Logs
Remember coming here as a child. Those memories are a lot less traumatic than trips to see the dentist as an adult. Log is in great condition, Tftc.
I used to work two doors down from this building, would admire it every day - shes a beauty! Took some photos of the required items during busy times, came by the final this morning with no one around. Quite difficult to get the lid off. Thanks boxhill#1173
Matagouri and I are enjoying a special weekend getaway in Wellington. Today was a much more pleasant day as far as the weather goes, so we enjoyed another day of caching and indulging in some delicious food and drinks! This is another older cache I'm glad to finally get around to picking up. The lid of the container put up a bit of a fight, but we got it open in the end. Thanks for setting this up
Very tough to open, tried to fix but no luck. Good hiding place, but not as horror themed as I expected. Tftc!
Have wandered past this building a few times and always admired its imposing facade. Funnily enough there was a short film called The Murder House our family was involved in back in the day. Loved the idea of obtaining info from a plaque (!) for dentist themed cache. Final found quickly while dodging muggles.
Thank you for the history lesson from northern Germany. After solving the coordinates, finding the cache was quite easy.Solving this multi was a nice task for our short stay in Wellington.
Greetings from Canberra, Australia! First find in Wellington 6 years after coming to this beautiful city but just to the airport and nowhere else. This was a short, gentle walk near where we are staying. It was a fun search around the place for the answers at WP1, awesome historical site. Quick find at GZ, I'm not sure whether this is currently hidden in the way it was intended but it's still safe nonetheless. TFTC!
I visited the Murder House a few weeks ago and took the answers home with me to work out the final coordinates. Today I was in the area of the final, so thought I would pick it up. Didnt take too long to find once Id arrived at the right area, but found the container very hard to open. As Id come straight from work, I didnt have quite the right tools on me, but managed to get there in the end using an improvised tinfoil tablet container as a lever.Hubby went to Te Aro School and so was a regular visitor to this particular murder house. Of course he has terrible memories of it, so I decided not to take a photo to show him Thanks boxhill for the multi and cache.
Oh my this brings back memories! 1985 and 6 I was a customer here. Remember the bus trip well from school. Tftc but not the memories!!!!
Interesting cache. This was my second attempt and now realise I didn't look carefully enough first time. Cache was buried. Replaced as found. Tftc
Was a fairly active building.
People are entering and exiting while trying to take pics.
Was fairly straightforward and had no problems with the puzzle.
Short walk to final.
The cache has lost its "stick" and was on the ground but in the correct place.
Had to return as such because it wouldn't stick.
Cheers.
Sleepy was here!

Solved in a multi-cache info gathering blitz a couple of weeks back. With a bit more time and sunshine on my side I was at GZ and had hands on the cache. Very glad the dentists these days are not deemed 'murder' houses, although the price of a visit has surely equalled the pain of yesteryear
I enjoyed finding the information about this cache topic, although my ‘murder house’ was the dental clinic at the school I attended in the Wairarapa. Nowadays it is a mobile van that visits schools once, or perhaps twice, a year.
I had looked for this cache about 2 weeks ago without any luck and as the seagnoid was in the car (we had tried the the the FTFs for GCA8Z1R) he said he’d be happy to be a second pair of eyes. He found this cache some years ago but couldn’t remember anything about it nor did he have the corrected coordinates. We hunted around the area that for the cache with no luck. I decided to PAF and get some extra help. After sharing my coordinates with her, I was told that one set was not correct. I did the maths again this time using the calculator and off we went to find the cache. Luckily the PAF still on the phone because at the second place we looked we still could not find the cache. So the calculator was put an action again. And yes I had made a mistake. A last I had the correct coordinates and once we were the the correct GZ it didn’t to take us long to find the cache. Next time I will use a different strategy when subtracting numbers in my head.
Kia ora rawa atu for the cache boxhill.

