Logs
New container record book and coords. Left hand side as you walk up the hill. East side of stump under big rock.
Was digging around with my foot at the base of this stump and saw a snake about 1 metre away! I got out of there quick smart and I'm not going back to look any more!
After the last log of a DNF, we were doubtful of a find - but we spotted the familiar green …log was too wet. Replaced log sheet and attended to admin duties. Very happy to log another smiley
Didn’t find today had a bit of a look around but old mate curled up kinda had us a bit nervous about prodding to deep. Even though we were a few meters away it wasn’t to bothered.
Keep your eyes peeled. It’s 25 degrees today

Thanks for the Cache Paul the Hippy,
This Stump was indeed the mark of a Monster tree. A great day to be high on a mountain.

Second DNF for the day picked up a leech instead will have to come back another day
A beautiful winters day so Spiffy- and my geopartner headout out. Mt St Leonard was the target location as I had never been and it is visible from home.
A little searching here and all found ok.
Thanks to Paul_the_Hippy for the placement and fun.

Found at 2:05 pm.
It was a beautiful winters day and Fleabag- has had a recent inkling to climb mountains for some reason. I was glad this one wasn't a 12km walk like a couple of weeks ago. Gladly, later in the day I was very glad to have brought 4WD as we drove my deeper into the forest after this fun trip up Mt St Leonard. Some quite slippery muddy rutted sections further in.
This was a bit wet but the write-in-the-rain logbook and pencil inside worked perfectly.
Thanks Paul_the_Hippy for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

Find #1070 @11:30
A nice quick find on our way down from the lookout. Lots of people taking advantage of being outside on a sunny Sunday morning. TFTC!

Spent a fair bit of time, and checked nearby locations. Couldn't find it unfortunately.
Big stumps here, but I was also stumped by this hide. Hunted round for maybe 10 minutes, didn't want to poke around in the grass nearby too much as I'd just seen a snake up the top.
Even the stumps for these trees are amazing and you can make out the cuts where the loggers would have cut in to use boards to stand on. Took some time to find this one moving around a bit, ended up reading a few of the logs to help out but got there.

GPS was way off on this one, said it was stump on other side of powerlines. Looked through comments and found correct stump. Bit scary as grass is quite high. First to find in 2020! TFTH
beautiful atmosphere today with the fog, and it cleared briefly when we were on the tower. We'll come back on a clearer day.
Passing by today, I checked this cache and found it to be quite okay.
I put the log sheet in a new ziplock bag.

I love being home in Australia and seeing these stunning trees. Quick find here. Cache was soaked, log destroyed. I’ve replaced with my sole waterproof log but I think the water will just wash the ink from pens out anyway.
Found on 24 February 2019 at 3:39:06 pm. Find #2719. Great walk but logbook soaked...
Thanks for the adventure.
Thanks for the adventure.
Was a bit stumped on this one, but I eventually saw a suspicious spot and found the cache. Tftc
The weather today was ideal for geocaching. The next caches to our accomodation were up to St. Leonard's hill. We found all boxes quite quickly. However the log papers in all caches are wet and need replacement.
Thank you for the cache and greetings from Swiss geocachers.

This cache was covered in snow, a real thick blanket. It was an epic climb and snow was being dug out to find it. Eventually slipscache found it. The road up was treacherous. Logbook was wet when we opened the cache. Thanks Paul the hippy!
Thanks to the person who put the new record sheet in. All good . Left hand side of track as you walk up the hill.
Easter Saturday. Family coming tomorrow. Today is free. What better than caching with geodog? Thanks for this cache Paul.
French Geocacheur ! Thx u for the cache ! Mount St Leonard is amazing ! good description
Back in Victoria we picked up a few caches along the way and this was one of them.
Today we travelled to Kinglake via the gravel roads and through to Healsville, Yarra Junction and back. A great long day out, excellent views of the country side. This took a while, but after reading previous logs we made the find.
Thanks for placing this cache for our enjoyment.

