as others had found this after archiving we decided to take a look and see. We looked as per the hint and there it was. No hope of signing the soggy mess so I just took a photo. It it was cleaned and dried with a new log sheet it would be good to go. We didn't have the 'tools' to make this happen. TFTC anyway
Somewhat intrigued, did a little googling to find that this was the last case of gibbeting in the British colonies - amazing.! Easily located with the aid of the hint, cache is muddied and in poor condition with log saturated. A couple of local and vocal dogs were witness to my locating the cache, so despite not signing the log, I'm claiming the find.. thanks..!!
Out for an evening drive in search for some archived caches. Quickly found this cache in its hiding spot. Multiple logs inside, but all were very soggy, including the most recent one left by a traveling cacher. I did manage to sign one of the logs though. Interesting bit of history about th area that I didn't know until I read he caches description.

Found the cache easily. . Oh boy was it very wet and smelly. Signed a piece of our own notepaper and placed in the cache. TFTC.
It was time to head for Hobart with the munchkins, with a few cache stops along the way to break up the drive We pulled up here and it didn't take long until the cache was in hand. I signed the log and then replaced the cache as it had been found. I'm glad gibbeting isn't in fashion anymore
Thanks for the cache bubbles1971

There are a bunch of sodden log books in this cache that have turned slimy. Not only this the cache itself, on the inside, is turning a bit slimy. This one needs a little TLC i think.
Final find for the night, and for Perth as a whole.
Easy find, park and grab.
Cache is quite slimy and wet.
I'm also wondering, is the 25 sign the speed limit, or how many metres the cache is from the coordinates?
May need a check.
Other than that, all is there.
Signed log, re-applied the seemingly ineffective cache raincoat, and replaced.
TFTC!

On a cold, frosty morning we are out for drive so we stopped by and signed the log and swapped an item. The log is wet, tftc.
Nice easy find! Took elephant and left girl key ring. Looks as though has been water logged before, one log book saturated. Next person could possibly replace =)
We lived at Perth for many years before moving to the big smoke. Geocaching gave us an excuse to head back and reminisce. This cache reminded me of the time I scared the "willys" out of a bunch of 10 year old girls having a sleepover at our house. I told them a made up story about the ghost from Gibbet Hill. TFTC!
Another one of those caches that I have driven passed so many times but never had time to stop, well today I had a spare 5 minutes to turn off the road and visit this historic hill, the cache was a quick find and I soon had it signed and replaced.
Thanks for the cache.

Whilst on a motorcycling ride through Tasmania, with 80rangie, I found this cache. Thanks for hiding the cache and bringing us to this area.

Found cache 28 metres from our GPS GZ.. hint was a giveaway however co-ords may need to be reset. Cache found with 25mls of water inside and new cache logbook saturated and unusable. Replace logbook in new zip seal bag. Placed wet logbook in new zip seal bag that needs to be removed at earliest convenience. Dried contents and cache as best as we could, and replaced. Removed oversized magnetic sticker as probable cause of poor seal of the cache. Thanks for the history lesson.
I grew very close to gibbet hill but had never been up there before. Beautiful view on such a lovely day. An easy but very soggy find. Tftc
Found this one after leaving fire fighter training in Perth number 6 of 31 days of geocaching. Cache was half full of water and will need some attention. SL TFTC
A few hours to kill on the way to the airport decided to find a few caches around lovely Perth. This was a nice easy find. Thanks for bringing me to this somewhat disturbing piece of history.
Found with Justjessie on day 8 of our Tasmanian caching tour, also found the lizard minding the cache!
After exploring several dead end roads we eventually found the correct one and had the log signed in no time, TNLN, TFTC
Our trip around Tassie saw us in and around the beautiful area of Evandale, Longford and Perth. On a nice day we started early after staying at the free camp area in Evandale.
A nice easy find in a nice area. A quick scratch around had the cache in hand. Upset a local when we turned around in his garden. Cache is about 26m from posted coords.

This was our 22nd cache find in the caching run & we found it at 15:25
So this now makes our total find count 6055.

