Isis58 and I are on our way from Masterton to Dannevirke today in the hope of picking up as many 52 on 52 and Viking caches as possible. I apologise for the cut and paste logs, I was doing the driving and didnt have much time to make any notes at each stop. Thanks for the cache Skindo

I have had this trail along route 52 on my wish list since they were first published over 11 years ago - can't believe its been that long. Heading from Masterton in pursuit of some Vikings today so delighted to be able to sign some of these off on the way. TFTC # 19,912
A seagnoid gem tumbled from the container on finding, not a real sapphire - sorry for the spoiler!
It's International Earthcaching weekend and I am 'bach' so have a free rein on what's optional, ding dong. I have had a plan for a while to knock off my remaining 52 on SH52 caches and that seemed viable, via Castlepoint for an EC. However, just South of Pongaroa the road is missing, so a new route home was needed and Rimu Road came up trumps. Quite a few skindo caches were found, and much enjoyment was had, cheers all COs. Almost 70 finds for the day, Ad Labs included, so all was good.

I wasn't planning to cache today, with too many other things to do. However, with it being Geocaching Day with a world record attempt in the offering I had to at least grab one. Fortunately this cache wasn't too far from home and was a quick P&G. Cache it great condition, especially considering its age and the recent wet weather. TNLNSL TFTC
Day 2 Cache 2 today, but 45 all up for my mad mission to the Wairarapa for the 100-10-7 Challenge. Ethness has offered to drive again today. A big skindo day planned – a first for me.
Nice to see sunshine and green landscape after yesterdays rain. A early wake up with long wet grass to travel through. TFTC.

Straightforward find, all in good order.
I'm taking 4 days to e-bike from Masterton to Palmerston North and back. Eased into it with 46k and 2 caches today.

Took a trip down to the Wairarapa to catch up with family for a long weekend and get a few caches while in the area,
Weather was yuk and log a bit damp but signible,
Thanks skindo for the cache

I thought it was time I did another clean up of the Northern Wairarapa area, particularly the 52 on 52 series and others nearby. I did many of the 52 on 52 caches before the series was created and their names changed to match - but that is all old history, about 9 or 10 years ago. Since a lot of caches have been archived in recent years, but many are still there and in good condition, I decided to try to find a few that looked likely to still be there - particulalry skindo caches where I had already solved the puzzle. The end result was a 12 hour round trip from Wellington, with 87 finds (of which 17 were archived caches).

Working in Masterton for a week. Headed out in the evening to collect a series of caches along this road. Surprised how well some of the caches have done despite being many years old. Thanks Skindo for all the effort.
With Gap (of Fap and Gap)...
We have been planning for Queen's Birthday weekend for some time - routes and caches were identified and mapped, and Gap solved a whole lot of puzzles in readiness for this adventure. We scoured many online logs and took note of the condition of the caches and their logbooks. We determined to replace any containers and logbooks where there was a dire need - This is not usually our habit and is quite time consuming; but we are enthusiastic cachers and believe in doing our bit for the wider caching community...
When nightfall arrives in winter, it comes quickly. By the time we pulled into Masterton, it was dark and rain was falling. We had no trouble finding our accommodation on the outskirts of town. Masterton seems to be quite a compact little town in the car headlights... After dinner, thoughts turned to continued caching... We were able to park alongside for this one. A quick find and a pleasing addition to the 52/52 series. Thanks Skindo and TFTC.

Day 2 of our Road Trip
Early start today, weather fine but very cold.
Heading south we detoured up side roads, some sealed some gravel.
Caches like yesterday that needed log sheets replacing as they were so wet we couldn't sign them. Just as well we bought new log sheets and bags with us.
The huge numbers of caches in this area we know that we will have to return on another trip.
Always great to visit new areas. Thanks for the cache placements. SLTFTC

