Couldn't find the morning of the Wonthaggi pre new year's event.
On the road trip with D@geo
Thank you anyway for the hide Brusue & Gonefishen07

29-Dec-18
On a caching weekend down to Wonthaggi to attend gonefishen07 annual Pre New Year events. Rained overnight and in the morning (in contrast to yesterdays heat) so once it started to clear we headed out. An enjoyable walk to the cache but we were faced with the same problem as kidsdogeo.

Next stop lunch event.

Thanks anyway.

Trees fell down and hard to find no luck !!

On our trip around this was another on the list. No kids on the way in but plenty on the way out. The cache certainly took a bit to find but we have seen this style before. TFTC

This cache brought me to a nice walk in the middle of “suburbia”. I spent some time looking but eventually came up with the goods! The recess bell rang while I was there. As I was readying to leave, a student noticed me, and responded by flipping her hair around as “cousin it” and standing dead still until I noticed her. Again, thank you for adopting her cache and keeping it alive. Now for the stroll back to the car. TFTC Gonefishen07

An interesting way to get into the walk - I've never used some purpose built steps to get over a barbed wire fence before! I found this with my phone slowly dying from epic battery failure. I found it without too much trouble considering the rating. But, I couldn't get the thing out! A twig failed only succeeding in making it worse. My phone would not work at 2%. I walked away, but then I found that the Twitter camera worked just fine! I took some snaps and walked off again. Nope!! I couldn't leave it unsigned; I returned determined, and armed with a slightly skinnier twig, I managed to extract and sign what remained of the crumbling logbook.

Suscoe decided to spend a second day visiting the caches of the Inverloch area.
It was significantly different temperature wise today, about 20 degrees cooler in fact.
Clouds accompanied the day, but it kept dry until quite late in the afternoon.
We continued to enjoy finding these caches, a delightful range of hides, containers and locations.

This was a nice find in the bushland area, heard some bird calls, maybe they were the Golden chaps.
Thanks to Gonefishen07 for this hide.

Thanks for revealing this location to us. We thoroughly enjoyed the walk, and found the cache quite quickly.

A nice stroll today with YouCanDoIt2, picking up a few caches for my D/T matrix. She'd already found this one, so when my GPS was bouncing all over the place and giving me total bum steers, she helped me out and told me the general direction. I poked around the area she indicated for a while and then accidentally found the cache by tripping over. Nice camo! Thanks Gonefishen07, your caches are making up a large number of my D/T combo finds! Thanks for the cache.

Caching with With GJMMelb today, I had parked my car and jumped in with them. Our aim was to takle some higher D/T rating caches Smile
We arrived at GZ and the GPS was bouncing a fair bit, but I didnt take SuperG long to have the cache in hand..

Thanks Gonefishen For placing these nasty nasty caches for us to find Smile:)

07-Jun-15
We had a really busy day today with GMelb having an early morning trip to Tullamarine airport to drop off 2 nieces, followed by playing violin at a friend's Church. A quick lunch and we headed down to meet ms-enchantress for some caching followed by having tea with a friend who is down here looking after he Aunty and then driving to Warragul to pick up our son and 2 mates from State Youth Games!! Phew!
We decided we would go for a few higher difficulty rating caches and this was next on our list and we took the wrong path in, discovering when we got to GZ that there was a much easier access lol
Hunted around for a bit in this gorgeous location. The trees again played havoc with the GPS but it was GMelb again that found the hide. Fave point for the gorgeous spot!

A nice stroll with team SkiPair. A bit of a look around and then Mrs KI bug made a find - a sneaky little hide indeed. TNLNSL log was a little damp and needs attention. Thanks for the walk and cache.

07-Feb-15
In town to get some nails. Should have done that first. Cache was easy enough to find, but painful extracting the log. Looks like it had been wet, and jammed in there. The end was like pulp, but eventually succeeded and found a space to sign. I think it's in need of another log, and I didn't come equipped to replace it. Oh well. The walk felt a bit like a maze today, and I did baulk when I spotted a long thin dark thing on the track in front of me, but as I got closer it was nothing to worry about. Tftc.

This one had me hunting around until I looked at the clue and changed my thinking. Once I had an idea of what I might be looking for, it didn't take me very long. Good camo. Great walk. This is a wonderful area and easily accessible to most people. Thank you. Will get a favourite point from me.

We were on a weekend visiting our grandson for his 3rd birthday and then followed by a geo event in Wonthaggi; Following the event, we headed off to grab a few of the multitude of Wonthaggi caches and this was one. We came in through the school and over the stile. The GPS was jumping and we couldn't find this one. Another DNF for us

It had been a while since this was found so was a bit worried about unrecorded dnfs. Gps did spin around a bit but have found with GF07 that if you stop, look and listen to nature, the cache will present itself. Log dry. TFTC

It had been raining earlier in my walk but had stopped by the time I got to GZ. Once again, this is another little area I had never been in before. There were stacks of little birds and some very low and overhanging branches along the tracks around this area. It is a lovely little bush area which I will definitely visit again for a walk. My instincts had been way off at the previous cache, but at this one, I honed in quickly signed the log and headed off back to my car by this time the sun was shining and I was quite hot in the raincoat I had donned during the rain. Ah, nothing like fickle weather.

