Have checked cache and given it a new container and new log book. If you find the beginnings of a cairn (stones in a pile) on a large rock then you are so very close to finding the cache.

Thanks for the cache! We swam out from Ngaio to the island and it was a beautiful morning. The hardest part was getting up the island. Since we had no phone as we had swam to the island the description helped a lot. The log was too wet to write in. Overall it was a great cache and good entertainment for the summer. Thanks!

We had come past here earlier this morning on our way to try to find a ftf further along the coast. As we were heading back towards Kaiteriteri we discussed if we should stop and see if we could find the T5 island caches on our way.
There was no way we could have landed the boat at the suggested landing spot - it was just too windy so we motored around to the sheltered side and I dropped gk off and I took the boat out into deeper water and waited.
He made his way around to the entry point and followed the instructions, passed some areas where the penguins have been nesting on his way. Followed on up until he struck the flat land and headed to the furthest big rock to gain better reception and then headed over to find the cache. It had some water in the cache so gk dried it out and then returned it with some bark over top to try to keep the water out.
Thanks for placing this log and thank you for another smiley

Another trailer yacht week in the park
This time was passing the island with little wind and plenty of time.
Anchored the yacht and rowed to suitable landing . Followed the directions to an easy find (once there!). Thanks

We found are own way to the cache. We also had a five year old with us and she did it. The easiest way was north.

Wow, what an adventure kayaked in, found an ok landing spot and tried to find the route up.
Not sure we went the 100% suggested route, but after many scratches and scrapes we hauled ourselves up to the summit!
Happy with ourselves, yet slightly worried our kayak would now be in ngaio bay...
It wasn't, we survived ngaio island and got the cache to prove it.
Thanks for putting it there.

We had some mates in Kaiteriteri so thought why not grab a couple caches with them so we got a couple crew and set off in our dinghy then we walked up the track which is so cool but slightly harder for the five year old but in the end it was he who found the cache such a great cache in such a cool spot so we decided to give it a favourite and a TB for a good hiding spot a great island and a great time

Great time paddle boarding over tricky getting up but so proud of my family would love to do it again with some other people. Would recommend going at low tide.

We had the kayak on the roof rack after a maintenance run, to one of our caches on Bells Island and thought it a good idea to give this one a crack, given favourable conditions. As one half of the team was feeling tired the other half headed off solo. Tide was still in for a couple of shortcuts and the island soon arrived at. Had a look at a few landing spots and picked the best of a bad bunch. Soon had the kayak pulled up onto the rocks and followed instructions to the top - indeed a scramble in places but still ok. Cache located and as others have mentioned the log was wet - didn't even attempt to sign. Left a replacement log (write in rain paper) so this should last a while. A favorite for the wee adventure for sure!!

Attached a couple of pictures - one from today and one from 1978 from Kaka Pah Point lookout.

So many times I've kayaked past the island and thought I must stop and get the cache but I knew it wasn't a park near grab. With a perfect forecast for Anzac day a paddle in the park seemed like a good idea. There was a seal sunbathing not far from the start of the trail but not close enough to be a problem, pulled the boat up on the rocks a bit further around and rock hopped up to the track. The instructions made it easy to find the way up. Found in the first place I looked and I was back down in no time where my paddling buddy was patiently waiting. The log was damp but was able to write in it just, sorry I didn't bring anything with me to replace it. Thanks for a fun cache Team Jacers & foursteps

This has been a particular cache that I have been looking at for about a year. We all set off in kayaks from Marahau over some choppy waters to make it onto Ngaio island. I was in the double so I managed to hop out of my boat, while we had to park a few boats away from the trailhead. We also had the added challenge of avoiding a young gull that was one rock over from his baby parent. I never checked the trailhead but made a fair assumption from the ground it had been trodden on & looked like a viable track. my mum had to help my youngest brother up to the top. We found some rocks & my younger cousin made the grab. the log was a bit wet & took awhile to sign. after missing the track down, we made it back down to our boats, a squawking gull & rain unnoticeable in the canopy. the finder decided that it wasn't all bad. After mentioning giving this one a favourite point, it was unanimously decided on to give a favourite point to cache 391 Cool

So tired after this adventure! Good directions thank you. Managed to negotiate or way to the top and locate the cache! Bit wet but still there and managed to sign the log book.