Today was a numbers run over to the Wairarapa to mainly boost my finds for May, as they've been sorely lacking. I had a couple of missions I wanted to achieve - finding the remaining 250 finds in a month caches (even the ones I haven't yet qualified for), and to attempt to get Skindo's 1000th. I also wanted to visit some locations in the Wairarapa that I've never been to before (even before geocaching). In 12 hours I managed to find 53 caches, including 25 traditionals, 24 puzzles and 2 multis. I also signed 5 challenges, pending future qualification.
It took me a couple of moments to locate the cache, it wasn't right in the usual spot for these types of locations, and I ended up kicking it with my foot. Ah, there it is. Signed and replaced back in the nook. All good here. TFTC

We are on another road trip and this time its from home to Masterton and return taking in a lot of the back roads around the area on the way back as we had more time to spare after attending the CITO at Henley lake in Masterton. our first adventure off the main road was east of Masterton and we found it very interesting as we planned to go through Mauriceville then head back to Ekatahuna. the road was good and wide for the campervan but in most places we couldn't pull off much but as the traffic was very light it wasn't a problem.
Nice and easy cache for and nice and breezy morning. I am out to get a few more geocaches to get closer to the world turtle hidden creature and grabbed this one while out and about
Quick find on run with Infoferret, filling in gaps for 1 or other of us. Thanks skindo
Cache number 32 of 56 (find number 30 of 50 for me) on a road trip from Palmerston North to Masterton (via Pongaroa and SH52) with some like-minded individuals collectively know as Geocachers!
We ascended into the clouds at the top of the Pahiatua Track, and then it was clear for the rest of the trip until we returned back over the Track where the fog at the top gave less than 20m visibility
Quick find here by Haydn.Seek, although she didn't see the uneven ground and ended up on her rear end with wet shoes
Log signed as "Team PHETT" (PJMacNZ, haydn.seek, Etherlord, TwigNZ, and ThatWeirdGuy04)

Today my son (ThatWeirdGuy04) and I were lucky enough to be invited to tag along with PJMacNZ, Haydn.Seek and Etherlord Clan on a day trip around the Wairarapa.
We knew it was going to be a long day, but we were hopeful that we would get to find quite a few caches along the way, especially of the Mystery variety which we decided to concentrate mainly on getting.
The weather was kind to us, meaning we were able to spend time out of the car finding the caches and making running repairs to quite a few of them, mainly due to waterlogged log sheets and damaged plastic bags. Anyone finding these caches next in a good condition have EC and HS to thank for providing the requisite items.
My apologies for the generic log entry here, but the volume of caches found today makes it the best way to get everything done. With a small few exceptions, most of the caches were a relatively straightforward find, and in every case the logsheet was signed as Team PHETT for all 5 of us before the cache was replaced exactly where found.
Thank you for placing this cache, and giving us the excuse to have a grand day out.

We took flight on the Planetary Pursuit today, off to the Wairarapa. We had this trip already in the pipeline so now was a good time to do it - first down to Masterton and out on the Te Ore Ore Road, up through Bideford to Route 52 and looping back down to Masterton again.
The weather was perfect and we got some glorious views. A childhood friend of Mrs G's had come from Bideford and about 55 years later geocaching finally took her to see the area.
We aimed for 26 caches and got them all, we replaced a couple of lost caches and a few wet logs with waterproof paper. All in all it was a successful journey and a good help along the way in our pursuit of the planets.
This was our second stop today. We thoroughly searched the only hint object available here and confirmed the cache missing. We had come prepared for this possibility and so put in a replacement. All should be good to go now. TFTC

After looking everywhere possible around the hint object I tried a different spot and smashed my head on a metal sign. Hopefully I'll do better next time!
Quick find at GZ. All good at GZ

