Blast, dont check the activity log before getting the required information. Also didnt find it though I was sure I was looking in the right spots. However, great excuse for me to come back to the Historic Village for the first time in 20 or so years of living overseas
Walked the village finding the answers. Checksum agreed. Went to GZ and spot matched the hint but no cache to be found.
Had a very interesting walk around the Village and also took the opportunity to pick up the nearby Wherigo whilst we were here. It's a lovely place and parts of it are quite fascinating. Thanks for setting up this Multi, TFTC
Stayed the night on Tauranga on the way home and woke up to drizzle. Decided to head to the Pioneer Village for some caching and trying to stay dry. Enjoyed strolling among the shops and collecting the required information. Sum check didn’t tally but that’s already been noted. Short walk to GZ and a quick find. Cache and log all fine. Now off for a coffee to get out of the rain. Thanks for the smiley
A rainy school holiday morning lead us and WellerFellers to having a fun game of ten pin bowling followed by a cheeky doughnut at the Whipped Baker. We attempted this multi- and correctly identified GZ even though our checksum was incorrect. My DNF log (cache AWOL) was waiting to be published for a couple of days, and meanwhile FapAndGap set up a new cache. Fantastic! Thank you FapAndGap. Log signed and container filled with swag.
After solving this cache just over a year ago
My answer matched previous finder and check sum agreed I found no cache
Got no response from co just watched to see if anyone else might find
Than a replacement log was left in location I had found
But their check sum was wrong because of answer c
Returned a couple of weeks ago but no container even though I was told it was there
I today have placed a 250 ml container in place
Hint under right side

As we were in the area tonight thought we would try our luck with this multi. Luckily Kimbathelion came prepared and saved us walking round the entire village in the drizzle. Got remainder of the answers, didn’t add to checksum. Re checked on some of the places again. Still same answer. Thought we would go look for cache anyway. Upon arriving at GZ hint matched exactly and previous comments became clear. Tftc
I did a bit of homework before we got to the village so didn't have to go to all the buildings. I had one of the answers from my ad lab plan. The checksum didn't add up so we checked some of our answers & still didn't add up but decided to have a look anyway. When we got to the area we decided we were in the hint area. Messaged CO as we replaced with a temporary cache. Will remove if necessary as hadn't heard back. Fun multi. Tftc
mrs fap and i decided to go to the village today.
area not as busy as we were expecting.
worked out answers but didn't come up with right geochecker answer.
i wondered if question c might be wrong as doors looked fairly new.
rang a previous finder who said the doors were the barn type doors when he did it.
perhaps this question should be plus 4. this gives me correct answer.
read previous loggers answer and my location switched on also.
no cache to be found.
could this be checked please

It took a wee while to gather the info, bgot there in the end, with the help of previous logs. The value for c may be incorrect?
Ms_KR and I are off on a wee tour of the North Island. The weather was mostly fine. I got in some biking and walking, but too many dnf's for my liking. We cruised around Tauranga And we had another great day!
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

Cache #790
Down on Tauranga for a family weekend away. It started off as a business trip for Mr. Kiwi and Mrs. Liver Bird thought it would be nice if the whole family went. So here we are. Of course you can't go to another city and not cache while you are there.
The last time we were in Tauranga 9 months ago, we discovered this lovely little village, but it was mostly closed as it was mid week. Now that we were back we had to visit it again and check it out while it was pretty much fully open. We wondered around and collected the information needed.
We put the new co-ordinates in and headed to the final. Looked around but couldn't find anything. Looked at the clues and rechecked the numbers. Then noticed that there was a checksum. Darn, not correct. So quickly revisited the information sights and found one figure to be wrong. Changed it g it new co-ordinates.
Mrs. Liver Bird and LordCacher08 didn't want to head up to find the cache, opting instead to go the The Man Shed. So off went Mr. Kiwi to find the cache. Once there the caches found instantaneously., but no pen. Darn. So off he pent to find the others who did have a pen. The Man Shed as closed and the others were not there. After ringing them to find out where they were, Mr. Kiwi walked on over to grab a pen. Back to the cache it was t to sign it.
The cache was retrieved and upon opening it up, it was discovered that there was a pencil in the cache. D'oh! Anyway, the log was signed and the cache put back from whence it came. Thank you for a lovely.little cache in a lovely setting.