One to remember! Thanks so much for this cache. Up at Motueka for a holiday with my eldest son. Went kayaking with my wife and son from Kaiteriteri. Had a long walk in bare feet around the landward side of the island to landing area. Bush climb was easier on the feet found with no trouble then paddled over to beach for a rest. (See photo).

WOW what an adventure! When I knew I was heading up to Kaiteriteri on holiday I knew I wanted to try this one out. Found with Tarmacprof. We found some Kayaks under the garage at my Uncle's bach, we did hire some lifejackets - just in case. I did tip out of the kayak as we were trying to land, so lifejackets were a good idea. Clambered up the island and found with not too much difficulty. The cache was very waterlogged, log book very damp. Dried it out as much as possible. Thanks for this fun hide!

Thought we'd share our experience. Lucky wandercat and ajbenn got to spend a whole week in a batch at Ngaio Bay. Most mornings wandercat swam out to the nice big yellow buoy near the island. She was particularly good about not swimming to the island and attempting the cache without ajbenn....and of course she would have been shoeless.
A nice calm day dawned and the double ride on was pulled out of the shed and saddled up ready for an attack on the island. Stage 1, paddling to the island was a breeze. Stage 2, finding somewhere to land wasn't so simple as it was low, low tide but we managed. Stage 3, scrambling over the giant boulders (low tide remember) was interesting for us senior citizens but we reached the overhanging tree and gazed up at the route to the top. Wandercat had a go at scrambling/pulling herself up but could see it was going to be difficult...plenty of prickly blackberry, dry slippery leaves so in the interests of personal safety we turned back leaving the challenge for those 50 years younger than us. Wandercat was heard muttering "why the top?' Nice idea though.

Had a beautiful day for this one. Well worth the effort. Many thanks!

Yay, thank goodness I found it. Would have hated going to all this effort and not finding it. Didn't take the GPS or a pencil, it was kind of spontaneous once I'd launched the kayak on a rainy but calm morning, so hoped like heck there'd be a pencil, and that I wouldn't need the gps. Quite a scramble to the summit, not for the faint-hearted, so pay attention to the route description. I didn't, but happened to take the route described anyway, because that seemed the only do-able route. Great feeling of satisfaction after this one!

A visit to this cache was on the cards today with a team search party with niteowlnz, stretch0 and Flying Phoenix. Unfortunately about half way over from Fisherman's Island the outboard motor cut out and no amount of effort could get it restarted. Captain Stretch0 took hold of the oars and started to row us back to Marahau. Fortunately the Aquataxi Skipper noticed out plight and after dropping his passengers off at Kaiteriteri came back to give us a tow into shore. Quite an adventure actually so hope to get back here once the pesky outboard has had a service!!

I've been needing an Island cache to further my caching qualifications, but had to enlist the aid of a kayak owning cacher to assist me in the quest. Gryke and I completed the short paddle from Kaiteriteri in perfect conditions. A quick scramble to the top and the cache was ours. A great little adventure, I wish I'd taken my camera.

This was our second island cache for the day coming across from fisherman island dodging the wake from all the water taxi's heading down the Abel Tasman.once we got to the island we paddle around it to see where the landing spot was going to be.Once we were both out and the kayak was safe and not going to float away the next mission was to climb to the top. This was not very easy no wonder it is rated that way.I only had shorts and sandals and dazzaboi only had bare feet this became another challenge but we like that.Oh the next person or people get out to this one I have left my brown Tui sun hat on the island.I was wondering if they find it can you please return it to New World Motueka liquor Dept.TFTC

Our 2nd kayaking mission for the day. We kayaked over here from fishermans island. The day was just getting started for the other water life on the sea today as well as for some people practising waka arma which was very cool to see. Landing on this beach wasnt as straight forward as the last but got there in the end. We tore off up the hill in sandles and bare feet to find our 2nd island cache for the day. Liquorboy09 left his hat to add to the days fun. Im sure another cacher will come get it in time. Thanks for this cache it was very enjoyable to be out kayaking with a good freind =)

What a great day for a paddle in the kayak. Too windy on the other side of the island. The waves to big. So it was decided to drag the kayak up on the eastern shore. Then scale the bluffs up to the cache. Bluffs, blackberry and bare legs just don't go together. Nice view up here. Found the cache then climbed back down. Only to have the kayak float away on me. oh well water is nice and warm. An all round enjoyable cache
