pen but took a photo. TFTC
Followed the path until we came to a DANGER sign that said Unauthorised entry prohibited and that Park Alert - Walking Track Temporarily Closed.
Had this marked as an easy cache to get today on our trip up Mount Archer but on getting to the top we saw that alltrails and geocaching comments mentioning the trailhead being closed, this made it more enticing to go after.
I didn't bother even checking the trailhead assuming it no longer existed we took the other trail around via grasstree lookout and then followed the old trail down into the bush with the help of alltrails maps, the trail still more or less exists but is littered with trees and rocks but not all that difficult.
Eventually I came out on a maintained trail that I followed for a while but looked like I was going in the wrong direction. I decided to just follow the old track through the bush until I came out on the maintained trail again right near gz. I guess if I had have followed the trail from grasstree and never ventured off I would have eventually made it here but as there's no signage and this new track doesn't exist on the map I was using, this old overgrown trail did the job.

Due to unforeseen circumstances Mr Smokey Bear will no longer be a part of Team Smokey Bear and will continue his adventures as "SmokeyBearOG".
So I'm relogging all previous finds under my new account.
Unfortunately this log will not show the original logging date.
**Thanks to pmt123 for this adventure, looking forward to many more.**

We would've loved to do the walk and find the cache. This national park is rather disappointing, no maps, no parking for larger vehicles, outdated information on the website and we couldn't find the trailhead from the top in the long thick growth.

Finally catching up with my logging!*
An epic 3 week roadtrip up to Longreach/Winton and back to Brissy. ️️
We finally made it to Winton and now were on the homerun back to Brisbane! How magnificent is this place!!!?? A nice walk to the cache after a busy day exploring. I think the lookout at Mount Archer is phenomenal also!
This was a quick find for us. Replaced as found and away we went to explore more of the town.

Did not bring a pen as remembered about halfway. But I did bring a photo for my tale, my second time up searching with DarkEntity and my girl and was not giving up this time by this time I could tell what a Zamia was. I read the logs and knew what to look for but still a tricky find.TFTF

Tricky little cache - if you didn't see the update in the activity, it's no longer in a plastic camo jar - it's a micro metal cache now.
I probably should have worn long pants... And gloves.
I still don't know the difference between a zamia and a xanthorrhoea, but found it anyway thanks to the hint of it being attached to a log

That was a hard one!
Strange location given its a national park. Make sure you're wearing closed in shoes and long pants!
Fabulous walk and views. Tftc!

I don't often chase Micros, this one reminded me why! 45mins and checking the same spot 3-4 times, only by luck did I find it.
Definitely learnt the difference between a Zamia & Xanthorrhoea.
Great day for a great view, TFTC

The views and the walk are amazing. There were a lot of options available and the hint narrowed the search marginally. I got lucky and moved the right thing and there it was.
Caching in and around the area, we picked up a few caches and this was one of them.
After a great drive up the mountain and top views I headed off down the track on a well formed track to GZ. After reading the cache description and hint made the find easier as there are many places that the cache hide coud be. Cache and contents were in good condition.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Cache is now a micro...still tethered. BYOP. ps ....know the difference between a zamia and a xanthorrhoea! Happy hunting.
The council has closed Pilbeam Drive until after March 2019. The other access via The Zamia trail is still closed too. Hope to enable this again sometime soon. Thanks
A sign at the stsrt of the track says track closed for construction work. Also, there has been a fire through the area im the last couple of weeks (some logs are still smouldering) and NPWS have closed the track again due to the fire. My experience suggests the cache may now be cinders and I recommend this cache be disabled until the CO can get in and check, replacing if necessary. We had a nice amble on the tracks which are still open. Thanks for a reason to come here on a free afternoon on our way north.
Well I’m making it count by signing my name in the log book But this Dirtbag from Victoria loves this kind of caching a lovely walk thru a awesome forest with some sneaky specy views then to arrive at Gz as the sun was going down and see the hue of the horizon made it all worth while Cache wasn’t difficult to find but I’ve got my mojo on today I left some stickers for the next finder
THANX FOR THE ADVENTURE
THANX FOR THE ADVENTURE
The best view is at the Mount Archer Summit, right at the car park. The view from Sleipner Viewpoint is rather obstructed with growth and we were EATEN ALIVE by mosquitoes!!! The coordinates wanted us 16m into the middle of the viewpoint island shrubbery. Not conducive to the hint. Not a great experience at all. The best view of Mt Sleipner is at a pull off on the drive back down.
Everyone was keen for a trip up the hill so while there I tried for this cache.
I feel like I searched everywhere with no luck.