Well I think I got my numbers but b was suspect. Found a spot that matched hint ok but no luck.
Arrived in town today for an overnight stay. What better way to explore than by caching. Get the multi and the whereigo - two at the same time. Thanks for your efforts. A nice wander through the village. TFTC
Our first multicache and really loved doing this with the kids and some friends. Enjoyed working out waypoints. Thanks for the find
A fun find today with Lassletts. Kids had fun racing to find the buildings and exploring some of the little tracks. Was our first attempt at a multi so happy it was successful. Thanks
A great walk learning the history of Tauranga. We wondered around gathering the required information, then we sat down at the Cafe for a hot chocolate and cake pop ( they ran out of donuts!!) Once we had scoffed our smoko, we went to the GZ and little one found the cache. He loves cruise ships so did his first swap for a Holland America Line badge.

On a geocaching trip with Bennett24 and this was our first stop of the morning. A multi and a wherigo? Oh my, we're there. One of us did the hard work on the multi and the other the wherigo. Got there in the end and got to sign in, thanks for the cache.
After a semi-successful Saturday Tuolei and I were on a mission to clear up as much of the map as we could. We arrived at this area hoping to do this multi and the Wherigo before going on to walk around the park which we found closed due to construction. We both had a go walk around this nice historic village while the morning market was on, one doing the Wherigo and one doing the multi - a photo of the map at the entrance was very helpful to solve this one.
Had a nice walk to the final and quick grab when the cover was spotted. All good here - thanks for taking us to this interesting place.

We visited for the day off the Holland America ship Amsterdam. We are on an around the world cruise from Ft Lauderdale, Fl. We arrived from Tonga and Auckland and are proceeding around New Zealand to Australia, Indonesia, India, the Med, and Northern Europe. This was our 3rd time in Tauranga. Thought we would see what the Historic Village was like this time. Very nice. It was a beautiful day for caching. Took a little time to find the survey date for Tauranga Bay. Actually found it as we left the house. Also, if it wasn't for the hint, probably wouldn't have found the cache. Cache was 70 feet (20 meters) ENE of GZ. Thanks fir the hide

