I came upon two large fences blocking the path, so I was worried that I wouldn't be able to get to GZ. I found myself on the road. so that way would have to do.This one took a bit of time to exhaust the possibilities before I hit on the right one. TFTC.
Found on the way back down from up the top. So much old engineering hidden away, just need to know where to look.
Looking for a short loop walk we decided to go up Involution and down Scout track - definitely not a very wise decision and I would strongly recommend doing it the other way around. More even after some decent rain. Scout was very steep and going downhill in slippery conditions war far away from being easy. But at least I was able to find this little one just at the end of the loop. Signed as third one on the new log.
The start of a days walk in the hills. Have my new glasses so will see how they and I cope. Arrived at GZ which was a familiar area in times past. A quick look around while the GPS settled, a look at the hint an a few minutes later the cache was in hand. Second to sign new log. All good here - now for the Scout Track.
Today was another dot day we had to fill but it was a great day for caching. Too hot if anything! I walked up the track on the true left of the stream I until got to weir. After ruling out flood zone, a likely spot was found, and then so was the cache with a nice fresh log. Then it was a gentle walk down the true right track to complete a loop. Thanks for the adventure in a new spot for me. TFTC
Thought we would ride up to this cache that we have done in the past.
Unfortunately the Nano was tightened too much that we were unable to open it , will need a good gripping device to try to get it open.
Have taken photos of where it is for proof that we were there.

A big old DDNF (disappointing did not find) after setting out for the Kiwi Explorer cache and figuring we’d get this en route. We must’ve taken the wrong track as we couldn’t see the weir or find the cache - the stream was on our left heading up (we’d crossed it several times). Anyway try another day …
I went up the main track/road, very straightforward approach.
My GPS never showed closer than 13m, but two looks in the obvious place turned up the cache.
Had a look at the weir, and returned down the far side of the stream. That track is quite a scramble, and very enjoyable.

We tried this on the way up, but my GPS was way out, so I was totally in the wrong place. On the way up the old scout track I thought some more about it, and when we got back again to the bottom I convinced RG on a small detour for another look in one particular spot. GPS was +/- 18 metres, but a quick find this time. Nice weir also.
TFTC Biggles.
A sunny day and RG1972 and I decided to go for a walk up a hill. We chose the old scouts track up, with a descent down involution track where they intersect.
Not sure what the issue was today but I really struggled with this steep ascent. RG made much better work of it. And a couple of DNFs on the trip did not help my spirits. But it could have been worse. As steep as it is, it is at least sheltered so we were spared the direct sun. I much preferred the switchback descent involution offered over going the other way. Thanks all COs.

Located with Ricardinho on our second attempt.
Great grunty walk up the scout track!

Got this one yesterday. Shame that the track gets a bit rough right after this otherwise I would’ve done the loop. No can do with my dog! TFTC!
Out for a walk up the old Scout Track and remembered there was one here I had looked for previously. Didn't have a pen so log not signed.
Checked cache today. Found it safe and sound exactly where it is supposed to be.
This was our 3rd attempt and still no luck. Even with the new gps we struggled to get a reliable position. Might need to get some extra help......
Found it TFTC. nice hide. I had miss some crucial way point on my previous visit here. What a cache!!!!!!!!!!
Only had time for one cache today and this was the chosen one. Good brisk walk up and back with a bit of time in the middle to have a wee look around the area as it was our first time this far up this side. Thanks BigglesNZ for the cache
Enjoyed the walk up here, very pleasant at this time of day
We searched around but soo spotted the cache.
Thank you for the cache

I originally set off with the intention of looking for the Barnicoat Walkway cache, but was intrigued by a well-formed but unmarked track off to the left. Wondering if it might provide an alternative route to my planned destination I followed it along and although I got to within 250m of the cache the uphill scramble seemed a little folly so I continued along the track as my GPS suggested I might end up close to the Involution track and the caches that holds.
Continuing along I find myself within single-digit metres of the weir, but on the uphill and on the wrong side of the river. Hmmm. Fortunately I pressed on as I soon came across a steepish track that led down to the weir and from there it was a quick hop across to get close to the GZ.
My luck continued as I spotted an object that the CO might have been hinting at an after a short search I spent several minutes wishing I had brought my extraction tool with me. Got there in the end though.
First time caching along here and with plenty more to find, so on my may...

#9879. It looked like we'd have a nice flat 4WD track all the way, so the nasty wee detour over the slip came as unpleasant surprise. There was only one object the cache could have been hidden on, but it still too a wee while to spot. Had a look at the weir after finding the cache. A rather small specimen; almost a case of 'Where is the Weir?'. TFTC.
We had planned to go to Pelorus Bridge for the day, but the rain radar looked a bit iffy, so Plan B was for a walk from Glenduan to the "Cable Climb" cache. But some research by StreetWalker revealed that the walkway would be currently closed for lambing.
So, Plan C it is, a walk up the Involution track. After failing to find the new chirp cache further down the valley, we carried on to this cache, so it was the first find of the day. Surprising to find a nano in this environment, and luckily StreetWalker's eyes are sharper than mine as I looked there but failed to locate the cache. The hillside above the picnic table looks rather unstable so after a quick look at the weir, we headed back down the valley again. Well worth a wee detour, and a cache. TFTC.

