Straight off night shift and down to the GOR, caching in an area I haven't been to for quite a while.
A nice day for a few short walks with Bettyboo3747.
This is a beautiful spot! Very unexpected.
We sat down and scoffed some afternoon tea then started looking. I had the co-ords under the car, but BB found the cache.
Thanks, Robmc.

# 4028. Robmc and I left Melbourne early and we are heading to Apollo Bay today. We are caching along the journey of course.
This one gets a favourite point from me for the beauty of this spot. We pulled up near GZ and decided it was just the spot to enjoy some afternoon tea. The river and surrounds were very beautiful today. The hide led us a merry dance however and I thought we were going to leave with a DNF. Finally I put my paw on it. Yes, success!! Hide and log intact and in good condition. A sneaky little hide. TFTC and for bringing us here.

Like the others I think I found where it was. I'll send you a photo later to confirm it.
Very clever, thought we were not going to find it until geofriend spotted it. Very smart hide and feeling a bit soggy now. TFTC.
Found it after a bit of a search and as previous logs we where about to give up when the call of Got It rang out with the log signed the hide was replaced in his hidey hole for the next person TFTC
We read the previous logs and wondered what we were, oohing for or what we might find . . . Once again, our gps did its best to make us search in the wrong area, but in the end we ignored it and located what we think is the cache. As noted previously, there is currently no log, so we didn't actually sign it. We can send a photo of what we found if required. TFTC
Found the cache but the log space is empty
Anyway, must be a nice fishing spot ! TFTC !

Kid free camping along the Great Ocean road, & time for a quick cache in between photo opps. Loved this spot & wouldn't have found it had it not been for our need to cache hunt. A quick stop turned into a long one as we had to wait for a couple fisherman to pack up for the arvo. interesting spot.

In Apollo Bay this morning for Geodad to run the Great Ocean Road Half. Came to this cache, had a very good look around. There has been a huge amount of rain and we think part of the cache may have washed away. We have sent a photo of where we thought the log should be to the CO.
If we are correct, a huge amount of effort has gone into this cache and the camo and it will certainly receive a favourite from us.
We log awaiting approval.

Suscoe arrived here in the company of Bushfire on a glorious day in the Otways.
A bit of a look revealed something of interest so we had a discussion about how that went to heaven then settled into some further search and found the cache safely tucked away a little further along the way.
Clever bit of work here with the camo, well done boys.
Log signed and on our way.
Thanks for bringing us to the place.

Suscoe and the ageing Bushfire ventures down the coast today seeking to add a few similes to our map of this wonderful area.
This was the fourth find today and the well thought hide that had us wondering after finding something that might suggested that the cache could me gone.
I would remove the spoiler photograph placed by johnstons1 as that is something that should not happen but they are fairly new so just use your owners rights and ask them first to remove it and if that does not happen you remove it yourself.
I like to see some thought put into hides so a favourite from me. Thanks fab burkah boyz for placing this cache and persisting after it was muggled.

DNF 2 of 4 today (continuing yesterday's Williamstown streak of 8 DNFs)
1 hour searching in the rain - no cache found. Great spot, though.

This was a very enjoyable hunt, and gets a favorite point for a clever container and hide, and for a pleasant setting. TFTC.
Great hide......found after a bit of mucking around, for some reason our gpsr is giving funny readings down here.

Found on our before last day in Australia. We spent excellent two weeks in Tasmania and couple of days in Sydney. The Great ocean road at the end was good choice. Nice hide, I put it to my favorites. TFTC.
Great camo cache, and a nice location but no muggles this evening. Took a few minutes to find. TFTC.
Hi. I am Prof. Yves' small scientific assistant.
Now, I am travelling by myself, so I had to leave my team.
Thank you so much log the Cache as found.

It was the second try tonight. Last time, there were too many muggles around me and so I've to look tonight again and found this cache very very fast. But I've to say that it's a nice hideout, very creative!

Washed away due to recent flooding. Will be repaired and reactivated soon. TFBB
had searched the area for about 20 minutes today with no luck. The area certainly looks like it has been submerged at some point. The area is covered with mud and debris from a flood. I think this cache need to be checked just to confirm whether its still there or not.
Nevertheless, I will return with more sets of eyes.