Today Ian wore a polo shirt with a logo that says, "Grey Nomads - Exploring Oz." It must have been an omen or something because we bumped into our Geocaching friends "Grey Nomads" all day. How weird.
[/blue]
Coordinate Accuracy: Poor. (Around 26 metres.) We would have had no hope without reading the hint.
Cache Condition: Container and log book are in good shape.
Took: Nothing.
Left: Nothing.
Thanks bubbles1971 for the hunt today.

Haven't been up here before & only live down the road! Found by Miss 8. Nicely hidden. Master 10 took 10 cents & left some stickers! : )
I've often wondered why Gibbet Hill was called that, and thanks to this cache, now I know.
Ever since I saw this cache I've been itching to find it. Twice a day I drive past the Gibbet Hill sign, and every time I think "Gee, I should really find that cache some time". Well, tonight I finally succumbed to the urge.
So, it was 10:30pm, or there abouts, and I took the gravel road, following the directions. I was a bit worried about finding a spot to park, and even more worried about the barking dogs when I got out of the car.
As I paused to let my eyes get used to the dark I glanced up, and saw the most amazing sight. The night was perfectly clear, and away from the city lights the stars looked amazing. It took a bit of will power to stop staring at them and actually find the cache.
I soon had the cache in my hand, and signed the log. Thanks very much for this cache, it's definitely been the most memorable one that I've found so far.

What a macabre story! But I have often seen the sign from the highway and wondered about the name. Thanks for filling in the blanks and keeping the tales alive.
Found with Bedmaker while visiting down here from Queensland for the holidays.

We were out for the day seeing what sights caching would take us too.
Boy they got up to some pretty savage stuff around here. I must say the history behind this cache certainly makes the mind think what it would have been like living here around that time.

Quickest find by my geokid yet today but I made sure she got a reduced version of the history. TFTC
I remember being taught about this area in school but have never been here before, only ever driven past. I also remember the stories of the ghost who apparently haunts the highway, annoying passers by. No sign of him today but we did find the cache (only thanks to the clue, coordinates way off). TFTC
Quick find on the way home to the sunny east coast after a day in launceston TFTC
Wow, we are learning how to do caches in the rain in Tassie while on holidays. Nice quick find on a nice clear day with great views, thanks for bringing us here.

It was pretty chilly and breezy up here today, but luckily the cache was in an obvious spot so that the log could be made quickly.

Thanks for enlightening us of the reason for this place's name and links to the 19th century.
I came up here early today and enjoyed the views before logging your cache where the clue indicated it would be.

On a lovely spring morning I went for a long walk to this cache. I enjoyed seeing the wrens and water birds along Gibbet Hill Rise. The clouds were rolling in from the NW so had to move along towards Perth for a bit more caching.

The coordinates for this are about 25m out, but with the hint, it's a very easy find. The co-ords should be updated though. Hard to believe this peaceful setting was the site of such brutality. Thanks for showing it to me.
Found with co-ords out by around 20mts. Loved the history that goes with this one, the first time we tried this one we had driven past the road before we knew, this time I was ready for the turn but still over shot the road by the a little so reversed back up. Thanks for the detour.

Lol good spot but the owner of the house nearby came n had a sticky beak wondering what was going on, she wasn't too impressed and kept mentioning snakes yet funnily enough it's winter they are hybernating.

An easy find was made using the accurate hint and co-ords. Thanks for the cache.
A trip up and back to Launceston in one day for a netball carnival left me too exhausted to do much caching, but I did drop in here.
I thought it might have been a historic site, so was surprised to find all the houses
As budgie did, I found the coords to be a steady 27m out, but the hint made it easy.
The sun was setting as I left, so the views were quite lovely.
Thanks.

Had a lovely drive around Devon Hills until I realised I had not really checked driving directions. Easy location eventually.
We had a Sunday trip to Launceston o find a few caches that had been active since our last time up there. Managed to clean out all the Launceston trads except power to the people, which probably was not suitable for myself and four children. Geo kids a, i, e and o enjoyed the day and especially the trip to the Campbell town lolly shop on the way home.
Easy find, hint very helpful but coordinates about 27 meters off. Great drive to a good, quick and easy cache

First cache for the day while teamed up with fellow cachers Liz and Bruce. Just as well for the hint for this one as we found it about 25m from our GZs. Thanks for the hunt bubbles1971.