Early morning walk from our nearby hotel. Had difficulty opening it but managed it, signed, closed and returned. TFTC
Found last week but didn't have the chance to log! Thanks for the cache, was our first multi!
Thank you for the riddle. It was fun learning about the building. Found the cache slightly outside its hiding spot so rehid it as hint suggested. The box is a bit jammed, so took some gentle coaxing to open, but beyond that all in order. TFTC
I dont know what this 'murder house' was like but i have very strong horrible memories of the Auckland equivalent. 40 kids all arriving on a bus and sitting in wooden dental chairs and the slow foot pedal drills slaving a way and once one kid stated to cry ...that set off others Dreadful memories !! We looked at the wrong structure to start with before realising there was actually another close by . we search as suggested in the hint to no avail and we were about to give up when i put my cell phone on top of structure to wipe my hands and there it was just sitting exposed and opened on top of the structure ! it was dry and we were able to put it together and put it back as per hint . we took nothing and left nothing . thank you for this cache and the memories !!!!!!! a busy place !
Had some trouble getting the right co-ordinates but got there eventually after walking back and rechecking my answers. Third multi of the day!
Interesting and fast lunchtime multi took us to quite a lovely spot we didn't realise was there.... and surprisingly quiet! Streak day #73 TFTC Boxhill
Thoroughly enjoyed the history lesson of the site, a building i've never given attention to although have passed it many times!
A quick find as cache was lying on the ground and visible at gz - strange. It was easy to get into log by using a small tool. Things were a little damp, tipped some water out of container. Now all tucked it away out of sight. TFTC

A revisit to formally log after originally finding it with x_oliver_x. Great multi! TFTC
Took a few passes at the GZ to find this one due to muggles in the area each time. TFTC
A nice quick find thanks. A nice old building, quickly gathered the info and got useful coordinates. The time that I started this nulti I waited for what seemed to be half an hour for 2 residents? to stop talking on the steps. I had to leave them to it!
Ms_KR and I are off on a wee tour of the North Island. We of course had to get there first, and today we cruised around Blenheim and then off to catch the ferry tomorrow., The weather was fine and sunny, until we hit Picton, and now it is raining. We're still having a lovely time.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

After some really bad math(having done a really quick and incorrectinfo grab) and ending up miles outside the zone.
We re attempted on after giving up on one of our we do bits and pieces of it caches.
I was significantly over dressed for the weather that we had in the city, I was fogged in at home when I left LOL

2nd one down on the first day back at geocaching! Interesting building with and interesting history that I’ve passed a million times but never gave a second glance! Fun and quick cache.
What a beautiful, quite elegant Art Deco style building, an imposing entrance way with a lovely lamp over the door. I'm a big fan of Art Deco. This is an area of Wellington that Talla64 and I have not been to on foot before (well, it was the bus actually) and we enjoyed checking out the area. Some good co-ords were quickly worked out (a bit tricky in a blustery Wellington wind) and then it was off to GZ. A quick find, then off for coffee in a nearby cafe. Thanks for drawing our attention to this interesting building boxhill, and also for bringing us to an area quite new to us.
What a lovely building and an interesting past. Completed this multi with Flowerydaze on a rather dreary day but was brightened up by this multi. We have never been around this area of Wellington before so we were taken by the architecture both of this building and the the houses close by. Soon worked out the coords and was quickly on the trail of the cache which was found and signed. Thanks for the interesting multi boxhill.
Not long ago, I noticed I had very few multi caches in the Wellington region left to find. I thought I may as well have a go at trying to clearing up those remaining. I don't understand how this one had escaped my attention until recently but I decided to take the train into Wellington today to see if I could find it. Walking down Lambton Quay with so few people around reminded me of the days soon after lockdown. I just hope we are now in a period that will be known as "post-lockdown" than "between lockdowns".
I had no idea this place existed and I can understand patients being intimidated by its exterior. I took my time with the questions and produced great looking coordinates on the firsattempt, which is most unlike me. I then made my the final site where I made a pretty much instant find. All is good with the container and its contents. Thanks, boxhill.