Did you know that planning has started for a Mega Event in Wellington in 2018? Check out the details on the [Wellington Event NZ (WENZ) Website](https://sites.google.com/site/wenzgeo2018/home) or visit the event's page on [FaceBook](https://www.facebook.com/groups/590545297801072/).
Thanks to the Cache Owner who has gone to the trouble of creating this cache, determining the coordinates and then averaging them to make sure they are accurate, placing the cache and registering it online for our enjoyment. Without Cache Owners doing their bit, there wouldn't be a fun hobby that we all love - so again a big THANK YOU. For our bit, all we need to do is find and log the cache that was carefully placed for our personal enjoyment. As we log it we should consider that the Cache Owner also needs to maintain it - when the log sheet fills up, they must replace it. When the container becomes full of water, they need to empty it. When the container is broken, they need to repair it. When it goes missing they need to find or replace it. Well..... the great news is we can do our bit too - make sure your log doesn't take an entire page - just a name and date. If full of water, empty and dry the cache as best as possible. Be careful when handling the cache and make sure you replace it where you found it. If it has a bag, seal it. Just remember - the Cache Owner showed respect to you by placing the cache - please respect them and fellow cachers that follow you by being careful with the cache. And if you have a spare log sheet and the cache you are at needs one, please leave it behind. Finally, if the cache does need maintenance, please let the Cache Owner know - you can log a Maintenance Log or you can drop a line to the Cache Owner. Above all - have fun and remember the Geocaching Code.

Off for a trip to Masterton from Hastings with our main aim being the the 52 on 52. In the end it took us a little over 8 hours with only two of the series that we didnt find, and picking up na few off the trail as we went. Although most were in good condition there were some that were wet and some that were just mushy logs impossible to write on. TFTC
Driving from Hastings to Masterton today. Route 52 seemed to be well signposted - find next closest!
A continuation of trip with Sunju seeing the country side of the Wairarapa, metal roads old farm houses etc, magic. tftc
Took CNAH to the Wairarapa to work on the Skindo 2 from 2 Series. A lovely day. A lot of driving to get the odd one here and there. Enjoyed the roads. Managed to get enough to make 100 finds for September so were happy. Not a Skindo 2 from 2 cache but this was en route so took the quick grab.
Last find while driving part of the 52 series today. Thanks skindo for your placements, we really enjoyed travelling through such lovely countryside and we found the sunshine we were looking for too. A quick find, contents all good.
#2635. I have been planning on another big day over in the Wairarapa for quite a while. But a series of wet weekends put paid to that idea. But today dawned bright and sunny. So at last a chance to pick up a few solved puzzles and challenge caches, as well as a scattering of traditionals. Headed over early in the day. Parked nearby on Caves Rd and soon found the cache in the first place checked. Signed the logbook and replaced the cache as found. Thanks for hiding it here.
Tftc. It's guarded badly by a herd of scaredy cows who ran away as I approached the fence.
Found with LCBuilder while staying in the Wairarapa for a couple of nights. TFTC
Found it with Team FIN [janahola, kapeka, laalaa & temyllyl]
We had fun with caching few weeks here in New Zealand. Lots of geocaches and many sort of them too. We saw awesome places, weather was pretty good all the time and people were friendly and polite. Caches were pretty similar like in our home country. Of course there were some exeptions. Nice and really scenary country!
Greetings from Finland

On a geoholiday road tripping to Christchurch MEGA and around beautiful New Zealand. Our four people group (temyllyl, laalaa, kapeka and myself) from Finland used group tag FIN to log the caches.

14th day on our geo-roadtrip in New Zealand, and caching our way towards north. Logged using our group nickname FIN with janahola, laalaa and kapeka. After having a blast in South Island and in Christchurch Mega event, we had to start heading back home. Fortunately we still had few days left to spend in NZ while driving to Auckland.
3rd of the day. Today's goal was to find puzzle caches but also do others as well. Easily found. I have done 52 on 52s in Waipuk and now near Masterton! TFTC.

SpudNZ, Hunterhillson, AtomsNZ and Tommygun9 (me) (we logged ourselves as "TEAM SHATner" to save space and time) decided to set off for a caching mission to gather a heap of caches in the Wairarapa on a Wednesday. Noting that the weather was going to be good we set off from Palmy a little after 0600 and grabbed a few caches in the dark and morning light before (having a pie and) setting off south down Route 52. We had a couple of zig and/or zags south and got to Masterton in the dark of the moonless evening. Two of our party broke through the 1000 cache mark while I managed a day of 125 finds. We got back to Palmy very late cold, tired and hungry and know that, despite the uncharacteristically fine weather, summer is definitely the better time of year for long caching missions. Thanks to the local hiders for all their caches.