I wandered past this one but SUlly was on the ball and made the quick find.

Sad -- dgfb - approx 2.00 pm > 2.45 pm (with 1 spotter [ceebee2013])
-- parked in the church carpark. Walked down the edge of the grounds past shed, playground & found stile just before goal posts of oval. Fallen part of tree just past the stile (that hasn't been cleared yet). Lots of tall bracken but has clear walking paths otherwise. Couldn't find this cache even though we searched. -- Sad

This morning we decided to focus on caches in the immediate vicinity of Wonthaggi and visiting them gave us a far better appreciation of the area. We drove around for a few minutes to find a way into the area. When we arrived at our chosen spot, four ducks showed their displeasure by waddling back home rather than letting us come near them. It was a pleasant walk to GZ and there was a little birdlife - we could only imagine what it would be like in spring and summer. Once near GZ we noticed something familiar and on closer inspection, the cache was discovered. The logbook requires urgent attention as it is both full and quite wet. TFTC Gonefishen07 and for giving us a reason to visit this part of Wonthaggi.

Heading down to Wonthaggi for Gonefishin07's event tonight we were picking up a few caches along the way.
Nuvi had no idea how to get to this one and was trying to take us up roads that didn't exist so we decided to take matters into our own hands and as it was a weekend we parked in the school car park and headed off from there. The GPSr initially had us searching in the wrong location but once it settled down it took us directly to gz although it still took us a little while to locate the container. We have to say that it was probably that it was by luck that we did find it.
Thanks again brusue for the cache, no kangaroos or frogs today.

Turns out I drove in the 'no entry' part of the nearby car park, lucky it was getting late on a Sunday and there was nobody else around. Crossed into the bushland area and enjoyed the stroll down the path. With the GPS still saying there was about 5-6m to go, I spotted something out of place and when I rolled it over - much to my surprise - found the cache. Thanks for a cache in a very nice little spot.

Before heading east in preparation for 2013, we couldn’t resist the temptation to put a few more smilie faces on our Gippsland map.
Once we found a suitable parking spot we really enjoyed walking thru' this bushland area, of course finding the cache was a bonus.

While down at Cape attending the event for the morning, we decided to took advantage of this lovely area to seek out some caches. With Micaparamedic on board we visited our favourite shopping spot. We were so suprised what has popped up since we were last here. A whole new mall and favourite shopping stop. Nice easy find as it was a quiet time.
Thanks for the cache, Brusue

Down in the area today for the events and to fill in the time I between what else do us cachers do but cache? This one was next on the radar. It took us a few GPS routing problems to actually find where to park the car for this one so thank goodness it was in the first place I looked. Loved using the sty to get there. TFTH...SL...TNLN

We groaned when we read the size & location, then we remembered where we are! Always a challenge! The Chief wanted to go off into the scrub, thank goodness I found the cache before he went bush bashing! TFTC

28-Dec-12
Found at 5:14 PM in the company of & Others, GAFF1. For a moment we thought that we had to go deep into the bush, but suddenly a very suspicious item appeared right on the side of the track.
A very secluded walking track.
Thanks Brusue

One of two caches found today that we previously DNF. Experience has taught us to rely on our GPS and today was no exception. Co-ordinates were spot on - just as well as camo was good.

Trying to catch up finds from months ago, apologies for the belated log.

Found in the company of Alansee, Coley_Babee and lochb.
Camo'ed well and luckily was able to find the cache quickly! As a group we've spent many minutes looking for hides of this type.

Thanks Brusue for this cache.

We took the incorrect side of the trail at first with this one, and were looking at the wrong places.

Thankfully our geosenses came to action and we managed to get ourselves sorted with direction and hide place.

Amazingly we found this one pretty quickly, once we were looking in the correct place!!

We found this cache today at 5:14pm as the 73rd of 80 on our Wonthaggi Rail Ride Day. TomTom tried to get us in via a non-existand road but once we found the best way in, "HA' made the find whilst the rest of us were on the wrong side of the track. Thanks from D, HA & A B-A.

Nice camo - and luckily found quickly. TFTC

21-Oct-12
Another mass assault. We were finding caches that we otherwise would not and this was a classic case. Nanos hidden in this fashion can be very hard to find and very frustrating, although this one seems to be getting regular finds.