This one sure took a while! I had the boyfriend poking around getting itchy legs for quite a while before he spotted it. We both really enjoyed the walk down. TFTC!
After the lovely morning with the group members , and our lunch break, Uwe 001 and I continued to Mount Archer. Beautiful grasstrees and awesome views. Tftc
Found it. Eventually . We enjoyed an excellent wander around up here today. It really is a gorgeous place to be. The new co ords are spot on. (Thanks PMT123.) I'll be back to do the other walks up here! Tftc
Finally found the new coordinates work but they have not been updated on the cache page need to use the ones in the log but great walk and thanks for the cache
Would the ministro please contact the owner about this caxhe. I am waiting to enable it.,please!

TFTC. A walk through the bush was rewarded by the views and a rescued travel bug. Retrieved Donald Duck TB
Due to road works on Mt Archer this cache is not accessable easily. Will advise when road reopens. Thankyou
Came here today with The-Shredder. We thought it would be a bit nearer, but so we walked the way down to the lookout. Cache is there and in good condition. TFTC Skyryser
A great jog down to the cache and the lookout. A beautiful view well worth the effort.
A slightly slower jog back to the top lol.
A slightly slower jog back to the top lol.
Well, the GPSr said it was about 780m from where we were parked but the sign said that the lookout was 1.2km away. We were prepared for a bit of a walk so set off and went down, down and further down, all while thinking that we'd have to go back up, up and up to get back to the carpark. Great views from this area and a favourite point from us for the location. The area has obviously been part of a recent fuel reduction burn-off and we were worried that the cache might have been a victim of the fire but it was all ok. Reckon the terrain rating here should be upped a bit to maybe 3.5 or 4? TFTC
Having a day off meant I could walk the Zamia Track and that meant I could claim this cache along the way. Easy find on a great hike so far. But I did climpse a snake slithering across the track and into the undergrowth just ahead of me. That meant I had to walk past it to continue my journey. Fortunately I have a healthy respect for snakes and am not scared of them. (In normal circumstances that is)

After walking up to the top of mount Archer along the main road at increasingly bad weather I was a bit disappointed, that all the view was hidden by clouds. But I was all the more delighted to find the Zamia Walk back to the town, which was not marked on my GPS.
Thanks for the Cache in this amazing forest.

Found it but didn't stick around to enjoy the view as we were getting bitten alive by mozzies.
Visiting my mum, Nana, and Peter from the US. I was kicked out of the house for two hours and this was my fourth stop. After breaking a rib at my last caching stop -- and I'm not joking -- what could be better than a 2.5 km hike? I live in the US and haven't been home for 5 years, so really enjoyed walking in the bush. Doesnt look the trail gets much action. No problems finding the cache. Noticed the log had been signed last in November 2013. TFTC! [B]771

A great diversion from working the trail today. Gorgeous views all around that loop! Found cache in great shape, but like a dumb dumb, I failed to read the cache listing again at GZ. I remembered CO posting something about changing the baggie. Soooooo... I did, even though it didn't need it. Turns out that log was NOT posted on THIS cache. No worries. You now have a new bag... like it or not

checked it and its all ok. still well hidden and hasn't been touched by any fires. Retrieved the geocoin which had been there for over 6 months!
A big walk for my little girls. My daughter Rosalea made it all the way with me. A little tuffy.
I had to come up to Rocky today to drop Geoson and His Mates at the Airport, So I thought I would clock my Cache numbers up a bit
A good bit of exercise to be had here

1264. Spent a pleasant time wandering down to this one with geograndaughter. We gained an interesting history lesson and the cache today. The Talent - TFTC .
Had a long trek down then got half way to find out we forgot the pen had to then go back up and get the pen to go all the way down again to find there was a pen already in there. TFTC
At last a beautiful sunny day in Rocky. We made the most of it and got out to do a few caches. We particularly enjoyed the long views and walk to this one. A really lovely area.
Thanks to The Talent.

Recent DERM policy regarding geocaching in National Parks has required that all caches contain only a logbook and pen. I swapped over the cache containers to be more suitable for the requirements.
I also want to use that container for another cache

Quick walk out to drop off TB that I have been meaning to track.
A bit black where the fires have gone through.
Brought back memories when my daughter's school year and some mothers walked up last year, it took us four hours!!!
Took lego minifigure

Another nice view. Lovely afternoon bush walk. Got the TB. He is on his way to the big smoke. We took the angry birds sticker. Thanks geokids love them. Left a Mr men.
*FTF* My sons and I had a nice walk down to the cache site. I was a bit surprised to a few cars at the start of the track. We past a few people on there way back so the lookout was all ours. We had the cache in our hands in seconds. I left the TB for someone else to move on. TNLNSL
