Our last full day in NZ and we are doing a loop through Darfield and Oxford and searching for caches missed on other visits. Thanks to the COs for your placement.
Travelling around South Island for 2 weeks, from Australia. Caching along where you go. Arrived at GZ and found cache. TFTC
Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I live full-time in our caravan travelling around NZ, visiting the places we want to visit & doing the things we want to do and fitting in a bit of Geocaching here & there we hads been staying in Christchurch but have now moved inland towards Oxford parked up in town then went for a wander this was an easy find, log-book signed & cache returned as found were also pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally TFTC ... TN:LN:LS this was #6,468 for us!
Yesterday, ThatDarnBear and I celebrated out 6th wedding anniversary. Through the kindness of two of our older GeoKids, we were able to go out caching without any children. By pure chance and luck, and a pre-arranged Outing for UnicornLex that I had completely forgotten about, we were able to go out Mad Caching two days in a row!!TFTC
FoundGeoHubby (Slotheryn) and I find ourselves with no children today, so off we go for more Geocaching. Our target today was View Hill and Coopers Creek. We stopped off in Oxford for snacks, and to grab the odd cache before heading into the great yonder.A quick find here. Thanks for the cache.
Looking on the wrong side of the fence. Oops. Went around the fence and lo and behold a rock. TFTH
There's been some gardening going on, so it may have been shifted. I found something that looks like the hint, but no joy.
I had a free day while the rest of the family went out boating so I did what every keen geocacher does in a new location. Once I found where to park, and worked my way I had the cache in hand. A lovely spot to sit and contemplate the world. TFTC.
Unfortunately cache was splayed out in the open - not far from where I assume its original hiding place was - and quite wet. Did some minor maintenance and added a wee swap for good measure.
I very much love getting to visit the South Island. Until recently it wasn't something I got to do very often, but in the last year I've managed a series of mini-trips for geocaching, and here we are at the start of 2024 with another one. Just like my first SI trip in 2023, I've come to Christchurch to target a few specific caches to help with my Jasmer Grid, and qualification for a few challenges I'm currently working on.This is Day 2, and it's raining. Not major deluge-type stuff, but just a bit heavier than a fine drizzle. The kind of rain that gets into everything and can generally make for a miserable time caching even if you have wet weather gear. So I had a cruisy morning catching up with yesterday's logging before deciding that I really had to get out if I wanted to get any caches today. So I set forth, via a Couplands Bakery because, well this is the South Island right?Having failed to find GCE92 yesterday, I had decided to target the only other July 2001 cache available to me, so headed over to Glentui Bush to make the find. With the rain still falling, I figured I'd still be able to head back to Chch whilst stopping to find a few park 'n' grabs, and so I pulled over for this one. A quick find here. No issues here with the cache itself, so I was to add my name to the logbook and then replace everything as found before heading back to the car again. Thanks for setting this one up.
Thanks for the cache cfahey1.ayeffay . Quick find today while on a roadie around this area picking up some of the caches not found on previous trips
Saw where it was placed but had been removed, log book was ripped up all over the place
Time to visit Oxford and its environs locating and signing off caches.
A nice spot.
Cheers for the cache.

Found this on day 2 of our weekend in Canterbury. It turned out we found 48 caches on my 48th birthday - just the way it turned out. Thanks for the cache and dry log book.
This had obviously been muggled as it was lying out in the open about 1.5 metres from the hint. We re hid it. The logbook is a bit worse for wear and will need replacing in the near future. TFTC.
Out and about dodging the odd snowflake, at work. Quickly located, looks like an animal had nudged it out from its spot into the open.
TFTC cfahey1, ayeffay, the cache was found in good order Signed, sealed and returned to GZ. 1 find(s) of 2 today, making this find #3556