11-Sep-12
Yet another legendary night caching run by the The Demolition Crew (TDC) consisting of course of myself, Quasar3671 and TrailRunning.... Tonight we decided to hit the Rail Trail in Wonthaggi by gonefishin07. We started the trail just before nightfall and finished around midnightish. So about 6 hours in all, returning the next day to collect the newly published ones. For the whole trail, we we able to find 2 FTF's and no DNF's at all. Personally for the whole trip, including the caches done on the way down to Melbourne, just over 90 finds. Pretty stoked with that. After the rail trail we completed a few others around Wonthaggi as well.

We had a huge amount of fun on the night, riding, chatting and joking around. The occasional break, but it was pretty much wall to wall caching and riding for the whole night. The caches were creative and varied, some were quick finds and some took quite a while, all were fun if not sometimes frustrating. Congrats to Gonefishen07 for putting a wonderful trail out there for everyone to do and Hearse068 for helping. for putting a wonderful trail out there for everyone to do. I hope you don't mind generic logs on this series, and I will put a personal comment on some of the outstanding ones for the night.

We parked at the back of the sports center ( it think thats what it was ) and had a very wet and boggy walk to GZ. Found in first place checked. Good camo as well though. TFTC.

11-Sep-12
The Demolition Crew (Quasar3671, Trailrunning and Blacklegend) had been watching over the weeks as the Rail Trial series had been gradually laid out. With great anticipation we watched as the last caches were being placed and published and just had to do a night bike run to do the series. With all the plans set, we made our separate ways to Wonthaggi, placing cars at strategic points and then heading back to the start to begin the nights adventure.
We had a great night with plenty of laughs, as we made our way along the trail, stopping at each cache hide to make the find. The plethora of cache types and hides was really impressive with quite a few having us standing about scratching our heads (maybe even adding a few grey hairs). It paid to have the three of us there as on more than one occasion two of us would be searching frivolously and the third TDC team mate would just pull the cache out of nowhere. We even managed to find one of the last yet to be published hides (and is it turned out these were published less then 12 hours later).
The ride was nice and easy with many highlights along the way. Many thanks go to Gonefishen07 and her helper Hearse068 for spending the time and effort in laying out such a great and fun power trail. Once we completed that we loaded the bikes into the cars and then proceeded to find some caches in town before making our way back home. All in all 66 caches found by me for the night.

With the trail completed we loaded up and spent some time caching about town. We drove in and found a nice close park before making our way to GZ. The ground under foot was pretty boggy and wet but nice and dry at GZ. Found the cache and signed the log. Thanks Brusue.

11-Sep-12
After a week or two of new publications in the Wonthaggi area it was time for The Demolition Crew (Quasar3671, Blacklegend & TrailRunning) to pack the bikes and organise a night of fun and laughs riding the Rail Trail gathering micro’s all the way. It was loads of fun, and in some cases frustration (nano’s in the bush and all) but a great trail to ride and find caches. By the end of the day, I had gathered 75 smilies, with others in the crew getting 60+ and 80+ for the day. The Rail Trail series here is a good one, and while there are many highlights, the best find of the night was a FTF on an unpublished cache! You just have to love the 200 metre spacing along this route to predict likely spots.

Having finished the trail, we headed for this one and it was soon found. TFTC.

Out with Robmc & BettyBoo3747, our caching smarts must've deserted us after finally finding Indoor Outdoor - we took a scenic drive before reading the listing to be told the place to park (although being school holidays, Robmc managed to get us even closer). Then BettyBoo3747 & I found lots of really good potential hiding spots on the structure where the cache wasn't, before Robmc read the clue properly and found the cache before we'd made it back onto the track ... so I ended up rerolling the log ... again!

10-Jul-12
# 663. This area was certainly under water for our attempt. Loved the stile we had to clamber over and the bush track we wandered along. Having misread the hint I led hell+back a merry chase as we tried to find the hide on the signpost. It was only after Robmc re-read it that we realised our error. Back to the track and almost immediately Rob made the find. Another good hide. TNLN, SL. Thanks

10-Jul-12
The tide was in on the approach to this track - it was a bit wet. We were very happy it was school holidays!
Bettyboo and Hell+back seemed to think it was a good idea to diassemble the path sign, until the clue was read correctly (well - the NOT bit any way!)
A quick find after they had that out of their systems! Smile
Thanks, Robmc.

This appeared to be a long search but GeoBel had this spotted very quickly. Thank god too because we were getting hungry and were sick of having wet socks. TFTC.

16-Jun-12
One of 39 caches for the day and 12 night time finds after the dinner / event. Its fair to say that my average find stats dropped in the 3 hours that followed the event, however they were all quality hides and I had a blast working though each challenge.. The walk in was enjoyable, and somehow through mostly the good coords and an eagle eye slightly more awake than earlier observations I was able to find it in record time.. pesky little log was soon signed and retruned.. Thanks Brusue for a great hide.. Find # 2673

Lovely spot for a walk. I didn't know where to start when we arrived at GZ. Rob located the cache first try. I would still be looking I think. Great hide. SL Thanks for the cache Brusue.
