#18645 - 12:37:00 PM; Day 39 of the European Road Trip and our last full day in London. Headed out to Greenwich to visit the prime meridian and have a quick look around before the forecast rain arrived. After visiting the meridian, we headed down to the pier to catch a ferry back towards the city. Grabbed a snap of the old ship while I was waiting. Greetings from Australia and TFTV Slytherin and WimpyKid1 Smile

As for my second "geo walk" I chose Greenwich. Not only that I was recommended to go there because of its beauties but who would not want to see the town which name can be often mispronounced by innocent learners of English? Smile
I took the double decker 54, it took me nearly an hour to get there, but it was worth it. As I got smart watch for Christmas, I recorded the whole track I did - I made 15 km and more than 20 000 steps. Firstly I was pacing along this very nice and huge park, it was really calming. I liked the cache series, quite easy even if being positioned in places so crowded with so many muggles. Then I walked under the Thames, quite strange, when you realize that you are under so huge mass of water. At the end, I went for the Prime Meridian, interesting place but very crowded. Thanks for showing me these nice places. I have such a great time in here.

I was here after the visit of Greenwich observatory and Maritime museum. Very nice ship, but unfortunately I did not have time to go inside, because I had a flight in the afternoon. Thank you for the very nice virtual cache.

Visited this place and found it with jarchiv.

We decided to take a trip to London, where we have never been to before. Expectations vere set quite low, as we didn't exactly knew what to expect out of this trip, but we set some goals. We wanted to visit the center, see some sightseeings, get some old virtuals, play some wigos by the road, visit challenges by the river and conquere the Abbey road webcam. We booked a place in Upton park, which turned out to be a pretty interesting multi-cultural spot, it definetely is an interesting memory to talk about. I can say that I like London, love the metro and I am pretty pleased by the night life we've seen. I will aim to return one day.

Thank you Slytherin for showing us this interesting place and maintaining your hide.

Together with Awgnld on a trip to London we logged as AI standing for the first letter in our nicks or with our individual nicks.
Focus was on virtuals, earth caches, challenges and caches with many FP. Of course we also found and logged many caches along the road that did not fullfill these focus areas. We were very lucky with the weather since there was no or only little rain over the days. While basically walking in between the caches we also used the tube/DLR or bus on occasion. It was really great to visit so many fine places not to talk about all the great caches we were able to experience too.
Answer sent to CO.
Thanks to CO for placing caches for me to enjoy and find.

A trip to London with the whole family. A few days to enjoy the beauty of London and go Geocaching. Not too much as the children don’t like it that much anymore. We focus mainly on the Virtual Cache, the Earth Caches and of course the Webcam Cache. Unfortunately our trip is way too short for us to find all the caches we would like to find. But we are also here to see a bit of the city.

On our first day we travel to the area around St. Paul’s Cathedral, London Bridge and the Millennium Bridge. Tate Modern is one of our stops. Surprised by the artwork we see there we wonder why some pieces are considered artwork. We learn about the history of London and the Catastrophes that struck London.

The next day we visit HMS Belfast. Our son wants to join the Navy and was interested to see how this ship looked like. We walked over the Tower Bridge and learned that London recovered from even more disasters. We had a beautiful view from the Sky Garden. After the Meet & Greet in London event we called it a day.

The third day we went to Abbey Road to visit the webcam. We had a great time looking at all the tourists walking over there. Next stop is Greenwich. A walk around the Cutty Sark and the Greenwich Peninsula for all the Challenges over there. The caches just had maintenance the other day so the logbooks were almost brand new.

The last day of our trip we got out of bed early. Breakfast, check out of the hotel and off we go to see the Horse Guards. Next we had a small walk around Westminster Abbey and the Whithall Gardens until it was time to go back to the airport.

Our 4 day trip had come to an end. So much to see and too little time. We will be back!!!

Today we came to London for a caching day, our plan was to tackle the Greenwich area and grab a couple of specific caches in North London before hand. It was a great day out with a surprising amount of wildlife from parrots to foxes and a lot of caches! In total we walked 23km over the day. Thank you to all the COs who have placed these excellent caches for us to find.
I do love an old virtual so had to give this one a shot whilst here. Soon spotted what the description was referring to and after that spotted the numbers we needed. A lovely little spot thank you for this virtual.