We started solving this geocache months ago but didn't have time to finish it. We finally made it back today to fill in the gaps. It was the first multi cache we have done and we really enjoyed it. We can't wait to do more. We also liked exploring the Historic Village. This cache was really well done. TFTC
With no real plan today we ended up here. Really enjoy this place. Gathering the info was easy enough. Always great when the numbers add up first time round. Cache easily found and in great condition. Tftc
Find number 4540. I had done the walk around the Village doing the Wherigo and actually managed a couple of answers for this as well. So after collecting the wherigo I came back to complete. Another walk and had to come back to the main entrance to check where I needed to go to next. I sat and enjoyed a coffee as I did the sums. Then it off to GZ for a quick find. TB collected. Thank you for this cache.
A nice well laid out multi. Enjoyed my day wandering around the village which is surprisingly very busy! Cache in great condition. Now time for a famous donut at the busy bakery on market street
after getting all excited about the whereigo here I forgot to check if there were any caches nearby and I missed this one completely. so of course had to come back and wander around the village with my mum who was no help at all lol. thank you for bringing me back here to claim another smiley a well put together multi and cache in pristine condition TFTMC dropped TB
These two caches in the village are almost on top of each other in the website with this one on top so I didn't spot the smiley. To cut a long story short I have just done it again so my signature appears again (in the new log book). I don't remember my original find but today was really enjoyable.I have a few spare fav points at the moment so one is deservably yours. Thanks again tparty, good fun.
Awesome!! Many thanks for fixing and keeping this cache alive, been hanging out to change my blue face. A great walk around gathering the required info. A def fp for the adventure, now to do the new Wherigo. Many thanks again Tp.
When scouting a new cache, I noticed that this had been re-enabled. I did this cache about a year ago but GZ was scorched earth. The multi was fairly easy as I know the Village well, even though someone seems to have dropped a house Wizard of Oz style across the gateway to the Faulkners. I think I saw some red shoes sticking out. Probably an unlucky geocacher. (Sometimes I feel like a Prisoner ) I had a bit of a hiccup when I inputted the co-ordinates. Then I realised I didn't have my map set correctly. A quick adjustment and it all made sense. A quick find of a nice cache. Grabbed the TB to move on. I fancied the flashy bird but I didn't have any swag with me. Thanks very much for re-enabling this cache. TFTC.
It has been a LONG time coming, but we have finally reshaped this multi-cache. Thank you everyone for your patience and consideration. The area is under constant development, so we have changed some of the questions and shifted the location of the final. It is still an enjoyable walk for the family. No FTF on offer but we have dropped in a trackable for the next visitor.
Will be back in there in a few days to re-organise this multi. Thanks for your patience.
Please get checked, alot of time spent by people doing the multi only to have a new area that has been redeveloped.
Did this multi while relative was having surgery. Got to GZ and new landscaping is taking place. Re previous log / photo. Might pay for CO to check. Loved the place. Cheers.
As per previous. Searched over half an hour, digging away new mulch, to no avail. Sad face.
Fairly quickly found the co-ordinates but, as I zeroed in on GZ my heart fell. Felled and mulched trees and roped off area of new construction. I think this cache may have bought the farm. CO please check. Also, the map at the entrance seems to have gone AWOL as well.
Enjoyed finding all the coordinates, But either we are useless at finding the final geocache or it has suffered a terrible end. Left my GPS behind so the best accuracy was down to 3.9M with phone. Tree cover was not an issue as there had been very recent cutting down and mulching of major trees in the garden. There was a fairly large stump cut to ground level left near the coordinates and all the ground is now covered with about 5 inches of mulch. I may be wrong but I fear the tree and Geocache have been mulched. Although I could be wrong and simply looking in the wrong place. One possible other location was full of water. My daughter was poking around with a stick and thought she heard plastic. Put my hand in the same location had doubts. Will see if any 'Found its' pop up after this log to confirm that we are just simply useless. Found three other geocaches after this one for some therapy.
We had just done the CITO at the Mount and seeing as the day had turned out so well we decided to do this multi. One question caught me out but I did have a question mark next to it so when I check summed it I was able to adjust accordingly. The find very satisfying. Very good hide. Thanks TParty for an enjoyable multi.
Thanks Tparty for a grand tour of days of old.....enjoyable Sunday ago filled in great and a fav from me tftc
Great little trip around the Historic Village with KatbowersNZ. Awesome to have the market on at the same time. Great to use your noggin to decode the clue. Do this one if you have some time on your hands.
#578 - Grabbing this multi for the weekend souvenir. Brought the 3yr old &his bike so we went around the whole place solving the puzzles. Was really enjoyable! And the hidey hole was hidden in a great place.. so thanks for the well executed cache. Fav from me just for the great atmosphere here.
Jazz Festival provided great cover for wandering around the village looking at buildings, sitting down here and there, having a drink and chat with people along the way.
Coordinates covered and gathered without any problems and final result was a relatively quick find by Tiga once we reached the location as I was played decoy for muggles and the mozzies.
Cache outed, and log all in good order. Only sorry I didn't have TB with me on the day.. Signed, and returned to its canny possie.
Good one Tparty TFTC

1st Multi-cache I've done. Love the concept of finding and working out the clues. Had planned this hunt with My.Precious for a while, as we usually go to the Historic Village for the Jazz Festival. GPS on the mob phone is reasonably good, give or take a few meters. Adds to the challenge. Picked out two possible GZ's but then my GPS location kept moving. Reading relevant notes from previous cachers, and the clue, I looked in many possible hides, then ah-ha this could be it. With the help of a little stick to sweep the cobwebs away,( last found over a month ago), and poking in the hole, I hear the distinctive sound of plastic. "BINGO". We had to be patient and stealthful with all the muggles about. Cache was put back as found. Thanks T-Party, I enjoy your caches.
Just want to start off saying that this was a great cache. It was a new type of cache than we were used to, so we decided to go out of our comfort zone and give it a go.
We then came to the Village and started looking for the first clue. But it was a bit tricky and we were almost going to give up until I noticed the number. Feeling regenerated we carried on and soon had all six numbers under out belt.
Finding the final cache only took us a few minutes and we signed the log.
Has to be a favourite from us.