As paddle chick and I were out doing another cache on this particular track she said I might as well do this one .The Gps was all over the place it took me awhile to locate it with a little help .Tftc

This cache has long been on our geocaching radar but somehow always missed out. I've always enjoyed the walk up to this weir but this is the first time since I began 'hunting plastic boxes in the bush'. I spotted the cache almost immediately but the angle of light meant I didn't recognise it for what it was. It was only when approached from a different angle that 'the penny dropped'. It was only after we got home we realised what the hint meant Thank you BigglesNZ.
It's been a long time since I've been here and the landscape has changed. After a false start Holymu spotted the cache where I looked just before The hint was a bit of a mystery until we got home. A fav for that. Thank you BigglesNZ for placing this cache.
Have a lovely walk up the hill to day. Lovely spot to site down for a bitt after my walk. Sorry about the late entry TFTC
Really lovely area. GPS was crazy, 2 Mr Cachers went off to follow gps that didn't work, a family came along to have their picnic - told them what we were doing & soon had the object in hand. TFTC
Visitors to Nelson so good to explore some places off the main road, enjoyable day out with Kiddzinn.TFTC
Not a soul around. Followed my instincts on where the cache would be. GPS behaved itself. TFTC.
Came down Involution and it was so good to get geopedals on a good track again.
Like many, GPS was crazy at gz and I do not understand why. TFTC. http://www.geocaching.com/images/icons/icon_smile_cool.gif

Oh dear, not again. This is my second DNF of Biggles today..... hate it when that happens.
So much for the old Scout Track leading up to the Weir! With all the storm damage the track was very difficult to negotiate and after 30 minutes bush bashing gave up and retreated to the main track. Quick cache find but don't understand the cache name. TFTC Duh ... correction, fully understood the cache name, it was the hint that made no sense to me.

So focused on getting Young Scouts and Stubborn Old Goats further up and then on to attempt 2 FTF's that we walked passed GZ blissfully unaware of a cache being here . Having the FTF's and a few others ticked off realised my mistake so raced back up the track after coming down Involution. Log found and signed quickly and back down the track in search of the next smile TFTC
I had intended to look for this cache when I was in the area a few days ago but I was keeping pace with a Dad and his boys. The younger one (riding on his Dads shoulders) was very friendly - What's your name? Why have you got your phone? Why don't you put it in your pocket to keep it safe? Why does it tell you where to go? Then he started telling me all sorts of other family things so I decided to head off up Involution instead before it got embarrassing. No one round today making for a quick and peaceful find. TFTC #4408
Weir indeed!! I must say I followed my instincts on this one and sure enough - - - there it was. TFTC
This was a slight detour on an overly ambitious lunchtime trot to get this and Involution, with this second. I haven't checked my records, but I am certain that caching in this area was very early on for me, and I think this is my 3rd cache at this spot along with several more in the close area. I always love coming up here. The slip that took the edge off the track, before the slip that covered the track, made me realise just how vertical it gets around here (as if the zigzags at the start of involution didn't make it obvious! TFTC, good fun.
Found but forgot a pen so took a photo holding the cache! What a cool little place, love it. Thanks!
I got to the bottom of involution track and was disappointed to see I had to go uphill this this. But, as it was only 200m and not to steep I thought I better get it. Took me a while to find, but got it in the end. TFTC
Last time I was here there was a ute parked at GZ! No way that can happen at the moment as there is a substantial slip 100m before GZ. Good place for a rest and revive. Went on to have a look at the weir and contemplate the old technology.
The way we do things like collecting water for urban areas has changed so much in such a small time frame.

Wandered up track without a hint of a signal, climbed up, then down, wandered a few steps more and there it was!

Very familiar with this area and had a good idea where the cache would be located. Didn't take long to find but tweezers would have made the signing of the log easier.TFTC.
We also have memories of the original so knew exactly where to go. Last time we got here first the long way - and also met topgear for the first time. Like others, our second shorter trip gave us the original cache. Nice stroll in the sun for us both after an early finish today for Mrs SoBad. The phone got us to 1m of the cache after the GPS had lost reception and before we could regain it. The spot and the size and the hint said it would be where it was, so it was a nice quick find. The next cachers may not need their own tweezers because realised when logging now on line that they were missing!!! Thanks.
Nice One!!!!!!!No worries. Sign at beginning of track is gone, however there is a warning tape at the slip. A little track has been formed over the slip for easy access to the cache sight. We remember well the first cache placement. Thanks
Hmm, I'll try and work out if there is possibly an alternative route in... (& I'm not thinking about the Old Scouts Track...)
Sign at start of walkway saying the track was officially closed. Contacted previous finder to confirm the sign was new - possibly work being done on the track. Moved on to Plan B.
FTF. I remember your first cache here but no posse required to round up the replacement. GPS read 46m to go at gz and accuracy was 26m I really miss my 60. There was an obvious looking spot nearby so I ignored that and thought "Now where would Biggles hide it." Good one, thanks.
2TF. Good one. Out for a Sunday morning dogwalk/ cache hunt- always a good combination! No worries with the find- my trusty 60CSX said 5 meters at gz, +/-8 meters, so couldn't complain about that. Would have been quite interesting to have been up there the day of that big rainstorm, eh! Good one, thanks.