Quickly found, good multi to start our day while camping in the apartments forChristmas, tftc
Found while son attends drumming lessons nearby. I gathered the necessary numbers last Saturday but I ran out of time to solve the final location. I returned today to find a cute fundraiser event happening nearby at the Aro Community centre. Christmas season is well and truly here, there was a water slide, gift stalls, Christmas trees for sale and Santa on stilts(!). I wandered through towards GZ and waited for my GPS to calm down. I ended up having to switch to the c:geo app as the official app kept locking up when trying to hone in on my saved waypoint. No muggles about and this area is quite secluded I managed to get my hands on the cache quickly and signed the log. TFTC
Great cache. Nice one to do on a nice evening wander thru town, take some photos and a stop in at Garage Project to work out the co-ordinates of course.
#1283. Day #6 of my planned 10 day multi streak took me back to Wellington.
Having had a notification of a new Boxhill cache in the hills not far home started a day full of frustration and triumph. Walked from the wind turbine as far as the multi en route to the new cache, but ran out of time and puff. So both caches will have to wait for another day, although I gathered the data for the Welly Climbs multi.
But I still needed a multi for my streak today. This cache was obvious. I had recorded some numbers a few years ago, but they seemed wrong.
So, 6 down, 4 to go in my planned 10 day multi streak, which so far has taken me to the city, Miramar, Ngauranga Gorge, Silverstream, Porirua and back again. I am getting about!
My initial search proved fruitless, so I contacted the CO to get confirmation of my GZ calculation. Spot on, but my phone GPS put me a few metres out. Went back in the early evening, found the cache just where described. But others have said, it is hard to open - a pair of tweezers poked in the bottom end did the trick.
Tftc boxhill.

When I was in Wellington a while ago I actually parked right outside WP1 without even noticing there was info to collect here. A few days ago I was in Wellington again. I was on foot and it was raining and I remembered to stop and collect the info this time. But I didn't calculate the final being more interested in getting out of the rain. Today I was passing by and stopped reasonably close to GZ. The cache was found quickly enough but it took a while to open. TFTC.
First go at info gathered in a rush, no time to check. When I sat down to extract coords, I soon realised that I'd made a significant mistake. So back I went this afternoon, spotted mistake, calculated coordinates that I was a lot happier with. A nice quick find at GZ, but container really not keen to open. Finally managed without breaking the lid, but felt like it was close. Might need checking? Tftc!
This cache was the closest to our accomodation so it was a must do for us. No problems gathering the information and carrying out the required calculations. Once at gz the cache was located in the first place we looked.
Approx 45 minutes after first logging this one, we were looking out the window from our apartment across to the “murder house” and witnessed an altercation involving two men,a young woman tenant accessing her apartment, and a meat cleaver. Needless to say the police were quick to respond and arrested one man , questioned the other, and removed the meat cleaver from the “murder house”.

I have returned again to Wellington for further training for my new job. This time I am here for a full week - from Wednesday to Tuesday, including the weekend - which work is paying for as it is currently cheaper to pay for accommodation and a daily stipend then it is to pay for return airfares around the country for us all.
The 'Murder House" was very close to my hotel room, so I went out for a walk after we spent the day learning. When I left it was only drizzling but by the time I reached the posted coords the rain was coming down quite hard. Quickly took a photo before retreating for cover, with the intention of calculating the final once back at my hotel. After grabbing dinner and sitting down make the calculations I realised that I had missed some crucial information and had failed to make note that there was more than one plaque I needed.
So the following evening after training I made a detour past GZ again on my walk, this time getting all the information I needed to calculate the final coords. On my morning walk to grab coffee before starting the day I detoured to find the final, under the cover of darkness before the muggles ventured out. Nice to finally get this one signed off.

A rainy evening meant nobody cared to notice me reading and photographing the plaques. Then back to the car to identify the numbers and do the calculations. Then another walk through the rain to collect the cache, which I couldn't open in the rain so took that back to the car to dry off, open and sign. Now another walk through the rain to return. Fortunately the log is nice and dry. TFTC.
Second early morning cache and a nice Multi too. 'Murder House' is definitely a Kiwi phrase. Kiwimykl used it with me once and I hadn't got a clue what he was on about and asked for clarification. Ahh that makes sense. Headed here today and gathered all that was required and soon had a set of workable numbers. Quick stroll to G Z and cache was found and replaced as should be. T F T C boxhill and back to the apartment for breakfast
We're here from the Mainland for a weekend visit to windy Wellywood (it wasn't) and arrived on the ferry for a 48 hour whistle-stop tour. It's our youngest daughter's 18th birthday this week which means a trip away to do an escape room adventure, eat out and drink some micro-brewery drinks as well as catch up with another daughter who travelled down to hang out with us. We had digs on Cuba Street and no wheels so Snaks's Pony was the mode of transport and some good foot kms were gained.