Out on an epic caching adventure with HKCB, iammrwalker and 11hpg11 as an honourary guest and the 'K' in signature 1HIK or HIK1 to make a dent in the caches of Tauranga.
Splitting up to find the clues. iammrwalker and I had issue with one but all was revealed with the checksum. Off to the final and that pesky digit revealed itself! Definitely looked a bit out of place walking up past the wedding.... but didn't seem phased. We definitely earned ourselves the "Clipboard Crew" designation. Geocaching is serious business!!

This geocache was found on my third trip to Tauranga/ The Mount/ Papamoa in the company of HKCB and 11hpg11 with a plan to clear out the area. We were joined today by Kyb3r another Hamilton Geocacher who was keen to be part of an infamous ‘mad mission’. We signed the logs with an anachronism of our Geocaching handles, usually ‘1HIK’ or ‘HIK1’. There were plenty of memorable moments and a lot of laughs as well. It was another long day; I got up at 4am and didn’t get to bed until midnight. We were a little disappointed not to meet our goal only getting about half way through our list of unfound caches. However we did tackle a number of difficult and complicated hides. We found some great and memorable caches and of course now have a great excuse to organise another trip to the area. Thanks to all the CO’s who provided us with such a great day out.
This was a fun multi. We divided up the clues and spread out to collect the answers. We missed one answer but using the check sum soon had coordinates that looked good and headed off to GZ. 11hpg11 made the find while I had my head buried in a flax bush. We must have looked a little out of place heading back to the car (not helped by there being a wedding at the Chapel at the top of the hill and most other people meandering about being in formal wear) as someone asked "Did you find it" as they walked past. We were a little flummoxed and I mumbled "maybe". Of course having now checked the log I know now we had inadvertently run into a CO of a couple of caches we DNF'd. We had our perfect chance to try and squueze out a hint or two out of him and didn't even know it!

It was my wifes weekend off work today and we have been meaning to wander around the Historic Village for a while now, so today was the day. It was a great opportunity for me to explore the village enough to solve the coordinates for this cache, and I even enjoyed looking in some of the shops too.
While I was putting the numbers together, we observed a team running around the village with their clipboards and one of the shop owners was curious as to what they were doing, as I had to admit they looked kind of out of place in their casual gear with clipboards. We worked out pretty quickly what they were up to, but wife mentioned to the shop owner there was a wedding about to happen in the chapel and that excited her enough to stop worrying about the clipboard crew.
By the time I had put the coords together and cross referenced with the checksum (which didnt work for me), the clipboard crew were rapidly returning from the direction of the wedding. I guess they werent on the guest list. I asked them if they found it and they must have been too busy to stop and chat and just replied "maybe". Nice chatting to you.
Anyway, thanks tparty for bringing me to this little village. There are some interesting shops in there and I recommend a visit here. TFTC

Another big mission for our little Hamilton team. Maybe this time we can clean out Tauranga and the surrounding areas. Our team consisted of HKCB, Iammrwalker, Kyb3r and myself. We signed the logs as HIK1 (or 1HIK as the day went on!) Another 4am wakeup and we were on the road by 5am. Back home by 11pm I think it was, it was all kind of a blur by then! We were fueled by Sour Patch Kids, B.K., Caffeine and quite a few painkillers. We had a great day with a large variety of cache types, sizes and difficulty! Thanks to all the cache owners for their hard work on giving us some great quality caches to find. We had a few milestones hit today and I think we all had a great time. Looks like we might be back again some time in the future!
I have been here once before with my son but it started raining that day and we never got to finish this off. Good to be back in the area today with time to do these multis and harder puzzles etc. Found all points ok apart from one that gave us trouble but worked out what it needed to be using the check sum, then when we were walking we spotted our answer. I found the cache fairly quickly while the others were looking futher away. Thanks for the enjoyable multi and glad to finally tick that one off!

