22-Nov-21
Thanks for tye cache and adding to this fun trail

21-Oct-21
Given it was show day, we thought it would be good to get the bikes out and get some caches along the pipeline track with the geokids. This took far longer to find than it should of due to youngest geocacher looking at hint item and saying she could not move it. Tried other places before coming back to find it at the hint item. On the cool and windy but dry day of Monday, 6 September 2021, i decided to finish off this most fun trail with the best views through the trees ever and on a very friendly and well maintained track
PTPT Green Rosella, was found and it's log was signed at 11:50.

{Those two Park workers returned, stopped and we chatted again for a bit. "We only had a small saw not a big one" the guy said. The woman at the wheel had a laugh about the underestimation too. "Yeah, it was a reasonable sized tree" i added Big Grin} A light-hearted moment indeed Wink

The cache and contents are in good condition Cool

Quick find and 90 caches up didn’t have a pen so photo to prove

05-Apr-21
I was on a phone call as i approached this one, so had a look around with no luck at first.
I was looking for a bigger tree so initially searched elsewhere, before i realised the error of my ways and the cache was eventually found without a bushbash even required.
Thanks dippedidooda for adding to the ptpt series with a geocache !
Sorry i'm a muppet and haven't logged this until now.

Apologies for the late and generic log.
Thanks for the cache

28-Jun-20
Today Nettieknows and I headed to Hobart with the MTBs to hit up the pipeline cache trail. We had a lot of difficulty early on finding every second cache then managed to find all of the in the second half. Overall a great day out with 23 finds

Cute container

17-May-20
After close encounters with muggles elsewhere on the track, with enough wiggle room to find the cache, we ran out of luck here. Two muggles practically on top of GZ.

08-Mar-20
Easy find top side of track.

Set of on this cache Journey along the PTPT track, what a great easy track to walk. It was a busy track with many runners and push bike riders at the start of the track but once I got to the hut then I didn't see another person. Just the time out I needed. I relied on the hits a lot as the GPS wasn't great tree coverage and a overcast day. With 18 Finds, 7 DNF, 2 not attempted due to difficulty and 3 along the trail that had been archived. Thanks to all the CO that have placed caches along the way.

29-Mar-19
Today we are in the area from Mt Wellington.
Here we wanted to make the serie from the pipe trail.
This was an wonderful path with excellent caches. We must not search too far in the bush and mostly we find them very quick. Also the hints was great.
Two container we give a new logbook. By the Nr. 22 we end our tour, because the wether changed.
We had a lot of fun and we give for the first and the last cache from our trail an thick point.
Thank you for the caches and greetings from Germany send Moorhelmi

20-Mar-19
Had a great walk along the Pipe Line Track. The weather was cold and wet and the fog was heavy all day so no view but that didn’t stop us from thoroughly enjoying our day.

The GPS was struggling under the thick canopy so we relied heavily on the hints.

Thanks to all the COs who have placed caches along this track.

24-Feb-19
Coming down to Hobart to visit the newly relocated Hancock Clan, we needed to decide on a good target for the day. The Dragon’s Lair looked right up out alley, so we walked the majority of the powertrail to reach it. A few DNFs along the way, but a great place for a power trail.

The gps signal was highly dodgy in places, so the hints came in very handy indeed!

Please excuse the generic logs.

24-Feb-19
An enjoyable day out caching with Delloro who was staying with us for the weekend. The target for the day was The Dragon's Lair and it was a nice bonus to have this trail of caches to find en route! TFTC!
Cheers,
The Hancock Clan

Tassie Trip Day 107 - Today was a good day for a ride on the bike and after deciding to do the Pipeline Track it was finding a place to park and found somewere that was ok but not the correct spot but alas I went on my way and the track was started.

This was another DNF for us today not having a lot of success today the DNF count was a lot higher than expected this however was the last for the day and it was a great spot but possible the GPSr was not performing as it should in this area.

Thanks Dippedidooda for bring us here and adding to this wonderful power trail in what is a lovely area to ride a bike and enjoy the track.

Hi Dippedidooda, thanks for this cache. Loved the hint.
It was about here that Lil Rafa and I shared a light hearted, no, it was an hilarious moment. So much so that signing the log became difficult, laughing and writing being not compatible! I now need to hide a cache called "Saving Time" Smile
Found on a big day out with jnr ep, Lil Rafa and AlbyDangles as we cycled back down the PTPT.

Great view of Cathedral Rock. Log book too wet to sign.

Now I hate copy and paste logs with a passion on my caches but today I am going to do the same, so how do I justify this faux pas with myself you may ask? Well its a power trail and even with all the caches being just a little bit different but all at the side of the trail it was starting to be all a bit the same (ride for a few moments search for a cache ride on) but having been planning to do this series for a few years now I was glad to be asked to join the group today by Goose of Goose and Egg, it was Bear of Smiley Bears idea to start with so its all his fault. I have been up this trail a couple of times before, once to the JABs Event '4 K a milestone of Stories' where I walked up the trail on my lonesome since the original planned event had to be changed due to JABs having other commitments on the day, the second time was another event 'Dragonology Picnic Party Event II' where I was surprised to get a lift to GZ and then after a great day finding the far caches of the trail and also the Dragon with the help of Swampy and his trusted helpers I got a lift part of the way down since the 4WD drivers had a spare seat and my feet were hurting more than I was prepared for.
So this time it was the bike ride to the top that I had spoken of to Mrs rat many an evening where we had said 'we will do that one day' so a big thanks has to go out to Bear and Goose for getting us to do it, we all know what 'we will do that one day' plans are dreams! Well today we had a dream come true with a great ride up the Pipeline with good company finding that provided that little push we needed to do this ride.
So to today's ride it was a 9.30 meet where we all turned up and got ourselves and our bikes together, after a bit of chat we headed up to hill with most of us pushing our bikes till the turn to the East, we rested here while myself and Bear headed off to look in on a nearby cache but with both of us getting the wrong idea and not wanting to hold up the whole group we headed back to the junction with not so much as a DNF as a DNL(Did Not Look) so it was 10.15 before we all got on our bikes and started up the trail.
This is when the static in my head started and everything rolled into a ball as we made our way up the side of the mountain enjoying the ride, the views and the caches. Having now done this trail three different ways I would say they all have there merits, driving had speed on its side, walking had the better views and the time to enjoy the sights and cycling is sort of the best of both worlds with us getting back down about 15.30. We are already planning at least two return trips to grab this cache or that.