Logged as team SHATner - (SpudNZ, Hunterhillson, AtomsNZ, Tommygun9) Spent the day caching out in and around the Mighty Manawatu, the Wild Wairapapa and the Bay of Hawkes, in the hope of clocking up +100 caches. As well as seeing some of the best scenic views rural NZ has to offer, we also came across a few stray sheep, a couple of rabbits, Farmer Joe, the Ram gang, some shifty goats, Farmer Dave, a pie, a cop, Farmer Ned and Farmer Ted, diggers, mud, rain, sun, fog, Farmer Jane and her trusty farm dog.. And even a few caches!

After hearing that Tommygun9, SpudNZ and Hunterhillson were planning a mission to Skindoland to knock off some caches out there I decided that I couldn't possibly be left behind to go to work for the day while they had all the fun -so I offered my expertise in solving Skindo puzzles in exchange for a seat in the vehicle. Turns out I only ended up having to solve a couple but gained a seat anyway.
Starting out well before the crack of dawn, my hope for the day was to crack 1,000 caches and under the cover of darkness I found my 1,000th cache at around 8.30pm. After coming across a major accident on state highway 2 our route home was greatly expanded and it was close to 11pm before we finally made it back to civilization and a well deserved dinner.

In the wee hours of 20 May 15, Tommygun9, Atomsnz, Hunterhillson and myself formed an elite squad for a daring raid into Skindo land. Our codename; Team SHAT-ner.
We would be operating deep behind enemy lines, often out of contact range from Hotel Quebec, limited supplies and no chance of rescue, should we need one. We were horrendously out numbered. I’ve heard rumours that it was close to 300 to one.
Our mission; covertly kill off as many insurgents as we could and return home alive. We had all set personal goals for the mission; mine was to crack the 120 mark. Although, I had recently learnt that another member of our squad from yesteryear had a tally of 133. Perhaps I need to re-evaluate my goal.
Our insertion point was the North entry to Route 52, where we soon realised that the insurgents were coming thick and fast. We had to fight for every inch down that road. After 10 hrs of battling insurgents at every turn, we eventually reached our Southern most point, the insurgent stronghold of Masterton. It was the “home straight” from here. We blasted our way North as fast we could. Sporadically shooting insurgents from our windows as we went. The road was blocked near Mount Bruce so we had to make a detour back towards Masterton and take some of the back roads. I hope this wasn’t a trap. We eventually made it back over the hill to safety. I don’t think we were followed.
We did notice a few spotters located down the back roads that we didn’t clear. No doubt, they’ll relay any information back to their Supreme Leader and we’ll see reinforcements taking up defensive positions around the country side on the satellite imagery we receive.
Weeks of prior planning and INTEL gathering meant a smooth and successful mission was carried out. Against the odds, we returned home well after dark, safe and sound after a hard days work.
Some numbers for the mission:
620 km’s covered,
16.5 hrs of driving,
132 insurgents killed; of which 118 blindly follow Supreme Leader Skindo.
116 were killed on site
16 were questioned before being put in front of the firing squad.
7 evaded us.
For acts of bravery above and beyond the call of duty. In which I successfully carried out a raid into enemy territory and killed 120 hostiles or more, I am awarded the Ruby Badge. I also received various other badge upgrades as well.
Spotted no caves today. The sun had well set by this stage. Another quick find here. Signed as Team SHAT-ner

Found while on a 24 hour caching adventure with Skaga through parts of the Wairarapa - finished the 24 hours and are now making our way homewards. A quick find although we did have to back the wee geocar up a bit as the GPS was struggling to keep up with us again. Wouldn't mind coming back and seeing if I can find the caves.
#1389 Found during a 24 hour caching raid in the Wairarapa with Nic-jay- seeing how many we could find in 24 hours- 146 finds for me! Woop woop! The 24 hours is up so we're just picking up a few on the journey home. TFTC! Starting to lose steam at this point- what a mission!
Parked on the road and scampered over for a quick find. Luckily the roads are quiet this afternoon.