Tried to complete this one last year but did something wrong. This time we took photos of the necessary info and worked out the final co-ords in comfort. Found the cache on the ground so tried to position where I guess it is supposed to be. A fav point for the history.
I had seen this one on the geo-map and decided to attempt to complete it after work today. Its amazing in that I have walked past this building on numerous occasions but never stopped to read the monumental stones/plates. So even though the place was really busy with muggle traffic I was able to work through the requirements and when I put my answer into the app it seemed to point me to a logical location. So I made my way on foot there and made a nice and quick find thanks to your hint. The log book has been signed and the cache is back in its hiding spot all ready for the next finder. So thank you boxhill for taking the time to nset up this cache. I really appreciate your efforts in doing so.
Unser erster Multi in Neuseeland, den wir glücklicherweise ohne große Komplikationen suchen und finden konnten. T4TC from Germany
I will be honest, I have avoided this one, despite it being the second closest hide to my regular WLG hotel, as I just dont really like multi's very much. They frustrate me.
On my last visit I decided to break the hoodoo and crack on with the nest of multi's down the other end of the Terrace, some of which I finished last time, others I hope to finish tomorrow.
ANyway, after DNF'ing the nearby trad I decided to have a look at this one, especially as all the scaffolding is down.
Easy answers, no issues, then a close walk to find a fresh log book, which I now see has been there for several months!!!
Favourite from me for being my kind of multi!

Checked up on things here. Although there is some work in progress. All the information required is readily obtainable. Replaced the missing container
All four plaques were present and correct today, just like the last time I visited.
The scaffolding made it hard to see the wall light but once I was standing on the pavement I could see it once I was at the right angle.
The Murder House is just what we called this place when the bus brought me here from Hataitai School in the 1960's [:0] Although, thankfully my teeth were pretty good and I used to walk away unscathed with a buzzy bee made of the little white cotton cylinders that they used to place between our teeth and our gums. However I've just remembered about the students that used to poke and prod at me first. Then an instructor would turn up and the student would start listing all the irregularities in my teeth. Luckily the Instructor would say no, no , no and I would be sent off with a clean sheet.
I did my sums and searched the final to no avail.
After messaging the CO I'm told that I was in the right place and he gave his permisiion for me to log the find. Thank you boxhill.

This is not possible to do at the moment. Entrance is under maintenance and one of the plaques has vanished.
Got up bright and early this morning for my only full day in Welly, so it was time to claim some caches. This one was closest to where I was staying, so it was first. One of the plaques was covered up by construction scaffolding, so I ended up crouching and ducking around on the front steps to catch a glimpse of the plaque. Luckily, no one was going in and out of the building to catch me acting weirdly. Anyhow, all the numbers were crunched and a short stroll ensured that the cache was in hand. TFTC!
One of the key plaques are located behind some scaffolding. Unable to access for the time being.
Was really pleased to finally complete this multi !
Thanks boxhill....this is extremely do able !
My second proper go at this ...The first time I didn't get all the information !
However my Son took us to this amazing bakery Le Moulin after the vege markets. ...and I quickly took a few more vital photos .Then in the afternoon I was able to the calculations .
CO confirmed I was correct .
Then I bussed down to town today get the final...first place I looked ...all nice and dry plus a sharpened pencil ! Thanks !

Had no trouble with the puzzle. Didn't find cache in first hurried lunchtime search. Returned today and quickly located about 8m away from where my GPS was pointing. Hint helped a lot! TFTC!
I tried this one a year or so when on a visit to Wellington and just couldn't find it. After the CO set me right as to which number was wrong I was quickly on the right track and there it was very safely tucked away.
Keeping the 2017 streak alive with Murder House. We go passed this building every Sunday on way to vege market so decided to do this Cache today. Bonus...2 for 1 coffee at Crafters & Co! Tftc
Our first day on the North Island. After a tour of the museum Te Papa we found some caches wandering around the city. TFTC from Slovakia.
After finally reading the description correctly i found it! Interesting location, nice puzzle, tftc.
Found on a Momentum Geo day out for Earth Cache day.
This was a fun one to do.
Found with JacqiB, Jaeh68, Bizzelfig, Peter Free 333 and Carol Free 333.

