Logs
1646# Out on a walk from Bamford to Edale on a clear but showery day. No problems here and the cache was soon in hand. SL TFTC.
Day two of three in the Dark Peak area as one of a team of eight trainers supervising for D of E Gold Award candidates on their practice expedition. The plan was for pairs of trainers to be at suitable locations to check the various groups progress during the course of the day.
Hopefully a better day than yesterday with the promise of sunshine and a dry day but one feature still remaining was the wind. Task for today was to park up on the A57 and walk in on the Pennine Way and meet up with two groups heading from Crowden via Bleaklow Head to Hagg Farm
The wind was so strong we found ourselves having to lean at an angle into it in order to walk straight line so welcomes the peat gullies an mounds when they presented themselves. Took the opportunity to grab Hearn Stones whilst passing. My long suffering co-trainer went straight up to Hearn Stone and found a sheltered spot for a coffee whilst I sought out the cache GC1Z30B
Once found we continued onto Bleaklow Head where it was another straight forward find for GC13YXR. Our only wish was that finding a sheltered spot whilst we awaiting the groups approaching along Near Black Clough was as easy but sadly not so we ended up taking it in turns to act as look our and for the best part of an hour froze our bits off.
Once both the groups had gone through we retraced our steps back to the minibus and sought sanctuary around the open fire at the Snake Inn before continuing down to Hagg Farm to wait the groups.
By chance I happened to switch on my GPS to find Masked Mast Series: Hagg Side GC3B0AW was less than 200m away so quick walk to GZ checking the bridleway first to see if the groups were approaching before quick straight forward find.
Once the groups were settled in we headed back to Crowden for a well earned cup of tea only to find our peace shattered by 18 female Gold Award candidates but more on that on the day 3 logs

Another world trip visiting from Canberra, Australia and a stopover in England before we head off to the the rest of Europe.
heading out of town to the airport and decide a short detour to get at least one more before leaving England

I found the original cache, a small square tub with original Iceburg log in it, not the replacement that was placed on 29/12/13. The last person to sign the official log was Bakers Boy on 21/4/13.

I thought the original would still be there, hence why it was never maintained! Good to see it lives on.
Out for a days caching with D'Ennephe looking for a few odd caches to complete our year/months found calendar. To save space all logs signed as OM-DNF. We parked in the car park on the Snakes Pass Road and made the short walk up the lane to make a quick find. SL TFTC
Out with Don (only misplaced) to get some caches to fill holes in his grid (plus a few extras on the way)
Found with judicious use of my super bright torch

As previously discussed, I came out with patdhill, Jurassic Parkinsons, beavers clan, Fitzydan and Lazeedaydream for a bit of caching in the Peak District, we met at the parking co ords & set off, this being the first one we searched high & low but no joy, dan found something that we thought could have been the cache but no more, i had a film pot in my bag so we replaced it, hopefully this will save greg a trip out, sl, tftc.