G'day from Brisbane Australia! Took the ferry to Greenwich today and since Whisky is one of my two favourite beverages (the other also featured in this cache) I felt it important to stop by here for the virtual. Bounce had me walking like a drunken bee for a moment before I spied ship's wheel and it was straight forward after that.
Thanks Slytherin for bringing me to this location.

# 6234 - Found at 11:31, 3rd of 20 finds today

I haven't been to Greenwick for many years, certainly long before the fire on the Cutty Sark. The area has been much improved and I enjoyed visiting. There was no time to go on the ship today unfortunately.

Our children had treated us to a day in London followed by dinner. We decided to take the river tour up to Greenwich and explore the tourist attractions around here. We started off by walking round the Cutty Sark. Most impressed: with the restoration itself and the way the life and times of the ship has been depicted and explained. Though we didn't have the grand kids with us today we could imagine it would be a good trip for them at some point.

No trouble with finding the answer to the question and this has been sent to the CO.

Thanks for keeping this oldie going.

I sent in my answers some time ago, but haven't logged until now. I have now left the UK, so I am getting UK logs up to date. After I found the answers to this, I went in and indulged in that other beverage alluded to. The place was rather disappointing and dirty the day I was there though. And horrors, a paper cup! This is the first find of a lovely weekend in London, mainly sightseeing rather than geocaching.

The Cutty Sark looks magnificent, and fortunately fully restored we didn't have time to visit the museum.

Last time our eldest daughter was here she was running the marathon and the ship was still boarded up then.

E mail sent to the CO with our answers.

Kent Mega 2014: While attending this mega event this weekend we also had to go to London to find many different types of caches and if possible more of them. And therefore We searched, found and logged this cache successfully.

We had a lot of fun and walked many, many miles!

8220 + 981 = 9201. Found with ACBC66 and AwesomeL during our European holiday…

Our last full day of the holiday and we spent most of the day at Greenwich. I have been here several times but this is the first time as a Cacher - so lots to do ! I targeted the 4 Virtuals and the Greenwich Gates Series. We caught the DLR to Island Gardens (glad it was running despite the Tube Strike) and walked through the tunnel. Popped up and found the beverage house. Sent to info to the CO.

Thanks Slytherin ! I've been looking forward to doing this one for a few years ! A Favourite Point from Me !

Cheers from Australia….

Before visiting Greenwich Park we could fulfill the task to log this cache. Impressive sail ship. Thanks for maintaining this historical virtual cache.

Email Sent.

The new Cutty Sark exhibition is open and very cool. Id highly recommend a visit... with the warning of the 12 pound entry fee which seemed a bit excessive. The referb job is fantastic and there is little evidence of the 2007 fire. Apart from the Whisky named after the ship I knew little of her. I really wish Zhaomin was still here! Learn more when you get here but basically the Clipper ran Tea from Shanghai, China the first part of her life, then Wool from Sydney, Australia... our two home towns Very Happy

Hoping now the boat is back open the the public this Virtual will be restored to it's former glory with closer ties to the boat... rather than a rubbish American coffee chain Wink

Cheers from Sydney, Australia.

E-mail sent to owner with (hopefully) the answers.

As with others, there isn't much to see of the old vessel. Occasional rumblings from within give the impression that someone is doing something to some object within. Hope to be back in a few years when the Cutty Sark is restored.

Found by Mary & David from Australia at 1215. In Greenwich for the day to see the sights again and this time add in some caching. When we saw the general destination for this cache, we tried to guess what the answer would be - we were wrong. Fascinating to explore inside and out, and certainly impressive. Our thanks to kimrobin for making us look twice.

We visited the 'cache' first inside and out, then went up to the Prime Meridian cache, and then returned on our way back to the DLR to the site of the cache. We wandered around and then found what we thought were the four letters. Cool place! Cheers Gav [114]