Arrived at the dock and managed to cross of a life achievement of:
"Seeing a platypus in the wild". Has taken me 47 years to achieve this and couldn't believe my luck to see a platypus floating on the water.
Rushed the kids out the car to see it and grab the camera too. Managed to get one nice photo, before it ducked down. Saw it resurface a few times and then a second one, but they ended up heading down stream.
Spent 10 minutes looking for the cache when we could no longer see them, but after not finding it and then checking the terrain rating decided we would not be finding it anyway as I didn't want to get down and dirty.
We came back a few hours later in the hope of seeing the platypus again as Sandy had stayed in the holiday unit to do a couple of hours of study. We stayed for an hour fishing and surprisingly I caught my first fish in many, many years, just using a simple handline and bread. It was a 40cm mullet but as we didn't have scalers or a filleting knife (we don't expect to catch fish) we threw him back.
So in the end, although we found no cache (and perhaps there was no cache to be found) we had a great time at this spot, which we wouldn't have come to unless we were geocachers.
Will be a few years before we are back in Apollo Bay (it's been 17 years since our last visit), but when we do return we will be sure to come here, in the hope of seeing a platypus, reliving old memories and maybe finding a cache.
Cheers and Thanks

Can we blame the rain. Were expecting to find something clever but instead found we were out clevered. No luck today.
This was find two of two during a weekend away with the inlaws. My wife and mother in law went on a nice afternoon stroll to a very scenic area away from the main drag - and after some time searching around discovered a very clever hide. We were all very impressed with the cache container. The log book is getting a bit full. TFTC.
A case of second time lucky.
The GPS consistently took us to one side. We tried this morning with no success. After some consultation we returned this afternoon and very carefully and slowly performed an eye ball search. Still no luck.
Widened our search to the other side and resorted to touching anything that moved or did not move.
Struck lucky finally.
A well crafted cache which blends into the surroundings well. We do not fully understand the hint but after finding the cache and some careful consideration we think we see a link.
Thanks Jacqueline and Peter #7227

We walked here from down in town. What a lovely spot. We had to wait for some kayaking muggles to pass on their way then we had a good search for the cleverly disguised cache. Thanks for bringing us here, and for the cache.
Too good for us! Constant stream of muggles (kayak and fishing) slowed us down, but we didn't get it. Lovely spot. thanks.
Took time to enjoy the area after finding this clever container. Nicely done!! TFTC
at third attempt. First some muggles for sunbathing at spot, second some Fisherman. Third time early in the morning quick log. Well prepared cache container. TFTC

We haven't had a lot of luck this morning but we managed to locate this one, Thankx for the cache
My leap day caching is not going to plan. Couldn't find this one. Clue was no help and probably made me think it was more difficult than it actually is. Ate my sandwiches on the seat and enjoyed the spot. Back to try again next visit.
Spent the weekend visiting friends at Apollo Bay. After leaving my friends house Dianne, Jeanette and myself stopped off at this cache.
After a bit of searching found the cache. It is now sitting on the ground, not sure where it was originally located. It was a great hide.

Found at 0855 in the company of Roostaman during a stopover on our Great Ocean Road trip. Nicely camouflaged.

Original mount for micro appears to have become dislodged. Have placed as close to this as possble. (nice and safe) TFTC
Nice spot on the river. Could sit here for hours. Tricky find as the original location appears to require a little TLC. TFTC.
Could not find it on first attempt. With a little help we found it on the second attempt. Good hide. Thank you.
Took a little bit of searching to find this one, just as we were leaving a guy pulls up and throws berly in the water and then drives off, I guess he will be back later to do some fishing. Thanks the fab burkah boyz for the cache.
A FTF for the Pouble Dumpers. Sorry "carryflag"
Yes co-ords were a little way off, but we decided to search where we thought it might be and "hey presto" there it was.
A very nice hide.

It could have been the FTF if there wasn't sitting a fishing family from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. right there. As they left they waved to me as we saw us the third time during this afternoon. The container was (again - see log for GC3AMTH) very well prepared - fantastic work! Someone logged before me - congrats. Propably they were here before the fishing hunt started. At least for me the coordinates are (several times) 38 m off the real cache and I guessed according to the caches name where to search thoroughly. Many thanks from Berlin!

One of the few guidelines that's not framed as a suggestion is:
"You as the owner of the cache must visit the site and obtain the coordinates with a GPS."
Obtaining your coords from onlline (or paper) maps is prone to unacceptable error and is not sufficient.
If you don't own a GPS receiver, maybe a local cacher could help you out.
And, although they're improving, the GPS accuracy of most smartphones leaves a lot to be desired as well. They're generally designed to get you close enough to a street destination to find the house number, etc. by old-fashioned eyeballing!
Please re-enable this when you've visited the site and got some accurate coordinates with a good quality GPSr.