This is the 3rd mission over to Tauranga in recent months with 11HPG11 and iammrwalker to turn the place into a bunch of similes, but this time Kyb3r joined in on the fun also. An early start from Hamilton meant we were greeted by a fantastic sunrise of Tauranga as we made our way down from the Kaimai's, and by the time we had decided we had had enough the sun had well and truly gone to bed, but we did see it disappear while halfway up the Mount.
We found some great caches throughout the day and had some very memorable moments, and I even hit a major milestone, my 5000th cache find. We signed the logs 1HIK (an acronym of our caching names) or some combination of these letters to save room on the logs. A big thanks to everyone for all of the great cache hides.
Got a moan from HPG when we got to the start of the multi and she started reading the description and it said that it'll take about 30mins to complete. I thought nah, it can't take that long, so we divided up the questions and took off. Managed to get 5 of the 6 answers easily but struggled with one, but we used the check sum to figure out the missing number. As we headed off to the final we did find the missing info, and after a quick search we located the cache. All up about 15 minutes from start to finish, sorry TNXPro for not stopping to chat we had more caches to find:)

#7124. Enjoyed the very interesting wandering around the Historic Village on 17th Avenue in Tauranga South this afternoon. Not too many other visitors today. Fortunately, GZ itself was pretty quiet when we visited. Found after a short search. Nicely camouflaged and well hidden. The cache was in excellent condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

I actually did all the leg work for this one a good month or so ago but didn't sign the log as I knew I wanted to get it today. Came down on the way to the CITO and had a bit of a heart in the mouth moment when it wasn't where I thought I remember it being but then I saw a more familiar spot and made the find, thank goodness.
Thanks tparty and congrats for your milestone today.

I really enjoyed this multi, with a no nonsense and easy to read/solve steps along the way. It was great to be able to return to this spot I remember from school visits from Whakatane.
Thanks again.

Out and about enjoying the sunshine while wandering around the village. Once we had all the required numbers it was a quick find at GZ. Not many people around but those that were there were gathered around the cafe TFTC.
Werll! Fancy all these old buildings being here. Had a grand walkabout and soon had the final coords in hand. Thank you for setting this multi, very interesting. A fave from me.
Gave this a second go tonight but this time I went straight to GZ going off something I had heard at my event down Memorial Park for 15 years of Geocaching I thought I could solve this without having to do the puzzle again. Must of messed something up slightly on my first try as I was searching bit closer to the church. Was a lovely evening stroll around here tonight and no muggles in sight so had the cache pretty fast on the 3rd place I tried. Really enjoyed doing this multi and thanks for setting it up. This place always reminds me of arrowtown and central otago where I spent a lot of time growing up. We also went to ante natel classes down here. Cheers T-party ticked another multi off
A lovely walk through the historic village as we collected our clues. There was a wedding going on as well. Got the coords easily enough and headed for the cache. We set base camp at a picnic table and worked our way out searching for viable hiding places. Had the cache in hand within 5 mins. What a fantastic hide. Loved it. Tftc
Got it all right and sure after reading comments I found where it would of been looked all around and reached in got torch out but nothing might need checking
Loved walking around the village, always find something new here. Found coords nice and easy. However unable to locate cache spent half hr poking around and left empty handed.
Had lots of fun looking round the old village and eventually got the coords.
Getting the cache was a lot more tricky. In the end our GPS was about 8m off. A torch came in handy.

A deserted Sunday morning ideal for wandering around. Gps took me right there but well hidden. Thanks.
Had abit of spare time this afternoon so thought we'd tackle this multi. Really enjoyed the walk around the historic village collecting up all the required info. Not many people around late afternoon so we had no trouble with muggles. Cache took a few minutes to reveal itself as the GPS was misbehaving under the trees. Found it at last and very nicely hidden. Thanks for a cool multi and a chance to explore a place we've never visited before.
Found with Keltic Kiwi after a Sunday morning brekkie. A great walk around a deserted village and a chance to learn more about the buildings.