I was already almost drive-by'd out after a hour or two, so a hill climb was the obvious antidote. "Oh look, Paul_the_Hippy has amply provided for that too!" was never actually uttered, but it could have been. This ended up being a far more interesting hill than I realised it was going to be. I knew zinch about this mount. This one detained jimbo_80 and myself longer than it should have. We initially failed to locate the correct former tree described in the mildly depressing description. The existing log here was essentially *papier-mâché* so we inserted a fresh sheet'n'bag. Thanks once more Paul_the_Hippy!
We slowly but surely made our way up the hill and this cache was a good excuse for a break. This had us searching for a while in a few different places until I heard the familiar call of "found it!" Always prepared, BendSinister replaced the wet log.
Thank you
Thank you
I couldn't find which one it was and March flies were killing. I couldn't focus on anything. I walked back down jumped back into my car drove to closes store brought areogard, came back and found it also straight away after using new coordinates from log
Thanks heaps

A weekend away with the extended family for my mum's 80th birthday, about 30 adults and a dozen kids so I needed some peace and quiet this morning so I snuck out to grab a couple of geocaches and have a walk.
Now that's a stump. What times it must have seen.
**Thanks for placing this geocache Paul_the_Hippy**

With the GPS bouncing all around it was either left or right eventually we settled on the right side or is that the correct side Seen a few of these sad looking grey ghosts.
Al and I decided to take the shortcut to the top which brought us to this one. I'd had an unsuccessful look for it last time I was up this way but unfortunately, Upoj had me at the wrong stump again as it turned out. After a few minutes of looking, we figured that the others would be munching at the top and that we should probably join them. [8)]
As we were leaving, the stump on the other side of the track looked possible despite the coordinates saying that it wouldn't be but sure enough, we finally had the stash in hand from that stump at 12:20 to mark our 5800th find. Upoj was saying I was about 14 metres from GZ so I took a reading and have included it here for reference (S37° 33.821 E145° 31.534).
TNLNSL, although a couple of our geocoins had a visit to mark the occasion. Thanks Paul_the_Hippy.

This one took a bit of finding as the GPSr had us over 10m away before the find was made.

Found by Lauren and Daniel while visiting Healesville for the long weekend TFTC
A quick and easy find as I head up to the top of the mountain. Thanks for bringing us here and thanks for the cache.
A lovely day to go out walking in the hills. I picked this area as its not too far from home. Nice tracks and years since i have hiked around here. Thanks for all the caches around. Most were in good condition. Some flooded though i drained all the water and tried to dry the log books out. They all look like they will be fine. Cheers
Out this morning at silly o'clock with poptoppete doing a little hiking and light 4x4 driving. What a wonderful spot to escape, the views were fantastic, love looking down on clouds in the valleys, could just see the city at times and a few Roos/wallabies scampering around. Thanks for the adventure. Tftc Paul the hippy.
Found with Gunks during early morning hike.
Beautiful views with mist in the valleys.