Passing through This area gathering a few caches along the way log wet and out in the open ..replaced as found...thanks for the cache
Easy find, once i got out of the hospital grounds, beautiful seat. Some amazing treasures left.
Down in Christchurch with the Squirrel, ABCDF4 and eyespyben. During Covid lockdown, we solved a load of puzzles and decided that this would be a good time to visit. We've enjoyed a few days of good weather and seeing the Canterbury countryside. The caches have been in varying states - some good, some not so much. Our time here has been a blast, and we'd like to thank all COs who have made this adventure possible. Thank you and TFTC.
With ABCDF4, eyespyben, and Gap (of Fap and Gap). Logging all finds as Team HRP (Huntly, Rotorua, Papamoa - Our hometowns)... During Covid-19 lockdown, we solved a truck load of puzzles around Christchurch - Canterbury region. No use thrashing the old grey matter for no cause - We decided we should make good on this handiwork...
There are lots of interesting trails and geoart surrounding Christchurch. What you aren’t told is how far flung some of these caches actually are. Some beforehand advice would have been great, so here are some of my notes... You’re welcome!
1. Mobile coverage is patchy, especially in those quiet, rural areas where it was most needed. Saving caches to offline might show that you are prepared and organised...
2. There are many dusty metal roads on the trails. The car will get messy, and your hair will feel like cardboard at the end of the day...
3. Suitable clothing and footwear are essential. You will climb in and out of hedges, gorse, and other rough stuff. You might get scratched, cut to shreds, and bleed a lot. It’s not advised to wear your brand new jacket on the day...
4. Take lots of food and drink. You’ll probably be head down, tail up and not realise you haven’t eaten until late afternoon. There are very few shops or gas stations out there...
5. Make sure that you secure keys and wallet and know where these are placed for easy retrieval. A full box of pens might be useful too, especially if you’re inclined to free some into the wild...
6. Know the difference between left and right, and north, south, east, and west. Turning right and heading north will not get you to South Christchurch quickly.
7. Look with girl’s eyes rather than boys eyes... Some caches haven’t been found in a while and you might have to get down on your knees to pray.
8. Always be prepared for misleading hints. This is what turns simple caches into D5/T5 hides... “Head height” could mean the cache is positioned at your toes.
9. Have a sense of humour and like the people you go caching with. It’s going to be a very long day, and you might want to hurt someone during the journey...
10. Make sure you can operate your phone/device and it doesn’t crash when you most need it...
11. Learn to cut and paste logs because you’re going to repeat this function so often when logging all of your finds.
12. Above all else, have fun and be kind...
We have another one of those punishing plans to cache until we drop - An early morning start with the hope that we'll finish at a reasonable time... From South Christchurch, we took Highway 1 and crossed the Waimakariri River into Northern Christchurch... A quick find. Thanks cfahey1, ayeffay and TFTC.

After puzzle solving in the Canterbury region along with ABCDF4 we were invited to join Fap (from Fap & Gap) and Squirrel Nutcase to a week long caching adventure in the Canterbury area. With flights and accommodation booked were off, all met up in ChCh. and many hard dusty Kms travelled and many caches found, I think the Squirrel has said it all in his brief. Many thanks for the placements and Cos for bringin us to the very pleasant areas we travelled in to your region

On our way to Oxford on business, so decided to make it a leisurely drive and get some caches along the way. Quick find. TFTC.
Sorry no purple pen to sign the log. Purple peg in, pink cup out. Great spot. Truly restful
Out for the day with busy paws. We are on an adventure getting some cache for the Mystery Game. Thanks for this cache cfahey1, ayeffay.
Out with coconuts3 today, and found this as per hint. Really quiet, the weather was pretty awful! TFTC [8D}
Decided to walk to these ones. Well trying to walk off good amounts of beer over this festive season. Quick find tftc
Another quick find while working down this road. TFTC cfahey1.
A bit of a lazy day today. Very warm, and not much planned except a family dinner tonight, so I went for a spin out to Oxford for some caching.
I like the towns out here. Oxford looks smart.
I can honestly say I cannot remember ever going to Cust before this trip, but that is quite pretty too. I reckon you can sense the community pride. Helpswith the impression when you pass through them in good weather though...
So a good days caching and not many DNFs. A few I had to move on from though due to a heavy muggle presence, but all up good fun. Got to bump into a couple of cachers from the coast too. Happened quite a lot on this trip. Cheers to the COs.