Found with SplattyNZ after a lovely breakfast at Grindz, awesome place Historic Village, too early for anyone, think the gates had just opened. TFTC tparty
My multicache for 7 Souvenirs of August, 2014. A pleasant little stroll round the village on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Nobody around really, so no muggle problems. Locating the cache did take a while, my gps was fluctuating around a bit but all fell into place with the help of the hint. TFTC
Loaded up the smart phone and wandere about the village, Great multi thanks (a favourite from me)
Really enjoy your caches and this was no exception. Well put together multi that posed no problems and the final right about where we thought it should be. Thanks for another great cache and a fav point from us.
We tried to look on the map on this cache. But we couldn't figure out where some of the buildings were! We went looking all over the place and we even ended up seeing a man that looked like he was on drugs or something! Hope he wasn't! He was near the end cache! Very fun other than that! TFTC! Great find.
Out for the day with one member of The Brown Treasures, trying our hand at some multis.
We thought Sunday afternoon would be a good time to do this one and we were right - there wasn't anyone around, except for the homeless (?) guy sleeping near the chapel! Found most of the answers quickly and the checksum showed we'd made one mistake, which was easily fixed. The final had us hunting for a little while until we got a good fix on the GPS and found this well-hidden cache. An interesting village which we've visited many times before we became geocachers! Took Platypus TB. Thanks for the placement, tparty!

Loved this one - easy clues, clever hide - plenty of room for my Platypus Fav from me.
Used a bit of cunning to solve this - when needs must and there are souvenirs to be had and time is tight between work and getting the kids from swimming - the co-ords took me straight to the cache which was peeking out of his little hidey hole - quickly signed log and returned the container safely back. It was a nice stroll through the village at the end of the day.
TNLNSL - TFTC T-party a nice little challenge!

yes!!! got it! decided to waltz around and find the answers. had been here a few times, theres the cool weaving shop next to the blacksmiths, and the ta moko shop down the service lane entrance. BUT i had never been in the faulkner house or the chapel! so cool.
was hairy tracking down the cache, searched a while under the trees. hard to get fix. but in the end wasnt too bad at all.

my first multi cache ever. Had a nice look around the village as had been a few years since I had last been there, figured out the clues, but couldnt figure out how to use the co-ordinates to get us in the precise location with the compass??? kind of fluked it poking around with a stick?? found with la-dedah. Had a coffee, then off to the next cache...

Who was to know there was a Historic Village here... thoroughly enjoyed exploring the area and visiting the replica buildings. We had a great time here, many thanks for setting up a fun and interesting multi, and for showing us this neat location. Deserves a favourite point from us.

We really enjoyed exploring the Historic Village to find this one. We managed to collect the clue answers and find the final resting place quite easily. We then visited a couple of the arts and crafts shops and toured the village radio studio before having a picnic in the bush area. A great morning outing - thanks again Tparty. The kids swapped a couple of treasures and took the GC to move along. Our 100th find - yay!!
Went around the village with my list in hand gathering answers.
Compared solution with checksum and followed GPSr to within a metre.

Tree cover meant it took us a while to find this one, we were ready to give in then one more hunt and we had success. A fear of bugs and geocaching don't always go well together so was a little bit weary reaching in but was worth it! TFTC
Had fun getting the clues with my 4 year old grand daughter but were so disappointed when we couldn't find the cache.
2nd shot at this , GPS a bit hairy and wanted me to go in opp. direction but eventually able to plot a direction from out of tree cover ,hint helped to locate cache , enjoyed the walk around the village ,dropped of coin. TFTC
Fourth time visit to the Historic Village. This multi has been a real challenge for us. I even had to email the CO to check, as I couldn't stand being rejected another time. Don't know why this was such a drama. The cache turned out to be a walk and grab. TFTC and support. Left two TBs.
Visiting tauranga for the weekend, so thought we would fit some caching in. Such a lovely location! Had fun finding all the clues. TFTC!
Found it after adjusting the chapel number. Thanks for the the walk around the village, hadn't been there for a long time. TFTC
Checked in on the cache today after recent DNF's. Everything found to be in place. The refurbishment of the chapel roof complicates matters a little but a careful examination of the ROOFS will yield the correct result.