Doing a reci for a future 4WD club trip. Looking in the wrong direction as a result but once changed the location was a quick find. Great location though. Looking forward to caching in this new area on an awesome day. Falling in love with this area...thank you so much for showing me this area Paul. TFTC
Take my hat off to those who have taken their pram to this cache. Well done, hope it wasn't raining at the time. TFTC
Out geocashing with Bonstar and Softicus today, gz was showing to be a bit off, but cloud cover may have been a cause of this. Tftc
Bit hard climbing up with the pram and the 2 little ones but well worth it for the views and the hides. TFTC
Not a good track for geo pram; -) thankfully we had some fellow geocachers pushing. Tftc!
These tall trees are an amazing sight, especially when you stand at the bottom and look up. I wonder how long this one had stood here before it was cut down. Thanks for this series Paul.
After earlier climbing this hill to get the other caches and driving further down Monda Rd I realised I had missed this one. So back up the hill I go. On arrival at the spot I find two muggle kids hiding behind the stump! (Parents had left them there while they summited Mt SL. So I had to enlighten them to the world of caching while I signed the log. So hello to Angus and Cooper if you ever take up the hobby.
A nice quick find this afternoon, it had to be one or the other with this hide, would of been a monster of the forest in its day. TFTC Paul the Hippy.
What a beautiful tree this must have been in its time. We admired the stumps around us as we signed the log. Thanks for showing us this place, and for a good walk up the hill!
Knowing that the CO was on duty at the fire spotting tower, I headed up this way for the day to say hello. I needed a day with a lot of green around me. It was hot and humid in the city, but up in the hills it was perfect. The drive across from the Melba Hwy just got better with every curve and turn. I arrived to an idyllic site that was lush and quiet. Then while getting the two caches off the roadside, a massive timber truck rumbled through. They are cutting more trees up here....
After parking the car, up the hill I trudged. This is the fast way up.
Thanks not only for the cache, but for being there Paul_the_Hippy!

GPS was pointing the wrong way but with the hint it was easy to figure out where to look. The stump at GZ is quite impressive - I would love to have seen the actual tree!!!
I was making a visit to my nearby cache today and remembered there was one along this track. I found it in the second place I looked, not bad with no GPSr. Great views today TNLNSL thanks Paul.
Had to stop for a breather on this hill anyway, so this is a good spot for a cache. I echo your sentiments about the poor old E. Regnans and hope there are some for our grandchildren to see.
Found but it took me a bloody long hunt! I think I made the mistake a few other previous loggers made.. TNLN TFTC!
Stopped for a breather, snapped a photo of the smallest on the stump, found a quick cache. No swaps today.
When preparing for visits to friends in Kinglake we have a look at caches on the map. We've had our eyes on an arc of seven around the north end of what looks on the Hema map as Maroondah Reserve. Today we tackled them. Not the right day weather-wise but, well, we were there. Many thanks to Paul the Hippy for kindly giving us a route to make up for our doubtful map reading abilities and for letting us know a better description of the location is Mt St Leonard. We had a late start and managed four finds, one DNF and succumbed to the heat and the call of a coldie before tackling the last ones. This one was our DNF. You might well ask why, but always remember they are only easy if you have found them! We blame the heat, the trials (for us) of the terrain plus the harassment from the horseflies for probably not searching logically. Also the GPSr couldn't seem to make up it's mind about the location of GZ. How's that for a litany of excuses! Anyhow, we hope to return.
Picked up on the way up to the lookout tower for lunch with the Melbourne Bushies.
Mrs Riddell found it without the GPSr.

A quick find @ 17:05 heading back down after spending some time at the top of the hill. One thing that is quite obvious from up top is the area that has been logged around here.
Thanks to Paul for the cache. TNLN

Second of 6 Paul the Hippy caches in this vicinity, I decided to take the short way up the mountain today, and ended up taking the short way back down too, so the road remains a mystery to me . Once I worked out that it wasn't the REALLY big stump that I needed to be looking at, the cache was soon in hand. Thanks.
This cache was a middle of the day find on my run home today.. I parked at a familiar spot and began my wonder.. I first however water'd my pets and gave them a short walk before tucking them back away.. I made good time and soon had this one in hand.. however not before first getting further off the track and checking out the stump at GZ.. I then gave up there and put my GPS away wondering over instead to where the cache was.. Thanks Paul for this (and the next half dozen caches..) and Find #3256
Found while touring the area with Pprass, Nice day to be out caching, view are great up here. Thanks for the cache.
Found at 11:55 AM GAFF5 in the company of Rebel Acts. We pushed our bikes up the main track until we had to cut across the bush to the minor track. We then headed right up to the top using the minor - walking as the bike idea turned out to be a dud.
Thanks Paul_the_Hippy