A follow up appointment for me because I DNF'd this one a couple of years back. The final GZ was a place I have driven past a few times over the years, and it was very interesting to see the area as a pedestrian for a change, so much so I carried on walking to explore even more.
a great multi, many thanks.
a great multi, many thanks.
I used to go there… thanks for the memory… I think! Not sure what abbreviation in hint refers to, possibly painted over? Rest good, and cache outside area being worked on. Thanks!
Solved WP1 tonight then headed off to what we think was GZ, if our co-ords were correct we couldn't actually look as currently the area is fenced off. Will keep watching to see how others get on.
Solved the puzzle but did not find the cache - could you please let us know the sum of correct numbers or add a final cache check? Thanks
A transcription error pointed me at a spot that was plausible but improbably dangerous so I needed a second visit to check my numbers. Final location is much safer Thanks for the cache
Got the final GZ yesterday lunch time. Back today for the log. Nice straight forward multi. TFTC
I decided to pop down to Wellington for the long weekend and actually spend time in the city for a change.
Got to GZ and soon had all the coords worked out, quickly made my way to the final and soon had it in hand.

This building actually has a bit to do with my existence. My mother did her dental nurse training here in the late 1960s and then met my father when she was the dental nurse at a primary school in Hastings and he was one of the teachers. Thanks for the enjoyable multi! Fav point awarded.
A nice multi to grab whilst visiting NZ from Australia. Not too far to go after the clues were solved. Tftc
Thanks boxhill for this well set up multi, and for the history lesson. A favourite for this one. I found it particularly interesting as my sister did her training here as a dental nurse many years ago, and I never realised where the building was. No problems at the final location, all quiet, signed the logbook, returned the cache, tied up my shoelaces and strolled off.
Had some time to kill before nearby event so quickly grabbed required details then off to find the cache. Have heard tales of woe and torture from the inlaws in regards to visits to the aforementioned establishment. Cache quickly found in first place i looked with spot on cords. Thanks for the multi and thanks for the cache.
1089 Collected information on Monday and back tonight to find and sign cache. When I have time when I am back in Hamilton I need to go to the dentist.
Found the info and jotted down everything we needed then went for dinner at a restaurant just up the street. worked out the final over dinner after correcting a couple of silly errors. Final was only 60 odd metres away. Grabbed before heading back to the hotel. TFTC
#861. Well I remember the fear of primary school children when a small kid arrived at the classroom door with a note in hand and the teacher calling out the name of the "victim" who had to go to the "murder house". Of course we all survived the visit. I headed up to the old dental nurses training building yesterday to extract the necessary data. But found 2 of the questions could not be answered on site. So had to phone home for assistance. Some numbers were found online by the rest of the team and off I headed on a long trudge up Brooklyn hill to find the hidden park. Well I circled the area and couldn't find how to get into this mystery park. Headed home and rechecked the numbers and did a bit more googling. What do you know, another number popped up different to the first. In it went to Google Maps and yes that makes a lot more sense and a lot closer too. So tonight I headed back to the proper GZ, searched two places and soon plucked the cache from its hiding spot. Signed the log and off to catch the train. A checksum would have been nice but at least I got lots of free exercise. TFTC boxhill
Obtained the necessary data yesterday, worked out the location this morning, then went out and made the find at lunch time. Surprisingly quiet spot considering where it is. All in excellent condition. TNLNSL. TFTC.
After having collected the information earlier in the day, processed it over tea, and then waited until later evening when I headed out to grab this cache. Nice easy find at GZ. Sadly, I was a victim of "the murder house" during my primary school years and well remember my fear of those trips in. None the less, a great Multi and worth a Favourite.
Found after attending the meet and greet event at Wellington railway station. Soon sorted. Tftc