Thanks to all the cachers who have hidden this fine trial, you have made for a great day out until next time.

We had been wanting to the Pipe Line Power Trail for a couple of years now but, for one reason or another, things had not come together nicely until today. Arrangements with smiley_bear and stainless-steel-rat (and Mrs Rat) were made and we met at the car park at Neika at around 0930 for our cycling adventure. The skies were overcast but it was still warm which made perfect weather.

The six of us had a fabulous day riding up to the weir (where we had out picnic lunch) and back, finding all the caches were looked for, thankfully no DNFs for us today. We returned to the car park around 1530 for a celebratory drink and the obligatory box of shapes.

Thank you to all the geocachers who have placed caches along this very scenic and somewhat historic track for us to find and enjoy. We are already discussing a return visit.

a quick find by Smiley here while we enjoyed the views. TFTC

A great day caching was had by our party of 6 (Goose and Egg, Mr & Mrs Rat and Smiley & Bear) with no DNFs. A bike ride up the pipeline track with perfect weather conditions. TFTC.

Travelling around Australia and spending a few months in Tasmania.

It was lunchtime before we set off with a plan to tackle some of the PTPT trail. Geobikes on the back we parked near Wallaby.

We arrived in the drizzling rain and decided to have our sandwiches before we set off. 12noon before we headed up the trail and in light drizzly rain. Over 4km we rode and bumped into about 7 muggles even though its a weekday.

We took lots of new logsheets but next to no new cache containers 'big mistake' but off we went for 5 hours before we returned to the geo cruiser.

The weather cleared and after 2 hours we actually saw some sun! Big Grin Most caches were easy finds especially with the hint but some took an age! [xx(]

A fun afternoon. Logsheet has been wet but is now okay.

Seeing this lead to the Dragon's Lair we picked these up on the way back as the Lair was the main objective but nice to have some many caches in between to help deal with the distance. A few wet logs and a few of the micro tubes are cracked from being under rocks etc. Would have thought the T rating on some would have been certainly more than 1.5 due to the distance. TFTC. Thanks for the series.

It was a huge walk for me to reach GZ after catching the bus to the Fern Tree tavern. Thanks for the cache and for showcasing this lovely track.

Our little group were heading for home after a successful mission to the Dragon's Lair. Seeing as the rest of the group had found most of the caches on the trail already dabom81 and myself took off ahead to see how many we could conquer. After searching for the cache for a while we finally had the beasty in hand. We signed the log and then replaced the cache as it had been found.

I'm a bit of a bird lover, I was so happy to spot a Green Rosella at another cache. I have not seen one of these before so it was very exciting!

Thanks for the cache Big Grin

Was still showing up as needing maintenance even though I'd maintained. With the recent log of still dry and good, I'll put in this log so that it doesn't show up as in need of TLC. Until it really does again!

I have replaced the cache with a new micro container and a replacement log. When I rode up the pipeline track I somehow missed my cache location and I hoped I would recognise it on the way back. It was closer to the start of the track than I'd remembered. The view is still the best!

Oop...I'd forgotten I'd disabled it! Thanks for the reminder, will get on to it.

Quick find on day 3 of Tassie Tour with Jyetara, quick find on a 13 km round trip up and down the trail.

12-Jan-13
Today was the third go at competing the PTPT series. All now found with the exception of one (PTPT Tiger Snake that currently has 8 consecutive "Didn't find it" log entries). We were in the area to visit Wellington Falls with Sue&Peter so it was very convenient to complete the PTPT series (almost).

The cache was quickly found and a good spot it is too. Thanks Dippedidooda.

31-Dec-12
Appreciated the not too difficult hide. TFTC Dippedidooda

The pipeline track series was started November 2011 and, apart from a quick search for a few at the start, we had not got stuck into them. The best way we reckoned was to take the bikes, which had not been ridden for about 2 years, so they were dusted off and away we went. Things did not go as planned because we could not find the first one, nor the next one previously unfound. But after that finding them didn't prove too hard, but on the return ride Peter discovered his front tyre rapidly went down. The repair kit was opened but all that remained in the glue tube was air. An attempt to replace the tube failed because Peter did not have the strength to unbolt the nuts with his small shifter. Rather than push the bike the 6 kilometres back he decided to ride the bike and put up with the consequences.

The tally for the day was 25; easily our most for one day. We enjoyed the pipeline series and will go back for the one at Wellington Falls and put in a new PTPT cache. And also to search for the one we overlooked including on the GPS and who knows there may be another one or two put in by then.

This is a big effort as the bananas approach the 500 mark and a reconnaisence job was required to determine which one would be the significant one.
The dragons lair.
So up the mountain we go to discover how hard it can be.
This was No 494 and an example of when size does matter. Well done Dippedidooda.