Another caching foray in the Wairarapa.
Happy to be making a quick and easy on this one.
Cache in order, log signed; cache safely re-hidden.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too
The Turtle strikes again!

A plan was hatched for another extreme, fly down, drive back caching weekend. funkymunkyzone, alpenmilch80 and myself flew down to Wellington on the first flight Saturday morning. We met up with vista at Petone in the Toyota Yaris rental car, as he'd flown down the previous day. We headed straight out of town and made a beeline for the start of our route at Featherston. We zig zagged our way through Wairarapa, Manawatu, Wanganui and Taranaki on our way back home to Auckland. To save time and log space, we stamped the logs as "Team AMFV".
Our 1500km / 40 hour drive consisted mainly of narrow gravel roads, some of which had spectacular scenery and views. Sorry for the copy/paste logs as its now all abit of a blur having only a few short naps in between. Many thanks to all the cache owners who have placed caches for us to find on another epic little adventure. TFTC!

mike-miss, funkymunkyzone, vistra and I met early Saturday morning for a two-day-geocaching-trip and once we collected the smallest relocation car available (a green camouflaged Yaris) we were on our way. funkymunkyzone already descripted the route we took in detail and I am still very impressed how he managed mostly the driving without getting lost a single time. Clearly he has his own Topo map in his head . This was a great team effort and I enjoyed the groups spirits and its laughs along the way till the sleep finally got me after the last cache in Taranaki.
In total I collected with the "Team AMFV" 278 smiles along the way and the word "brace" is no longer foreign to me. I would like to give a big thanks to Skindo and all the other cache owners for all the placements along our tour and hope I don’t annoy too much with the copy and paste logs. TFTC

Another fly-down-drive-back-caching weekend, this time in the company of mike-miss, alpenmilch80 and vistra. Three of us flew down very early on Saturday morning and met up with the other who had flown down the previous day. We headed straight out of Wellington, stopping just once to rendezvous with the other member of the team. We cached our way through the Wairarapa, Manawatu, Wanganui and Taranaki under the moniker "Team AMFV" (google it if you're interested, but it seemed appropriate for our mission).
We headed over the Rimutakas and started off with a loop of Lake Ferry before heading north and out into the back blocks.By the evening we were up around Masterton and heading back out into the sticks, criss-crossing Route 52 picking up cache finds along crazy little roads, the craziest of which were around Pongaroa, from where we headed back down and across to SH2 just north of Eketahuna, coming over the insane hills at Pori just after dawn. Spectacular.
We all piled into our little Toyota Yaris rental car, which had probably never seen such terrain before in its life, judging by the amount of clanging of metal on stones, and scraping of underbody on metal road centre. All part of the fun though, and nothing like taking 40.5 hours (with basically no sleep), over 1500km, to get from Wellington to Auckland, stopping at 288 caches along the way - 173 on Saturday and 115 on Sunday. I enjoy driving long distances, so I drove for about the first 25 hours plus a few more hours later on Sunday - also because I had designed the route so I knew fairly well the way we were going, and this time we made no mistakes!
Sorry for the largely copy/paste logs, but it's hard work remembering all the different caches. Some stood out from the others but we enjoyed every single one of them and were thankful for every single placement along the way. This trip, and the company, was fantastic and a fun but shatteringly tiring weekend.

A day caching with the Seagnoid and Bright_Jun after Pongaroa Picnic Event at Four Mile Bush Reserve in Skindoland. Quick find. Thanks for the cache.
[Green] Popmac rings me up, wanting to do a raid on Skindoland. We bring in super-new cacher Bright_Jun and sneak in under the cover of darkness. We left Palmy at 6am, attacked the natives of Skindoland with a relentless assault lasting 15 hours (including an hour off for tea and crumpets at the Pongaroa Picnic Event), travelling over 450km. We even had spare petrol in the boot, because there were no shops where we went. We defeated over 90 of the little blighters, not even a decimation. I bet the lords of Skindoland won't even notice.
Reminds me of one of my other hobbies - caving. There are caves here? No, probably just someone named Cave.
